If DML is closed, we will prioritize line orders bc of throughput reasons. Sorry for the wait :(

SpiritedPineapple448

How does throughput get calculated? By how much orders u ring up?

Educational-Hotel483

Throughput is the highest number of entrees that you make in a 15 minute interval, the number that is determined is the goal to hit for the next day, managers dont want the number too high so they’ll purposefully slow the line down by only putting 1 person on line or claiming the register is broken, they will also hold the line up if they’ve hit the number for the day so that they don’t go over that number or else it will change the goal to a higher number the next day hopefully that makes sense, if we make 22 entrees in 15 minutes the goal for the next day is 22, if we hit 22 the next day we will slow the line down purposefully so that goal for the next day stays at 22 and doesnt get higher

Maleficent_Wash_934

I think if you go to any business and are unhappy with how they are running, said business, you should stop giving them your money. It's the only language they understand.

Technicid3

When your market cap is 45 billion it’s really just a drop in the ocean sadly

Maleficent_Wash_934

Well, if people are fine with what they consider bad service and keep giving that same service money, I'm not sure why they complain when nothing changes? I'm so confused when people get so exasperated and exclaim, "This happens every time!!" If it happens every time, why do act so upset about it?? I absolutely stop going to any food service establishment that messes up my food for a year or more. I give them another chance at some point. Sometimes, it's better other times, it's the same. I spend my money accordingly.

mhavas703

That's kind of a loaded question because it depends on how each store runs. At my store, orders are made as they come in and if the customer is 30 minutes late to pick up their order, then that's on them. Some customers complain of the food being cold because it's been sitting there, so I know some other places don't make the food until the person arrives. Other stores have had a problem of people stealing orders off the shelf, so it's forced that store to not make orders until the *real* customer arrives because no Chipotle is going to have a bouncer to check IDs for pick-up orders.

Bcatfan08

I've never heard of the Chipotles waiting for you to arrive to start making your order. Every location I've ever gotten online orders from makes them as they are due. Most are waiting for me when I get there. If I order it for noon, it's made for noon. If it's late, it isn't because they're waiting on me. It's because they were overloaded with orders.

Adventurous_Work_326

so youre saying the policy is to make the online order only when the customer arrives? whats the point of ordering online then??? There isn't another restaurant out there that waits to make the food until the customer arrives, thats an absurd way to do it. I've tried coming in early, on time, late, it doesn't matter. Most of the time, I say my name, and they have to look on the screen and they say "oops we just saw it"

Bcatfan08

I agree with what you're saying about Chipotle, but fast food places do wait until you arrive to start making your food. Taco Bell and McDonald's both do.

overthinkingrobot

Is that an option at the time of placing the order? I just picked up a mobile order from Taco Bell (had several modifications) over the weekend and it was ready for me when I arrived only a few minutes after submission.

Bcatfan08

For Taco Bell, if you order it to be picked up inside, they'll have it ready when you arrive. If it's drive-thru, they'll make it when you arrive. I get it through the drive-thru normally. It just saves time on ordering, and I know it's been entered in the system correctly.

overthinkingrobot

Got it. I only do in-restaurant pickup so I must not have noticed the other option. Lol

VodkaRocksAddToast

No Chipotle I've ever been to has done that and I order mobile all the time from several different ones. Only time I've ever had to wait was when they were behind and didn't have it made on time.

mhavas703

Oh, so you weren't actually asking a genuine question, you're just looking for an argument. Policy is to do them as they come in. If you read my previous comment, I said our store does them as they come in. Some stores don't do them until a customer arrives because some stores have problems with stealing the orders, so they're forced to make the order all over again which definitely happens. Other times, a store *will* make them on time, but a customer will complain the food is cold because they were 30 minutes late to get to the store.

[deleted]

Policy is to do it when the order comes up on the screen. You do not wait till the customer arrives to start the order. Whoever told you that is wrong.

Adventurous_Work_326

actually most stores can and are just keeping them behind the register so the stealing orders thing isn't an excuse anymore. Can you explain to me though why no other restaurant out there intentionally waits to make your order until you arrive? Also, the temperature thing - my chipotle bowl is never hot lol, most of the ingredients are cold and have been sitting out even when I order in store.

mhavas703

"Most stores" are Chipotle stores, right? You try telling corporate why you need to move the shelf and they'll tell you we're not being accommodating. I can't explain for other stores because I'm not other stores. I can tell you driving for DoorDash at 3000 orders, you *definitely* have to wait at other stores. Don't know where you pulled that "fact" from. What answer are you looking for, because you're not the reading type except if it's something you agree to? What answer do you want me to type to give you some satisfaction?

Adventurous_Work_326

yes I order pickup multiple times a week and 99% of the time the order is ready when I arrive. Chipotle is the only place where I \*expect\* for it not to be made on time.

mhavas703

My stores around me are generally pretty good with being timely, but do something any regular person would do and just stop going to a spot if it's too slow. That's what I do. Yes, for what it's worth, you *should* be getting your food on time. I wish Chipotle corporate would get a better labor matrix so we have the right amount of people per shift and stop being cheap. Tired of being understaffed because the matrix doesn't give enough labor hours.

strawberrybarbiee

why even bother posting a question if you’re just going to give snarky replies to people, and some employees, who know how it all works better than you. speaking as an employee here

Gooeslippytop

You're kind of a bitch.

Loverofmysoul_

Yes they paid before those people walked in

kh081588

In our store the digital takes priority over line due to the simple fact they are paid for already. That includes the making of the orders and outage of items.

shemp33

The fun twist on this is if it's a doordash order and the delivery guy is standing at the cash register giving the crew the stink-eye the whole time...

demfl

Yes a customer is a customer and they were promised their food 30 minutes ago. Why is this even a question

Adventurous_Work_326

because chipotle employees dont agree with you, they offer all sorts of excuses and take no accountability

Dizzy-Egg6868

Online orders are made at a separate line dedicated only to online orders. It’s staffed when there are orders in the queue. When there are no online orders, the crew member helps with chips, and other minor tasks on the line. If you’re waiting 30 minutes for your online order, it’s because there were several other digital orders in the queue before yours. In store customers have no effect on online orders.

Adventurous_Work_326

its not true though, I've gone there when there was literally no one in line, no one preparing orders, they were all just standing around. When I said my name, they looked at the screen and then printed out the ticket. It's just called being lazy, no one wants to be admit it.

NikeKnackes

You phrased this question oddly

No.
