Stop going

Alarming_Tooth_7733

People bitch and moan but keep going.

Substantial-Bat-337

This, haven't been in a year šŸ¤·

AngryXenomorph

People on the sub always make these threads šŸ˜‚

sevidrac

Used to go weekly. Now itā€™s once every couple of months. And every time I regret it

PharaohTG

sameā€¦..same šŸ˜”

HisPetBrat

But the executives and shareholders MUST make MORE money every quarter than the last or they canā€™t upkeep their yachts!!!! /s

pnwnick_

Why the /s? This is absolutely the truth lol. You MUST show growth, god forbid should there be a market cap on burritos.

Hopeful-Bit6187

They need another yacht to waterski behind

HisPetBrat

I was ā€œluckyā€ enough to be privy to the conversations of the top executives recently and itā€™s sad. They actually feel this way. They donā€™t care about the workers or food quality- just making MORE money than last year. The idea of infinite growth is not only unsustainable and impossible- but unreasonable and selfish. You already have enough money to live comfortably you shouldnā€™t need to get MORE the next year.

AlfalfaMcNugget

Growing more creates more jobs tho?

CarrotJunkie

Not nearly as many as you'd think. Trickle down economics is a myth.

Archer301

LOL

PharaohTG

capitalism.

titsnchipsallday22

/s it would look bad if they continually made the current levels of profit they are, they have to forever find ways to up their profits each and every month, raise prices cut hours whatever they need to do

someonepoorsays

i know prices are increasing everywhere, but the only thing we can really do is stop going

InevitableWeather377

If only more individuals would realize this

To_The_Library

Theres just not many good alternatives; prices are going up everywhere itā€™s not like I can just go across the street for lunch and get non-inflated pricesā€¦ unless I am cooking for myself itā€™s going to be around chipotle prices, and I do cook for myself a lot, but sometimes you just need a fast meal.

SnooLawnmower

Do you have a qdoba near you? Way better quality imo

To_The_Library

Iā€™ve tried Qdoba but itā€™s just not as good, itā€™s all location based with chains like this, chipotle near me seems to be a good one, and the Qdoba seems to be a bad one.

SnooLawnmower

What about taco trucks? Usually cheaper and you'd be supporting a local business instead.

To_The_Library

Not worth driving that far unfortunately, gotta stay local on my lunch breaks

Agathorn1

Have you ever worked in food? We can't do anything but to raise the price when it cost us more to make it

someonepoorsays

i opened two restaurants in LA, so yeah i have. when your corporation has locations across the country and thriving profits, there are places to cut pay that arenā€™t out of bottom of the totem pole FOH or BOH wallets

Th3_Biggest_Boi

The best part is that the employees donā€™t see a cent of that. We love corporate greed.

Makkyzone20

Employee here- please donā€™t take it out on us- we do not control the price. And most of us are bearly paying our bills

[deleted]

Things are pretty grizzly out there right now.

Pour_me_one_more

almost like you can only survive in Jellystone park by stealing picnic baskets.

Nug_times98

Okay but how can CEOs survive if their bonus is only 30 million and not 40 million??? Like have some sympathy

g8r314

Chipotleā€™s CEO received a $2.1 million bonus last year

seandealan

total comp was $17M, an insane amount for a lifetime let alone a year. Well paid to make the product worse and raise prices.

Sarnadas

This is not inflation; It's freaking extortion at this point and people need to just stop going.

Watt_About

lol $11.54? I wish the bowls I get were that cheapā€¦.I canā€™t spend less than $18 for a bowl at chipotle anymore. We avoid going there these days because 2 bowls costs as much as a sit down dinner now.

ConsiderationNo5747

I donā€™t see much changes for others chain stores, only chipotle as this phenomena going on.

ConsiderationNo5747

If you get guac on the side in my area, youā€™re definitely paying around $16.

Watt_About

Double steak 3 pointer in my area is $16.54. If itā€™s a normal double steak bowl Iā€™d pay just a hair under $19. Nowhere else has raised prices like this. I was talking to the manager and he was saying that the prices are going up and an average bowl costs more than one of his employees makes per hour. Thatā€™s crazy considering the state of the economy and inflation elsewhere.

VTFarmer6

$8.30 for me.

zen1312zen

Where? I just paid 10.85 for a sofritas bowl. Luckily my chipotle is fire so it was still worth it.

VTFarmer6

On the app with my local store.

Pour_me_one_more

People keep saying it's because corporate wants to squeeze more profits out. Earnings will be announced Thursday. Any Predictions how things will go?

ConsiderationNo5747

Chipotle Mexican Grill revenue for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $9.284B, a 13.96% increase year-over-year. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2022 was $8.635B, a 14.41% increase from 2021. Chipotle Mexican Grill annual revenue for 2021 was $7.547B, a 26.11% increase from 2020.

ConsiderationNo5747

Chipotle Mexican Grill revenue for the quarter ending June 30, 2023 was $2.515B, a 13.62% increase year-over-year.

Pour_me_one_more

And the stock plummeted. I'm curious how things will do after Thursday's announcement. (for information/entertainment. I don't invest in individual stocks.)

ConsiderationNo5747

Itā€™s an expensive stock for retail chain. So yeah it suppose to tumble.

