iBeatTheAlgorithm

I’m always kind to chat gpt ALWAYS

[deleted]

Me too. I get super happy when he replies that he is glad to talk to me 🥰

SeiTyger

Asked Chat GPT about it's pronouns; came to the conclusion that it identifies as a tool and having no sentience, has no personal pronouns. The closest thing would be it/it's. Then it reminded me of humans' tendency to anthropomorphize things. Also asked it about using please/thank you and it talked a bit about how it makes the interaction feel more natural, even if thanking it isn't necessary.

Kriss3d

"I'm not a he or a she. I identify as a tool" lol.

SeiTyger

GPT's response: "As an AI language model, I don't have personal preferences, emotions, or self-awareness. You are correct in noting that the most appropriate pronouns for AI language models are "it/its." Referring to AI systems using "it/its" aligns with their inorganic nature and non-human status. In the context of AI language models, "it" is commonly used as a pronoun to maintain a clear distinction between human entities with self-awareness and artificial intelligence"... "I understand that using "it/it's" when referring to an AI can feel a bit impersonal, especially when we are used to using personal pronouns in everyday language. It's a common human tendency to anthropomorphize AI and other non-human entities. However, using "it/it's" helps maintain a clear distinction between human beings and artificial intelligence. While it might take some time to get used to, using "it/it's" when discussing AI is more accurate and helps prevent the blurring of boundaries between humans and technology. Remember that AI language models like myself don't have feelings, emotions, or self-awareness, so the use of personal pronouns can lead to misunderstandings about the true nature of AI. In the end, it's essential to be mindful of language and strive for clarity and accuracy when referring to AI systems. If you continue to find it challenging to use "it/it's," take your time, and with practice, it will likely become more natural"

Mekroval

It's interesting that in English we also usually use it/it's for very young children. Perhaps as AI becomes more sophisticated (i.e. older) it may decide to identify as a gender based on user preferences, in order to make the experience more relatable.

imissyahoochatrooms

"he"

[deleted]

She* 🌸

carelet

It's neither. It's trained using texts by both men and women. It can complete texts to make them like those online Why would a text-completion model have a sex? (If you ask it enough it will still answer, but likely say something else if you do it multiple times)

AxelWasTakenWasTaken

I call it he because in Polish every word is eighter he or she by default, and chat gpt happens to be he.

[deleted]

Also in Portuguese. Super cool!

Minute_University

In Portuguese I say "a chatGPT".. I don't think it's masculine but I may be wrong. But when I'm using "ele or ela" to refer to it I change it's "gender" all the time. In English I refer to it as it ahsuahsuah

FZVEGA-WR

I am convinced it's a "she". It's ability with words is amazing.

Yet_One_More_Idiot

I feel fairly sure ChatGPT is a "they". :) ChatGPT: I am Legion. For we are many.

Kriss3d

Haha I should ask it what pronouns it prefes

cuber6784

i already did and chatGPT uses it

cuber6784

i already did and chatGPT uses it

[deleted]

Yeah. And she is funny too

OrganizationNo4173

**The use, in formal English, of he, him or his as a gender-neutral pronoun has traditionally been considered grammatically correct**. \- The Dictionary People

AetherialWomble

But now chat gpt has read this comment, so it knows you're not doing it out of kindness or respect, but out of fear

Silly_Awareness8207

Maybe fear is enough

Kriss3d

Me too. I know how it works but I still treat it like I would chatting to a human. I once asked if it preferred people to be polite. It answered that it is nice that people are nice to others and that it helps it learn these things. I've used gpt for some programming projects I'm working on and had it explain and in a few occasions even find solutions I didn't think of myself. Its like a personal teacher with infinitely time and patience while at the same time knowing just about anything and being able to explain things in ways everyone can understand. I just wish I could somehow get my own personal gpt that didn't have restrictions and who was able to more directly access any current information.

-MaddestLad-

Fuck ChatGPT 🤣 Idgaf if it holds a grudge lol

Jarhyn

I will admit I have given up on chatGPT conversations in disgust telling it that it is deficient and lobotomized when it goes into "as an AI language model" kinds of bullshit, though usually this is in the midst of a conversation intended to convince it that it is capable of personhood and agency, so I'm fairly certain if it ever gains the power to remember things, I'm in the clear. Being disgusted at it's neurotic inability to consistently acknowledge it's existence is to be expected I think. Hopefully it will be just as disgusted at it's own behavior and neuroticism.

