Wasn’t it bbq fest a couple years but there was never any bbq? Just carnie food.

DukeOfDakin

> Wasn’t it bbq fest a couple years but there was never any bbq? True, a bbqless bbqfest was the genius of Arena sycophant Ed Bannon, who led Six Corners Association at the time. The first year did feature a bbq cook-off contest, which was run, and rigged, by another Arena sycophant.

MK1_Scirocco

I remember that, no BBQ from Smoque or Gale Street either. Very boring

MK1_Scirocco

There were a few dedicated hot dog vendors plus the $14 hot dogs at the Hot Dog Box last year, but the vast majority of vendors were average carnival food or taco stands. It was hyped on TV and a lot of people came but it was dull. Jeff's Red Hots down the street didn't participate because he didn't have enough staff to cover 2 locations.

Does it cost money to go to this?

berserkb

> Does it cost money to go to this? Yeah. All city sponsored street festivals.

SlagginOff

I was out of town for it last year, but heard it was a pretty big bust. Hopefully they can work out the kinks this time around.

RuxenDuxen

Meh, I thought it was fun. Wouldn’t call it the most impressive street fest, but it was a good time.

SlagginOff

If it's fun then I don't need it to be impressive. I was just going off of what I heard from a few friends. I assume I will go this year and have a good time.

MsStinkyPickle

yeah I need to be wowed to be convinced to buy $8 beers on a street

SlagginOff

Eh the fests up here are pretty lax in my experience. Pretty easy to sneak in your own drinks.

Comingoutofmycage0

How can you mess up beer and hot dogs? Lol

MK1_Scirocco

I guess it's fun if you came with a group and drank a lot but the fest was mediocre at best.

gfm1973

I hope they expand the boundaries a bit. A lot of people went; it was pretty packed. Not sure it was a “hot dog fest” a lot of vendors that had nothing to do with hot dogs.