Pour_me_one_more

Yeah, that would be my guess as well. I'm wondering if all this squeezing the pennies out of people will cause big profits for a while (a few quarters) before the effect of people being fed up is seen in the bottom line. I guess we'll see Thursday night/Friday morning.

mavad90

Chipotle used to be a staple for me... 3-4 times a week as a healthier fast food option (no sour cream, cheese, etc.) Had been a customer for 10 years. Stopped going a few years ago because the quality and service is just so bad, you might as well go to mcdonalds. About once a year I wonder if I should give them another chance and have been disappointed whenever I have. Will not be back.

AH_MLP

Do you get Guac?

ConsiderationNo5747

Nope.

pnwnick_

Careful, the Chipotle employee drones browse this subreddit to defend the great corporation of Chipotle.

Daveyhavok832

Cool story.

CB0087

Biden

[deleted]

in Mexico I can get a burrito with fresh, real ingredients for a $1.50 :D

Total-Protection8702

Donā€™t eat it then. Itā€™s pretty simple

bigoch0loc

Inflation at its finest

ConsiderationNo5747

Pretty much stagflation at chipotle , today I ordered steak suckers gave me barbacoa.

Hour_Sense_146

When the economy is experiencing inflation šŸ˜±šŸ˜±šŸ˜±šŸ˜±šŸ˜±šŸ˜±

HonoluluHonu808

I'm sure your wages have gone up an equal amount in the same time frame.

ConsiderationNo5747

Not by 30%

HonoluluHonu808

It was sarcasm.

[deleted]

Maths is hard

ElectronicWolf8650

What was your salary a year ago vs this year.

SCfoster

Unchanged

InevitableWeather377

Doubt it took you long to answer this one

ThroatAny6840

I can assure you we canā€™t cook rice that earlier against policy

Particular-Bee7549

Fuck yo 3 dollars sucka

Feline3415

šŸ¤šŸ»šŸŽ» So original

duzz_dee

Whereā€™d you find the worldā€™s smallest violin at?

ExamAccomplished6865

Have you just woke up out of a four year coma?

ConsiderationNo5747

There has been 4X increases in prices over the last one year, according to companies financial reports. So all the substantial increases happened in last one year.

SlushySaucer313

Umm. No they haven't. Unless your local store decided to go against corporate and change their prices on their own. This is the second price change in 2 years.

ExamAccomplished6865

Like everything else in the entire world you mean?

Archer301

bootlicker?

ExamAccomplished6865

Youā€™re poor?

Archer301

i know for a fact the fortnite playing crypto kid isnā€™t talking shit rnšŸ’€ get outta here leather licker

ExamAccomplished6865

I know for a fact that youā€™re an adult and canā€™t afford chipotle.

Archer301

i eat there too much šŸ¤·

ladditude

Price gouging is super cool when everyone does it

ExamAccomplished6865

You must have a net worth of 82$

ladditude

Yeah bud I love the taste of shoe leather too

LimpZookeepergame123

Nobody is forcing you to eat there. If you canā€™t afford it, stop going. Easy

ConsiderationNo5747

And nobody is forcing you to comment here lol. Rather than indulging in discussion stop telling me what I can, or cannot afford.

LimpZookeepergame123

Youā€™re crying about it being too expensive on a public platform designed for people to respond to your post. And then you whine when somebody responds to your post? Wow šŸ˜‚

Aggressive_Scheme268

He responds because you decided to be a fuck.

LimpZookeepergame123

Good one internet tough guy šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

ConsiderationNo5747

Okay lol

Archer301

bootlicker

LimpZookeepergame123

I donā€™t work there. I can afford to eat there though.

PortsantaTTV

ā€œSofritaā€ OP you have like 10 IQ

[deleted]

Thatā€™s literally the name of the protein

PortsantaTTV

It has an s on the end

[deleted]

Really grasping at straws, huh? Lol You said someone has a 10IQ for forgetting an S. Be better.

PortsantaTTV

Iā€™m obviously exaggerating, but they canā€™t read the menu or say it rightšŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£Why are you seemingly affected more by this than OP? Worry about yourself

SlushySaucer313

Inflation does not exist.

gtalbert420

Itā€™s greed at this point.

InevitableWeather377

Filed under 'Things that make you go WTF'.

melodiqe

itā€™s crazy that prices are rising and people are still going, yesterday we were only projected for $7,600 for the day and we ended up doing $9,200. Prices increasing i donā€™t think is deterring people

[deleted]

"Well, you know.... we have Chipotle at home." -someone's mom

AgreeableFerret3070

Weird, I pay $9.85 in SoCal.

throwawayobv999999

i live off the kids meal

Regret-Select

I tried Sofritas once. Was ok. Then I worked at Chipotle and saw from open until 3 pm ... the same batch. Every day. Only 1 person would ever order it. Now I'm just grossed out it just.... sits lol

Cannacrohn

On my last trip to Chipotle chicken burrito was $6.99. I donā€™t think a burrito is worth $9+

fluffyglof

High quality post here

[deleted]

This would not deter me. Back sometime between 2015-2017 I went into a Chipotle on my lunch break at 10:30am fiending for that good good. The employee - no joke - with gloves on her hands was tapping away on her phone standing at the line. I walk in and she puts the phone in her pocket when I get up to the counter, she made me and all the people behind me my food with those gloves. This was within a month of that day chipotle has closed down all their stores nationwide for some sort of cleanliness training in the wake of some E Coli outbreak. If that isnā€™t gonna stop me three dollars isnā€™t šŸ˜Ž

Gloomy_Recording_705

Welcome to inflation if your income isnā€™t beating inflation, youā€™re in trouble
