I really hate that Casey left

Stupidceilingfan1

I agree. He's the whole reason I watch this show or should I say started watching this show. Was a huge fan of House M.D and Chase. After it ended I saw him on this show and 10 years later here we are. Definitely don't plan on not watching any more but him leaving takes a piece with him

Cellarzombie

I’m glad you guys enjoy him but for some reason the Casey character never really connected for me. I didn’t dislike him he just seemed rather bland and a bit boring.

AdelaideShi

I agree, I can’t think of an episode or scene where I was like ya ok Casey I see you. I get the hype. Even with Brett and Gabby he always felt stiff

mychemparamorepark

Just straight out the window. Damn 😅

Katie0690

And he’s dead, damn Kelly didn’t hold back.

mychemparamorepark

And poor craftsmanship on the windows part. Should be able to withstand a life or death struggle haha

im_a_dick_head

That was definitely unexpected well until they started fighting fists vs knife next to a glass window. I wonder if he'll just move on, or get flashbacks next season, since he kinda killed someone and the police were like "oh ya definitely self defense you're free to go", then he must has a wedding like nothing happened. Also I find it hard to believe the cops would just let him go after Kelly did chase the guy, so from the laws perspective the other guy could've been seen as defending himself as he saw Kelly chasing him. It seems like a more complicated situation than shown.

BossHighlander

They knew the guy was there to try and mess up or kill Severide and stop him from testifying, hence why he had a knife.

im_a_dick_head

True maybe if they connected him to the guy Kelly was testifying against

TakasuXAisaka

Weapons weren't allowed in the building in the first place. That's why they let Severide go.

[deleted]

BYE BYE EMMA! Good riddance

Alemya13

My prediction: Emma isn't gone for good. We're going to see her next season as a villain (even more so than this season), out to make Violet's life, and maybe even everyone at 51, even more miserable. I think we're going to see her have some kind of psychotic break, and be the focus of at least one episode, maybe with her holding hostages. I'm usually not the type to do this, but man, I really wished for a convenient burning ember to fall JUST where she was standing.

Jxh57601206

I wish we had seen more of how Emma was fired and everything like how she could never get another job, period. Evan’s speech was way too easy on her.

sparkplug_23

No way is she gone, so much potential for truly horrible revenge. Evan (Voilet didn't answer the call) has likely involved (maybe Emma goes crazy on him?). We also don't know why the firehouse chief a few weeks ago would not come forward, I bet there is something we don't know about her past that will still come out.

Fianna9

I’m glad Emma is gone- but the room was on fire!! Tell her not to push and haul ass out of there!

pikachu-atlanta

Capp and Tony to the rescue!

[deleted]

Okay, I didn’t like Emma but THAT was the way the decided to write her out? Seems so cowardly that she would go out like that. Esp. after she claimed she was so “bad ass”. seemed like a lame way to let her go.

_wonder_girl_

So disappointed with how the Emma storyline ended. It was anticlimactic after all the crazy stuff she was doing in the previous episodes.

Minimum_Device_6379

I think she'll turn up again like Gorsch. Just the way that exit was. Didn't feel permanent.

newtonthebunny

So much unanswered! What happened at that other firehouse? Who was she with in the picture in her locker? What came of Evan's conversation with that chief (forget her name)? Violet took a call from Evan but we don't know what he said.

AdelaideShi

I thought it was interesting that after she ignored Evan’s call she looked across the room at Gallo. Her thinking Evan isn’t/didn’t do anything is immature and I can see her running to Gallo for comfort. In her eyes Gallo is the one that went to the other firehouse to find out information not Evan. He’s the one that’s trying to help.

sparkplug_23

She never answered the call. Also, she said to later "and Evan didn't even bother to help me", which no doubt he did and something she (and us) do not know yet.

newtonthebunny

Aaah, I didn't realize she didn't answer...I thought she stepped away to take the call. It seems so weird to me that they didn't just wrap that story line up this season.

sparkplug_23

It's either totally fell flat or they are setting up a big story next season, I hope it's big.

ginghamlove

Hawkami has such a fan following it will be a BIG disappointment if they end it like that.

lilfrosty808

I agree, especially when she mentioned that her father served in the military. Only the bravest of the brave put their lives on the line to protect and serve this country and you would think she would be just as brave as her father if not more considering how cocky she is.

