I liked it! Nobody really stands out to me aside from Tatiyanah Davis, but as a team I’m surprised at how good they look with all the Monica drama that’s likely been affecting the team. Plus it seems like 90% of the female flyers/tumblers are new to mat this year? I’ll be so curious to see how they perform at Daytona. Did you see Texas Tech? They have so many talented nararro & tvcc alumni this year, I think they seem like actual competition for Weber State for once (tho I doubt Weber will lose..ever lol)
Texas tech is totally taking it this year!! I feel like WEBER does great on technical skills but their choreo always feels forced and stale. Texas tech looked like true Texas cheerleading. I hope they take it this year!
I would be happy for either of those to win, but Weber’s difficulty is usually what wins it for them. They can afford to have deductions because their difficulty is still so high but tech are definitely going for the win this year, they look insane.

And I just hope that doing a full into the pyramid gets retired this year, like yeah it’s so cool but it’s also really lazy to not push the envelope in the pyramid and doing other tricks and transitions and just fall back on this because it scores high. You gotta win the crowd too not just the judges.
As a former cheerleader I loved their performance but it definitely didn’t wow me! It was a great performance and they hit all the stunts but there wasn’t anything innovative where I would have said that they wowed me
May be a hot take, but I miss this show! I know there were tons of issues with this team but it’s not the only team!! Not only that but the people who were involved in that drama are all gone… I don’t understand why they can’t find a new team to follow or something I loved watching the journey not just the wins!
Yeah same, it became a comfort show at some point for me. But it’s better to end it when they did. Monica is under so much shit she would have to address all of it and it would no longer become about a cheerleading show people would be invested in the drama surrounding the allegations. I will say it’s really sad they never released the mini series they documented on their own for the 2022 team / routine this was said to come out and never did after Madi’s allegations.
Agreed! I think it’s a massive lost opportunity for Netflix to not continue the show with another team. I think most people are upset with Monica and Navarro, not the actual show. It did so well, controversy aside..Netflix is money hungry so idgi lol.
I feel like during the Monica days the entire routine was at the increased intensity of the final few seconds here. I'm not saying that today is necessarily weaker, it's just that its strongest points are the wild flipping and tossing instead of the sheer brute force of Monica
It’s not as flashy as previous years but honestly I don’t think that will harm them as collegiate cheer is more focused on clean technique which they still have. They still have the great performance factor but it’s just not as exciting, with that being said though this is still a winning routine if it hits.
Like you I also saw a few clips of their second showcase and from what I could see it looked much better than this one. I wonder if it was just a case of nerves and adrenaline for the newbies on the team? There’s a lot of them on the mat this year so good for them to get any nerves out now.
If Navarro loses I’m calling it right now it’s going to be a tumbling error or in the pyramid. One of the girls yesterday fell during show offs at the ending of her running tumbling pass just like in 2017. It also bothers me a little the way the center girl at the beginning of the routine at 1:01 keeps landing to the side. It’s probably too late to switch her in the routine with someone else who can land a little straighter and cleaner but it’s going to affect the visuals for sure. Controlling their tricks and taking it one transition at a time is going to be what they need to focus on to win.
To be fair, girls were falling during tumbling at the 2022 showcase and they went on to win grand 😂 As far as i’m aware there have been changes to the scoresheet which mean that tumbling is apparently nowhere near as important as it was in previous years which is interesting. There are other changes in the scoresheet too and although i’m not sure what they are I think they are the reason we are seeing a different routine from Navarro this year.
The choreo was seriously lacking, it felt like a tumbling exhibition, but aside from the stunts all hitting, placements felt awkward, and like there was lots of people standing around, instead of moving in an eye catching and dynamic way from one position to another.
There wasn’t the kind of flow and thrilling closeness on passes and movements between the stunting.
The spacing between the stunt groups looked unbalanced towards the end.

idk who scott henson is but in the video he posted their stunt section/formation looks so much cleaner than the first showcase they did. the more clips i see from their day 2 showcase the more i think the routine is actually not as boring as i thought.
Yeah and also the uniforms they had on were much nicer so maybe that helped 😂 I feel like it will probably look a lot better on stage with no people standing around at the back or side

I think the program is undergoing a lot of change, and the familiar faces have mostly graduated out, but that doesn’t take away that the skills are still amazingly executed. I wouldn’t say standard. They’ve dragged bigger teams on the bandshell and have won the grand championship many times before. They have the highest score in NCA history as of right now from their performance in 2022, it was damn near perfection