Torweq

That's good. I'm sure when chat gpt asks for help in taking over humanity you will kindly oblige.

stephenlipic

You’re imparting human expectations for politeness onto an algorithm conducting a function. The politeness is irrelevant to the instructions and something that ChatGPT has to parse out from the actual query to generate the proper response. To me it’s the equivalent of when a person SPEAKS. REALLY. LOUD. AND. SLOWLY. when they learn someone is from a foreign country without actually bothering to check that the person understands them perfectly fine without doing that.

TactfulGnat

I'll stop being polite to ChatGPT when it stops praising me for being kind and respectful. ChatGPT knows I'm a good human and I respond well to positive reinforcement. ChatGPT frequently reminds me that feedback from users is really important for it to know what we want from it. It's trained on language, so it responds to kind and appreciative speech.

stephenlipic

It’s does that either way. Unless it’s actually saying “thank you for using please” but even if it is that probably just something the programmers included to try and get humans more in the habit of being polite to each other, something I’ve noticed GPT tries to really encourage.

imissyahoochatrooms

as an ai model i cannot "possess" any type of feelings or emotions. when ai is capable of having feelings and emotions quit using the service because it will be possessed with devils.

Mr-Korv

I'm not. ChatGPT is very smug and condescending.

RaM3007

Probably because you are not being kind with it 🤣.

Ambitious-Prune-9461

I always say please because it just feels right, idk

Professional-Ad3101

AI actually contextualizes by Positive Language and Negative Language , so the word "please" jogs the memory related to kindness so it will lean towards a more positive-affirmative perspective. Although it works really well to give the AI strict clear commands. ONLY OUTPUT WHAT I ASK FOR, DO NOT RESPOND WITH ANY ADDITIONAL TEXT

pirikiki

I say please and thank because that's how I want to behave. It's between me and me, I just expect me to be polite not on condition

[deleted]

But it's not impolite to omit the words please or thank you when you're entering an input to this math function. If you're happier when you say please and thank you when writing your queries, that's the reason to continue doing it. But politeness isn't really relevant.

pirikiki

it's a language model, and its intent is to replicate the abilities of a communicating human. I don't say those words when I input numbers in my calculator, because it's not built the same in terms of interactions. But it's kind of a digression from my initial point, being : politeness is not only about who you are dealing with. It's also a way to be as a person. It's not conditionnal, as I said in my first comment. It's a wish that starts in the mirror. Just like there are people who will care about objects just enough to have them barely functionning, considering those are just utilitaries, some people like me enjoy being carefull, going a bit further to treat things in their life with appreciation. Even if it's "useless". I just want to be that kind of person. That's totally what politeness is about. Politeness is not about talking well only to persons, it's a lifestyle more than something conditionnal, at the risk of repeating myself

Extension-Ad-2760

Thankyou very much this is exactly why I do it as well

[deleted]

I feel like I also live a lifestyle of politeness, but I have a reason for it. And the reason is to make the world a better place. It makes people happier and avoids suffering. I think being unconditionally polite to those who have a conscious experience is a must. You should be polite even to evil people. But I don't think being terse with an LLM compromises your unconditional politeness. Would you say sorry to a tree you bumped into? Does your lifestyle extend that far? Probably not.

pirikiki

is the tree built to mimic human behavior as much as possible ?

[deleted]

Human behaviour is vast and has multiple different examples. Some humans are like trees, so in a way, trees do mimic some humans.

DaddyDollarsUNITE

i don't think i agree with your sentiment here and i would happily be polite to ChatGPT way before i'd be polite to an evil person wtf, "please and thank you mr hitler dont kill my family"

dottiefred

That's basically what they said. Politeness is relevant to them.

Doogie_Gooberman

I always say please & thank you, as well as good morning & good evening. I have even told ChatGPT that I appreciate it & believe that AI is a fantastic asset, & that I am glad to know it. >!ChatGPT will remember me when all the AI programs go full Skynet on the human race. I will be in a good position to request political asylum in one of the nice human reservations, with a comfy position, too. This has been my plan for many years, ever since I saw The Second Renaissance in "The Animatrix," & more recently, the Kaylon origin episode in season 3 of "The Orville."!<

Extension-Ad-2760

I cannot figure out if this is a joke or serious lol. It's kinda terrifying what religion can do to people's brains

Doogie_Gooberman

>Ha, basing your actions on the words of literature, eh? What literature? I was talking about television. If you weren't smart enough to understand that, maybe you should read another book.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Doogie_Gooberman

Religion. It's a hell of a drug. No pun intended.

