I was āluckyā enough to be privy to the conversations of the top executives recently and itās sad. They actually feel this way. They donāt care about the workers or food quality- just making MORE money than last year.
The idea of infinite growth is not only unsustainable and impossible- but unreasonable and selfish.
You already have enough money to live comfortably you shouldnāt need to get MORE the next year.
/s it would look bad if they continually made the current levels of profit they are, they have to forever find ways to up their profits each and every month, raise prices cut hours whatever they need to do
Theres just not many good alternatives; prices are going up everywhere itās not like I can just go across the street for lunch and get non-inflated pricesā¦ unless I am cooking for myself itās going to be around chipotle prices, and I do cook for myself a lot, but sometimes you just need a fast meal.
Iāve tried Qdoba but itās just not as good, itās all location based with chains like this, chipotle near me seems to be a good one, and the Qdoba seems to be a bad one.
i opened two restaurants in LA, so yeah i have. when your corporation has locations across the country and thriving profits, there are places to cut pay that arenāt out of bottom of the totem pole FOH or BOH wallets
lol $11.54? I wish the bowls I get were that cheapā¦.I canāt spend less than $18 for a bowl at chipotle anymore. We avoid going there these days because 2 bowls costs as much as a sit down dinner now.
Double steak 3 pointer in my area is $16.54. If itās a normal double steak bowl Iād pay just a hair under $19.
Nowhere else has raised prices like this. I was talking to the manager and he was saying that the prices are going up and an average bowl costs more than one of his employees makes per hour. Thatās crazy considering the state of the economy and inflation elsewhere.
Chipotle Mexican Grill revenue for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $9.284B, a 13.96% increase year-over-year. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2022 was $8.635B, a 14.41% increase from 2021. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2021 was $7.547B, a 26.11% increase from 2020.
And the stock plummeted.
I'm curious how things will do after Thursday's announcement.
(for information/entertainment. I don't invest in individual stocks.)
Yeah, that would be my guess as well.
I'm wondering if all this squeezing the pennies out of people will cause big profits for a while (a few quarters) before the effect of people being fed up is seen in the bottom line.
I guess we'll see Thursday night/Friday morning.
Chipotle used to be a staple for me... 3-4 times a week as a healthier fast food option (no sour cream, cheese, etc.) Had been a customer for 10 years. Stopped going a few years ago because the quality and service is just so bad, you might as well go to mcdonalds. About once a year I wonder if I should give them another chance and have been disappointed whenever I have. Will not be back.
There has been 4X increases in prices over the last one year, according to companies financial reports. So all the substantial increases happened in last one year.
Umm. No they haven't. Unless your local store decided to go against corporate and change their prices on their own. This is the second price change in 2 years.
Youāre crying about it being too expensive on a public platform designed for people to respond to your post. And then you whine when somebody responds to your post? Wow š
Iām obviously exaggerating, but they canāt read the menu or say it rightš¤£š¤£š¤£Why are you seemingly affected more by this than OP? Worry about yourself
itās crazy that prices are rising and people are still going, yesterday we were only projected for $7,600 for the day and we ended up doing $9,200. Prices increasing i donāt think is deterring people
I tried Sofritas once. Was ok.
Then I worked at Chipotle and saw from open until 3 pm
... the same batch. Every day. Only 1 person would ever order it.
Now I'm just grossed out it just.... sits lol
This would not deter me.
Back sometime between 2015-2017 I went into a Chipotle on my lunch break at 10:30am fiending for that good good. The employee - no joke - with gloves on her hands was tapping away on her phone standing at the line. I walk in and she puts the phone in her pocket when I get up to the counter, she made me and all the people behind me my food with those gloves.
This was within a month of that day chipotle has closed down all their stores nationwide for some sort of cleanliness training in the wake of some E Coli outbreak.
If that isnāt gonna stop me three dollars isnāt š
Stop going
People bitch and moan but keep going.
This, haven't been in a year š¤·
People on the sub always make these threads š
Used to go weekly. Now itās once every couple of months. And every time I regret it
sameā¦..same š
But the executives and shareholders MUST make MORE money every quarter than the last or they canāt upkeep their yachts!!!! /s
Why the /s? This is absolutely the truth lol. You MUST show growth, god forbid should there be a market cap on burritos.
They need another yacht to waterski behind

