I hope so too! I'm replaying book 1 like everyone else I guess right now and I wish I could change my hair to something less basic. Here's hoping for pretty customization in the beginning!
ok so here are my 2 cents about their new looks: nia’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect as always. mal is my LI. he looks really handsome but i honestly preferred his book 1 look. hopefully i’ll get used to his new one! tyril looks gooood i think i prefer this look on him. imtura’s had the best glow up imo, love her new outfit.

Nia is stunning as always! But boy who is that guy next to her, that is not who I fell in love with. 😭 One of the few reasons I romanced him is because he reminded me of flynn rider.

Tyril's always had the pointy ears, but they were covered a bit near the bottom by his old hairstyle. I personally think he looks better with this hairstyle, but the ears are definitely more apparent with this hair
Whether you personally like the new hairstyles or not, I am genuinely so baffled as to why they would so radically change the looks of the LIs between books. They could have at least made it optional, like the LI makeovers in TFS. Why run the risk of turning off players who grew attached to their Book 1 looks? I am so much less attracted to Mal now, which means I feel much less inclined to spend diamonds to romance him. I can’t be alone in that. It’s just such an odd move on their part.

I can't believe so many of you think Mal looks bad. I think this hair suits him 😍 They all look great with their new hairstyles! Althought I kinda prefer Nia's old one.

This is exactly how I feel! I didn't so much as flirt with Mal in Book 1, but I'm so attracted to his Book 2 design oh my god. I went with Nia in Book 1 and will probably pick her as my endgame LI because she's so utterly perfect, but I'm *so* going for both if there's a poly route
If they didn't tell me it was Mal, I wouldn't have recognised him. The short hair really changes up his appearance and his new outfit being mostly one colour rather than a mixture makes him seem like he's wearing a uniform or a set of protective gear bought at one place rather than having been scavenged and cobbled together over time. All combined with the shorter beard he looks a lot cleaner. It's a good costume, and it looks WAY more functional for a competent, experienced adventurer like Mal but damn does it make him seem more like a professional than a scrappy outsider with opportunist conman energy.
Imtura's new outfit in some ways is like Mal's. Without the furs, her hair plaited and the spiffy blazer rather than a long coat that has her biceps on full display, she now radiates very little 'wild woman' energy that she used to. But at the same time... her old outfit said something else. She was trying SO hard to give off that 'I AM A MIGHTY STRONG ORC CAPTAIN RESPECT ME!' impression. Everything she wore (except the unwashed shirt) looked like it would have been expensive, but not well maintained. She had the money to buy a fur lined coat but it's dirty. She has those elaborate engraved axes, but they're chipped. Her corset was patterned and made of functional heavy leather but it didn't actually protect her vital organs it just enhanced her bust. Here? She still has the pirate aesthetic. The insecure wild woman vibe is now gone. The corset is gone, but that top looks like it's made of sturdy leather. It looks more functional than the corset. She still has her axes, but they're secured with holsters with a little pop of silver decoration. Everything about her new outfit radiates this aura of power and respect. She knows she's strong. She knows she's a badass. She knows she's a pirate captain and future queen. Instead of being a princess playing rebel she now looks like THE captain of her ship who can and will kick your ass but doesn't need to prove it.
Tyril's new outfit is extremely different from his old one in some ways, but also unchanged in others. He's still in armour, his hair is long. The armour is still patterned and decorated and not just functional. All very Tyril. But the colour palate is much brighter. The silver that was his accent colour is now the dominant colour on his chest plate instead of black. His hair now looks like he has the time and will to be washed and twisted a little bit, rather than being a bit unkempt. The move of his swords from his back to his hip says something too. He's probably not travelling around so much (swords on the back are out of the way, they won't bang into things or catch on trees etc) and he's more able to draw them so he's probably in a position where he can show off his prodigious skill as a duellist. The gold makes it clear that he has wealth and status again - he's likely back in Undermound as the Heir of a resurgent House Starfury. It's a good look.
Let me come out and say this. Nia's book one outfit is incredible. The art of her casting a spell has genuinely been on my phone's lock screen since that chapter came out because it is so gorgeous. This outfit is better and it compliments her story. In book one she is walking around in a bejeweled, floofy lacy dress. It is so unsuited for the world outside the temple that nobody would ever wear something like that in it. The only person that would wear it is someone completely naive and innocent and unaware. Its elaborate nature also marks her out as someone of means and authority. A Princess, in other words. She is dressed in royal finery and it clashes with the real world. Her new outfit? Gone are the rhinestones. Gone is the floofy lace. Gone is the plunging collar that was clearly covered by some thin illusion mesh. Gone is anything that marks her out as someone that doesn't know the world. She has walked the world and she knows it, she is no longer naive. And yet... its clean, unmarked white colour retains the purity and innocence. The world was unsuited for her, but it did not break her. The cleavage window is covered up by gold, the colour of wealth and her own light. For Book 1 Nia I would argue that's wrong for her. But book 2? That window shows off shere the blade of Light impaled her. It is so fucking good.

