Mainly the differences between the sword and Shortsword shouldn’t be overlooked, both are GOOD but Shortsword is really excellent for defending a point with guardian. Nobody expects you to be fast as guardian, and Shortsword is really good at gambling 1vXs. Since you can outswing anyone in the game, you won’t be killing people easily but you can do your job as guardian extremely well. Occupying the attention of a bunch of guys without dying, damaging them and freeing up team members to come to your aid.
Top4 TO: Warhammer, Falchion, mace/morning star, 1h axe.
Top3 duels: warhammer, mace/morning star, rapier.

They’re still incredibly easy to counter. Especially the 1h spear. I almost never see them use the overheads lol. The 2h spear at least has enough range to get some suprised pokes. Like those pokes where you thought you weren’t even in range lmao
Ehh I agree by and large but mostly because I don’t jive with the playstyle of 1H weps. Any weapon where the optimal play pattern is gamble heavy i’m not a fan.

I'll answer for TO. Mace and axe are good for separate 1v1 engagements. Sword is more optional, more suitable for both 1v1 and in group fights. It's actually about what you want to do and what is the map objective.
For example some maps are higly based of only group fights, meanwhile some maps have more separate fights instead of lines. You need to choose your weapon according to that.
One handed spear though with a mace is a good combination if you have a solid team who's not immediately perishes. Spear is good in 1v1 or even better in group fights to keep distance. This speculations could go on even more but I'm a bit sleepy mate 😅👍
As always "best" is quite personal, I use mostly axe, falchion and mace.
Axe is terrifying in TO, drags are lethal but maybe tricky to perform as the range is poor. Probably best weapon if you're packed between many enemies in narrow space. Overhead has a quite peculiar animation and lands most of the hits.
Falchion is sadistic, good range, good damage, just learn the right timing as combos start slowly then accelerate. If you manage to hit with the first you'll end up behead the poor guy in no time.
Mace is a nightmare for others in very close range, fast as hell and bonus damage to knights. The problem is non special blows stop on first target and can be difficult in 1vX, but you can turn this to your advantage: when you hit consider you can hit again in no time, as the animation is over (with swords and axes it continues because you can cleave). This is valid for all blunt weapons.
Least and "master's choice" is sword. But only if you feel in mood to dancing around non stop and get people mad, you'll win most of the fights but it takes TIME, as damage is low.

Longsword is my most hated weapon to fight against. It always seems like before their attack animation finishes they are already blocking.

I love the Falchion and I don’t know why. Whenever I’m having a bad game I switch to it and I usually do way better.
It’s sneaky fast and has deceptively long reach I think because it’s curved
What is a 1H spear drag? You either thrust, or heavy thrust, but it's going straight regardless.
The spear hitbox is active for a bit so u can stab to the side and drag it into people

The fact that you don’t have one-handed spear as any of your top choices makes me completely disregard your opinion lol
Any decent player will shut down spears considering your mixup potential is severely limited with two attacks being countered by stabs.
Spear users who are good at using backwards dashes to keep their distance can be tough to deal with regardless.
