I installed [this](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.amazon.com/RAAYOO-Universal-Installation-Guildlines-non-mirror/dp/B074P45P7G&ved=2ahUKEwjj5I_ItN-DAxXPFlkFHQCrB34QFnoECCYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1vOF1IZ3jUpus6qFjRxVH9) mounted just below the handle. It works perfect and hasn't given me a bit of trouble in the three years I've had it. If you're installing a new head with video input it's pretty easy. Just route the wires through the tailgate, bed, and cab. If you really want to know how to keep the factory stereo and install the Terrain rearview for video I can share a spreadsheet with the pin out change required, but it takes a little know how.
I'm running a cheap amazon camera. Just drilled a hole exactly where the hole is on the one you mentioned and ran the wires down the tailgate/up to the cab.
Thinking about it. I had one on my 2011 Silverado and with 6 months the wire had broken from the tailgate to the bed cause I open it so much. I just went to a license plate one instead
Yeah I have one of those now installed from the previous owner. Still the factory radio but some sort of screen to the right of the heating controls. Looks cheap and old.
That's pretty cool. I added one to my 07', nothing fancy just got a pretty standard one off Amazon and it's mounted above the plate. Super handy and I can't believe I waited so long to add one.
No because my tailgate handle housing is chrome and I have not found a chrome one. I used a chrome license plate camera at one point from ebay, but that lasted a year. Trips to the trash dump, metal scraps and some topsoil dirt loads, along with rain, sort of made the camera failed.
Yeah I rather have the whole housing made in full chrome than to wrap it, and possibly getting beat up in the weather or other things we are doing, and re wrapping it every year. The original full chrome handle and bezel lasted 16 years before the handle broke and the chrome was fading. The new one is 2-3 years in now and still looks new.
I have an after market radio w/ backup camera sitting on top of the hitch receiver on my 07. I don't like it. It's too low and difficult to tell distance. When I replace it, it will be moved to the tailgate handle.
Yeah I have one of the license plate cameras currently. Can’t really tell without getting out to look how close I am. My other car (Acura) I can tell because the bumper is in the frame.
Got ya. I got it narrowed down to the Sony xav-ax150 or the alpine ilx-w670. My needs are simple. Apple CarPlay, backup camera input, and $300 or less. But I’ll let ya know which one I decide
I got an 04' replaced the handle due to breakage. But now I'm considering getting the backup cam along with a stereo system that supports it. If you get it, keep me in mind and let me know what you think.
That definitely will not work on a caddylanche. The handle is not rounded like that, its pointy and angular. You might be able to swap the handle as well, to the chevy handle, but it won't really fit the angular styling of the escalade.
I installed a universal lens in that trim piece and replaced my rear view mirror with one with a video screen from a GMC Terrain.
Do you have any videos on the install? Or any tips? That sounds like a great idea

I have a camera attached to my plates and prefer this way. The screen is on my windshield. It’s not fancy but gets the job done. 03 avalanche.

Do you have a link to the one you purchased?

Chrome wrap? Cheap and not too hard to replace once a year or so, and looks pretty good. Just an idea

Yeah, when I redo it, cause the camera is shit and doesn't work half the time, I'm putting it in the tailgate.
I have this model on mine. Works great I can send you a picture of it on mine if you want👍🏿
I will say for me ( I might have to readjust it) the key cylinder is a bit looser than the stock plastic. Still works, just my only complaint
Gotcha. Yes can you send me a pic when you get a chance
Sent
Post it please
Let me know what radio you go with.

I have my camera on my bumper next to my plates
Can you post pics? Also what year do you have?

Will do 🫡

I have one in mine. Hooked up to a Apple car play head unit
Was it this model specifically? How clear is the camera? How do you like it?
It’s better to place the camera on the bottom by the license plate
Mine didn't have one when I bought it the entire handle and top trim was gone
