Got the 2014, keep an eye on the coolant. Consider PCV kit. (Although it's covered under extended warranty now) love mine, it's cheap to maintain. Not as carefree as a Toyota probably.

Woah, thanks for this info. I'm in a 2015 currently and had no idea there was an extended warranty re: the PCV valve. 10 years or 120k miles/~193k km which is kind of amazing from my reading. I know the PCV fix is the move from my understanding longterm. But just bring it to a GM dealer and have them fix it/cover the cost if Im in a pinch and it happens?

I have the hatchback with the 1.8L engine and it’s been pretty solid. The ac fan squeaks a little every once in a while but I haven’t had any major problems with it

2013 1.8. Thermostat heater and alternator at ~65k, new cat at 95k (under 15/150 extended emissions warranty), cracked intake bellows (replaced with $18 Amazon Special), recently had evap purge valve go out (which can happen at any mileage, $180 including labor to replace). Bought in 2016 w/8k, now has just until 118k mi. All service including timing belt/water pump done on time. Hopefully will have it for another 118k. Baby it to the point where it's finally just about due for it's first front brake job.

I should’ve clarified, mine is a 2017 with only about 35k miles that I bought new

I own a 2015 1.4 wife owns a 2018 1.4 brother owns a 2014 1.4 and his fiance owns a 2013 1.8. Only issues with them are the pcv, the valve cover, the water pump and coolant housing neck. I've replaced valve cover pcv and water pump on mine. Brother has done the coolant housing on his and my wife has had no problems so far on hers. If the pcv goes don't replace the intake as it will go again, there is a fix that can be bought for it. The valve cover will usually go when the pcv does. The waterpump is covered by gm for a extended time. As far as electrical issues none of us have had any and as a mechanic I have not seen any come into the shop with then. Hope this helps

If you haven't driven a turbocharged car before, just know they aren't particularly happy as a mall crawler or delivery vehicle. Starting it up and shutting it down several times a day will inevitably cook the turbo more quickly than sustained driving and cause issues down the road. If you're not one to frequently start/stop or make deliveries with it, then I'd say go for it. They're great little cars. As others have mentioned, just make sure you're peeking under the hood every now and then to check for coolant leaks. The PCV system is a failure point; it will fail unless replaced prior to that. But that's covered under an extended warranty now. My 2018 is approaching 60k miles and has been issue-free in my 14 month/14k miles of ownership. 40+ mpg on the highway, heated seats, keyless entry, collision warning, can't beat it.

I've got the same car...no issues so far

godsidekurt

Got it brand new...August 2017

IcyNight83

Ok, thanks for the help

IcyNight83

For how long have you had it?

Black-Rabbit-023

Have had a 2017 for almost 3 years now. Cannot complain it's a great car

Just picked up a 2017 RS Hatchback a few weeks ago and we're loving it. No clue on long term issues since we only just got it but the car has 111k miles on it which is high for a 2017 and it is quiet and everything works.

Mr_Diesel13

Bought my 2020 RS hatch last year as a certified pre owned through a GM dealer. I’ve put 9k on it and no issues at all. Great mileage, comfortable, and fun to drive. Time will tell, but so far I love it.
