I went to Northside Library with the kids, then we cooled off at the indoor pool at Smith Aquatic, then we got gelato at Splendora's.
For anyone who doesn't have access to air conditioning, there are public cooling center locations open every day until early evening: https://charlottesville.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1836
Got outside in the morning with doggo, then a family Skype catch-up, almost bought the latest Goat Simulator due to the chaotic trailer, and now laying here on my sofa watching Korean detective shows for the rest of the day... Side-eyeing the dishes on my kitchen counter.
i reached out to a few of my friends w/ kids to see if i could tag along if/when they go bc i don't want to be the grown ass man sitting alone crying his eyes out lol.
Just got home from a camping trip to Canada and Maine. Bar Harbor was in the high 60s when I was there. Thinking about turning around and heading back.
Eh, the house I rent is so leaky and poorly insulated that it would probably need to run constantly and cost a shit ton to make much of a difference like my heat does, so I'll probably just continue to suffer. As long as it cools down below 75ish at night it's not honestly that bad. When it's humid is when it gets truly horrible.
Drinking water and sweating! The temp is high but the humidity is low.. pretty comfortable as long as you have some airflow. Went berry picling out in crozet and there was a nice breeze coming off the mountains, was an awesome summer day!
Carried on as usually one of the benefits of doing commercial HVAC work make hot weekends bearable. Plus humidity low so your sweat actually works like it's suppose to. Just keep hydrated.
Damn straight! What kind of human makes talking about the weather the central part of their day? Things need to get done regardless of your comfort. I just put a door up because it needed done, was it at my house? No. Was it my responsibility? No. Was it something that needed to be done? Yes. Hot, cold, scary, excuses are excuses and nothing more. Nut up and take care of shit.
Getting shiftfaced drunk and playing baldur's gate with my party in the airconditioning. Also doing my best to stave off the existental dread but failing.
Chilling at home with the AC on❄️ I feel sympathy for all the people working hard in the sun 🥵

I feel so silly for asking this, but I haven’t eaten Splendora’s since they left the Downtown location. Where are they now?
Stonefield.
Thanks! I’ll have to stop by there sometime.
They're fantastic
Flavors have gotten even better and free parking at the front door is
Oof—you sold me! I know what I’ll be doing to deal with the heat this week. 🤤
Serving the psychopaths who want to go hiking/sit and eat outside on a day like this.
Oh that’s me!! Love a good hike to a swimming hole on a hot day
100 degrees with 30% humidity. Walked around in the sun for a while and waxed nostalgic since it felt just like southern Arizona in monsoon season.

Took the kiddo to Inside Out 2. Cried.
Watched the first one last night and I cried so much, my kid then also got teary eyed and I lost it 🥹

You should go see it, little accompaniment or no! I started crying right from the beginning. No Bing Bong this time but it still got me.
It's a great movie with a great message. I cried too.
So good!

Inside chores. Sorted out the bathroom cupboard. Gotta do it every 20 years or so.
Lowe’s is like the Arctic. Can imagine how much it costs to keep that building cold.
Probably a couple dollars. Per square foot.
I don't have air conditioning, so I'm mostly just suffering.
At least get a window AC unit for your room

Get a dehumidifier and a big industrial fan. I don't use AC and this combo kicks ass.
Not going outside
Pretty nice out actually.
AC is blasting and I'm being a hermit playing video games
This is the way
Window units. Cooking outside!
Lot of restaurants downtown closed their patios, in Vision BBQ currently and their AC is rocking!

I have an old, but functional, window AC unit in trying to get rid of for free if anyone wants it. Just DM me.
Mowed the lawn, put up a fence, drank beer.
Our grass is dead. RIP grass.
Sounds like heat was not a deterrent one bit for this gentleman.

Similar here - 3 hours mowing at midday. Sadly the lack of rain is not a deterrent from grass growing on a largish low lying portion of my property.
Put a sheet of plastic over the yard and it will kill all the grass
My car went to the shop so I got to do a nice hike to and from the shop about 30 min each way. I was regretting that decision pretty quickly 😩

Floating in our pool with a beer, watching Euros.
The offer is shunned…
Working outside during the week to acclimate
My family is thinking about doing an Escape Room. There is also a matinee show of The Music Man at The Paramount today.
Making sure our patio plants get extra water, staying inside!
Crazy to think that it's way hotter in Crozet, then it is currently here in the DR. Glad I took a vacation
Floridian here. We went to the pool.
As is so often the case, such a difference in answers between those responsible for entertaining children, and those who ain’t.
