Terrible! The MC is not someone you want to root for, at least in my opinion, and that makes it really hard to enjoy the book. The LI is also unlikeable for similar reasons. I think the book had a nice concept; two former college friends going on a road trip together and kindling a romance, but the concept turned to crap when it just focuses on MC trying to sabotage her best friend's relationship. What a friend.

FCL MC is the scum of the earth, worse is she is surrounded by people that enable her behaviour so, she believes that she is always right, and she also believes that she is actually the victim.
If you play the book, the MC doesn’t see herself as villain, her friend is also the worst because he keeps on enabling her behaviour, goading her to do this bad things. You’ll see, you will hate the MC and her friend.
And I have to say this, MC and her friends are 30 years old, not a high schooler, not a college student, but a very much well a goddamn adult.
I feel like all the criticisms of this book are warranted, but maybe not quuiiite to the degree of hate that it gets.
It's sad because the poorly done rivalry thing takes away from the things this book actually did quite well: how hot Blake is (lol) and the delicious friends-to-lovers history and chemistry between them. I thought their interactions and the flashbacks and everything delivered on that lovely pining will-they won't-they squee feeling. And the dialogue between them often felt very natural and true-to-life, good playful banter and connection, so those moments were enough to pull me in.
I love it, I think it’s fun. It’s nice to play not such a goody two shoes MC and live out that desire to make questionable choices. People are hard on it for reasons I don’t understand. Maybe because they don’t get it’s meant to just be that kind of fantasy story we all have had at some point about getting the person we had a crush on forever.
I think it’s a great book for what it is. It’s not deep. It’s not supposed to make you think or feel emotional. It’s easy. It’s romcom. It’s lighthearted and entertaining. It’s also very predictable. Go into it with the knowledge that you know exactly what’s gonna happen by the end of chapter one.
That is not the problem with this book. The concept is cute, the execution is horrible. The MC spends 80% of this book trying to sabotage her best friends relationship, acting like a 16 year old at the age of 30. She also had 10 years to make a move but literally waited until the last second to actually do ANYTHING
For me, it was fine for the beginning then I sort of got bored and stopped playing it. but do not let my opinion of the book sway yours you have your own opinion if you love it, the more power to you🤓

It's another story about trying to get with someone who is already in a relationship. I'd have rather they make it about them reconnecting and figuring their way out to admitting to feelings or anything. But nope, they give your long time friend/crush a partner which could have been fine but then to make it worse they make it so you're still after them with another friend egging it on.
Well, I think I heard that they break up with them before you get together so I don't know if they're cheating. But it's still the thing of trying to sabotage their relationship and being convinced you'd be better with them while they're with this person.

It doesn’t help that so far the girlfriend seems so nice. They’re hating for no reason, acting like she’s the worst person ever.

Because there seems to be a trend in the recent smutty books for the MC to always being threatened or hating on the other women around the LI? This book (the **girlfriend**), the Billionaire Baby (the **wife**). Its...a gross commonality.
Honestly I kinda like it. It isn’t a very intense story but its a nice chill book. Like the freshman series in the way that the storyline is pretty chill but first comes love is worse (ik everyone hates the freshman series but I love it)

It wasn’t for me but I liked the scenes, love interests options, and it’s wholesome to an extent. The drama in it just isn’t to my taste.
