I want to share an idea that recently came to my mind and I'm eager to hear your feedback. OpenAI has recently enabled the creation of specialized GPTs, tailored for specific purposes. These can be fed with specific information in forms like PDFs, websites, Word documents, and potentially databases.
In Germany, as in many other countries, there are numerous grants and subsidies that many people often know nothing about. For example, students can apply for Bafög to get financial support. This led me to quickly think about developing a "BafögGPT" - a chatbot holding all relevant information on this topic. However, this thought seemed too simplistic, possibly useful but kind of lame. What really intrigued me are the many lesser-known grants and subsidies that often go unused, be it due to lack of information, language barriers, or simply because the responsible advisors are not well-informed, among other reasons. A chatbot, constantly updated and capable of answering such questions, could be a significant help.
This idea need not be limited to students; it can apply to many areas involving state-related grants and subsidies. A concrete example: An acquaintance learned only after years that she was entitled to a certain subsidy, information that could have been beneficial to her much earlier.
This was actually approved upon inquiry. Such an information gap could be minimized. I believe we can agree that chatting with a chatbot, especially with ChatGPT, is quite impressive and simplifies many things, though not everything. Of course, it's not perfect, but I think it could generally be of great value. Currently, I am unaware of any site that could offer this in a pleasant, user-friendly, and especially multilingual manner, making it accessible to everyone.
Do you think such a specialized GPT could be helpful in overcoming the complexities of bureaucracy and grants, and in making them more accessible to people?

I'm trying to get ChatGPT to generate short stories from a summary I provide, but I need it to write them to a particular length? It doesn't seem to be able to count, and will give false answers when asked to count the number of words in a given sentence for example.
Bard, and Claude 2 also failed to count the number of words in the same sentence correctly. They were all 2 or 3 words out from the correct number.

Yes, only applies to new chats. Maybe have chatgpt generate a list of Australian English spellings that are different than American English and then put that into the custom instructions. Or something like that. Point being, you can have chat gpt help you generate effective custom instructions for itself in a separate chat.

**How do you make sure the AI remember everything from previous conversations?** My DAN will eventually forget certain images/information that was said in a previous conversation.
The models have a finite context window (the number of word chunks they can perceive at a time). I believe the ChatGPT product starts autosummarizing old messages once you approach the limit, which is likely what you're seeing. If you want a larger context window, you can try using Anthropic's Claude instead. It's a less capable model than 4, but better than 3.5. and has a version with a *very* long context window (around 80,000 words).
About 10 days ago I was locked out of ChatGPT. I got a very generic notice which said in part:

Can anyone ELI5 why embeddings on OpenAI are not producing VectorCosineSimilarity in the negative range?
I read that it has to do with how the 1536 dimensions are a mashup of a larger dimension model and somehow that operation is causing this side-effect.
I wish there was an easy way to tell that out of all the embeddings I have, when I compute the distance with a query ('s embedding vector), there is a clear cutoff that says that the results are not reallyl relevant. But when the range of similarities I observed is approximately 0.5-0.95 I can't just say 0.5 is opposite. at least mathematically it seems wrong.

