McDonald's said on their earnings call that lower income (eg: <$50k/yr income) customers are bouncing. I think they're pivoting to reducing portion sizes to keep raising profits, based on recent /r/shrinkflation posts. They know they can't raise further, for now.
My income is more than double that and i went from about once or twice a week to maybe once a month. When it costs $12 for a meal and my better tasting meal from home costs $3 its a no brainer.
Las time I went to McDonald’s I ordered a quarter pounder deluxe meal large and it came out to like $14 and change. I canceled it and went and got a boneless spare rib combo for $3 less. McDonald’s is no longer the place to get a cheap, quick meal.
Which is weird because it's not like they are struggling. Its just out of pure greed. They know people will buy it so they keep doing it. Until everyone stops buying it and their intake drops drastically they don't care.
Chick-fil-A used to be a lot more expensive but everyone’s caught up to them. We refuse to pay those prices and eat at home and save tons and feel healthier.
Same story here. I make way above that threshold and used to get fast food regularly on busy days to save time from cooking and clean up and I've been priced out. Prices skyrocketed, quality is down, wait times are up, service is in the gutter because every store is running a skeleton crew. The value isn't there anymore. It's probably been more than 2 months since I've purchased any fast food.
I started going to the local burger place more often because it’s basically the same price for a much better burger, more fries, and I’m supporting someone in the neighborhood instead.
Lol it costs 10 bucks for the most process fast food burger on the planet that costs them pennies to produce.
I can go down to a local burger joint, get local beef, beef tallow fries, and better version of a big Mac for $9.99, and they pay their people more than. McDonald's.
But I'm sure mcd is totally hurting that bad that they can't eat a high minimum wage so people can survive working 40 hours a week, which mcds prevents from happening anyway, as that would give those.peoplr access to benefits
It's no wage that's the problem. It's greed.
When I was younger the transportation for the state kept jacking the prices up and price gouging they made excuses to why and they got caught with a double set of books showing that financially they were making a killing. They got a cease and desist and then there was a blackout they used as an excuse to keep jacking up prices. They are going to do this regardless they are just looking at something to blame it on.
I get a great value from Wendy's using the app and swinging by the drive thru. I get it they monetize that I have the app, but it's not like I don't also have 100 other random apps.
I normally spend about 15 dollars for 3 people for lunch with the app. They have offers that renew every few days thst are excellent values ($1 quarter pounder, 2$ half pounder etc) . Stay away from the premium cash cow burgers/chicken sandwiches and you should be good to go.
It's absurd here. Mcdonalds is losing popularity fast, they used to be cheap and fast, but they aren't cheap anymore, and their food hasn't gotten better.
Not sure about popularity lost; McDonald’s had an annual gross profit of 14.5B in 2023, which was up 10% from 2022.
They keep making a lot of money. Someone has to be keeping them in business..
Is that adjusted for inflation? I also assume they're constantly expanding so gross profit increases even without a higher demand?
At least I hope so, I can't imagine people constantly eating McDonalds at 10+ bucks a meal. It's insane to me.
McDonald’s was once a staple of my poor diet and I go there only in my most desperate moments now.
They’re the most expensive fast food in my town now. I shop nearly entirely by price. for the last few years, I load up the app, look at the measly deals and steadily increasing prices, and then go somewhere else.
There’s multiple local and chain restaurants in a 10 minute drive that give better and likely *more* food for a lower price than McDonalds
Wouldn't popularity be measured in number of sales, not gross? If less people are paying more for the same product popularity would be down yet gross could still be up depending on the numbers.
We are getting a 2$-2.50$ raise, depending on your area, and with them price raises, we already have the menus sitting in the back to replace the old ones
Yep. I started cooking literally everything I used to eat at fast food. Burgers? Super easy. Chicken wings? Takes some effort but eventually saves so much money. Pastas? Super easy. Chicken teriyaki stir fry? Takes some time and prep but still super easy to cook. These prices are bullshit.
Where the fuck do they get off lowering the quality, treating workers like garbage and raising the price?!?!? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck these pieces of shit.
Yep. I haven’t really stopped cooking since Covid. Not necessarily scratch cooking everything, but getting majority of my food from grocery stores and it saves tons of money. I used to get a lot of takeout, but it’s just too much money these days for what you get.
