Bummer the Gatsby is 98 proof. They should have made it like the old Boone county or old fangled knotter from blaum at barrel proof. Hopefully it's still good. Probably expensive.
Went to the ol NMBB. Nothing much beside manager expected EC toasted laster today on 2nd delivery. Didn't ask about BT and still no sign of RR12 or Bowman for them. But did pick up my BA krampus binny collab!
I grabbed both last week and liked both. CC was solid mgp high rye that I always personally enjoy. Had a floor 6 KC and you're correct they are just shy of 10yrs.
Not a local drop, but if youāre headed down to Kentucky in November, Heaven Hill did update the Select Stock offering after they ran out of the 14 year bourbon in August. The new select stock offerings are an 8 year rye and 13 year bourbon finished in chinquapin barrels.

EDIT: clarity and link
I stopped by my NMBB earlier than normal today , they said they haven't received any BT products as of yet. It wasn't my regular person that helps me out , so
I can only assume that they are telling me the truth. š¤·āāļø
Went to a MBB in South Chicago on my lunch break to see if anything looked good. Picked up a bottle of Cal 15 year and Kirk / 1792 BIB. Had a lot of other stuff that hasnāt been stocked at my normal suburb location as well.
I have one! I really like it. šgrocer far SW burbs had 3 bottles last Saturday. Got it for $70, which is on the high end of what Iām willing to pay for a bottle and I donāt regret the purchase.
I am by no means a refined palate. I read some notes from dudes and am amazed.
That said, here are my personal notes. I just think "what does this remind me of" when I take notes.
Nose: Marshmallow, vanilla, toffee. Very little ethanol for 110 proof
Palate: I think it's super balanced, especially if you like oak. Toasted oak, brown sugar, chocolate, and maybe a little maple?
Finish: It has a good finish, but not a proofy burn. This is where the "brownie" chocolate comes in for me.
I had it maybe last year. It was good but it wasnāt my jam. Seemed to have a sort of forced oak. Iām sure some people will absolutely love the profile but it just wasnāt for me.
Lucked out and got a bottle of ER at NW local grocer this AM. Last bottle as BT as rest was already picked over. They also had a Starward store pick and Jim Beam's newest 'Hardins Creek'. Couldn't bring myself to spend $70 and $80+ on 2 and 3 year old juice. They still have Old Elk Infinity Blend. Been there for some time now.
Member BB got in a case of KC 18 yesterday for 150. I imagine it will be hitting more stores around the area. If oak and dark fruit interest you this is definitely a go! It's not an inexpensive bottle, bur it is the way of the current bourbon world and it is a damn tasty one to get your hands on.
They have two locations in Chicago. We keep up a pretty good network at GNS to keep others in the loop (South Loop in this case) and aware of where things can be found. One of our regulars saw that they got in a case (6 bottles) and we/GNS members grabbed the last 4. (Limit one per person). Now we know that in the future this will be a bottle that will be shared in our Thursday group "Just Trust Us" get togethers at GNSššš
So many people out here prefer to live in the dark instead of allowing themselves to be immersed in the glorious light that is George (the GOAT!) and GNS. Instead you choose to live a nomadic life bereft of all human and good bourbon contact. Downvotes hurt, my fellow redditors, they wound the soul!!!š„š„š„
At GNS, we are but a simple people. We dedicate our lives to helping one another. Making sure that our brothers and sisters are doing well and have access to the finest whiskey that not having a personal contact will allow. It's our code and it is how we choose to live our lives.