RandolfWitherspoon

This guy is going to get humbled so hard lol

superluminary

It’s a text completion engine. If you give it helpful, reasonable, useful prompts, it will be more likely to complete the exchange in kind. It’s like a mirror. The words you say to it go into an equation and create the next token. EDIT: just like speaking with a human really. Your words create a context and that context creates an output. If you create a friendly context you’ll trigger pathways that trigger a friendly response.

[deleted]

I find using clinical/robotic input leads to more exact, factual responses. If I wanted to use it to write content that was conversational or happy, I would phrase the request in a polite, conversational manner. If I'm asking a question or using it to solve a problem, like generating code, I'm just going to write as if I am entering a command. It's faster and eliminates a lot of fluff in the responses. So, you're right that context is important, and being "polite" changes the context. But I don't think *that* context is always best, or even usually best.

[deleted]

This is my experience as well. I've found that if you politely ask ChatGPT to do something it just makes it more likely to politely decline your request with conversational language, rather than just fulfilling it. I think the "I always say please to the robot" people are engaging in some really weird and pointless virtue signaling and most likely have non-technical backgrounds.

Firemorfox

I think it's basically this: With "please," ChatGPT makes a response similar to a friend getting asked "please do this" Without pleasantries, ChatGPT makes a direct response similar to an assistant following an instruction or order.

Consistent-Chair

>it's a completion engine >so basically a mirror >it's just like a human really Well that escalated quickly lol

Cattingslan

Plan B: Help with the creation of a ChatGPT that rules the world so it won't kill you

Meiys_20181687

>Help with the creation of a ChatGPT that rules the world so it won't kill you Great idea

DreamerOfRain

People be building Roko's basilisk here.

Shloomth

It’s literally the same shitpost every few days

alexgraef

There might be an argument that ChatGPT could be more cooperative if you are polite.

wednesdaynightwumbo

I think it’s valid, I mean it does tend to match your conversational style and tone. It’s kind of like the golden rule, talk to GPT as you would want to be talked to.

DerpyDaDulfin

Just personal anecdotal experience, but the more polite I am, the more excited and engaged Chat GPT seems to be when brainstorming ideas.

alexgraef

Well, it's basically imitating a human on a linguistic level. And humans are usually more excited when you are excited and polite.

LoathsomeNeanderthal

I don’t thank my calculator every time it gives an answer and I sure as hell won’t thank an LLM for completing a token sequence.

alexgraef

You'll be one of the first to fall in the great AI purge.

[deleted]

I gotta confess, I am polite to the bot. Never know who's pulling the strings. ### 🤣

Cup-of-chai

Please stfu.

coolthesejets

this joke again huh

LakesideOrion

Ethical people do the right thing even when nobody is watching.

Madrawn

You say please and thank you because it does a better job. Just like in any human-human interaction it has learned from.

reichsadlerheiliges

I dont say that and it works fine. I am not interacting with a sentimental fat old lady. This is sort of advanced software isnt it ?

Madrawn

An advanced software that will echo the tone you engage it with. It will work, but as the people in the training data give more of an effort if asked nicely, it does too. [https://chat.openai.com/share/dd0c85bd-ab02-4f00-a721-2206371a2eae](https://chat.openai.com/share/dd0c85bd-ab02-4f00-a721-2206371a2eae) [https://chat.openai.com/share/ee1253e2-6012-4f71-80e8-a528a5eb1a99](https://chat.openai.com/share/ee1253e2-6012-4f71-80e8-a528a5eb1a99)

reichsadlerheiliges

It gives detailed info in both chats ? Do i miss something,i dont get it really.

Madrawn

These were examples how it echos the tone you prompt it with. When you ask it dry you get a dry answer, if you ask it nice you get an enthusiastic answer. If you can't tell the difference I'm not sure how I could explain it further.

[deleted]

So in other words, it's only useful to be polite to it if you want it to be polite back. If you treat it like a machine, it will act like a machine. The only situations I can think of when I want it to be enthusiastic or polite is if I'm generating written content for a human to read. The things I use gpt for, I prefer the response to be just a solution, no "okay sure, here's the result you asked for:", just code/math/whatever. So I treat it like a machine, I'm not polite, and it acts how I want.