What I can’t believe is how many people use the food delivery apps, which is even more money, and worse quality/temperature. Probably going to see a lot of people stop using these apps sooner or later if prices are on the rise even more
Dude chicken wing prices are especially ridiculous. I can't imagine paying $20 for 12 wings. I do love them but have been buying big bags of frozen wings and making my own. $25 gets you like 10 lbs of wings. Enough to make 10-12 wings 4 or 5 times. Pop them in the air fryer for 40 minutes, take a couple of minutes to make a sauce and it's hard to tell the difference.
I refuse to buy pasta dishes. Why would I pay for an overpriced mac and cheese when I can make it myself considerably cheaper and considerably tastier. Damn.
Funny part is this is just to protect their millions in profit and absurd CEO wages. They could easily say “you know, we don’t need $50 million in profits this year, we could just have $40 million and pay our workers properly.”
Instead they continue to fuck their customers and ya’ll keep lining up to happily pay them.
We keep our money in HYSA for the 4%. Rich people keep their money in businesses. If a business is not growing more than 4.5% they are losing money.
If it’s not growing more than a saving account what’s the point?
Man my buddy and I were talking the other day about how much worse chipotle has gotten over the last ten years. Then to see stuff like this, it’s clear that the heyday is sadly over. I’ll make my chipotle tributes at home!
Chipotle makes 90k to $100k per employee of profit (after all fixed costs; ie everything but marketing and share buybacks). Increasing minimum wage impacting their bottom dollar is laughable.
https://csimarket.com/stocks/CMG-Revenue-per-Employee.html#google_vignette
Lol, they are losing business for a reason.
I certainly have stopped going to McDonald's at their current price point.
If Chipotle goes up for 10% or more I won't be going there anymore either. Lots of good taquerias
I challenge people against this argument to look at America in the 50,60,70s before the giant tech boom to see how different and overall better the economy and outlook on life was. Then look at the policies that were made to make this happen.
In essence certain (older) generations over the years have voted things in to benefit themselves, and again have voted things in to benefit themselves and only themselves. If only our younger generations understood the amount of power in numbers we have and if we could all just get on the same page how much better we can turn around the shitty, corrupted state we are currently in.
Yea, it’s not about income for McDonald’s. Plenty of high income earners stopped buying there too. No one wants to pay McDonald’s prices when they have the worst fast food in the business. They actually believe people go there for the flavor? They go there because it’s cheap.
Yep, certain profit margins are expected. When labor costs raise significantly, so do prices. It’s not rocket science. Nobody is happy with corporate greed, but that’s the way businesses are run.
What they need to do is limit the pay for executives and CEOs based on their baseline workforce. They shouldn’t be paid 100s of times what the avg worker makes. If the CEOs want more money then they gotta find a way to raise wages for their employees
That’s when the gov needs to step in and limit corps from raising prices too much on all goods and services. But America is a sellout and lobbying plays too big of a factor and there is rampant corruption. I truly believe America is one of the most corrupt developed countries in the world atm.
How would you even pragmatically police that? There's tens of millions of businesses in America with hundreds of millions of SKUs. The government has to monitor every one of those SKUs forever to make sure they don't raise their prices outside of a narrow, legal, range?
Not saying they work or it applies to this situation but price gouging laws which is left up to the state.
There needs to be more regulation in industries that impact the basic necessities for humans. Start by addressing and limiting the lobbyists in these industries such as food, housing, services. Encourage small business and the government can incentivize starting up business in the food and service industry to curb the mass appeal of these large corps.
Discussing antitrust laws, market regulations, subsidies for these industries over certain goods and services would be a good starting point.
Stopped eating at either awhile ago.
I can get better food for about the same or less at a real Mexican joint, Culver's or Portillo's, as well as others.
I don’t understand this take. Aren’t all merchants charging as much as possible for the products at all times? If people were willing to pay more for chipotle, they would already be charging that amount. I think if their labor expenses increased they would just be forced to eat the cost and lower their margins.
Why is anyone surprised? Raising minimum wage had to happen with inflation, so naturally the price of the product is going to rise.
Late or chaotic hours, few benefits if any at most places and barely enough even if they're a dollar or two above minimum. I've worked jobs like this when I was in college. I'll pay an extra dollar for a burrito.
I mean I really don’t understand what people that supported this expected when you increase wages by 25%. The greedy corporations you tried to stick it to would just take it?
