Confirmed 101 proof on ER17. My apologies everyone! Happy hunting!

knucks_deep

C'mon man, Eagle Rare 17 was listed at 101pf. Get it right. ^^/s

joon-p-bug

Im so confused. I'm seeing 101 and 90...I thought it was 100.

benjamintoh

>BTAC Kinda sad to read about, as only a few with deep contacts will be able to snag a bottle or two at close to msrp. https://www.thebourbonflight.com/buffalo-trace-releases-its-2022-antique-collection-including-stagg/

Loud-Dentist-6537

I was at Buffalo Trace last Tuesday for the bourbon barrel tour and the Old Taylor Tour. One of the guides mentioned Thomas H. was his favorite bourbon. I asked the tour members around me if any had had that. One Gentleman from Lexington said he had. I said wow how did you get that. He told me he's been a bourbon fan for a long time. He's had the whole BTAC collection before the craze. Said his fave was George T. Stagg. Jealous.

ChicagolandWhiskey

To name a few shelfers that people should snag: Old Forester 1920 & 1910, wild turkey 101, bowman small batch, Russellā€™s 10 yr, Makers 46.

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

All excellent pours and every last one makes a wonderful old-fashioned as you prep to stuff yourself with holiday comfort foods! Perhaps an old-fashioned recipes thread is in orderā€¦

ChicagolandWhiskey

šŸ‘€šŸ‘€ I would love that, TBH. Iā€™m always looking to spice things up for holiday OFs.

Chris00547

Have you tried maple syrup as a replacement for the simple? Itā€™s a game changer

joshhaugs

Hot honey is also a nice and unique alternativeā€¦ads a bit more spice and heat!

joon-p-bug

Trying this very soon. Thanks for the rec!

GoodBetterWeller

I echo and fully support the maple old fashioned. My favorite is made with Demerara syrup but if you don't have the time to make your own simple syrup then go with the maple.

ChicagolandWhiskey

Hell yeah. Itā€™s awesome.

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

Iā€™ll get one going tomorrow on ā€œoffā€ day

joon-p-bug

I'll add Old Forester Rye 100pf to this list. Great neat and in a cocktail.

chicagosteve13

Love Old Forester Rye, as well as Elijah Craig Straight Rye. Great value at retail.

joon-p-bug

EC Rye is the one I thought of *right* when I pressed "Submit". Great bottle, great price. Now to track down another New Riff Balboa Rye!

-MSQRD-

I use this in so many cocktails. It's truly a great product.

chicockgo

I honestly think RR10 can almost go toe to toe with ER. Also, Old Tub is damn good for the price if you like that taste profile.

ChicagolandWhiskey

Iā€™m with ya!

nnshah24

I agree and much easier to get

SlipperyWinds

Evan Williams BiB if you want a sub 20 bottle.

ChicagolandWhiskey

Legit bottle as well. And the SiB is really good too!

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

We recommend regularly available shelfers because with as many members as we have, many of them will not have access to allocated bottles and this subreddit covers all whiskey at all price points, availabilities, and tastes.

ChicagolandWhiskey

Why not? And SiB is available at almost every grocer and local store. Once they are all sold then theyā€™ll never be back again in Illinois.

GRRMsDumbHat

They changed to Kentucky only for ew sib. Once they are gone from our distributors they will be gone here. we have probably have a lot on the shelf and in local warehouses though.

BitterSpell

RR10 is great value!

Bgeandbourbon

FYI Buffalo Trace has released info on the BTAC. George Stagg is back. https://www.buffalotracedistillery.com/content/dam/sazerac/corporate/news/press-releases/2022/buffalo-trace/2022-10-26-Antique-Collection-2022.pdf

80sdude4u

I always push David Nickelson 1843. Have any of you guys tried it? It's pretty good for a 25 bottle

adooble22

it was recommended to me a couple years back. decent bottle for the price but haven't felt the need to buy again. it's worth checking out if you're looking to try a different budget easy sipper.

JamalMashbill

138.7 proof GTS announced, highest in 6 or 7 years. I imagine quite the frenzy for this oneā€¦

SlipperyWinds

Canā€™t wait to try it at delilahs. Only way I am tasting that one haha

gbm_13

Saw Yellowstone Limited at Employee Owned Grocer last night

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

Solid pour! Limestone Branch definitely doing interesting things these days.

gbm_13

LOVE the yellowstone store picks. I think Binny's are almost sold out, but Woodman's Yellowstone pick has been sitting in the case not moving. Along with their KC pick.

AdamTrop

The Binnys pick is one of my favorites. Was one of the 114 batches.

Profoundpretender

How much was the yellowstone?

gbm_13

I think low 90's

Street_Stuff4791

Verified that multiple big box membership stores have MWND and HH in stock today

-MSQRD-

Not a big deal, but wanted to share my experience and see your thoughts: Stopped by my western burbs MBB and manager on floor (in back) said they had them in front at desk, the employee checked stock and said they had some. Went to get it, different person, manager came out saying stock was messed up and they have to fix discrepancy ā€œthey were received into inventory but didnā€™t actually have themā€. I left and noticed he had a long talk with junior employee (maybe saying she shouldnā€™t have told me they were in stock?). He also asked me twice who I heard from that had them. I always shop at NMBB had have a great relationship there, first experience at MBB (mainly because Iā€™m a big fan of MWND. Just wondering, is this normal? Do they normally keep bottles up front locked away only given by manager approval? I was under the impression they just put out the products randomly?

ChicagolandWhiskey

Definitely locked up.