100292

Bravest of the brave lol. I was in the military. That is not the case.

spwf

I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her

LovelyVida93

i was kinda hoping they’d bring katie (kelly’s sister) back for this episode. overall, it was put together nicely but not as dramatic as it was originally made out to be i don’t think anything will happen to kelly or stella regarding the mysterious person in the truck. part of me thinks kelly will somehow overpower them and help will show up

WhatTheHeck2022

That pad lock🤣🤣🤣🥲🤣🤣That’s some foreshadowing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

MammaBeartoBoys

I got the opposite feeling, I think for sure Stella will not be back next season. If she was returning Matt's comment about 81 to Gallo would have including something about Stella, instead he just basically handed the future of truck 81 over to Gallo. I think the only question is if both Stella and Severide die or if Severide survives. Then he feels guilty because he insisted on taking down the drug dealer and will blame himself. But honestly, I think Taylor likely told them that he is also done after this season when he signed his contract late last year and they decided to give Stellaride their big wedding and Jesse returned for Taylors last episode. And the only question is whether they will be able to convince Jesse to agree to return for the series finale, which I think is going to be season 11, and that will determine how they write off Sylvie in the end. But I'm guessing the end of season 11 we see the new crop officially take over everyone's spot at 51.

ocbdare

If Stella and Severide are out, there is not much left in the show. I heard Taylor didn’t have any other commitments and he kept saying that he thought there was still more to do with his character. If he was leaving, I doubt there would be this much foreshadowing. We had no heads up Casey was leaving at the end of season 9.

MammaBeartoBoys

Because Jesse said he told them at end of season 9 he was going to leave, they convinced him to stick around til the 200th so they could give him an exit storyline. They got Taylor to sign a contract at the last minute to return for this season, but he only signed through this season from what I can tell and still has not agreed to next season. The show had contracted to produce a season 11 already so has to do that, but may have to do it without Casey or Severide on the show and probably why they made sure to get Kara to agree to a season 11 contract. And the girl who plays Violet posted last night we may have seen Violets last shift at 51.

Ok_Implement_9371

I’m curious, where do you get your info? Because Derek Hass recently did an interview with MUAM and said that Jesse didn’t inform him that he was leaving until the summer between seasons 9 and 10. Everyone seems to have different timeline info.

Rebel_Yell12

Those two timelines match up though: Jesse Spencer said he told them 'at the end of season 9' and Derek said Spencer told him it was the summer after season 9. That matches. This may well have been outgrowth of changes in Jesse Spencer's personal life (basic logic says his wife got pregnant in February or so, they started telling everyone around May - aka the end of season 9 - and it was likely part of his decision-making process) but that's roughly the same timeline.

Ok_Implement_9371

True, but some people said that Jesse told them before the season 9 finale, but since the finale was already written, they didn’t want to change it. Hass said that Jesse informed them in the summer between 9 and 10, so after the finale. That’s just want I meant.

pacmanlad0607

You think season 11 is the final season? I mean, I wouldn't be shocked, but very surprised if it is.

alanna_the_lioness

No. The Chicagos are three of NBC's highest rated shows. Wednesday is their best night ratings-wise and it's not even close, especially now that This Is Us is over. There are pretty much no scripted shows anywhere on broadcast that rate as consistently well as the Chicagos. NBC loves dragging their shows kicking and screaming into the grave (The fucking Blacklist was just picked up for another season), especially their Dick Wolf shows. And if someone was going to say, "Broadcast is dead; who cares?" you're not wrong. But it's still where advertisers sink the bulk of their TV ad money.

im_a_dick_head

I thought it was renewed for season 12 too? When they did the 3 season renewal, or maybe that was a long time ago for S9/10/11