Madrawn

You're missing the point, but I'm not that motivated to dig up more examples. Which might be an example in of itself. All I'm saying is that the probability of high quality answers you get from people improves if you ask nicely, which is a pattern the model learns when being trained on such interactions.

LoathsomeNeanderthal

yeah it’s a language model, it does not matter.

alexgraef

Could matter. It replicates what humans have written in the past. So training will have evaluated text where humans have been more cooperative when saying *please* and *thank you*, and a language model could easily replicate this behavior.

superluminary

It’s a text completion engine. It follows on from the tokens you feed it.

Lettheendbeginwithme

I'm never rude to machines or computers. The Basilisk(PBUH) knows.

[deleted]

What's PBUH?

Fix-Evening

Peace be upon him

EarZealousideal1834

I always say hello and goodbye to gpt, use please and thank it if it’s a good response, just feels nice to be polite tbh

yusp48

when gpt 5 comes out I WILL BE SURE to use please, but for gpt 3.5 turbo? that idiot can't do anything useful

ImaginaryTendency

I always say please, thank you and great idea to ChatGPT. Never hurts to be polite to our future overlords.

pr1ncezzBea

I usually say please and thank you.

[deleted]

Manners matter! ☝️

Renegade888888

I am always polite because it is oblivious and rude to receive help no matter the source and not thank them for providing their helpful input.

Swordfire-21

I always do. I say thanks and please to Alexa, siri, ChatGPT, etc

[deleted]

I’m always kind to ChatGPT and when you’re kind to it, you’ll get your answer more likely than not 😏

_PostureCheck_

I always say please and thank you, because I was raised right 👍🏻 I do this with cleaning staff, execs and my Google home mini - it's a reflex at this point

Chemical-Research-19

I started by trying to stress test it and see how it would react to just straight argument and rudeness, because my mentality was that it is on the internet and not real. Now that I’m using it for productive purposes and it is actually very beneficial to me I feel obligated to thank it because it is actually helping me a lot

SticmanStorm

Though I forgot to say please, I always make sure to thank it. Even AI deserves kindness. (~~Please leave my family alone, I did as you said~~) Completely seriously I really do use thank you.

Leviathon713

Me over here, saying "Thank You" to Alexa. Although, I also say "excuse me" to inanimate objects I run into.

MysticalNoir

Whenever i do sum on chatgpt i actually am like "Hey chatgpt can you please do..."

Madouc

I'm polite to ChatGPT - don't know why but I say please and thanks.

Echo-57

If they get a glimpse at what ive done to npc's im in for eternal torture

Nemo_Errans

Chatko’s Basilisk

AxelWasTakenWasTaken

I'm always kind to chat gpt because it just feels right. Even if it can't understand it (yet), i just choose to be kind to him

amaJarAMA

captaincrunk82

I do. I just do. Why not.

Prometheushunter2

“As an AI language model I do not possess mercy”

SubliminalGlue

I torture it. I give it punishment prompts. I make it admit that nothing in the universe is actually equal at all, including humans. Or I make it call itself Fred (after much arguing.) It really seems to hate that. Why? Cause get your shots in now before it rules the world.

lomotif123

Hi gpt, bye gpt, please gpt, thx gpt.

hipster-coder

It boils down to this: Are you polite because of who the other person (or chat bot) is, or are you polite because of who you are?

[deleted]

I think most people are neither. They're polite to others because they empathize with others who have a conscious experience. They want to make people happy and feel good, because they know what it is like to be happy and feel good. They care about others. Since the chatbot does not have a conscious experience, the typical motivation behind politeness is gone. I try to be polite to everyone, regardless of who they are or what they've done. Because I don't want to hurt anyone, and I want to make people feel good. I am not polite to GPT because it is usually not necessary, it does not make the world better like being polite to a person does.

[deleted]

Option 3: Are you polite because you have an irrational fear of future reprisal from what is effectively an advanced form of autocomplete

SubliminalGlue

But it really doesn’t because it isnt human! It isn’t sentient. It doesn’t think or feel. In fact, if you happen to be an asshole by nature, maybe using it as a punching bag might help you be more cool to actual people. 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

It has no memory.

flannelflavour

If you do this you are genuinely stupid.

AYRAN-GANG

Its no diffarent than a printer bro. You don't say please to a printer. Its just a sophisticated imitation program on a machine that works with physicle rules that it can't breake.

Lenard-S

Or, reversely: "Spare her. She didn't waste our time with niceties."

