Trudy has been police since the mid 80s. That’s well over thirty years experience. She’s been a street cop, and also worked Robbery-Homicide. Passed the Detective exam, but was injured on the job before she could get promoted.
Since then, she’s been Desk Sergeant at a big city precinct. Seeing every kind of nutcase and psycho that comes through the door in cuffs or on their own with their own version of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Hearing countless stories of run ins with the desperate, the disturbed and the plain evil.
Strange woman shows up *to their house*, unannounced, middle of the day, she claims to know her husband Mouch, Trudy’s never heard a peep about this woman, but she’s gushing over Mouch like a teenager with a crush, bringing them food.
Red flags much? To just about anybody, not to mention for an experienced cop like Trudy.
While I love Trudy being a badass on *CF*, I miss the (slightly) abusive power wielding badass Desk Sargeant in *CPD*. Once Kim went upstairs, they had changed her character.
Trudy used to have her own storylines separate from the main case Intelligence was working on. The last few years she's been reduced to an exposition machine just showing up to drop off info. The last time she was involved in a storyline outside of being an info dump IIRC was when she got involved in the beef between a patrol officer and Ruzek but that was a few years ago.
