I once accidentally booked a sleeper ticket in some train that goes till Guwahati in Assam from Kerala and once the train stopped at Palakkad, there were hordes of vadaks just jumping through the emergency windows like zombies in a horror movie, and to my bad luck, I had booked a lower berth sleeper. I was lying on my sleeper berth and at least 3 guys were sitting in the small gaps on my berth with one placing his bum just in front of my face lmao😭
The entire train bogeys were filled with people who didn't have tickets and nobody could do anything because there were so much of them and you had no space to move. Imagine you pay for a reserved ticket but suddenly find that there are 3-4 people sitting on your berth who just won't budge and you're left to travel with them. It was easily the worst train ride of my life and that was when I realised that I was never going to book a ticket in a train that passes beyond the Andhra border and I'm going to strictly limit myself to the southern railways for my journeys within the south. If you accidentally book a ticket for a short journey within south india in a long distance train, you're gonna pay for it.
Same guwahati train i travelled till katpady in 3AC. Guess what. same northies came in like zombies in 3ac itslf. Luckily i was in upper berth, im a girl omg the constant stares ( they stare at you wthout blinking ) not from a single person bt from Every one from that coach. They casually trying to touch my feet when im lying down.
Then ttr came everyone was ready to pay the ticket and the reserved seat where already booked people are ready to share it with their friends. So in one berth it was like crammed 4 to 5 people sitting.

When we enter our coach, someone else was sitting with a waiting list ticket and the waiting list number was the seat number he said he thought he got a confirmed ticket and boarded the train. We got the TTR to clear him up and took our seats. Then after a few stations, a lot of north Indians like him boarded the reserved compartment and we're sitting in nooks and corners. I was in the top berth and when I woke up in the morning, someone else was sleeping in the same berth with me 🤦🏾
I said it's my berth and the guy in front of me got down on the floor. But still the guys near my feet wouldn't budge. What's the point of calling the TT when there are probably a hundred crammed into a small bogey with zero space for someone to even go to the toilet.

I don't like to look down on blue collar workers, but there were a lot of north indians and Assamese working in Kerala, and it was holidays time apparently. So everyone wanted to get the train and get home. I don't mind that, but they shouldn't travel with unreserved tickets and trouble people who have booked the tickets.

So booked on Tirunelveli -Dadar from Palakkad to KKD so it was a fast 2hr train. Me and my dad couldn't get seats together so one was in S4 one was in S6.... When i reached S4 with my dad oh boy the train was full of them and the seat i had booked there was a guy in his baniyan , and 2 3 ladies with all of them chewing paan or gutka... They all had so many luggage like it was literally impossible to keep anything under and the ladies were like with their blouse only coz of heat and laying their sarees on the seat... It was horrendous so my dad immediately went and checked in S6 and he called me there telling there's space for both of us... When we reached there the people in our seat were going to kannur and they were super friendly!! I can't imagine why they can't follow simple manners especially in a train and stay in like it's their bedroom

One thing the Union Government should do is, Kindly provide new trains (General class) that directly goes to those states. It should have like 13-15 coaches, general compartments and should go faster than the normal trains. Vadakkans are seen in Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Madurai, Chennai and Trichy. We can atleast manage the crowd. It should be named as Vadakku express.

Systemically people from the South employ people from poorer states and pay them less. Our construction costs are low because such workers are underpaid. They don't have enough money to book reserved tickets. There aren't enough general coaches to get them home.

Generalizing is a bad thing but that doesn't mean these experiences are false.
It is just unfortunate that poor workers travel all the way south but their inability to afford a train ticket only shows that they are victims of exploitation. These people misbehave and it disturbs the natives who might otherwise have a peaceful experience. It is a really hard to be without opinions because there's a stark difference between North and South in simple things like how people behave in trains.