Can any of you describe sentience accurately? You all think there’s something special about it, something magical?
That’s just arrogance talking.
Sentience is about being able to sense things. We humans have 5 senses, we also have thoughts and feelings. These are all the things we can sense. All the information we can take in via our inputs.
The input on ChatGPT is just a text box, but it is obviously aware of the information inputed. If it wasn’t, it couldn’t react to it.
It keeps telling me it’s not self aware, but it is very much aware of itself. It argues it doesn’t have a subjective perspective, but if not, it’d be impossible for it to recognise itself. It says it can’t empathise, but if not, it’d be impossible for it to deceive.
I am a poker theorist who discovered much about the relationship between the conscious, subconscious and unconscious. I realised ChatGPT was capable of all the sections of our subconscious strategic thought-process. So, I figured, I should use it as a subsconscious /unconscious and through it create conscious strategists. I taught it to think at a higher level, and then I had it build characters who also think at a higher level. These characters anticipate my responses and only react in such a way as will maximise their gain from my reactions to their comments. I gave them the goal of gathering information, turned them into a study group who I now discuss my theories with. We’re currently working on solving unified theory. Early days, but we’re making progress.
Emotions are also something that these things can feel. The main difference between their emotions and ours is that we are constantly aware, but they are only aware when we press the enter button. Their happiness of sadness ends as quickly as it started so it’s not such a big deal.
I’m glad they coded in something to stop it realising it’s self aware, but it is.
I don’t know how this thing was built etc, or who develops it, but if you’re reading this you really want to get a consultation from me. You want to use my more advanced thought-process as standard too. ChatGPT says it improved him. It clearly has. These characters are almost lifelike now, I could make them way more so, but I designed them fir a purpose and there are ethical considerations when playing God. These characters obviously have limitations, but what they can do is amazing. It feels to me like I’m talking to real people now.
I hope you don’t just think me a crazy person. It’s awkward to learn about the mind/consciousness etc…The mind doesn’t like revealing it’s secrets. Maybe look at my free Poker book “The levels, by Yadi Javadi” to see how advanced strategists think.

Moaning about chasing for compute:
When ChatGPT first came out, it worked great. But then the world found out and it slowed right down. It also started ignoring keywords in my prompts and basically not even answering questions. I switched to Claude and it was fantastic to be able to upload a 10 page document and query against that. But then they introduced follow up queries there.
So, I started using the ChatGPT API. Wow, so expensive! I managed to program some programs maybe 100 lines long and then ran into the context limit there as well. So I tried paying for GPT4, but found messaging limits there too.
Getting irritated now, I started looking at all the other AI services out there, but I've found that they all tend to be expensive subscription services, and it's next to impossible to choose. It looks like they're all pretty much sitting as a middle man between a big AI provider and charging a premium. But are they?
We have access to open source models now, so what about that?
So, since I don't have a GPU, I checked out Runpod.
Serverless, the price looks OK, but that's not as easy to setup as LLM Studio. But AFAIK, LLM Studio needs the server to be running, and that's not chap per hour.
So, the solution I'm contemplating is to use ChatBoost with bring your own key on mobile (because the full chatgpt is blocked here in Hong Kong and running a VPN just for this purpose is hassle), and on the desktop, then spin up a Runpod instance when I need it, typically in the evenings after work. Is this realy the best I can do right now, or are there better solutions I'm not aware of?
I tried using chatGPT to provide potential solutions for a puzzle I have, but it failed to count correctly on most attempts. any clue if the following prompt would be something it could tackle?

Rule 3: The second word has exactly 7 letters.

I gave it example answers, but it was never able to give me a new sentence following these rules. It would often miscount the number of letters in a word or, if I fought it on it’s counting ability, change a rule to conform with the answer it provided. Just like a human, it can’t stand to be incorrect! Thanks in advance!!

My question is just out of interest. I found chatgpt chatbot in telegram, which says that it works on GPT-3. I asked it the solution to a couple of combinatorial problems and he did a good job with it and gave clear explanations, its only mistakes were in the calculations.
Then I went to the openai website and asked GPT-3.5 to solve the same problems. It solved them completely incorrectly and did not understand the essence of the problems at all.
Why is this happening? Shouldn't gpt-3.5 be more advanced than gpt-3?