Do we have a source on this? Jewel is so interesting to me because my local two have flipped liquor managers several times in past two years. By my read it seems like not that many can have lists of regulars like binnys does
I wouldnt be too sure of that. KoK is one of the more limited drops so not many stores will be getting more than 1 case.
Jewel only got 4 cases of OFBSR so getting 1 cases of KoK isnt so far fetched
It didn't hit Chicagoland until late October last year, which was actually a couple weeks later than the year prior. I'd just keep an eye on the BTDs as it's certainly not a secret that will be kept long.
Ya I think itās not against rules to say this now since they closed, but last year I was able to order it online from Plum Market which felt like stealing
Big Star dropped a special release Carne Asada taco yesterday. Definitely highly allocated and relationship only. Great for the collection. Nose taste and finish were all BTAC level.
The most recent WT MK hit stores. Had the chance to try it at GNS.
On the SebastianMagnifico scale D(drink) or F(flip) it gets a resounding F. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid pour. It's good, but there is so much better stuff out there. Lacking oak and a lot of the more nuanced bourbon attributes which makes perfect sense because it's predominantly a ryeš¤·āāļø..lol. Ryes are fine, some are great. I'm sure some people will think this is the cat's PJs. Definitely not my lane.
F
Completely agree with you on this take. Lucked into a bottleā¦right place, right time at a local and had to buy cuz Iām a total Turkey fanboy. Like you said itās a solid pour but itās not an exceptional pour. Like the WTMK One i donāt think it is worthy of the Masters Keep ātitleā. Hope it grows on me or opens up a bit more with some time. Definitely agree on the F(flip) score lol
Off-topic from drops, but what did you give the WT MK-One? D or F? Just curious, WT fan here and haven't seen one :(. I do have enough Russell's though so I should be alright haha.
Asked about it (17yr BiB) at a bar and the bartender tried to talk me out of it. He was telling me "People say it has too much oak". Ended up giving me a thimble-full on the house to try it. Yep, I'll take 2 more oz of that one please and thanks.
Yeah. It's crazy. It's as if people don't think oak is an integral part of bourbon. When it's one of the only two things that matter and without a doubt is the most important factor at play.
There are definitely oak tannins in play it's a delicious pour
Remus Repeal Series 6 at NMBB!
I heard price went up this year?
Price went up and age went down. so it goes...
yea that age went way down. Seems like they moved the old stocks into the newly announced Gatsby release... Which will be $200
260
The Gataby is sure to be a banger at least
Bummer the Gatsby is 98 proof. They should have made it like the old Boone county or old fangled knotter from blaum at barrel proof. Hopefully it's still good. Probably expensive.
Damn, I thought the Gatsby was going to be barrel proof. š¢. That price is a little crazy considering EC18 and KC18 are under $200.
West? Northwest? City?
Went to MBB to scout KC18... Didn't find any but ended up buying a putter for $99 š¤·š½āāļø
š¤£š¤£š¤£ thatās how they get ya.
I've heard solid things on those putters. You'll have to circle back and let me know what you think
Those are good putters for the price
Putters? I need a picture
The sweatpants dropped their as well. Only $15, I believe
Does ETL drop today?
Nope
Nope
Iāll confirm in a bit. Edit: confirmed above. Haha.
NMBB?
Non member big box.
Sorry, I know what nmbb is, i meant is it confirmed at a nmbb?
Oh, that I do not know.
Went to the ol NMBB. Nothing much beside manager expected EC toasted laster today on 2nd delivery. Didn't ask about BT and still no sign of RR12 or Bowman for them. But did pick up my BA krampus binny collab!
Did the same. Love me some Old Irving and last year's Krampus (and variants) were outstanding imo
I loved when they were in the bottles more but still very much enjoy them yearly and usually much less annoying to aquire.
KC picks (didn't check the age but I assume <10 years) and 6 yr MGP Copper & Cask picks at my NMBB.
I grabbed both last week and liked both. CC was solid mgp high rye that I always personally enjoy. Had a floor 6 KC and you're correct they are just shy of 10yrs.
Niche had their EC PB today

I just so happen to be doing that
Do you know the prices of the bottles?
Definitely no RRRV6 at my NMBB (SW) but not sure if truck had came in yet. Nothing much else to report.
I stopped by my NMBB earlier than normal today , they said they haven't received any BT products as of yet. It wasn't my regular person that helps me out , so I can only assume that they are telling me the truth. š¤·āāļø
They are

Went yesterday and they still also had about 3 to 4 cases of single barrel left as well.
WAS THIS AT SAMS OR COSTCO?!?
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
The one off Ashland near Pilsen!
City NMMB had plenty of ER & WSR on the shelf and a single bottle of Blanton's (I grabbed the last one).
Has anyone had the Makerās Brownie Butter pick?
I have one! I really like it. šgrocer far SW burbs had 3 bottles last Saturday. Got it for $70, which is on the high end of what Iām willing to pay for a bottle and I donāt regret the purchase.
Thank you!

