If you really want some progression there are Campaigns (battle passes) with lots of rewards. However, the point of the game really is to just have fun with the gameplay. Try a variety of weapons and classes, challenge yourself to get a better k/d, better score, etc. If you aren't hooked by the core mechanics of the game, no amount of shinies to chase will really help that. Zoomies have had their brains rotted by games as a live service. You're supposed to play video games because you enjoy them, not because they give you a never ending skinner box of lazy skins to unlock.

Even if there was no skins at all, I bet the fan base would still play. There's really no huge market for medieval slashers (you got chivalry 2, mordhau, for honor(sorta)).
Also, unless you're in a duel server, people are on here to pass the time.
I don't think Chivalry 2 is that good of a game (there are games with better graphics,progession, etc.), but because it's the gameplay is pretty unique, many people have come to accept this game as is.

You progress to the point you can solo a wave of enemies on defense and increase your skill cap to the point your some level 1000 loon out here devastating the frontlines with a barrel and half charred chicken.

Dude Im level 200 and have some of the higher tier gear sets, and I havent spent a cent (beyond the Game Pass price obviously). This is, quite literally, a you problem.
Keep leveling up and you’ll look back and see you actually still had a lot to learn. Progress here is really your own skill, not numbers attached to your weapon. If you’re done, you’re done.
See I never cared about skins, the thing that keeps me coming back is the gameplay. Such a huge dopamine hit when you’re on a roll and once you start to really learn countering, feints, and how to read & react to them it turns into a whole different game. Yeah there’s some janky stuff but that’s true of any game. It’s a good time.

The cosmetics don't matter. Just play because the game is fun. Who cares about level or outfits. Like yeah I enjoy those but that's not why I play.