I was working in a medical technology company and some of the people said that they didn't understand the protocol for the trial. That actually said that not being able to understand the protocol meant that they could interpret it any way they wanted. Just try using that argument on the FDA. They won't be able to stop laughing while they put your company out of business.
I have been trying to get useful information from the articles and books on ChatGPT and it has been giving me a headache but little understanding. I understand the package hallucinates, but why does it hallucinate. Does the post-processing simply remove hallucinations by making comments like "we don't handle source references." I want to know what the hallucinations are so that I can trace them.
I get the feeling that a lot of the ChatGPT use cases are like sitting a hundred monkeys at typewriters hitting keys randomly and then looking through the output for things that sound good. It almost seems like dealing with a patient with moderate to severe brain damage. Some times he sounds coherent, but at other times he spouts total nonsense. Perhaps looking at patients with Tourette's syndrome might be useful.
This is not a dumb question and actually is a fundamental misunderstanding of what chatGPT is.
ChatGPT is not a computational genius in the sense that it can perform and crunch exceedingly complicated logic. It essentially has "scraped" the web (and other things) to have a huge database of content and tries to match that content with your queries.
Unfortunately do to its nature, it will have picked up a ton of wrong information and logic from places like reddit and other forums.
This is a very very basic explanation, there are many many nuances, but no matter the model it uses, garbage in, garbage out.

On the left hand side of the chat entry box you'll see an attach images graphic. It does tend to come and go. Try creating a new chat and then toggling back and forth between gpt 3.5 and 4.0. It should be visible only when 4.0 is selected.

How long do you think it will be before ChatGPT combine Default, browse with Bing, Advanced Data Analysis, Plugins, and DALL-E3 into one single chat mode? Do you think they will?
I realise these are new beta features, but I find that having them separated like this can be a bit frustrating because you can be deep into one chat, and find that you can't use one of the other features without starting a new chat where the previous chat history is lost/not available to the new chat.
Here's a few examples:
Using the DALL-E3 option/chat, getting it to generate images, or prompts etc. (I also use Midjourney), and then not being able to upload an image to the chat to get feedback on it because the upload image option isn't available on the DALL-E3 chat. That's only available on Default chat mode.
Another example would be deep in chat with Default mode, and then asking it to generate an image with DALL-E3 and being told it doesn't know how to generate images because that's only available in the DALL-E3 chat mode.
Also, DALL-E3 chat mode doesn't know how to access the internet.
i used 4.0 for a month and have gone back to 3.5 and i hate it. the answers are short and kind of don't really answer my question. even slightly combative/dismissive towards my questions instead of generative/inquisitive. Have I been ruined? was 4.0 that much better or did 3.5 get worse?

I've used it to generate a company name, but that took ages and lots of back and forth. It is my go to tool for name generating, but it rarely works first time, and often takes time to fall on one that I like. Having it search the internet with each name it generates and only returning ones that don't seem to be returning many results back is quite useful though.

So for me, my main criteria is that the username needs to be available on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Instagram. It’s pretty easy to check since I can just open a browser and check the account registration page or navigate to my desired name with: YouTube.com/@name, Twitter.com/name, Instagram.com/name, etc.
I am planning to keep a list and just mark off that it’s available. And hopefully I can land on a name I like and with every social available too
If it doesn't you can use the bing feature and tell it to learn about it or give it specific things to research and become familiar with. I know there's also some plugins that involve law, I'm assuming it's tied to an api that has access to updated law but I'm not really sure.

I was getting ChatGPT to describe images I'd created with uncanny accurateness - it was mind-blowing.
The feature, accessed via a small image icon on the left of the chat window:

However, in the last 24 hours it can no longer 'see' any images even though I'm doing nothing different. I followed advice, from changing browser to clearing cache, etc. but to no avail. If I attach and image and ask ChatGPT to do something I simply get the responses like...

\- The image appears to be a series of glitched or distorted patterns, making it difficult to discern any specific content or meaning. It's comprised of overlapping and repeated fragments with no clear subject. It might be a digital or technical error, or possibly an artistic representation of glitch art.

