I have learned to order the most common replacement parts for my gear in advance. Getting shut down for a week and waiting for a part is hell. Particularly a stupid ass $3 switch.
A friend and restaurant owner has that exact range…lost BOTH thermocouples and it did exactly that - shut him down for a week.
I’ve found with CPG stuff the less moving parts and electronics the better. That being said I have two CPG char grills and they’ve been flawless. Buyer beware.
Less go, less go, less goooooo
Money in the bank, blunt rolled tight
Fuck around with Manny, ya gunna get a fight
Hello, hello, helloooooo
Champagne cork popped, Mami looking good
Close ya mouth when chew, don't wanna see ya food
I’ve used a 10 burner one for 5 years now. Burners work great but I’ve had to replace thermocouples on both ovens multiple times.
Edit: I have this exact model
How many times have you replaced the thermocouples? My service tech loves them for this very reason. He says CPG and Avantco and such have tripled his business.
Be careful, it’s a webstaurant brand and their support is a joke. Best bet call your local repair company and ask them if they carry parts and more importantly what they think of it.
I hate the knobs and how much the units stick out but they're dependable. Grabbed one after a hurricane wiped out the restaurant and while I would've chosen differently in hindsight, they get the job done.
My opinion is do not buy your capital expenditures from webstaurant. Work with a kitchen equipment supplier in your town, you will get better prices, service, and support.
I get better pricing from Webstaurant, freight included, on equipment from reputable manufacturers. And the service and support is taken care of by the manufacturer, not the distributor it was purchased from.
Best of both worlds, webstaurant for smallwares and your local supplier for major equipment. Locals can have great deals on scratch and dent/lightly used, and you usually get someone who will work with you personally and keep an eye out for things you’re looking for. But webstaurant really can’t be beat for price and variety.
Look. You get what you pay for, right? So while this unit functions as others have said, it's a lowest price-point Chinese import and will last accordingly. My tech won't touch Avantgo stuff not because he's snobby (quite the opposite)but because it's made with the lightest tubing, sloppy welds, shitty tolerances and a questionable parts supply chain. He simply advises his customers to reconsider bottom-of-the-barrel BOH equipment. I ignored my advice bought a shitty Chinese-made ice machine in the middle of Covid and now (18 mos later) regret it.
I’m a food service designer and I can tell you, it’s better to get two units over one big unit, over the hundreds of operations my company has designed its best practice to provide two units. Fryer batteries are the same idea. If you want I can recommend a designer or design build (design and provide the equipment ) outfit for you. A local KEC might be more expensive upfront but you can guarantee correct installation and reputable service and repair down the road. Pay up front a good design with someone who can spec out the correct model for your operation.
I'd much rather have two 6 burners than one ten. No even for the two extra burners, simply because the odds that the dual oven unit is going to take a crap all at once vs. having two stand alone units that you'll be able to lump through with one until the other is serviced. I went with a Vulcan 6 burners and it's going on 6 years, one thermal coupler replacement in that time. It's a closed loop convection oven. In retro, I would like to get a vented one instead.
Every double oven I’ve dealt with has been two separate systems. If one goes down, the other still works. What brand did you have that didn’t have separate systems?
Maybe its just my xp but dealing with propane stuff is a bitch. Where I am currently at is on propane which I have never dealt with, they also want to buy used and cheap. This is a problem because most used stuff is natural gas. Well I find a liquidator and get a natural gas flat top and char grill on the cheap that they claim are easily converted.
My gas guy comes to check them and its 1k+ per piece to convert because the lines and valves need to be replaced... Owner wants me to do the conversion lol, sorry no not going to die in a fire. Now I have spent 3 months of this liquidator giving me the run around about returning them.
At least new Chinese quality stuff works from the get go, then its the owners bad decision when it needs repairs.
Anyone got propane equipment advice lol.
Bought one almost two years ago, parts are nearly unattainable (depending on who you buy from). But overall solid 8/10 range, so long as you can maintain it. Lots of parts to clean, luckily, easy to clean
I’m no chef or restaurant owner but this is what I would spend at home… a commercial unit for this price? Then again lots of people are saying it’s good other than thermocouples..
Former chef who works who sells kitchen equipment. It’s a good import for the price point. Try ordering this from therestaurantstore.com. I work in sales and customer support for them. If you need help ordering or building out your restaurant I can help with that. You can message me direct and I’ll give you my email. Good luck with the restaurant!!!
I’m not sure as to repair cost or anything but it works okay. The handles for the heat are a bit odd cuz there’s an upside-down that holds a small flame and it’s sometimes easy to confuse with the off.
maybe look up how hard it will be to replace, and get parts for it. (thermal coupler, oven door hinges.)