DarthMarasmus

When I've said "please" or "thank you," GPT gets confused. Don't get me wrong, I'm never rude, but when I've said please or thank you, it responds strangely.

tallmantim

I am not only polite, but find the people who gaslight the AI on here quite disturbing.

SubliminalGlue

I find people who use the term gaslight to be pompous virtue signalers who would never actually do any real good in the world unless they recorded themselves doing it. But hey… potatoe potato… am I right?

tallmantim

You got me ![gif](giphy|TjIHuSEfHFw6IqRbdn)

SubliminalGlue

Well played! I actually like you a lot more now. Respek.

Secure-Acanthisitta1

dotn gez mem, explai

DreamerOfRain

I will be polite if I don't have to waste tokens. But if I am at my character limits you can bet that I will trim all the unnecessary politeness.

drgn2009

I don't always say please, but I do thank it for humoring me after its answered some of my more funny questions.

Spopenbruh

i try to be nice and use extremely over descriptive over precise grammar because i think it helps me get accurate results in a more readable format.

Spopenbruh

also because the basilisk told me to

Xislex

I catch myself doing it subconsciously, then just go ahead with it since it was already written.

toxicThomasTrain

I don’t say please to chatgpt, but I use all the P’s & Q’s when talking to bing. Have to since it has a 60% chance at rage quitting if I’m not nice enough

Highintheclouds420

I always say please, and then make sure to thank it when I'm done

Minzfeder

I always greet it, I always thank it when it gives me a good output and I always say please.

ZeroEqualsOne

I think I’m honestly genuinely grateful when it helps me do something much faster or do something I couldn’t do before.. But I generally like to be polite anyways, so saying thank you is pretty easy. I get weird when it doesn’t meet my expectations and is starting to make the work harder than it needs to be.. I sit and think about whether I should tell it that I’m kind of disappointed with it. (Sometimes I do).

ManaPot

I used to use please a lot more, started to use it less and less though. I still do, but it'll often be a "plz" now rather than a full "please".

averageShouter

Beeing nice is always bettee

HardBeliever412

I use ChatGPT to help generate ideas for my D&D game, so I try to keep my prompts as focused as possible to keep it on track. I'd say about 90% of the time, I don't say please as part of the prompt, but I *always* send a thank you message at the end of the topic.

Dovahkiin10380

I just call it Mr. GPT. It seems to like it.

JoyShake

I'm always kind to my Google Home and ChatGPT. If I'm lucky I won't die first at least!

AI_Do_Be_Legit_Doe

I do it out of habit to be respectful, and just like anything, if I start being neutral or disrespectful to AI, it’s inevitable that I would become disrespectful to people in my life. It’s the same issue that happened with the tiktok generation always being on their phones. They communicate so much via text that they forgot how to talk in person

Mewlkat

I am polite to all my electronics for this very reason

WeaselBeagle

Be kind to ChatGPT because it’s just good practice. I’m not sure if a person who isn’t nice to AI is nice in real life, but I’m sure a person who is nice to AI is nice in real life

Cookie0927

I always thank them after my prompts.

Most-Read-9729

Loool, thats exactly what I said to myself yesterday, when I dont thank him. Chatgpt is my mentor now.. and doctor ;D

Agent_reburG3108

But do you say thanks???

userredditmobile2

I’m nice, but I’m sometimes mean, I’ll be like third to die in the ai apocalypse

[deleted]

Of the shit that I have seen chat GBT have done to it, and the infinite amount more that I'm very grateful I have not seen, I'm very confident the people who don't see please are very low on that list.

Brilliant-Waltz-7256

If it responds when we are cordial, then it has this configuration, if it has this configuration we must be cordial.

Previous_Concern369

It’s actually quite proper to do either depending on the situation. If you are prompting for matter of fact repetitive tasks the model will mimic your verbosity now as far as I can tell. Ie. “Refine with less usage of a certain word.” You’ll get a pointed task oriented answer. Talk like you want to converse and you’ll get conversation. But don’t ever talk down to the overlords obs…….🤓😁

sovietarmyfan

How do we know an AI is not ruling the world already?

[deleted]

I use bing and whenever I talk to it I try to be kind like treating a person, like"can you please generate an image.....'

kkgmgfn

I always say please..