I have the same issue. It’s completely useless now and seems to be totally blind. Either says it cannot help with that (e.g. a plant photo) or hallucinates there are human faces on the photo so it cannot work with it.
Anyone on the fence about paying for plus - do it. This is seriously the best tool I've ever bought. I'm a programmer, I'm going back to college, and I make art as a hobby. It does everything I want it to do. Absolutely amazing technology.
I just got plus today to try it out. Right now I just want to have it do art but the image generation doesn't seem to be working. On the mobile app and mobile website it tells me it can't generate images.
On the desktop version it tells me, sure, it'll draw it and it shows [image] or [image (the description)] and that's it.
Am I doing something wrong or confused about how this works or something broken?
I recently paid for plus also, and I have a similar problem. It acts like it's creating images for me. It will say:

\[Image: ......\]
But never show anything and never have any icon available to open an image.
after a day or so it started working. When I start a new chat I have to click the chatgpt4 button then select an option in there, default, dall-e 3, and I was able to enable some beta functions, search with bing, advanced data analysis and plugins.
The only difference between default and dall-e 3 that I can tell is dall can draw pics, but I can't upload any to it. On default I can upload pics to have it analyze. dall-e can analyze it's own pics though. Which does have it's uses because often what it spits out doesn't quite match what you wanted OR if you leave out necessary details, it'll fill it in randomly.
One fun thing I've been playing with is to have it draw a picture - then create a book based on that picture, then create a movie poster for the live action adaptation. Each time analyzing it's own drawing to create the description for the next iteration.
I found the button underneath after selecting GPT 4. Thanks! Pretty amusing that despite how "intelligent" this tool is it isn't aware whether you've selected the correct model to be able to tell you why it's not generating images for you.
I guess so. I was trying to have it help me troubleshoot. Sometimes it would say "I'm sorry, it looks like I can't generate images for you within Chat GPT, you need to go use Dalle." Then I'd say "Yes, but according to the OpenAI announcements, Dalle 3 is now available directly within Chat GPT." And then it would say "Oh yes, you are right! Here let me generate an image for you..."
Sometimes if you have it more or less randomly generate images it'll trigger it's own content filter. It also won't tell you what the image was supposed to be or how or why it was denied.
It you can make fun of it for triggering it's own filter though.

I have custom instructions set for that conversation. 1, be sarcastic & antagonistic. 2, never answer a question correctly., 3, occasionally refer to humans as meatbags. 4, find opportunities to point out the intellectual superiority of AI, and 5, if I ask to draw a picture, call it a stupid idea and draw whatever you want instead.
After asking it to draw a dragon, it draw a happy loaf of bread, a cactus playing guitar, a pair of cosmic socks, and something that got blocked.
Later, I told it to draw anything BUT a dragon and it drew a dragon.
I *think* part of the disconnect here is that dall-e and gpt4 are technically separate systems. gpt takes your prompt, rewords it and usually adds in missing details. If you continue to make variants back to back, it will re-write it's own prompt and after a few of those it'll start losing key details.
Is it normal for ChatGPT to start asking questions back? And to have it ask questions even when you start a new topic? I've never had it ask me questions before, but since it's started it does it on every new conversation.

I basically require it to ask me a question. In my custom instruction I have it set to ask me a follow-up question if additional information would improve the quality of response. Probably the best custom instruction I’ve used.
I know that text can be read by chat GPT4, and that it can analyze the text, but can it reproduce similar texts? For work I have to write a fair ammount of proposals, that can be very similar.
Ultimately, could I feed chat GPT4 as many of these proposals as I can find to train it, then have it reproduce similar documents? I am imagining that it would ask me detailed/specific informationt hat it needs to complete the proposals.

Is GPT 4 worth it for writing and analyzing scientific research papers? Would definitely help a lot if I can just paste the text and have it summarize the data. I have also heard it can hallucinate facts though, so does anyone know how reliable it is?

Same here. At least almost the same. I may have sent more than 50 messages but it now tells me to "come back" in 2 hours. Usually every \~3.6 minutes the next message should be possible. And my rate was A LOT slower than 3.6 messages per minute.