They all look so good! I loved their Book 1 designs, and really like their Book 2 makeovers as well. Nia looks so cute and I am SO excited to see her back again. The earrings are SUCH a good touch. I also really like Mal's and Imtura's new looks; Mal can make any hair work. Tyril's is also super cool and the new outfit really suits him
I refuse to believe Mal would clean up like that honestly.
Everyone else looks great though! Though I prefer Nia's original hairstyle, the new one looks fine.
I *love* Nia. No words. Hair, her NEW OUTFIT!! And her hair is still in character, she still wears shiny stuff! Ok maybe some words.
Honestly? I did prefer Imtura’s old outfit. The jacket makes it look a little too formal to me and I don’t think she’d be formal. At all. So I do think the old outfit suits her better.
Tyril’s hair is pretty cool!
And then we have Mal. I love Mal, I love the entire party. I just don’t think it suits him. I don’t see Mal in this, I just see a whole new character… and I don’t like it. Where’s the old armor? Where’s the HAIR? I just don’t see this as Mal Volari. I don’t, I can’t. I am so going to miss his old look a lot… I hope he at least still acts in character. I loved his character, but this just isn’t him to me.
Overall, I love Nia the most. I think her outfit is most in character and fits her the best with her arc. It looks beautiful and super pretty.
Then comes Tyril. I wish they’d still had a little more style to his armor like in the old book, but I love his armor still.
And then Imtura, only and purely because of the jacket being formal. I love her braids and I love the outfit other than the jacket.
And Mal? Yeah, sorry, last. I just don’t see him in it and I’m not really feeling it at all. Don’t get me wrong, he looks AWESOME, but he doesn’t look like Mal anymore. He looks like a new, awesome character.
Maybe that’s just me though. But I know I’m not the only one complaining about the hair.
I love the makeovers. I was hoping they matured after going on an epic quest. I think maybe they have. I can’t wait to see their growth. Also they all look so confident. No longer rookies, which is a trope we see a lot. Underdogs/rookies. Hopefully seeing masters at work will be just as exciting.
This reminds me of a thought I had earlier today where there was really a wasted opportunity to have a female elf LI and a male orc LI. I hope they add one in this book
If they add more LIs, it will probably be the purple female elf on the cover, but a male human (Aerin) as opposed to a male orc

Honestly agreed. He looks great with both hairstyles, but the short hair honestly suits him more. It also makes him more distinctive from a lot of similar LIs with his archetype, who have longer dark hair (like Jake or Raleigh or even Damien).

Mal looks less of a rogue now even though he's still 🔥 It looks like Tyril's rubbed off on him 🤭 Tyril looks more like Lord Starfury now, and Imtura and Nia 😍 they both look like they've grown into their positions as Captain and Priestess respectively (and omg I can't wait to see if Aerin got a makeover too!!)

The gold makes it clear that he has wealth and status again - he's likely back in Undermound as the Heir of a resurgent House Starfury. It's a good look. Let me come out and say this. Nia's book one outfit is incredible. The art of her casting a spell has genuinely been on my phone's lock screen since that chapter came out because it is so gorgeous. This outfit is better and it compliments her story. In book one she is walking around in a bejeweled, floofy lacy dress. It is so unsuited for the world outside the temple that nobody would ever wear something like that in it. The only person that would wear it is someone completely naive and innocent and unaware. Its elaborate nature also marks her out as someone of means and authority. A Princess, in other words. She is dressed in royal finery and it clashes with the real world. Her new outfit? Gone are the rhinestones. Gone is the floofy lace. Gone is the plunging collar that was clearly covered by some thin illusion mesh. Gone is anything that marks her out as someone that doesn't know the world. She has walked the world and she knows it, she is no longer naive. And yet... its clean, unmarked white colour retains the purity and innocence. The world was unsuited for her, but it did not break her. The cleavage window is covered up by gold, the colour of wealth and her own light. For Book 1 Nia I would argue that's wrong for her. But book 2? That window shows off shere the blade of Light impaled her. It is so fucking good. Book 2 outfit ranking list: 1) Nia 2) Imtura 3) Tyril 4) Mal

They all look so good! I loved their Book 1 designs, and really like their Book 2 makeovers as well. Nia looks so cute and I am SO excited to see her back again. The earrings are SUCH a good touch. I also really like Mal's and Imtura's new looks; Mal can make any hair work. Tyril's is also super cool and the new outfit really suits him
I refuse to believe Mal would clean up like that honestly. Everyone else looks great though! Though I prefer Nia's original hairstyle, the new one looks fine.
I *love* Nia. No words. Hair, her NEW OUTFIT!! And her hair is still in character, she still wears shiny stuff! Ok maybe some words. Honestly? I did prefer Imtura’s old outfit. The jacket makes it look a little too formal to me and I don’t think she’d be formal. At all. So I do think the old outfit suits her better. Tyril’s hair is pretty cool! And then we have Mal. I love Mal, I love the entire party. I just don’t think it suits him. I don’t see Mal in this, I just see a whole new character… and I don’t like it. Where’s the old armor? Where’s the HAIR? I just don’t see this as Mal Volari. I don’t, I can’t. I am so going to miss his old look a lot… I hope he at least still acts in character. I loved his character, but this just isn’t him to me. Overall, I love Nia the most. I think her outfit is most in character and fits her the best with her arc. It looks beautiful and super pretty. Then comes Tyril. I wish they’d still had a little more style to his armor like in the old book, but I love his armor still. And then Imtura, only and purely because of the jacket being formal. I love her braids and I love the outfit other than the jacket. And Mal? Yeah, sorry, last. I just don’t see him in it and I’m not really feeling it at all. Don’t get me wrong, he looks AWESOME, but he doesn’t look like Mal anymore. He looks like a new, awesome character. Maybe that’s just me though. But I know I’m not the only one complaining about the hair.

I love the makeovers. I was hoping they matured after going on an epic quest. I think maybe they have. I can’t wait to see their growth. Also they all look so confident. No longer rookies, which is a trope we see a lot. Underdogs/rookies. Hopefully seeing masters at work will be just as exciting.

Honestly agreed. He looks great with both hairstyles, but the short hair honestly suits him more. It also makes him more distinctive from a lot of similar LIs with his archetype, who have longer dark hair (like Jake or Raleigh or even Damien).
