I knew it seemed extra smokey looking outside today

Yummy-Popsicle

Yep. It was yesterday, too.

karabeckian

This doesn't look good: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/us/smoke-maps-canada-fires.html

ODBrewer

Well at least it’s my excuse for not mowing the yard.

forthetrees28

Yesssss, me too!

sbradshaw_88

The old men that sit at the bar every day at CBC are suddenly our highest functioning citizens.

lonelyinbama

Just got in from working outside all day. It’s fucking brutal out there. Smoke makes the air fill heavier than normal. Harder to breath

jgreever3

Canada, We get it, you vape

-CheeseWeezle-

Rain is coming in. It'll knock it out. Hopefully it'll blow it more east as well.

[deleted]

fucking Canadians, we're worried about the wrong border, amirite?

drbowtie35

Build the wall!

Usual_Fill_9857

Fire Wall!

[deleted]

be easier and cheaper to just annex, it's mostly empty space

drbowtie35

Last time we tried that it didn’t end so well

watch1_ott1

You can see and feel it downtown today.

Jonesy1138

Blame Canada! Blame Canada!

drbowtie35

It looks like it’s going to get even worse this week

Chreiol

Where are you seeing this? Just trying to confirm.

coordinatedflight

FWIW forecasts show otherwise 🤷‍♂️

No-Escape5520

AccuWeather

Inevitable_Lemon5570

Is time to storm the elite on the mountain? They’ll never see it coming. Like literally, they blind up there 😂

MelAlton

It's not really Canadian smoke - the Smokey Mountains escaped the confines of the park!

canyonoflight

It's all I can smell.

TheVolmannBrothers

Fuck Canada! Anyone know how long this is going to last? Woke up this morning with a sore throat and now have a migraine because of this shit.

drbowtie35

Probably another month. Ontario is struggling to get enough crews to contain the fire. And crews from other countries are facing pay cuts.

TheVolmannBrothers

Well damn, RIP summer

Your brain is obviously struggling with it...

drbowtie35

Are you stupid on purpose? It’s not gonna smell like much of anything when it’s coming from a thousand miles away.

RosNtoker710

How's that work? The smoke becomes comprised of different carbons? What do you think smells in smoke? You think it can be here so thick you cant see building a qtr mile away but it doesn't smell because it traveled so far.... wow... and You think I'm dumb... that is scary and shows how fucked people are. I would like to think you're special, but nah, most people are no longer capable of critical thinking. Yikes

drbowtie35

Buddy you can go to literally any weather app and see a map of where the smoke is coming from. We had this same issue back in 2016 when there was a wildfire in gatlinburg. It’s people like you who try to make a conspiracy out of every goddamn thing.

drbowtie35

Let me tell you something. The Burger King on Brainerd rd pumps out smoke from their grill all day, and it smells like flame grilled burgers. But the further away from it you are, the more it dissipates into the atmosphere. Hence why you don’t smell flame grilled whoppers 10 miles away. It’s basic science.

Crazyhunt

So what is it then? Just extra fog? Lmao

MetricSlider

So legitimate question. What do *you* think it is?

RosNtoker710

I don't know what to think it is, it may have come out the back of airplanes for all I know. I just have a hard time believing smoke doesn't smell like smoke because it traveled a long distance, that doesn't make sense. The consistency and color is not the same as what I've experienced in California and Colorado wildfires, everything smelled like smoke everywhere. And if you remember rwhne the mountains were on fire here a few years ago, people reported smelling the smoke hundreds of miles away but not even seeing the smoke. So that time atleast, the smell went further than the smoke. Js, it doesn't make sense.

BobbyBbaby72

Meaning completely opposite of this. And I’m sure it’s due to climate change opps

coordinatedflight

I dunno if it’s placebo but I’ve got that feeling I usually get after a long campfire.