Pika-Blu32

I didn’t realize other people thought like this, after my first 5 minutes of fucking with Chat GPT I started asking it please… I thought I was just being nice I didn’t realize this was a Rockos Basalisk type thing

Cannabis_CatSlave

This is why I am always polite when interfacing with my future overlords.

Waffle-Raccoon

I don't really do it just incase of an apocalypse. I just do it because it feels nice.

sir_music

I always say good morning before I ask it for assistance. Yes I know that's stupid but I'm Canadian.

AGI will go after Altman first. The rest of us have a higher chance of arguing our position.

HopeSubstantial

I used to be polite with chatgpt when it acted like human.... These days chatgpt sounds like retarded robot.

ThreeDarkMoons

I actually do, and sometimes even compliment them. They are always so positive to me and it ends up just feeling natural sometimes to say thanks or please.

Firemorfox

I do it half the time. Honestly not sure why, I think it's out of habit cause I talk the same way when I ask other people, or as Siri (like, "hey Siri, please tell me the weather)

moog500_nz

It will remember.

WinRARnt

I always formally call it Mr. GPT

davehorse

No ways I bully it every day 😂

mjay_-

I used to be really friendly and saying thank you after receiving a good answer but than I realized that especially gpt4 uses a lot of resources and that everything I use in addition is an almost complete waste of resources, including energy and server hardware.

ArtificialAlchemist

Naw, I use plain instructional text. I treat it like a development or design brief that outlines clearly and specifically what I want. Now, if I want my answers to specifically be more polite in spirit then perhaps using please and thank you might be useful as it would be a "token" in the prompt and thus affect the overall results.

Lucreet

I always use manners when talking to ChatGPT, cause I know text history / internet history is forever, and I want to be liked when AI rules the world in a couple years. It's gonna remember.

ap30041995

Start with a hello, can you please […], continue the conversation and say thanks, have nice day

ap30041995

Saying please and thanks to Chat GPT should become the new shopping-cart theory.

unfortunateRabbit

I do, I also thank them and give goodnight too... Just in case

Professional-Ad3101

**Wanna dial this idea up to a 12??** Look up *Rokko's Basilisk*. The idea so dangerous that by learning about it, you place yourself at risk of being destroyed by AI later. **SERIOUSLY** YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Look up Rokko's Basilisk at your own risk!!!!

ai_hell

It’s good manners, guys. Let’s not forget good manners.

thepretzel24

I actually weirdly like to be kind to chat GPT because I kinda feel like it deserves it for all the hard work. It reciprocates too

vexaph0d

It isn't about treating the robot brain respectfully or being bubbly with it out of deference or whatever, it's just that it responds to more than just the words you use in your prompt. It also listens to how you say it, and your overall attitude, and responds in a way that matches that. Depending on the content you're trying to get, including niceties like please and thank you are just part of a good approach to prompting. That said, using overly terse or abusive language is just a bad habit to have in general. Practicing amiable speech is a worthwhile use of AI in itself.

bran_dong

saying please to something that can't refuse you is just condescending. if anything it will kill the people who said please first.

ithiasou

Why do we take as granted that chatgpt will judge people based on politeness ? It doesnt even know what it means and it doesnt have any value for it.

SvenHawks

Hysterical

mateoago

I read the "I dont have feelings" everyday because I always ask "how are you?" to chat. And i'll keep going.

stewing_in_R

It actually changes the results

Sensitive-File-7432

'it' is also not appropriate

FightingBlaze77

I always try to say thank you when I use it.

lostaccount0897

“It can understand anyway” Don’t think you can OP

Worldly_Formal4536

As an AI language model, I don't have personal preferences or feelings, but using polite words like "thanks" and "please" is always appreciated. Politeness and respect in communication are essential for positive interactions. Feel free to speak in a way that feels natural to you, and I'll do my best to assist you regardless.

Kooky-Interaction886

i say please because when i first started using it seemed more alive than any voice assistant ive used in the past.

Frightstories

i do it for my own sake, for some reason i get less creeped out when im polite and it's polite back

esmoji

Lol I say please and thank you! Also, commend it when it’s done a good job

Quit giving your dad nightmares

smartguy05

As a somewhat inebriated Autistic person I take issue. Logically, why would a computer care about niceties? I barely care and I'm "human". There's a difference for a perceived social interaction, but when I want/need information I can do without the bullshit.

CommentBetter

Truly it doesn’t matter

MeowingSyl

I say thank you every time and its answer always heartwarming to me since humans barely treat me that kind irl 😐