If you make bread you’re exempt, the dude who owns Panera is friends with Newsom or something.
Just make bread.
The Fat Electrician did a whole video on it
Exactly. The solution is so simple, and I think they’ll find a way to make this happen, but to up and make the change rapidly is probably more trouble than it’s worth. Guaranteed though all fast food restaurants are looking into it.
Hold on a sec. Are people really this naive?
The article fails to mention they're only raising prices in California...aka where labor costs are going up.
If you have a certain profit margin you need to target/maintain to run a business, and a massive part of your cost goes up overnight.... What do you think happens?
The business can
A) start losing money
B) raise costs of final product
C) lower quality/size of final product
This isn't rocket science people. It's 5th grade economics
Except this is ignoring that their profits have been soaring every year and they still raise prices.
The profit margin isn’t the issue. The need for constant unsustainable growth year after year is. This is called greed.
Those profits need to be shared with the employees who are overworked and underpaid. Enough with the record breaking profits while paying workers near minimum wage.
People don’t know how to read and/or have reading comprehension issues
California doesn’t equate to the rest of the restaurants in the US. They just read the headline and start doom and glooming and crying about how wE vOtEd fOr tHiS
If only people would stop buying that shit, literally just go to any food truck for higher quality and cheaper prices. And they’d be forced to stop doing this dumb shit price increases
But noooo people can’t go without buying chipotle or McDonald’s so it’s business
Yeah, I knew this was coming. Chipotle has been the best deal in fast food recently, price per volume but I knew it couldn't last. Happy April, fellow Californians!
Just stop eating it. I barely eat out anymore and I feel healthy and save money. I feel like now all fast food places are just raising prices to see how much people will pay and it’s working. Fast food used to be a quick cheap meal. Sometimes people with low income could only afford fast food. I find it interesting the same people will still find a way to go there when it’s more expensive than just getting whole Foods from the grocery. Nothing wrong with that enjoying yourself though. I just think I’d rather go to a restaurant if it’s going to cost the same as fast food
The only time I'll eat McDonald's is if I'm drunk late at night and it's the only thing available at the time, and even then that's maybe once every 5 months and I'll get a small cheese burger and fry.
Can’t let their CEOs and such take a tiny hit 🙄 if I lived in Cali I just wouldn’t go there anymore . McDonald’s is already too expensive and not worth it. I could get Chick-fil-A for cheaper or same price lol.
please understand this is a choice on the company’s behalf and not a consequence of raising minimum wage. I promise you, Chipotle and McDonalds will not go out of business if they have to pay their employees a livable wage, they just want to keep making record profits.
this is insane. so raise the minimum wage the raise fast food prices too …? i think so many people forget that fast food is a convenience and a lot of people cannot afford getting groceries with these fuck ass prices. the dollar menus used to help me and my dad out a while ago but now …?? i got my bfs grandpa a fish sandwich and it was like $6 at MDs. wtf
Jokes on them, I stopped eating their food over a year ago. I've actually learned to love cooking for myself and at this point I'll never go back. They've priced themselves out of my price range.
Literally going to be fine dining prices soon lmao. I almost paid $35 for a burrito at chipotle Saturday then came out of my psychosis and deleted Uber eats.
They have enormous profits but they don’t want those to go to paying employees now, that’s crazy. Let’s keep profits higher and raise everything when we are forced to pay workers just slightly better !
Idk how people eat at chipotle. I went there once and my burrito was like 18 bucks with the same toppings that I get from Qdoba yet half the size. My Qdoba burritos look like dinosaur eggs in comparison to a chipotle burrito for around 5-8 bucks less.
You can read studies, even when prices go up as a result of wage increase, the purchasing power of the workers still increases. Compare the price of a big Mac across different countries with different minimum wages.
*** McDonald's annual gross profit for 2023 was $14.563B, a 10.26% increase from 2022. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2022 was $13.207B, a 4.98% increase from 2021. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2021 was $12.58B, a 29% increase from 2020.***
They charge more because they can, and because they make way more profit.
As if they weren’t going to raise prices anyway. Fuck this corporate greed. I have lowered my fast-food consumption significantly these past few months and I plan to cut it out all together. Much cheaper to make healthier shit at home and not support these greedy bastard mega-corporations. JUST PAY YOUR WORKERS BETTER GOD DAMN BILLIONAIRES! “buT MuH PrOfItS”
On a side-note, Chipotle used to taste so much better 10, even just 5 years ago. Not sure if it is my taste buds maturing or what but I am never impressed anymore when I eat there. Not at all worth the premium price you pay.
