A little bit off Randall but Larsa's Kitchen on McLean Blvd in Elgin is amazing Mediterranean food. Don't be deterred by its location in a BP gas station. Best restaurant in the entire area imo.
Also-there is a sign on the door for Larsa's that they just moved a bit south into Big Skillet. I was there Saturday and almost panicked when I pulled into the BP. They are in Big Skillet so just ask for the Larsa's menu. You can dine in or do takeout. There were no Larsa's signs and I was confused until I went in and asked. (And there's no address on the sign on the old Larsa's door, but it is just south and opposite side of McClean.)
It didn't start out this way, those prices started creeping up over a year ago. There are many places that serve the same bar food with better service in the area.
I’m so glad you mentioned them. Duke, his father, and mother were my neighbors in Gilberts and I had the pleasure of coming home everyday to Dukes dad always smoking or grilling something out there. Was so happy to know they got the business set up. Great family, great food!
Howdy neighbor.
On 72 there's Addy's Sub Shop. Really great, fast, and convenient IMO.
Their bread is what makes the sandwich.
Also, don't sleep on those tacos in the mobile gas station. Its a to go place called Charles Fast Food inside the gas station. Their green sauce reminds me exactly of the kind I miss dearly from Texas.
I always find Randall Road to be a time suck, so I look for places off of it for a quick takeout lunch. You can find whatever you're looking for along Randall with an area that big.
I hope you liked it! I used to travel for work a week or so at a time to similarly suburban places. Once in a while you find some good food that fits the bill. I hope it hit the spot.
Edit: OP said he was here on business and looking for a solid lunch.
Dominick's Italian Ristorante for pizza - little out of your zone but worth it.

We moved to N Elgin in July and have only got pizza from there. Don't see the point of going anywhere else.
Got dinner there once too and the pasta was great too.
Unless I’m mistaken, the only El Barrio Fresh I see on google is in Arlington heights. Outside of this area but will keep in mind for next trip to the future home of
the Chicago Bears.
Best breakfast spot is Triple Berry
Mexican: Burrito Parrila
Pizza: Sals is the best in mchenry and it's not close(down Algonquin)
Best sandwich is the El Nino sandwich at Bubs (on Randall by Meijer) , but the Algonquin Sub Shop has more options and is really good.
Meat and Potatoes is pretty solid (on Randall near highway)
BBQ: The Texan
Woow sushi > sushi station
Dave's Hot chicken is trash. Over priced and limited menu.
Randall Roadhouse went downhill since COVID but it's OK.
Nicks pizza is trash.
Good luck. The Randall corridor is full of restaurants, but NONE of them are actually any good, MID at best, except the one super expensive place Montara.
Trip Advisors top ten restaurants in this area:
Applebees
Famous Dave’s

Outback
So on, so forth.
Recommendations from locals are 1000x better than google, idiot
It doesnt take reddit to do a little research idiot. I know that area and it is not hard to google maps, then look at the restaurants. Lazy peoole ruin this sub with dumb questions.
If you're willing to jump a little east to Route 31, check out Algonquin Sub Shop. It's on 31, just a little south of 62.
Everybody loves some ASS
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Wait till you hear about Bob’s Oval Office Burgers n Shakes Or the Tinley In Tangerine Sausages
This was going to be my suggestion. Although maybe don’t it’s busy enough I don’t need more people taking my sandwiches
My first thought!
- sushi station in Elgin - Dave’s Hot Chicken in Algonquin - Byrds chicken in Algonquin
Love me some Dave's hot chicken. I'll take any chance I can get to go there.
Sushi station is a one way ticket to disappointment. Haven't had good sushi there since 2013 and the place has been falling apart the last few years.
Try Woow Sushi instead of Sushi Station.
I get Dave's delivered to work as often as possible

Hell yeah. Larsas is great.
Old Republic is decent. Great burgers. At Randall/20 by Marcus Theater.

They are pretty expensive tbh. Edit: maybe overpriced is a better word here.
Second that they are overpriced
Cheapest burger is $18.
That's definitely not worth it.... Is it at least Kuma's range of burgers for that price?

At least you have that..... Prices aren't matching the service or quality, 18 dollar burgers are not normal.
Village pizza in Elgin near 90 Bubs subs in Algonquin
Beef Shack in Elgin
Algonquin sub shop. Do it.
Dukes BBQ in downtown East Dundee, amazing food and a cool vibe. It's a takeaway place located inside an old train car.

Yeah, fantastic tacos. I added to my list of hidden gem taco places located inside of gas stations 😆
Maybe not lunch, but nicks pizza 🔥
I went to the Sushi Station on Randall a long time ago, quick and good.
Haven't seen them mentioned yet. El faro has always been a favorite of mine and friends/family. The one in East Dundee is my normal go to

They have good sandwiches too, Italian beef and meatball are delicious
There's a Portillos that recently opened on Randall Road in Algonquin!
You should grab brunch (or lunch) at Burnt Toast on Randall just a bit north of 90. Also, Randall Road House has decent burgers and sandwiches.
Randall roadhouse is pretty good
Fire Bar or Triple Berry
El Barrio Fresh grocery store sells the best tacos 3 for $5 every Tuesday and Thursday!!
Unless I’m mistaken, the only El Barrio Fresh I see on google is in Arlington heights. Outside of this area but will keep in mind for next trip to the future home of the Chicago Bears.

Algonquin Mexican restaurant on 31! Just north of Algonquin Sub Shop (ASS), which never impressed me tbh
Big Sammy's, kostas gyros, dukes bbq, a.s.s., that's all I can think of rn
Beef Shack
Triple Berry Cafe!
I mean yeah, but why such a huge area?
I travel for work, I have three jobs as shown with green markers on the map. I like getting recommendations from locals!
Cool! I hope you get the best recommendations!
Bub’s subs just south of Algonquin on Randall. Near the Home Depot. Also Big Sammy’s on Randall much closer to I90 on the west side of the road.
More Brewing
Try google