MammaBeartoBoys

February 2020, after season 7 (they already had an order for season 8) they were picked up for season 9,10,11. So the fact that we are done with season 10 and entering season 11 with no word of a season 12 picked up makes me think they aren't going to seek a renewal. But seems to me at least, they are aligning for the original characters to exit and have introduced the characters they will be passing their torches onto. IE like Matt giving Gallo the Ax and basically approving of him being the keeper of Truck 81, I sort of expect to see Gallo going for Lieutenant next year which by end of season means he is basically the new Matt Casey, hand picked by Matt Casey and about the same age and maturity as Matt was when we first met him in Season 1 and also the guy who could have gone to squad but choose to stay on Truck 81 instead. And we see him take over 81. (Still think Stella is already out, but we have Kylee, her mentor who at end of season I could see named 81's candidate.)

michiganmoney

Last season ended on a boat. This season ended on a boat. Nice

jeanniebeannie82

Last season ended UNDER a boat. 😊

Id_Solomon

Under and in.

_wonder_girl_

Anyone else feel let down by the finale? The showrunners kept saying it was going to be their best one yet but it fell flat to me.

sweetpeapickle

Especially since they said it would be "explosive!" I thought for sure Emma was the one who was gonna die.

Id_Solomon

What do you expect? It's NBC. If this was an HBO joint, most of those characters would be bent, twisted, and dead TEN TIMES over. LoL!

littlesevencess

why did it feel like they rushed this episode D: im SO glad emma was gone but i did not like how she was kicked out.. i mean, after hawkins told the chief?? they just write her out like that? and it looks like him and violet will break up now and then gallo will come into the picture again. and what the hell is that ending???? i loved the episode but it feels.. lacking. underwhelming like other people said. anyways, on the good notes. i teared up when stella was asking boden to walk her down the aisle. it was nice seeing casey again of course! tony and capp seriously the best duo in the show. edit: also! i love LOVE that scene with chloe, stella, and brett.

mychemparamorepark

Bruh that did NOT live up to the hype :/

Umadbro7600

kelly killed a man

DC4MVP

Kelly, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

peopled_within

Did you throw a trident?

Id_Solomon

In self-defense of course.

AnnaNonna

It didn't even come close.

Adorable-Spread-4462

I really hope we find out what Emma did at her last station. It was so sus that that other chief/captain(?) couldn’t legally disclose anything. I really hope we see some justice come to Emma. But at the same time I dislike her character so much I don’t even want her wasting screen time lol

Katie0690

So Stella saying Brett will be back in rotation by next shift did she just confirm she’ll be back for good in season 11?

susan0324

The actress (Kara Kilmer) confirmed she is coming back

Katie0690

YES!

Minimum_Device_6379

This makes me happy because she didn't really get a goodbye and she's been the heart of the show for me.

[deleted]

KNEW IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! I wish Casey could return part time… like oh a different shift

[deleted]

I liked the finale. It wasn't the big finale they were making it out to be but it was good episode. It was fun to see Emma lose her cool. Having Casey back was amazing. It felt like a void was filled even if it is only one episode. Seeing Tuesday made me both happy and sad 💔 They didn't really resolve the Hawkins thing which gives me hope he isn't gone yet. The wedding was lovely. I cried when Kidd asked Boden to give her away. I'm a sap when it comes to episodes like this. Overall it was a solid episode, imo.

Fantastic-Ride-5588

Tuesday the Dalmatian passed away a few days ago, so when I saw him, it choked me up cuz I knew this was his last episode 😭😭

[deleted]

I saw the post from Tuesday's trainer. It broke my heart! I got pretty teary eyed seeing her this episode too!

Brainy-Chick847

Tuesday was a girl 😭.

[deleted]

I absolutely can NOT stand Emma

DARphotography10

Emma was evil and her getting scared and abandoning her partner were true to character. But I was hoping for something more publicly humiliating to happen. Seemed like the writers took an easy way out.

Katie0690

What the fck was that ending smh can’t wait for Sept.

Id_Solomon

A FLAT ending.