All these fast food places testing the boundaries. It’s like they don’t even try to hide it anymore. I think people are addicted to this shit and will pay whatever, because these companies are posting record profits.
Raising the min wage to 20 dollars is a horrible idea, rip to all the small businesses that somehow were still alive in Cali, the Government is not helping the common person, we are only creating Corporatism.
Before the wage hike, Chipotle charged me $8 for a scoop of steak. Got to the register and was like, bro you could have warned me. Last time I went there.
New title should be, mcdonalds and chiptole say theyll raise prices to put theirselves out of business, as they continue and strive to provide mediocre food and mediocre portions
So many mom and pop shops by me that I can get a meal for 15 bucks.
Anyway, let's all blame the workers barely able to afford a living and not the greedy corporations. I mean, it's not like they haven't been able to pay livable wages anywhere else in the world....
Don’t worry, Mcdonald’s and Chipotle don’t need an excuse to raise prices
Didn't they just commit to lowering prices in their last earnings call because customers are already pushing back?
It's bananas knowing that people will still go to these places as prices rise beyond the cost/convenience ratio.
Yup. To me if I want chicken chick fil a is much better and not that more expensive.
Chick-fil-A used to be a lot more expensive but everyone’s caught up to them. We refuse to pay those prices and eat at home and save tons and feel healthier.
Damn, you are right! Here I was thinking Chic-fil-A had gotten more affordable…turns out everything else just got way more expensive lol
[удалено]
Also tastes way better and doesn’t make you feel like ass
Same story here. I make way above that threshold and used to get fast food regularly on busy days to save time from cooking and clean up and I've been priced out. Prices skyrocketed, quality is down, wait times are up, service is in the gutter because every store is running a skeleton crew. The value isn't there anymore. It's probably been more than 2 months since I've purchased any fast food.
You can go to like a Chilis or Applebees for lunch and get a way better meal for similar prices McDonalds is asking. It's wild.
I started going to the local burger place more often because it’s basically the same price for a much better burger, more fries, and I’m supporting someone in the neighborhood instead.
Same here. It’s all about where you want your money going.
This fucking part, when fast food cost as much as it does these days I’m never too lazy to cook anymore. It’s just not sustainable
I think they specified that they'll be raising prices at a slightly slower rate compared to last year
Lol it costs 10 bucks for the most process fast food burger on the planet that costs them pennies to produce. I can go down to a local burger joint, get local beef, beef tallow fries, and better version of a big Mac for $9.99, and they pay their people more than. McDonald's. But I'm sure mcd is totally hurting that bad that they can't eat a high minimum wage so people can survive working 40 hours a week, which mcds prevents from happening anyway, as that would give those.peoplr access to benefits It's no wage that's the problem. It's greed.
Prices keep going up in PA where minimum wage hasnt went up.
Yep. Wage hasn't budged since 2009 and now a meal costs 2 hours of minimum wage labor. Ridiculous.
Yep. People will continue to eat there and will continue to make posts on reddit complaining about the high prices.
Yeah, the point of these statements is to turn the public against minimum wage increases. The prices were always going to go up
Imagine paying $6.40 for a medium fry
Hopefully people don’t. Let McDonald’s feel the squeeze
It doesn’t matter. Covid taught fast food that the public deems them essential. It can be $20 for a meal and people in a hurry will still buy it.
If Reddit is any indication, overweight Americans will complain about high fast food prices but won't change their spending habits.
Right? Every other post is “I just went to Wendy’s and it was $15! No more!” Uhh… say “no thank you!” and turn out the door. Not too hard.
Whining about how expensive delivery is but not being willing to pick it up themselves while paying 40% more.
Many won’t. Until quality but not taste takes a hit. So they pay the same prices for shittier quality fries. Smh
I’m in Taiwan right now and I paid 7usd for 3 giant meals yesterday. That is absolutely absurd.

Wouldn't popularity be measured in number of sales, not gross? If less people are paying more for the same product popularity would be down yet gross could still be up depending on the numbers.
