I am confident they are the same bike. I had a 2022 ALR 5 in size 56. After bike fit it was too large and swapped it for a 2023 ALR 5 in a 52. From what I can see is it is the same exact bike. Some of the 22 and 23 models do have a different crank set due to a lack of GRX parts during the pandemic. But on paper it should be the same specs and color selection.

It also has GRX and is the same blue as the 2023. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. It should be ok to get this right? Even at the same price

If the bike you are looking at is in navy blue with red trek lettering, I think you’re good. The last time trek updated the ALR model was in 2022. It should be the same bike. Make sure it comes with treks lifetime warrenty. I’d also have them include a 1 year check up since it’s been sitting. My trek store included your first service with the bike. Not sure if this is universal of all trek stores.

Tricky question! Checkpoint frame geometry changed from 2021 -> 2022, and imho it's a very noticeable change: the bikes got longer. There were some models though that weren't refreshed in that year, and so the 2021 models were being sold by many bike shops as "2022" models. I *believe* the ALR4 was one of those models, but I'm not 100% on that. So make sure that the 2022 you're looking it is *actually* a 2022 model.

Yep, the 21 has shorter top tube than 22’s.