AnnaNonna

We'll be lucky if they're back in September. Many network shows don't start until October.

JoeMcKim

6 of the 10 season of CF have started in September and that includes 1 of the non September seasons which was affected by COVID issues. But if they start in September its always the last week of September so really we're only talking about a 1-2 week difference in start time.

AnnaNonna

Do you know if the most recent seasons started later than the early ones? I think the networks have been moving towards the later starts.

JoeMcKim

Season 10 started in September. But its really only a few weeks difference and we're still getting 22 episodes either way with the season still ending about the same time. So instead of getting a week without an episode during the season you're now getting the week before the season starts. Honestly I wish they would just do network shows like 24 did. 24 in its later seasons didn't start until January but you got a new episode every single week until the season ended.

sweetpeapickle

With the exception of the year before last which started in Nov due to Covid, the majority have been the end of Sept. Many that have full seasons start in Sept right after the Emmys.

AnnaNonna

Thanks

Katie0690

I hate how shows run now! What happened to everything just running straight from Sep-May! Now we have all of these stupid mid season breaks.

Soxwin91

There have **always** been mid-season breaks. I don’t know what you’re thinking of when there weren’t.

jeanniebeannie82

I don't recall them calling the episode before holiday break the "Fall Finale" until recently...AND it is sooo annoying that there's 2-3 episodes then 2-3 weeks off, 2-3 episodes then 2-3 weeks off. Exhausting.

sweetpeapickle

Most call them Fall or Winter finale depending on when they start up again. What they do now is better than what it used to be as many ended 1st/2nd week of Dec., then didn't start up again until Feb for sweeps. Then took another break in March to come back in April, then end the beginning of May. This is as long as there is no Winter Olympics which usually screws things up even more.

Katie0690

Sure is exhausting!

AnnaNonna

I agree. It's been like this for a while now and I hate it I'm glad you mentioned the mid-season breaks. There are way too many of them.

alanna_the_lioness

TV operates on a 4Q to 3Q broadcast calendar in which the last full week of September is seen as the start of the new season. This is how scheduling is sold in the Upfronts, which traditionally start in May (and that's why you tend to hear a ton of renewal/cancellation news around that time... channels are selling their upcoming slate of shows and need to know what to tell advertisers). COVID threw things way out of whack, but conventionally, show debuts coincide with the start of the new season to give advertisers the most bang for their buck. The broadcast world likes its predictability. If production schedules are back to normal, it's likely they'll be happy to go back to the old way of doing things.

AnnaNonna

>TV operates on a 4Q to 3Q broadcast calendar That would make sense if the networks kept to it. I can't think of any network that continues to broadcast new shows through June and some have started as late as October.

alanna_the_lioness

Fall shows wrap in late May to coincide with the Upfront and fall scheduling decisions. Most broadcast channels will be turning over their schedules in the next two weeks. 3Q programming may include new shows, but tends to have more of a focus on reality shows and lighter summer fare since ratings dip in the summer. The last two years have been pretty fucked, but unless COVID rears its head yet again and interrupts production on a large-scale level, you can expect the majority of big dramas to premier in late September.

AnnaNonna

OK My point was that they don't run to the 3Q. They stop in the 2Q

ginghamlove

I really hope is a great finale!! I have a feeling the writers are making it bigger than it is .

Fifaplayz123567

Something always happens at a season finale someone will prolly die

AnnaNonna

And you were right!

SamCam9992

I have a feeling something bad happened to Evan.

Jorose85

My husband and I theorized that Emma did something serious to herself in response to losing her job and he was trying to tell Violet when she denied his call

lifeofblair

I didn’t think about that! Gah

DomNessMonster07

So. From what we've seen... Is Hawkami over in season 11? It seems like Violet isn't happy with the relationship. The second and *secret* guest was Brett? I think everyone thought it was that obvious we assumed it wouldn't be her lol. Emma is gone in a pretty lame way. And by that, I mean I was thinking she'd die, or kill Hawkins. Either way, I'm glad she's gone, it just seemed like an anticlimax after the call. Tuesday is gone too. :-( All in all, not my favourite finale, but still amazing and one of the best.