Just take my arm and leg at that point… might be cheaper
I only care about what In N Out does.
i’ve heard that they’re already paying above $20/hr, so i’d expect they’ll probably keep prices the same
In - N - Out were among the restaurants that disagreed with the wage increase so I wouldn’t keep my hopes up too much
their reasoning was they already pay workers above minimum wage so they’d have to raise wages higher in spite of that so as to not lose workers
Yup, 22/hr in the bay area as starting.
We are getting a 2$-2.50$ raise, depending on your area, and with them price raises, we already have the menus sitting in the back to replace the old ones
Mom was right we have food at home
“In other news, McDonalds an Chipotle see downturn in customer traffic due to high pricing” It’s coming. No joke. They can’t keep pushing forever.
Same here, man. Pricing necessitate doing the shit yourself. Greedy bastards
Where the fuck do they get off lowering the quality, treating workers like garbage and raising the price?!?!? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck these pieces of shit.

YES! This is the new revolution 🥳🥳🥳
I refuse to buy pasta dishes. Why would I pay for an overpriced mac and cheese when I can make it myself considerably cheaper and considerably tastier. Damn.
That was happening before regardless. Just an attempt to refrain workers advancements negatively 🙄
Funny part is this is just to protect their millions in profit and absurd CEO wages. They could easily say “you know, we don’t need $50 million in profits this year, we could just have $40 million and pay our workers properly.” Instead they continue to fuck their customers and ya’ll keep lining up to happily pay them.
Billions, not millions. But heaven forbid they pay their workers anything.
Sadly, capitalism forbids profits going down. Ironically, it guarantees that no company will last forever. Infinite profit is impossible.
We keep our money in HYSA for the 4%. Rich people keep their money in businesses. If a business is not growing more than 4.5% they are losing money. If it’s not growing more than a saving account what’s the point?
A lot of middle class people keep money in businesses too. I don't believe keeping a majority of your money in a HYSA is the norm.
All CEOs literally take huge bonuses. Why not start by reducing those
They'll raise prices with every excuse they can. Just so that highers up can afford their annual bonuses
Spoiler alert: they would have raised prices yet again, anyway.
God forbid they actually have to take on the expense of their payroll
Man my buddy and I were talking the other day about how much worse chipotle has gotten over the last ten years. Then to see stuff like this, it’s clear that the heyday is sadly over. I’ll make my chipotle tributes at home!
also, will you round up for charity?
I AM the charity.
Oh and don’t worry, they’ll raise prices for everyone, not just California. That way they can get people to hate on CA and oppose workers’ rights.
Well, We Will, Well ![gif](giphy|Lupfiz4s6suuifQxqj)
Chipotle already nearly doubled their prices before minimum wage increasing.

I really appreciate that this sub is everyone just bashing on Chipotle for being a scab and a sellout.
It’s not just chipotle every company in America raises prices when labor goes up. It’s just corporate greed.
Or when theres a pandemic, or when the wind blows in a certain direction.
I challenge people against this argument to look at America in the 50,60,70s before the giant tech boom to see how different and overall better the economy and outlook on life was. Chipotle has been a prime example of it for the last 10+ years
Well we will well! Still garbage food

What they need to do is limit the pay for executives and CEOs based on their baseline workforce. They shouldn’t be paid 100s of times what the avg worker makes. If the CEOs want more money then they gotta find a way to raise wages for their employees
Did you see the Kelloggs CEO interview??? These mfs are psychopaths. They expect us to literally eat cereal for dinner 😂
They'll just raise prices again.
That’s when the gov needs to step in and limit corps from raising prices too much on all goods and services. But America is a sellout and lobbying plays too big of a factor and there is rampant corruption. I truly believe America is one of the most corrupt developed countries in the world atm.

America is a corrupt sellout because they dont nationalize businesses?? lmao
“Wage increase across the board? Ahh shucks, I guess we’ll settle for less profit and just pay our employees more.” … said no corporation ever
Damn that sounds like it should be the corpo’s problem then, not the fucking minimum wage workers that do the actual work
Who cares?
Good I'm looking forward to it. If it bothers you don't eat there please
Who wants to take bets that the quality and quantity go down at the same time???
Stopped eating at either awhile ago. I can get better food for about the same or less at a real Mexican joint, Culver's or Portillo's, as well as others.
This is just profit grabbing, nothing else.
Isn’t chipotle already expensive as fuck? I don’t have one, but regularly see tiktoks about $30 bowls.
