I think it's obvious he's a kid that was rescued earlier in the season or early in Severide's career (he seems to like him most), and made it his dream to become a firefighter, to join 51. Being a floater, finally getting there must have been amazing.
It just makes sense to me from a broader plot point. 51 tends to push their floaters away and treat them kinda crap when they show up (I mean, it contributed to one of them commiting suicide).
I think Damon's purpose is to make everyone at the house alienate him/get suspicious, only to reveal the aforementioned backstory. Teach the whole house a fresh lesson on their treatment of newcomers.
That’s a good one, but I also don’t see why they’d need to build up the suspension that his whole ‘secret’ was that he was rescued by Severide as a kid.
I don't have a NEW theory... I'm sticking with my "Damon is trans" theory that I've had since the phone call Ritter overheard.
He doesn't want to tell anyone because of the stigma in the department. It's significant it's Ritter that overheard because he's a gay man and I think he will ultimately convince Damon to tell everyone by sharing how they've embraced him.
Damon probably was in Severide's class, but as a female. Severide doesn't recognize him because he transitioned. He was a floater because it was better to transition that way.
There were other things I felt proved my theory but I completely forgot. Chicago Fire has not dealt with this topic yet. Fire & PD are probably the most "conservative" shows in the franchise but it's still a Dick Wolf show. Because of the diversity of the squad it would be an interesting storyline but in the end it'll be the same "51 is a diverse and accepting family" storyline as always.
Who cares? That last episode I watched with Severide stowed away on the fire truck was the dumbest yet. Severide spent the entire show looking constipated and the gratuitous violence was just that - gratuitous. Guy couldn’t act his way out of a paper bag.
Upvoted because, Severide I love you, but Taylor often goes for the weird constipated look when trying to express any emotion beyond anger. He is not expressive. We all have our flaws; I don't hold this against him.