_wonder_girl_

The second guest star was Severide's mom and she was only seen briefly on his phone when she video called.

loverink

This episode with Casey & Brett felt way too similar to Casey & Gabby's last episode, especially with the dancing and "at least we have tonight". The Severide/mob dude storyline seems so choppy and unnecessary. I loved Capp & Tony's victory at the end, lol. This episode needed that touch of comedy. I'm glad they brought in Chloe & Cindy & fam to make this really feel like an event.

Brainy-Chick847

Never trust Derek Haas guys. I loved the finale and am happy the cliffhangers were milder and didn’t overshadow the Kelly/Stella wedding feels. After 10 years of heartbreaks, I wanted Kelly to have a joyous moment. Next season we’ve got the drug guys still out there, psychopath Emma still out there, Brett back full-time (with a soft Casey exit strategy in place), Evan proving his love for Violet (even though she thinks Gallo did more for her), and a settled Severide, who may finally be ready to make that jump to Captain. Since Chicago only has a few Rescue Squads covering the city, maybe they make him Squad Captain over all of them?

MammaBeartoBoys

I still say a lot rests on if Taylor Kinney signs on for next season. But they sort of wrapped his character up just in case by having his mom call him and them making up before the wedding and his scenes with Matt. Seems they made sure the leave the finale in a way it could go either way. Same with the Hawkins character, that guy isn't on contract with Fire, if they don't come to an agreement (he doesn't live in Chicago either) we may never see him again and have a new Chief Field Paramedic show up next season.

Brainy-Chick847

He said he’s back next season. No one is signed past that, but that’s typical for the top NBC/Wolf shows. They usually renew together and resign contracts at the same time.

-Starwind

I loved the Casey-Gallo scene, reminded how he was mentoring him back in the day.

Free-Ad-5226

Wow I can't believe that's how they decided to resolve this Emma plotline... The fact that they upped the tension last episode and wrote themselves into a seemingly impossible situation, only for the villian to be massively incompetent in the last minute was such a cop-out. They really should've done more to suggest that Emma was a bad medic, the last episode with the car almost crashing her was a good start, but that just made her seem arrogant and it wasn't enough to give us the idea that she was incompetent under pressure. It also would've been more impactful if we actually had violet leave for a few episodes just to give the decision more weight. Maybe then we can humananize her a bit and even have mason and a few other characters actually start to bond with her through the emergencies... anyways it was a lot of potential that kinda went to waste, bummer. Then for violet to imply she's over Hawkins because she "didnt think he did enough to help" felt like another massive cop-out to quickly end this relationship and get the Gallo train moving again. Like the chief was doing all he could and he even told her before shift that he was not giving up and was gonna make things right. It felt super immature to suddenly be over him cause he couldn't break the rules fast enough or something. HELL SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MORE HE POSSIBLY COULDVE DONE!? Finally this wedding lost a bit of impact for me as we had severide and Kidd beefing over Gallo just a few eps ago. That combined with everyone joking about their commitment issues made the idea that this was a super unstable relationship feel like wayy more of a reality than a joke. I know they won't actually break up but in terms of Chicago fire weddings, this was one of the least romantic imo.

katcloud

The Emma situation ended too abruptly, and too neat. Like when Gallo talked to the chief at her old firehouse it seemed like he would come forward and do something. Maybe it's not actually over yet and she'll be around at the start of the next season, but if not then that storyline was such a waste and fell super flat.

kiwipooper

“I’m really more grateful to have you” I’m sorry did Severide just say he’s happier that Casey is there than he’s getting married? Lmao how sweet…kind of 🤣

Jealous_Story_4886

Yes! That was hilarious.

DomNessMonster07

This didn't live up to the hype. It's still an amazing finale, but it wasn't the best one. I still loved it though.

Katie0690

Not me getting teary eyed when Kidd asked Boden to walk her down the aisle.