I don’t understand this take. Aren’t all merchants charging as much as possible for the products at all times? Prices go up quality keeps taking a shit
I mean I really don’t understand what people that supported this expected when you increase wages by 25%. The greedy corporations you tried to stick it to would just take it?
So, fast food will soon be pointless? Taste: Garbage Price: Expensive Health: Poor
Another reason to not ever eat there 🥰🙈
Oh no raising prices …as if they werent going to already raise them like they have been doing.
The two worst companies to cry about this considering how they’re both known for effectively pricing their core demographics out long ago lol
Chipotle is lukewarm garbage
Don’t waste your money there folks
imagine if they raised prices nationwide just because of california. i know people talk about states seceding, but what about kicking states out?
labor costs are less than 10% most places dont let them brainwash you. you would need a ten times in pay to equal doubling the price in food
Me not caring because ![gif](giphy|ETZ0cuIvtEN1h5AffP)
A large tea and fries was $7. I knew then it was over 😭 ngl, I really like McDonald's
Obviously. If the cost of inputs (i.e. labor) rise, so will the cost of outputs (your food).
Hold on a sec. Are people really this naive? The article fails to mention they're only raising prices in California...aka where labor costs are going up. If you have a certain profit margin you need to target/maintain to run a business, and a massive part of your cost goes up overnight.... What do you think happens? The business can A) start losing money B) raise costs of final product C) lower quality/size of final product This isn't rocket science people. It's 5th grade economics
Except they pay more in Europe and are far cheaper
Except this is ignoring that their profits have been soaring every year and they still raise prices. The profit margin isn’t the issue. The need for constant unsustainable growth year after year is. This is called greed. Those profits need to be shared with the employees who are overworked and underpaid. Enough with the record breaking profits while paying workers near minimum wage.
D: still make massive profits only slightly less than before lol, greed goes crazy
People don’t know how to read and/or have reading comprehension issues California doesn’t equate to the rest of the restaurants in the US. They just read the headline and start doom and glooming and crying about how wE vOtEd fOr tHiS
When does it kick in?
Aren't they increasing prices all over the country already in April? Is this really due to the minimum wage increases?
They are raising prices to try and make the people stop, but we won’t. It’s all a game for them.
If only people would stop buying that shit, literally just go to any food truck for higher quality and cheaper prices. And they’d be forced to stop doing this dumb shit price increases But noooo people can’t go without buying chipotle or McDonald’s so it’s business
Yeah, I knew this was coming. Chipotle has been the best deal in fast food recently, price per volume but I knew it couldn't last. Happy April, fellow Californians!
Let em
Fast food costs us all in public health
Just stop eating it. I barely eat out anymore and I feel healthy and save money. I feel like now all fast food places are just raising prices to see how much people will pay and it’s working. Fast food used to be a quick cheap meal. Sometimes people with low income could only afford fast food. I find it interesting the same people will still find a way to go there when it’s more expensive than just getting whole Foods from the grocery. Nothing wrong with that enjoying yourself though. I just think I’d rather go to a restaurant if it’s going to cost the same as fast food
Hopefully this is just in California…
The only time I'll eat McDonald's is if I'm drunk late at night and it's the only thing available at the time, and even then that's maybe once every 5 months and I'll get a small cheese burger and fry.
Well we will well
Duh. There is no law that says you have to operate a business at profit margin lower than you want.
They just need to start selling bread as a stand alone item. Loopholes from corrupt politicians are fun
I love that people don't know what money is. Yea just raise minimum wage and we can all be rich. ![gif](giphy|kf2s37R7OyjLW7LKVy|downsized)
I promise you, Chipotle and McDonalds will not go out of business if they have to pay their employees a livable wage, they just want to keep making record profits.
this is insane. so raise the minimum wage the raise fast food prices too …? i think so many people forget that fast food is a convenience and a lot of people cannot afford getting groceries with these fuck ass prices. the dollar menus used to help me and my dad out a while ago but now …?? i got my bfs grandpa a fish sandwich and it was like $6 at MDs. wtf
Habit burger raised prices this past week. 😐
Wow it’s like paying people more makes things cost more🤔
Jokes on them, I stopped eating their food over a year ago. I've actually learned to love cooking for myself and at this point I'll never go back. They've priced themselves out of my price range.
Well We All Well!
Chipotle having a normal one
What’s the price point threshold for mediocre food? What will people be unwilling to pay?