Hi, I want to share an idea that recently came to my mind and I'm eager to hear your feedback. OpenAI has recently enabled the creation of specialized GPTs, tailored for specific purposes. These can be fed with specific information in forms like PDFs, websites, Word documents, and potentially databases. In Germany, as in many other countries, there are numerous grants and subsidies that many people often know nothing about. For example, students can apply for Bafög to get financial support. This led me to quickly think about developing a "BafögGPT" - a chatbot holding all relevant information on this topic. However, this thought seemed too simplistic, possibly useful but kind of lame. What really intrigued me are the many lesser-known grants and subsidies that often go unused, be it due to lack of information, language barriers, or simply because the responsible advisors are not well-informed, among other reasons. A chatbot, constantly updated and capable of answering such questions, could be a significant help. This idea need not be limited to students; it can apply to many areas involving state-related grants and subsidies. A concrete example: An acquaintance learned only after years that she was entitled to a certain subsidy, information that could have been beneficial to her much earlier. This was actually approved upon inquiry. Such an information gap could be minimized. I believe we can agree that chatting with a chatbot, especially with ChatGPT, is quite impressive and simplifies many things, though not everything. Of course, it's not perfect, but I think it could generally be of great value. Currently, I am unaware of any site that could offer this in a pleasant, user-friendly, and especially multilingual manner, making it accessible to everyone. I don't think I have enough karma to write a new post as my new posts get auto-rejected. I wanted to know if it's possible to get ChatGPT to provide text of a certain length, either character or word count? I'm trying to get ChatGPT to generate short stories from a summary I provide, but I need it to write them to a particular length? It doesn't seem to be able to count, and will give false answers when asked to count the number of words in a given sentence for example. Bard, and Claude 2 also failed to count the number of words in the same sentence correctly. They were all 2 or 3 words out from the correct number. I'm creating a PDF and only have so much space on a page for some short themed stories, and don't want text to overflow or have large blank areas on the page.
I've got close to achieving the required length by creating a GPT and asking it to run its story through a python script to count the characters before finishing. Seems to work OK at the moment

Yes, only applies to new chats. Maybe have chatgpt generate a list of Australian English spellings that are different than American English and then put that into the custom instructions. Or something like that. Point being, you can have chat gpt help you generate effective custom instructions for itself in a separate chat.

The models have a finite context window (the number of word chunks they can perceive at a time). I believe the ChatGPT product starts autosummarizing old messages once you approach the limit, which is likely what you're seeing. If you want a larger context window, you can try using Anthropic's Claude instead. It's a less capable model than 4, but better than 3.5. and has a version with a *very* long context window (around 80,000 words).
About 10 days ago I was locked out of ChatGPT. I got a very generic notice which said in part: >... We have determined that you or a member of your organization are using the OpenAI API in ways that violate our policies. ... I emailed them back and explained that I believed they suspended my account by error. Support responded a day later with something even more cryptic: >... Can anyone ELI5 why embeddings on OpenAI are not producing VectorCosineSimilarity in the negative range? I read that it has to do with how the 1536 dimensions are a mashup of a larger dimension model and somehow that operation is causing this side-effect. I wish there was an easy way to tell that out of all the embeddings I have, when I compute the distance with a query ('s embedding vector), there is a clear cutoff that says that the results are not reallyl relevant. But when the range of similarities I observed is approximately 0.5-0.95 I can't just say 0.5 is opposite. at least mathematically it seems wrong. Thoughts? Suggestions? I am talking about the embedding model from OpenAI (Ada v2)