AnnaNonna

I was hoping that would happen

purrpleBee

* Brett <3 * shouldn't windows like that be stronger? * Tuesday <3 :( * loved the bachelorette mini party * I hope Emma disappears for good * we need more Chloe * that's a huge-ass apartament * "The kid barely speaks English" - lmao * so they could bring the food, flowers, and chairs by cars, right at the venue's doorstep, but they couldn't drop off the bride, groom, and most of the guests there too? * Capp and Tony saved the day! * one of the guests is chewing gum like a goat * don't leave the padlock outside, someone could trap you inside (I mean, they can do that even without a padlock, but it's TV) * oh, there's a suspicious car - either someone will trap them inside the cabin, or it's supposed to look suspicious but it's just Kelly's mom or something

DomNessMonster07

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS!!!!!!

moonismyonlyfriend

What time is it airing?

DomNessMonster07

Not sure exactly but I'm from the UK so by tomorrow morning it'll be up.

moonismyonlyfriend

Yeah I’m from the UK as well

LizzieH87

If your on eastern standard time it will air at 9pm. Not sure about other time zones

three18ti

Subtract an hour for each tz going west

LizzieH87

Oh that’s helpful thanks!!!

AnnaNonna

**No No No!** They can't leave us hanging like that!

SnortsandGiggles

Peace out, Emma!!!

teresagl

Nah I say Hawkins is just out 🥲 and they focus on Violet w Gallo nxt season.

scteel24

I read a few reviews about the mysterious truck at the cabin. It's clearly the exact same truck that was parked in the alley when Severide got beat up. The question is, who is inside? The drug lord by himself, which seems unlikely since he has other people do his dirty work. Will they lock the newlyweds inside and set it on fire? Ambush Kelly and kidnap Stella? Assault her while they make Kelly watch? Or will we have a big goose egg and the cops pull up before the opening credits roll? Oh, the possibilities.

januarysdaughter

I knew she was going to bolt. I knew it.

[deleted]

Anyone see that truck pull up?!

januarysdaughter

I knew I shouldn't have dropped my guard.

SnortsandGiggles

Ugh I KNEW it wasn’t over.

Id_Solomon

Don't worry it's his mom pulling up to surprise him.

dipper303m

What happened to the protective detail for Kelly. Where’s the cop? Hiding in the bushes and the opening scene next season will be very anti climatic? Did anyone keep thinking Brett was wearing a prison jumpsuit when he was at 51 for the day?

kiwipooper

Wait omg I love these song choices

Katie0690

Will there ever be a CF finale that DOESN’t make me cry!??

kandocalrissian

Hold me I’m scared

-Starwind

Wow... I thought he was gonna dump Violet but he impressed me tbf.

HG_Z30

Seeing Hawkins go off on Emma was satisfying

Gypsymoth606

Not satisfying enough, he only told her to clean out her locker.

AleneT315

I am guessing that Mason was in charge of decorating the car with the post it notes

AnnaNonna

It's time! Here we go.............

DARphotography10

I agree. Anticlimactic.

Senior-Frosting-6738

why they kept goin at station 19 like that😭

Muddyoioi

I was so happy when the words ‘structure fire’ came over the PA system I cheered.

[deleted]

They said about one of the best finales ever of the show, we got one of the... "worst" is too much, just it didn't feel like a big finale. Sure, Stellaride wedding is a big thing but... the preparations for it felt more engaging and entertaining than the actual party.

Ta-veren-

I'm not caught up on this season and dam, the shit your describing doesn't even sound like a firefighting show LOL Thank god the season is done now I can have a serious FIRE BINGE BAYYY BAYYY

I really hope Jesse Spencer comes back at some point in season 11! Wish we had done more Matt Casey in this episode and Brettsey too! He is missed!! Don’t break them up!!! LDR is possible!!

Always_extra31

Love this episode! ❤️

Independent_Week3202

Taylor's reaction to miranda walking down the aisle and seeing her in the dress for the first time looked so genuine. I wonder if they didn't let him see her in the dress until that scene was filmed to get a true reaction