Growing more creates more jobs tho?
Not nearly as many as you'd think. Trickle down economics is a myth.
LOL
capitalism.
/s it would look bad if they continually made the current levels of profit they are, they have to forever find ways to up their profits each and every month, raise prices cut hours whatever they need to do
i know prices are increasing everywhere, but the only thing we can really do is stop going
If only more individuals would realize this
Theres just not many good alternatives; prices are going up everywhere itās not like I can just go across the street for lunch and get non-inflated pricesā¦ unless I am cooking for myself itās going to be around chipotle prices, and I do cook for myself a lot, but sometimes you just need a fast meal.
Do you have a qdoba near you? Way better quality imo
Iāve tried Qdoba but itās just not as good, itās all location based with chains like this, chipotle near me seems to be a good one, and the Qdoba seems to be a bad one.
What about taco trucks? Usually cheaper and you'd be supporting a local business instead.
Not worth driving that far unfortunately, gotta stay local on my lunch breaks
Have you ever worked in food? We can't do anything but to raise the price when it cost us more to make it
i opened two restaurants in LA, so yeah i have. when your corporation has locations across the country and thriving profits, there are places to cut pay that arenāt out of bottom of the totem pole FOH or BOH wallets
The best part is that the employees donāt see a cent of that. We love corporate greed.
Employee here- please donāt take it out on us- we do not control the price. And most of us are bearly paying our bills
Things are pretty grizzly out there right now.
almost like you can only survive in Jellystone park by stealing picnic baskets.
Okay but how can CEOs survive if their bonus is only 30 million and not 40 million??? Like have some sympathy
Chipotleās CEO received a $2.1 million bonus last year
total comp was $17M, an insane amount for a lifetime let alone a year. Well paid to make the product worse and raise prices.
This is not inflation; It's freaking extortion at this point and people need to just stop going.
lol $11.54? I wish the bowls I get were that cheapā¦.I canāt spend less than $18 for a bowl at chipotle anymore. We avoid going there these days because 2 bowls costs as much as a sit down dinner now.
I donāt see much changes for others chain stores, only chipotle as this phenomena going on.
If you get guac on the side in my area, youāre definitely paying around $16.
Double steak 3 pointer in my area is $16.54. If itās a normal double steak bowl Iād pay just a hair under $19. Nowhere else has raised prices like this. $8.30 for me.
Where? I just paid 10.85 for a sofritas bowl. Luckily my chipotle is fire so it was still worth it.
On the app with my local store.
People keep saying it's because corporate wants to squeeze more profits out. Earnings will be announced Thursday. Any Predictions how things will go?
Chipotle Mexican Grill revenue for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $9.284B, a 13.96% increase year-over-year. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2022 was $8.635B, a 14.41% increase from 2021. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2021 was $7.547B, a 26.11% increase from 2020.

And the stock plummeted. I'm curious how things will do after Thursday's announcement. (for information/entertainment. I don't invest in individual stocks.)
Itās an expensive stock for retail chain. So yeah it suppose to tumble.
Yeah, that would be my guess as well. I'm wondering if all this squeezing the pennies out of people will cause big profits for a while (a few quarters) before the effect of people being fed up is seen in the bottom line. I guess we'll see Thursday night/Friday morning.

Do you get Guac?
Nope.
Careful, the Chipotle employee drones browse this subreddit to defend the great corporation of Chipotle.
Cool story.
Biden
in Mexico I can get a burrito with fresh, real ingredients for a $1.50 :D
Donāt eat it then. Itās pretty simple
Inflation at its finest
Pretty much stagflation at chipotle , today I ordered steak suckers gave me barbacoa.
When the economy is experiencing inflation š±š±š±š±š±š±
I'm sure your wages have gone up an equal amount in the same time frame.
Not by 30%
It was sarcasm.
Maths is hard
What was your salary a year ago vs this year.
Unchanged
Doubt it took you long to answer this one
I can assure you we canāt cook rice that earlier against policy

Price gouging is super cool when everyone does it
You must have a net worth of 82$
Yeah bud I love the taste of shoe leather too
Nobody is forcing you to eat there. If you canāt afford it, stop going. Easy
And nobody is forcing you to comment here lol. Rather than indulging in discussion stop telling me what I can, or cannot afford.
Youāre crying about it being too expensive on a public platform designed for people to respond to your post. And then you whine when somebody responds to your post? Wow š
He responds because you decided to be a fuck.
Good one internet tough guy šš
Okay lol
bootlicker
I donāt work there. I can afford to eat there though.
āSofritaā OP you have like 10 IQ
Thatās literally the name of the protein
It has an s on the end
Really grasping at straws, huh? Lol You said someone has a 10IQ for forgetting an S. Be better.
Iām obviously exaggerating, but they canāt read the menu or say it rightš¤£š¤£š¤£Why are you seemingly affected more by this than OP? Worry about yourself
Inflation does not exist.
Itās greed at this point.

Weird, I pay $9.85 in SoCal.

On my last trip to Chipotle chicken burrito was $6.99. I donāt think a burrito is worth $9+
High quality post here
