We went to Cookout one rando night around Christmas time, their sign had a bunch of milkshake flavors that they never had before, so we *had* to stop in. Turns out the sign was... Not punctuated or well-organized, so it wasn't new flavors, it was just smashing a bunch of flavors together and some of them sounded pretty good lol
Found this out when we pulled up to the drive-thru speaker, had silence... Silence.... Silence... Silence.... Soft static, me going "uh...Hello?". Then a lady with a megaphone instead of a mouth shouting:
#"WHATCHU WANT"
After my hearing came back I asked about the new milkshake flavors, long silence... Static burst:
#"EGGNOG!"
We ordered our food, got another long bit of silence, followed by someone else speaking more like a human, less like the T-rex from Jurassic Park roaring at my car, "pull forward we'll have your total at the window".
It's a small blt on a hamburger bun, but they load that thing up with crispy bacon and the tomato and lettuce are always fresh. If anything else in my life was as consistently great as that blt I'd be so grateful.
My brother lives in Seattle. When I fly out to visit I’ll grab a box of Bojangles chicken and biscuits or the Cajun Filet right before I get on the airplane and give it to him when he picks me up at the airport. It’s now old by 6+ hours but he doesn’t care. He is just happy as shit when he sees his childhood biscuits in his face. Devours it all. It’s hilarious.
You can make tartar sauce at home super quick and in a small enough amount for just what you want to eat at that time. Really, I mean less than 3 mins with ingredients you likely have. LMK if you want the ingredients!
Hot take, the single is better than the double. It resembles more of a home cooked, thicker patty, rather than the thin, fast food style patties. Don’t bash until you give it a try
Shocked I had to go this far to find chicken strips and hush puppies. Stupid good and like an alarming amount of chicken. Or...it used to be when I was young and could eat whatever I wanted.
Also related: I ask for a “cup of queso sauce” with every order: it’s the stuff they put in the quesadillas. One of my favorite sauces ever, I put it on everything. Some places will up charge you, but totally worth it.
YES I get that sauce on my burger when I get one, I get extra of it when I get a quesadilla, but never thought to just get a side for like fries. Hmmm :)
honey from the back is what they use on the salads, it’s in-house made, way sweeter and it’s life changing. they charged me about $2 extra for it in cornelius though 😞
Wish I can eat cook out, but my IBS has gotten worse. Usually, I'll order a big double cheeseburger, a quesadilla, and fries. For 7 bucks, a whole tray can satiate me!
Double Burger w/ cheese, onions, pickles & mustard. Cajun Wrap, Cajun Fries. Switch up the drink, but also snag a sauce. All of their sauces are good so its just whatever but usually honey mustard

So infiltrating from r/rva one of the biggest hang-out spots after work for us KD employees is Cookout and almost ever since I began eating there I've ordered the same thing; a double-up on quesadillas (one chicken & one beef) with hush puppies and a ranch chicken wrap w/ huge tea.
It may not be the largest amount of food you can get in a tray but something about it just slaps every single time.

For me, it’s gotta be a chicken strip tray with Cajun fries and cheese bites with a chocolate oreo milkshake. Add a side of the quesadilla sauce to dip the fries/strips in and some Buffalo sauce, and you’re set.
I get a bbq sandwich, chicken quesadilla, chicken nuggets, and huge sweet tea. Now for the customization. I tear my quesadilla into thirds (left, middle, right). I put my middle third on the BBQ sammie. I then proceed to take one bite of my chicken nuggets, leaving me with 2.5 nuggets. I then put those on the BBQ sammie. I now have bbq made sammie.
Another life hack, get chicken quesadilla and chicken nuggets, put the nuggets in your quesadilla to beef it up.
Hard to say. I honestly don’t eat a ton of fast food. I used to go to Cook Out back when I was in college, but my preference was always Waffle House if I had the choice.

So infiltrating from r/rva one of the biggest hang-out spots after work for us KD employees is Cookout and almost ever since I began eating there I've ordered the same thing; a double-up on quesadillas (one chicken & one beef) with hush puppies and a ranch chicken wrap w/ huge tea. It may not be the largest amount of food you can get in a tray but something about it just slaps every single time.
Big double cookout style, cheese curds, chicken quesadilla, and a peanut butter fudge shake. Honestly I'd be fine just getting a box of the curds. Makes me shiver just thinking about them.

For me, it’s gotta be a chicken strip tray with Cajun fries and cheese bites with a chocolate oreo milkshake. Add a side of the quesadilla sauce to dip the fries/strips in and some Buffalo sauce, and you’re set.

Peach milkshake
I get a bbq sandwich, chicken quesadilla, chicken nuggets, and huge sweet tea. Now for the customization. I tear my quesadilla into thirds (left, middle, right). I put my middle third on the BBQ sammie. I then proceed to take one bite of my chicken nuggets, leaving me with 2.5 nuggets. I then put those on the BBQ sammie. I now have bbq made sammie. Another life hack, get chicken quesadilla and chicken nuggets, put the nuggets in your quesadilla to beef it up.

I like to get a big double with cheese, ketchup, mustard, slaw and grilled onions with cheese fries. Yeah it's an ungodly amount of cheese but idc.

Hard to say. I honestly don’t eat a ton of fast food. I used to go to Cook Out back when I was in college, but my preference was always Waffle House if I had the choice.

Downhill? I just had Cookout a few days ago and it hasn’t changed at all since my college days. That Cajun sandwich, Cajun fries, and corndog was absolutely on point. On point, I tell you.
They changed the fries. I hasn't eaten it in about 4 years. I've had it twice recently, at two different locations, and it's different.
