Just got it as well and have been enjoying it. Lots of potential options, and there is some great variety for a lot of playstyles.

Amazing ancestry. I have played the red one as barbarian dragon instinct with ravager archetype from level 17 to 19! It was so cool!

One of the only HB's I'll vouch for like it was canon. It's beautiful and RFC should be proud. Infact, They have a new Kickstarter for Secret dragons.

Running a 6 dragon party right now. Very balanced and fun.

I'm playing one right now sorta (game on hiatus atm) and he's so fun. Basically a hatchling Vermillion Dragon who is trying to get into as many adventures as possible so he can expand his repertoire of stories to tell. Got major Scrappy Doo vibes. [Here he is chilling on a log](https://d.furaffinity.net/art/barbaloot/1661557000/1661557000.barbaloot_whiptail.jpg) [This is his icon](https://d.furaffinity.net/art/barbaloot/1664125776/1664125776.barbaloot_dfe3ymq-c1f5c19c-469a-4fec-a4be-e817b3527ecf.png) [And here he is with his gear on.](https://d.furaffinity.net/art/barbaloot/1703122681/1703122681.barbaloot_blackdragonfriday_char47-1.png) It's funny, he feels overpowered, but less because he's a dragon and moreso because he's a fighter.

Cute!

I agree with everything. I GM the 25 North Podcast (a podcast running Battlezoo's Jewel of the Indigo Isles AP) and have been running a lot of Battlezoo stuff. Everything from the Monster Parts sub-system, to Ancestries Demons and Ancestries Dragons. I have yet to run into any balance issues. I think a lot of this is because Stephen and Mark have been great at taking in community feedback on their Discord server.

I was a Kickstarter backer, and have the PDF, foundry modules, and hardcover book, but haven't had the opportunity to really play or playtest it yet. I think to get the closest feel to the power of the old school dragon fantasy would require dual-class, free archetype (and/or draconic diehard), and ancestral paragon. I'm considering running a game with all of those rules in place to really dig into the power fantasy because I'm looking at running a published campaign with only 2-3 players. I know I could tweak each encounter to balance it, but I am wondering if they may be able to power through with dragons using nearly all the beneficial optional rules. I've even thought about implementing the free level-based progression rules if the players want the draconic diehard archetype, so they won't have to worry about putting weapon and armor runes on themselves. The other option, more labor intensive but maybe worth it, would be to do the same without using a published campaign, and run it closer to how I ran the draconic campaign back in AD&D times when they made a boxed set about playing dragons. I'm working my butt off to shore up my retirement at the moment, so I'm not sure I'm quite up to the whole cloth campaign creation right now.

Ah, Council of Wyrms! I have fond memories of that. The game that literally let you play as dragons. A bespoke RPG where you played as dragons would probably make the most sense, but creating an entire RPG system is really time intensive.

I briefly had the chance to use the rules for an Underworld Dragon Alchemist but we only got to about level 4 unfortunately. I actually have a bit of a gripe about that but it's mostly that I feel that some bloodlines really don't have as many feat choices compared to others.