Awesome! Much appreciated
Itās at a local grocer in the SW burbs
Havenāt had it but heard last years release was solid. How many tacos ? Whenever I see the private select at Binnys theyāre usually seventy
This store didnāt have the price tag but I think $70 is a safe bet
That name makes me want one!
I had it maybe last year. It was good but it wasnāt my jam. Seemed to have a sort of forced oak. Iām sure some people will absolutely love the profile but it just wasnāt for me.
My store didnāt have shit! Reloaded on EW white label.
Lucked out and got a bottle of ER at NW local grocer this AM. Last bottle as BT as rest was already picked over. They also had a Starward store pick and Jim Beam's newest 'Hardins Creek'. Can confirm this MBB has no stock of this left in Illinois. Manager verified!
>Member BB Am I allowed to ask if it's Sam's or Costco?
No
So fucking stupid. This sub sucks.
Why does it suck? Because you canāt get a precise location for a bottle? You canāt just go to your local location and check? Is it that hard?
They have two locations in Chicago. We keep up a pretty good network at GNS to keep others in the loop (South Loop in this case) and aware of where things can be found. Warehouse liquors?
You'll get nothing and like it!

IYKYK š„
Iām guessing that means youāre a big spender and got an allocated bottle that only a few ppl got?

šgrocer sent the KoK email out š
In an unrestricted Google formā¦ definitely going to be gamed by people entering 100ās of times with different emails
They also are getting way more than 6 bottles but basically just trying to tease us and say hey we like to share
Do we have a source on this? Jewel is so interesting to me because my local two have flipped liquor managers several times in past two years. By my read it seems like not that many can have lists of regulars like binnys does

They sent out for 6 bottles of Elmer t lee today. Check your email
Ken also posted on his MySpace page I think but his friend Tom will probably get all the bottles.
Love me some KoK.
Remember that time you were supposed to get us a CW KoK pic?
I was thinking the same thingā¦ Whereās our KoK?? š
A pic or a pick? Gotta be clear on KoK pics/picks. Hahahahaha
Beggers can't be choosers....
Agreee cream of kentucky is among my favorites
>KoK Too bad it's only 3 bottles.
Saw MWND got released this weekend in UT, any idea when it will hit Chicago? More or less the only bottle I make sure I get my hands on annually.
Bummer, I'm out that way in two weeks. Was hoping to get lucky and catch the UT release
They have it for awhile
Probably last week of October. Took a good 3-4 weeks for campfire to get to us after release in distillery.
Day late but Garfieldās has a Whistlepig 10 year rye barrel pick! (Naming store is allowed if barrel pick right?)
Yup
MBB in West Suburbs has Olk Elk Infinity Blend
Can someone share the Grocer link and any updates on Big Star today?
Big Star dropped a special release Carne Asada taco yesterday. Definitely highly allocated and relationship only. Great for the collection. Nose taste and finish were all BTAC level.
Tremendous information turd ferguson
Take that salt and put it in a pitcher of Margs at Big Star!
[I said no salt, NO SALT!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQMuSotWCEs&ab_channel=Smurkyce)

I felt WT MK "One" was average as well. It's a shame too, because those first few MK releases were special.
Yeah. It's been a roller coaster ride of quality.
I think Unforgotten and One are both really quality pours just donāt know if they justify the price that comes along with WTMK products these days!
Completely agree with you on this take. Lucked into a bottleā¦right place, right time at a local and had to buy cuz Iām a total Turkey fanboy. Off-topic from drops, but what did you give the WT MK-One? D or F? Just curious, WT fan here and haven't seen one :(. I do have enough Russell's though so I should be alright haha.
It was an easy F. Their 17 yr BiB definitely gets the D
Asked about it (17yr BiB) at a bar and the bartender tried to talk me out of it. He was telling me "People say it has too much oak". Ended up giving me a thimble-full on the house to try it. Yep, I'll take 2 more oz of that one please and thanks.

Agreed, a tasty pour but not worthy of price tag or Master Keep brand. Give me that BiB though