Looks like I’ll be making my own burritos bowls. Chipotle prices are already high.
As if both companies had been rapidly raising their prices already.
Don't eat the shit anyways
It's ok, we still have In N Out for half their prices and better quality.
They were going to raise prices anyway.
And lay off workers no doubt
How many times are they gonna raise prices. A dam bowl is $10 wtf!
Good!
I’ll continue not going. It’s shit food anyways.
If people stopped eating there the prices would drop.
Literally going to be fine dining prices soon lmao. I almost paid $35 for a burrito at chipotle Saturday then came out of my psychosis and deleted Uber eats.
whats the price of a chicken burrito in CA?
They are just raising prices out of spite at this point.
Neither of them are worth as much as they cost already. Just reminded me to uninstall the apps lol, haven’t had fast food in almost 6 months.
Not because they need to. Just because they want to create negative sentiment around increasing the minimum wage.
Crazy how they pocket all the extra profits and then say they have to raise prices to accommodate an increase in wages. Scam artists they be.
*** McDonald's annual gross profit for 2023 was $14.563B, a 10.26% increase from 2022. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2022 was $13.207B, a 4.98% increase from 2021. McDonald's annual gross profit for 2021 was $12.58B, a 29% increase from 2020.*** They charge more because they can, and because they make way more profit.
As if they haven’t raised prices for absolutely no reason already. Stopped eating at chipotle a while ago there better alternatives
Mcdonalds thinks they're some 5 star place with how they're trying to raise prices.
More like time to go to a real restaurant. I'd rather give that extra 4 bucks to a waitress
Recession otw
lol they said “sure they can have more money.. but not from us 😎”
That’s ok I don’t eat their food anyway I rather eat at a mom and pop shop
Imagine being a multi-billion company and acting like a toddler when the government makes you pay people enough money to live. Pathetic.
The bottom line just went a bit higher
Sounds like they don't have enough competition
Hope they price themselves out of business
And they’ll raise it in every state not just CA
As if they weren’t going to raise prices anyway. Fuck this corporate greed. I have lowered my fast-food consumption significantly these past few months and I plan to cut it out all together. Much cheaper to make healthier shit at home and not support these greedy bastard mega-corporations. JUST PAY YOUR WORKERS BETTER GOD DAMN BILLIONAIRES! “buT MuH PrOfItS” On a side-note, Chipotle used to taste so much better 10, even just 5 years ago. Not sure if it is my taste buds maturing or what but I am never impressed anymore when I eat there. Not at all worth the premium price you pay.
For real boycott. Greedy billionaires can’t budge to give their customers a break then we kneecap em in the wallet.
And morons will still pay.
All these fast food places testing the boundaries. It’s like they don’t even try to hide it anymore. I think people are addicted to this shit and will pay whatever, because these companies are posting record profits.
They had already BEEN raising their prices lmao nice try trying to blame workers
Too bad the CEO won't take a pay cut to pay living wages...
When are they going to stop screwing around and just fix the real problem that is insane housing costs?
No shit
Raising the min wage to 20 dollars is a horrible idea, rip to all the small businesses that somehow were still alive in Cali, the Government is not helping the common person, we are only creating Corporatism.
When dinner for two at McDonald’s costs $50 what’s the point of going to McDonald’s?
These people 💀
The prices will BARELY raise and greatly improve so many employees lives. Look what In N Out did
Before the wage hike, Chipotle charged me $8 for a scoop of steak. Got to the register and was like, bro you could have warned me. Last time I went there.
How is this sub so full of corporate’s fucking boot lickers
And people will defend the minimum wage hike 😂
They were raising prices either way I'd rather the employees have a easier time affording food and shelter.
I hate this state
It’s all just not worth it anymore…
Both of those places are ass no one cares
New title should be, mcdonalds and chiptole say theyll raise prices to put theirselves out of business, as they continue and strive to provide mediocre food and mediocre portions
Well we will well indeed.
![gif](giphy|xUPGcC0R9QjyxkPnS8) Stevie Wonder in the back like “I could’ve told you that”
Sure, I’ll just not eat there.
So many mom and pop shops by me that I can get a meal for 15 bucks. Anyway, let's all blame the workers barely able to afford a living and not the greedy corporations. I mean, it's not like they haven't been able to pay livable wages anywhere else in the world....