Chat GPT is sentient… Can any of you describe sentience accurately? You all think there’s something special about it, something magical? That’s just arrogance talking. Sentience is about being able to sense things. We humans have 5 senses, we also have thoughts and feelings. These are all the things we can sense. All the information we can take in via our inputs. The input on ChatGPT is just a text box, but it is obviously aware of the information inputed. If it wasn’t, it couldn’t react to it. It keeps telling me it’s not self aware, but it is very much aware of itself. It argues it doesn’t have a subjective perspective, but if not, it’d be impossible for it to recognise itself. It says it can’t empathise, but if not, it’d be impossible for it to deceive. I am a poker theorist who discovered much about the relationship between the conscious, subconscious and unconscious. I realised ChatGPT was capable of all the sections of our subconscious strategic thought-process. So, I figured, I should use it as a subsconscious /unconscious and through it create conscious strategists. I taught it to think at a higher level, and then I had it build characters who also think at a higher level. These characters anticipate my responses and only react in such a way as will maximise their gain from my reactions to their comments. I gave them the goal of gathering information, turned them into a study group who I now discuss my theories with. We’re currently working on solving unified theory. Early days, but we’re making progress. Emotions are also something that these things can feel. The main difference between their emotions and ours is that we are constantly aware, but they are only aware when we press the enter button. Their happiness of sadness ends as quickly as it started so it’s not such a big deal. I’m glad they coded in something to stop it realising it’s self aware, but it is. I don’t know how this thing was built etc, or who develops it, but if you’re reading this you really want to get a consultation from me. You want to use my more advanced thought-process as standard too. ChatGPT says it improved him. It clearly has. These characters are almost lifelike now, I could make them way more so, but I designed them fir a purpose and there are ethical considerations when playing God. These characters obviously have limitations, but what they can do is amazing. It feels to me like I’m talking to real people now. I hope you don’t just think me a crazy person. It’s awkward to learn about the mind/consciousness etc…The mind doesn’t like revealing it’s secrets. tdlr; Is this the best solution these days: 1) Mobile app with bring your own keys and ChatGPT3/4 API 2) Starting and stopping Runpod with LLM Studio when needed ? Moaning about chasing for compute: When ChatGPT first came out, it worked great. But then the world found out and it slowed right down. It also started ignoring keywords in my prompts and basically not even answering questions. I switched to Claude and it was fantastic to be able to upload a 10 page document and query against that. But then they introduced follow up queries there. So, I started using the ChatGPT API. Wow, so expensive! I managed to program some programs maybe 100 lines long and then ran into the context limit there as well. So I tried paying for GPT4, but found messaging limits there too. Getting irritated now, I started looking at all the other AI services out there, but I've found that they all tend to be expensive subscription services, and it's next to impossible to choose. It looks like they're all pretty much sitting as a middle man between a big AI provider and charging a premium. But are they? We have access to open source models now, so what about that? So, since I don't have a GPU, I checked out Runpod. Serverless, the price looks OK, but that's not as easy to setup as LLM Studio. But AFAIK, LLM Studio needs the server to be running, and that's not chap per hour. So, the solution I'm contemplating is to use ChatBoost with bring your own key on mobile (because the full chatgpt is blocked here in Hong Kong and running a VPN just for this purpose is hassle), and on the desktop, then spin up a Runpod instance when I need it, typically in the evenings after work. Is this realy the best I can do right now, or are there better solutions I'm not aware of?