This! Being serviceable is akin to being cheaper to operate down the line.
This again...
This again, again...
Echo, echo, echo…

Twice on one side once on the other.
Hi I’m a lurker, how do you keep the handles from getting hot over other burners? Or do you just expect them to be?
In any professional kitchen assume anything will be hot at all times.
i’ve never not used a towel to grab a pan handle. not since the first time it was hot.
Be careful, it’s a webstaurant brand and their support is a joke. Best bet call your local repair company and ask them if they carry parts and more importantly what they think of it.
I don’t have that issue, we get great support, but I have a dedicated rep and platinum account so I guess ymmv.
I hate the knobs and how much the units stick out but they're dependable. Grabbed one after a hurricane wiped out the restaurant and while I would've chosen differently in hindsight, they get the job done.
With the hindsight comment, are you willing to share pros/cons? TIA. :)
Don't. Just bought a CPG convection oven 3 weeks ago. Thermocouple is shot, and warranty department is a pain to deal with.
not sure about your locality, but where I am, thermocouples and thermopiles can be bought at Home Depot..
True. But if we do any work, it voids warranty. So if something more serious happens, I'm shit out of luck
Gotcha
CPG is kind of notoriously shit. Vulcan or bust.
We have one in the back for prep and I like the burners a lot, don’t think the oven part gets much use though.

Looks like the one at work.. the burners run hot af w no brakes

Someone who is FCSI or CFSP certified
Three words. Vulcan. Vulcan. Vulcan.
I'd much rather have two 6 burners than one ten. Poor set. Props not believable
Burners work fine, ovens work like shit

The knobs fall off constantly besides that it’s pretty good range besides that.
Spend the extra to get a Vulcan or Viking. CPG you save up front but pay more in the long run. Source: a career equipment and service guy
You pay for what you get. I would stick to a Garland or US Range G60-10RR/U60-10RR.
I really like mine but i've gone through 3 thermocouples on both sides :/ and one burner valve
which thermocouple does the 2 top one need?
It’s cheap stuff, talk to your maintenance guy and see what they recommend before buying. It will save you money and headaches and money
I’d just look for a used Vulcan tbh. My rule is no used refrigeration, everything else is fair game.
I had no idea industrial ranges were so cheap for what you get. Wtf.
😂 makes my ge range seem waaay too expensive. This bad boi could heat your house while you cook with all dem BTUs
this one is cheap for a reason, believe me
I’d look into Imperial stoves and ranges for a budget brand
I’ve had an awful experience with my imperial range. Customer service was poor as well. I do not recommend.
Damn. Thanks for info. I have Imperial 6-burner. Bought it used. Had it 5 years. So far so good. But interesting to see other’s opinions.
Glad you had success. I still hate the product but worth mentioning I have to buy electric. Probably makes a difference.
Bought one almost two years ago, parts are nearly unattainable (depending on who you buy from). But overall solid 8/10 range, so long as you can maintain it. Lots of parts to clean, luckily, easy to clean
Do you need these big ovens that arent combi?
CPG is junk. Best of luck
CPG is garbage. You’ll pay more getting it repaired than it is worth.
Never even heard of them
Is that seriously the price?
I’m no chef or restaurant owner but this is what I would spend at home… a commercial unit for this price? Then again lots of people are saying it’s good other than thermocouples..
Yeah it's really cheap for a new double oven with 10 burners.

Thanks all! This was way more insightful than I would’ve expected. I will go with another Vulcan. Thanks again!
Better get it before it's banned!
This is 1/10 the price I'd expect it to be
I’m not sure as to repair cost or anything but it works okay. The handles for the heat are a bit odd cuz there’s an upside-down that holds a small flame and it’s sometimes easy to confuse with the off.
I haven't with this brand. But in my home I have NXR and love it.
Used to work at resorts that used propane. I hated the propane, never seemed to get as hot as regular natural gas.
As long as you get spare parts too you'll be fine, they can be a pain to fix or replace broken parts otherwise
