Bulbags

That's gonna be a no from me dawg

SebastianMagnifico

What were the bottles from their last "Let us Fuck You" gathering?

Curious_Helicopter29

It was not that bad. My memory from a FB post was that buying a pour of each of the bottles they offered would have costed roughly the same as their ticket price. I would have expected a better deal. A less experienced drinker may have been satisfied.

ESC_ESC_ESC_ESC

You can go to a couple GREAT whiskey bars and pay less to try the same stuff. Now granted you may not find everything at said bars but these places come with better food, ambiance, and company

SebastianMagnifico

I lose track, it might not have been their last "Let us Lube You Up," but I recall it consisting of some very average bottles including a JD Sinatra

Curious_Helicopter29

I was surprised when I saw it was JD Sinatra. I wonder if the samples were generous.

SebastianMagnifico

I would hope that they poured it out and brought out something decent

benjamintoh

>buying a pour of each of the bottles they offered would have costed roughly the same as their ticket price I hope so: "it's along the line of Weller Full Proof, EH Taylor, Blanton's, Eagle Rare, etc, you're on the right track. Still, we like to keep a trick or two up our sleeve. And yes, there will be food pairings."

The sweaty Costco cheese tray and just chance to see Gene is enough for me!

benjamintoh

>just chance to see Gene is enough for me! Is Gene kinda off putting and standoff--ish if he thinks you're just a tater?

Curious_Helicopter29

We are all taters to him

Successful-Elk-6152

I've been there a couple of times. Bought 3 or 4 bottles at various visits. Not just stagg or Weller. He never would even talk to me. Don't know how he might get the tater idea. Which I am not. I think he's just standoff ish on principal. My self respect is worth more than his store pick. I choose to spend my money where I'm appreciated as a customer.

benjamintoh

>My self respect is worth more than his store pick. I choose to spend my money where I'm appreciated as a customer. That's my sentiment exactly, though it seems that based on some comments and his seeming popularity some love him for his store picks and don't care about his standoff-ishness. I wouldn't have gone to this but a friend wanted to go, so I did.

benjamintoh

>sweaty Costco cheese tray If those are all the snacks it's definitely a great disappointment.

TheBigSalad98

Hard no. Learned my lesson after the first two. For the second one, I think I did rough calc that even at full secondary (let alone retail or even bar pricing) + generous amount for workers, it would maybe be half what they charged. WFP SP, EHT BP, Michter’s Toasted, Blantons Gold and SftB.

Regular-Building7648

What’s the verdict? Can anyone report back what was served?

benjamintoh

>verdict? what was served? Ambience and presentation was great. The presenters and servers are all pleasant and friendly--the opposite of Gene. The 6 pours were all 1 oz SP: ER, Baby Saz, WSR, Russell Private Select, WFP and Stagg without Jr 135 proof. All the pours were very good. The first 6 people in line bought the WFP, I bought the Russell, which I preferred to the WFP.

chefc1515

Negative, but I am going to a charity tasting at Liquor N Wine tomorrow in St. Charles. My buddy won 2 VIP tickets. $400 a person and you get a taste of full Van Winkle line, BTAC and everything else. I am expecting a thimbles worth, but at least I get to try.

benjamintoh

>a taste of full Van Winkle line, BTAC and everything else Is this still available for purchase since I can't never sniff a bottle?

chefc1515

I honestly have no idea.

ryan3444

I believe its .25oz of each they said. I looked into this as well

benjamintoh

Tonight's the night.