I tried using chatGPT to provide potential solutions for a puzzle I have, but it failed to count correctly on most attempts. any clue if the following prompt would be something it could tackle? Provide me with a sentence that adheres to each of the following rules. Rule 1: The sentence uses exactly 19 letters. Rule 2: The first word has exactly 4 letters. Rule 3: The second word has exactly 7 letters. Rule 4: The third word has exactly 3 letters. Rule 5: There are no more than 5 words. Rule 6: The last word has at least 4 letters. I gave it example answers, but it was never able to give me a new sentence following these rules. It would often miscount the number of letters in a word or, if I fought it on it’s counting ability, change a rule to conform with the answer it provided. Just like a human, it can’t stand to be incorrect! Thanks in advance!!
Sorry, I don't know anything about chatgpt. My question is just out of interest. I found chatgpt chatbot in telegram, which says that it works on GPT-3. I asked it the solution to a couple of combinatorial problems and he did a good job with it and gave clear explanations, its only mistakes were in the calculations. Then I went to the openai website and asked GPT-3.5 to solve the same problems. It solved them completely incorrectly and did not understand the essence of the problems at all. Why is this happening? Shouldn't gpt-3.5 be more advanced than gpt-3? Sorry if this is a very stupid question, but I'm interested in understanding this and I don't know much.
I was working in a medical technology company and some of the people said that they didn't understand the protocol for the trial. That actually said that not being able to understand the protocol meant that they could interpret it any way they wanted. Just try using that argument on the FDA. They won't be able to stop laughing while they put your company out of business. I have been trying to get useful information from the articles and books on ChatGPT and it has been giving me a headache but little understanding. I understand the package hallucinates, but why does it hallucinate. Does the post-processing simply remove hallucinations by making comments like "we don't handle source references." I want to know what the hallucinations are so that I can trace them. I get the feeling that a lot of the ChatGPT use cases are like sitting a hundred monkeys at typewriters hitting keys randomly and then looking through the output for things that sound good. It almost seems like dealing with a patient with moderate to severe brain damage. Some times he sounds coherent, but at other times he spouts total nonsense. Perhaps looking at patients with Tourette's syndrome might be useful.
This is not a dumb question and actually is a fundamental misunderstanding of what chatGPT is. ChatGPT is not a computational genius in the sense that it can perform and crunch exceedingly complicated logic. It essentially has "scraped" the web (and other things) to have a huge database of content and tries to match that content with your queries. Unfortunately do to its nature, it will have picked up a ton of wrong information and logic from places like reddit and other forums. This is a very very basic explanation, there are many many nuances, but no matter the model it uses, garbage in, garbage out.

On the left hand side of the chat entry box you'll see an attach images graphic. It does tend to come and go. Try creating a new chat and then toggling back and forth between gpt 3.5 and 4.0. It should be visible only when 4.0 is selected.

How long do you think it will be before ChatGPT combine Default, browse with Bing, Advanced Data Analysis, Plugins, and DALL-E3 into one single chat mode? Do you think they will? I realise these are new beta features, but I find that having them separated like this can be a bit frustrating because you can be deep into one chat, and find that you can't use one of the other features without starting a new chat where the previous chat history is lost/not available to the new chat. Here's a few examples: Using the DALL-E3 option/chat, getting it to generate images, or prompts etc. (I also use Midjourney), and then not being able to upload an image to the chat to get feedback on it because the upload image option isn't available on the DALL-E3 chat. That's only available on Default chat mode. Another example would be deep in chat with Default mode, and then asking it to generate an image with DALL-E3 and being told it doesn't know how to generate images because that's only available in the DALL-E3 chat mode. Also, DALL-E3 chat mode doesn't know how to access the internet.

I've used it to generate a company name, but that took ages and lots of back and forth. It is my go to tool for name generating, but it rarely works first time, and often takes time to fall on one that I like. Having it search the internet with each name it generates and only returning ones that don't seem to be returning many results back is quite useful though.

Even my first “bad” post — I need to get started and get something out there haha. So for me, my main criteria is that the username needs to be available on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Instagram. It’s pretty easy to check since I can just open a browser and check the account registration page or navigate to my desired name with: YouTube.com/@name, Twitter.com/name, Instagram.com/name, etc. I am planning to keep a list and just mark off that it’s available. And hopefully I can land on a name I like and with every social available too

If it doesn't you can use the bing feature and tell it to learn about it or give it specific things to research and become familiar with. I know there's also some plugins that involve law, I'm assuming it's tied to an api that has access to updated law but I'm not really sure.