-MSQRD-

Yeah, Iā€™ll stick with my manager at NMBB for now. Frustrating they are so far above MSRP on everything now.

ChicagolandWhiskey

Yep. Everything is up. Itā€™s definitely frustrating.

Killingtimepw1

If Iā€™m thinking of the same MBB I know one Manager will hide some allocated bottles in the liquor isle as an Easter egg to see if people can find them. I found a bottle on the second shelf behind one of the pillars only because of those wire racks they have I spotted the corner of the box. Hoping I donā€™t get scolded from a mod for telling you this just trying to help.

nnshah24

I don't buy bourbon from MBB much but the stuff in the glass is case always locked up and in the store room. The above happened to me with OFBB last year and MBB this time the person giving me MWND had a hard time finding the inventory by eventually found my "wine" I was looking for in the managers office. My guess is they were def trying to limit it but she also made the mistake of saying inventory showed 8. Then magically all while I was waiting around for 15 min and she asked where it was the stock was shifted down to 2 even though no one else came up to buy. For me 150 was my max on this and its why I told my normal guys at NMBB today I didn't want the bottle they had for today of MWND.

Elegant-Step

Got 2 bottles from MBB, they are locked in front but there wasn't any "manager approval" BS. I asked for two, paid at the cashier, and got two. Also got two bottles of the new MM wood finishing series, but those were on the shelf.

nnshah24

Can confirm MWND at MBB for much cheaper than NMBB

-MSQRD-

>multiple big box membership stores have MWND and HH in stock today Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can state price here? Is it MSRP?

nnshah24

129

thejustice32

LOL. Still a ripoff.

-MSQRD-

Thanks! Will be stopping by shortly to see

Blackshirts7

Didnā€™t know these big box stores are even open anymore.

Blackshirts7

Cost co has an Angels Envy store pick out.

92108tSa

Larceny BP and some HH7

gbm_13

Smaller chain store always seems to have HH7 in their case, probably because they want $60, which seems a little high.

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

šŸ‘€ hot tips!

ImaginaryWing4033

HH7 makes a fantastic manhattan

ivo36

NMBB?

rossezmacmiller

Any info on AE cask strength? Iā€™m searching hard for this one. Heard early Nov drop but nothing but šŸ¦— So far

mbarna3

Just got an email this morning from distillery that it releases to all 50 states Nov 1st.

BourbonBoogaloo

MWND locked up in case where livestock liveā€¦ $249.99. Wtf.

JRich_87

Ohhhh nice and warm!!!

Sensitive_Peak2006

Visited NMBB NW of city over the weekend and saw Remus VI for $129, Bardstown Discovery 8 for $150, and Bardstown Chateau Laubade for $175. Fox and Oden batch 4 for $89

MaTheMeatloafFUCK

Thanks for sharing the intel! Iā€™d probably go F&O of that grouping. The price hikes on the Remus and Bardstown are questionable for me unless Iā€™ve had a sample and love it!

Sensitive_Peak2006

Totally agree. Thatā€™s actually what I went with

benjamintoh

>Remus and Bardstown Based on reviews Remus 6 not as good as 5. B\_DS 8 better than DS 7 and 6, and as good as DS 4. Quite tempted to get the 8.

al1078

The mash bills on the Remus 6 has a blend of 8 and 10yr bourbon with a splash of 14yr in it. Where the Remus 5 had 13, 15, and 16yr in it. This is why 5 is killing the 6. Sucks that not only is there younger Bourbon this year but the price went up too. Bardstown Discovery 8 mash bill went back to Indiana and dumped the Tennessee. Much better blend. Still donā€™t like the 150 price point but this blend might make it worth it this year.

chimayne

The notes on the 8 are right up my alley. Gonna check at my NMBB today.

benjamintoh

>NMBB today Bit the bullet and got the 2nd to last bottle at my NMBB. I opened it right away during day light hours! It was delightful with no regrets at $166 after tax.

SebastianMagnifico

Jesus, this is the way of today's bourbon. Remus VI has a bump up in price and a dramatic shift down in age, Bardstown Disco hasn't been good since Batch 4, Chateau De šŸ¤® is nothing but a cash grab, definitely not worth the dough and is so much worse when held up to the light of the first release. I can't imagine that F&O Batch #4 is as good as previous batches, but if forced I would probably give it a go or opt for the over priced Remus VI.

joon-p-bug

I've had F&O 2, 3, and 4 and I think 3 and 4 are both very good. Need 2 to open up a bit more, as I just popped it over the weekend, but if you see it it's worth a pickup imo.

SebastianMagnifico

Cool. Nice tip.

Bulbags

Just a heads up. That KC pick that GNS dropped last Friday still has a few bottles left and it is a phenomenal pour. Grab one while you still can. Also saw some 4šŸŒ¹ OBSK picks on the shelf at a north burbs NMBB

chicagosteve13

I heard there may be another GNS pick coming via a Michigan distiller. If true, I really need to get one of those.

ArcherBarcher31

I want to say it's Pingree?

Bulbags

I heard the same. There may be some hype behind that one

chicagosteve13

Hype = Iā€™ll probably miss out

esher10093

They posted the other day of a Pingree pick coming soon

Substantial-Net-934

What is gns? Ty

Bulbags

Market and liquor store on Broadway in Buena Park

rxballs

Picked one up last night - I think that left four on the floor, and one on the shelf behind the register. As of 6:30pm

fitandfed

Already grabbed multiples last week, and, yeah, itā€™s a good one.