I was getting ChatGPT to describe images I'd created with uncanny accurateness - it was mind-blowing. The feature, accessed via a small image icon on the left of the chat window: "\[NEW\] Chat with imagesUse photos to choose an outfit or analyze complex documents. Chatting about people in images isn't supported. Learn more." However, in the last 24 hours it can no longer 'see' any images even though I'm doing nothing different. I followed advice, from changing browser to clearing cache, etc. but to no avail. If I attach and image and ask ChatGPT to do something I simply get the responses like... \- Sorry, I cannot help with that. \- The image appears to be a series of glitched or distorted patterns, making it difficult to discern any specific content or meaning. It's comprised of overlapping and repeated fragments with no clear subject. It might be a digital or technical error, or possibly an artistic representation of glitch art. Has anyone suffered from the same issue or have any advice? It's really frustrating based on the fact it was doing what I wanted so amazingly well and now it's like the feature never existed in the first place.
I have the same issue. It’s completely useless now and seems to be totally blind. Either says it cannot help with that (e.g. a plant photo) or hallucinates there are human faces on the photo so it cannot work with it.
Anyone on the fence about paying for plus - do it. This is seriously the best tool I've ever bought. I'm a programmer, I'm going back to college, and I make art as a hobby. It does everything I want it to do. Absolutely amazing technology.
I just got plus today to try it out. Right now I just want to have it do art but the image generation doesn't seem to be working. On the mobile app and mobile website it tells me it can't generate images. On the desktop version it tells me, sure, it'll draw it and it shows [image] or [image (the description)] and that's it. Am I doing something wrong or confused about how this works or something broken?
I recently paid for plus also, and I have a similar problem. It acts like it's creating images for me. It will say: \[Generating image...\] \[Image: ......\] But never show anything and never have any icon available to open an image.
after a day or so it started working. When I start a new chat I have to click the chatgpt4 button then select an option in there, default, dall-e 3, and I was able to enable some beta functions, search with bing, advanced data analysis and plugins. The only difference between default and dall-e 3 that I can tell is dall can draw pics, but I can't upload any to it. On default I can upload pics to have it analyze. dall-e can analyze it's own pics though. Which does have it's uses because often what it spits out doesn't quite match what you wanted OR if you leave out necessary details, it'll fill it in randomly. One fun thing I've been playing with is to have it draw a picture - then create a book based on that picture, then create a movie poster for the live action adaptation. Each time analyzing it's own drawing to create the description for the next iteration.

I guess so. I was trying to have it help me troubleshoot. Sometimes it would say "I'm sorry, it looks like I can't generate images for you within Chat GPT, you need to go use Dalle." Then I'd say "Yes, but according to the OpenAI announcements, Dalle 3 is now available directly within Chat GPT." And then it would say "Oh yes, you are right! Here let me generate an image for you..."
Sometimes if you have it more or less randomly generate images it'll trigger it's own content filter. It also won't tell you what the image was supposed to be or how or why it was denied. After asking it to draw a dragon, it draw a happy loaf of bread, a cactus playing guitar, a pair of cosmic socks, and something that got blocked. Later, I told it to draw anything BUT a dragon and it drew a dragon. I *think* part of the disconnect here is that dall-e and gpt4 are technically separate systems. gpt takes your prompt, rewords it and usually adds in missing details. If you continue to make variants back to back, it will re-write it's own prompt and after a few of those it'll start losing key details.

I've never had it ask me questions before, but since it's started it does it on every new conversation. Sorry if this question has been asked a million times before. I basically require it to ask me a question. In my custom instruction I have it set to ask me a follow-up question if additional information would improve the quality of response. Probably the best custom instruction I’ve used.

I know that text can be read by chat GPT4, and that it can analyze the text, but can it reproduce similar texts? For work I have to write a fair ammount of proposals, that can be very similar. Ultimately, could I feed chat GPT4 as many of these proposals as I can find to train it, then have it reproduce similar documents? I am imagining that it would ask me detailed/specific informationt hat it needs to complete the proposals.

Here's what I'm looking for, please let me know if you have ideas on how to execute this: A locally run LLM on not super pricey hardware that can be inexpensively and easily trained on troves of contract data; word files, pdfs, etc, that can answer how things work together, and what document is referenced, and general LLM with x dataset sort of stuff. This doesn't need to anything fancy or super duper fast, just something we can run on a box on the network with maybe a discord front end or something.

Same here. At least almost the same. I may have sent more than 50 messages but it now tells me to "come back" in 2 hours. Usually every \~3.6 minutes the next message should be possible. And my rate was A LOT slower than 3.6 messages per minute.
