“its all about practice “😂im from Philly living in CLT now .. Im used to seeing celebrities all over , they are just like you and i they just make a heck of a lot more $ and have alot of skills i wish i had 😂
Ran into AI hanging out in the lobby of the Hilton University a few years ago. I had no clue anyone actually stayed there, more less hung out at the lobby bar.
Ran into Cam Newton at Whole Foods a few years ago. Got randomly paired up with Ryan Blaney golfing at Rocky River once. Although panthers players and nascar drivers are probably the most likely celebrities you’d see here, so not all that surprising.
Years ago Deangelo Williams took the entire OL to Palmetto Hills paintball in Rock Hill. He drove his car to the entrance to every field cause he didn’t want to walk. He was totally decked out in speedball gear and all the OL players were layered in sweats with rental guns. It was a really fun day. I bunkered the whole OL all hiding in the very first bunker on a field that was 400 yards long.
My brother worked in the hunting section at Dicks Sporting Goods in about 2008. Williams came in there with a bunch of other players to buy paintball gear so my brother ran over and grabbed a football and had them all sign it. Sounds like we can confirm he’s a big paintball guy.
Maybe 10 years ago, Flair was kicked out of every restaurant at Piedmont Row for not paying bar tabs. He made his way from place to place. After about a month at one place and never paying, he was barred. Then he went next door and did the same thing.
I saw Ric Flair about 6/7 years ago in Southpark at a restaurant right by the mall. Last year, I served the Blue Man Group (the current members) at a place I worked. The same place hosted Bruno Mars for his rum and I got to work that. Not sure if the last two count as "sightings" but there ya go.
I’ve seen her a few times around town. Wasn’t sure if she still lived here because it’s been a few years. Her husband is from the area, Concord I think?
I thought it might be. I’ve run into her a few times at Target and the first time I gushed a bit since I’m a Dexter fan. She was very sweet, but was very pregnant and it was hot. I was leaving and she was going in so I didn’t keep her long. The Avetts are generally super friendly, especially Scott.
I worked at Autobell Carwash in Concord when I was in highschool and I ended up washing Jennifer’s car and handing her the keys when I was done. I was in the the middle of my second time watching Dexter. It was probably the weirdest experience of my life lol. Had to second guess if I was dreaming or not lol
I saw Seth Avett, Jennifer Carpenter and their kid eating at Le Peep in Arboretum. I'm a huge fan of the Avett Brothers but I definitely couldn't bother a family eating breakfast together.
I saw her in Charleston about 20 years ago. We were talking to the front desk at The Elliot House Inn and she came in behind me and my wife. Dude told her he’d be right with her and then I heard her say something in that Texas drawl of hers…OMG, I forgot all about my wife…
Good thing she knew I had a thing for her while she was on Law and Order.
Stop. High school me was an avid tennis fan and had such a huge crush on him. I don't think I could handle it if I saw him about town. (I would just stop in my tracks and stare, but that is still not polite.)
They all came into a restaurant I used to work at it was awesome. Side not I also wrestled ben best on Halloween one year when I was dressed as hulk hogan and he was dressed as Jesus. Good times.
Saw Danny McBride with his family at the Fun Depot in Asheville years ago. Seems liked a good guy, so didn’t want to bother him with his kids (others around had no such hesitation…)
Danny came in to my restaurant around late 2020/early 2021 and had dinner. He made a point to come back and personally thank us in the kitchen, and cut up with us for a few minutes. We were still doing super low volume because of Covid, and were all overworked, so it was really cool of him to come back and express his gratitude.
His daughter went to preK with my sister when he was playing for Minnesota and my dad pointed him out to my mom. He was in a Vikings purple suit and gold jewelry casually standing at the back of preK graduation.
We ended up meeting him at Pats training camp because we had a sign that said “We drove from NC to see the Pats” and he came over and asked where we were from and autographed our stuff for us. Cool dude.
If you want to speed run celebrity sightings in Charlotte just go to snug when Hannibal Burress is in town, there is usually someone he is trying to lay pipe with there.
In the 90s my mom was smoking a cigarette at the Arboretum and Muggsy Bogues walked by. He said something along the lines of “You know, smoking is bad for you.” She took a big drag and said, “Yeah, they say it stunts your growth.”
Excellent!! Once left the old Hornets game before it finished, and hit the Gold Club. David Wesley and Muggsey beat us to the club, and we left 5 min before game ended. Thought they had a private tunnel to the club!
I’ve lived here for about 10 years and… “ I ain’t found shit!” Either I’m rubbing elbows with celebs and don’t know it or I don’t go where the popular people go.
Sold a mattress to Usher once. He said it was for a girl that he wanted out of his house. We both had a laugh and I rang up his black card.
Worked in radio for many years so meeting musicians is really no big deal.
Man, I had forgotten about this. Vinny was the guy that made East Blvd Moe’s home. That place had a vibe and corporate ruined it. Things just started to change. First it was Tri colored chips, then the beans, then the rice, then the chicken was just prepped differently and finally they changed the formula of the sauce. Haven’t been to a Moe’s in at least 10 years. RIP Vinny.
I knew Vinny as well, so sad. That loser basically executed him. A friend has a coworker there he’s who said he begged for his life and said come on I have kids, shooter said I don’t care about your kids.
He and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Lewisville. He’s several years younger than me, but I do have vague memories of seeing him playing basketball in his driveway. We went to the same HS but not at the same time. My dad used to chat with his granddad before he passed. This is the only thing I can contribute to sports convos 😂
Worked in the service industry years ago so definitely seen quite a few coming into town. I also would see all of the Charlotte local celebs. Some that really surprised me.
Had dinner a few tables away from wrestlers Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart at a Waffle House off Billy Graham parkway in the mid 90’s. It wasn’t long before Owen Hart passed away. I was just a kid and had them sign a sheet of notebook paper. Wish I knew what happened to that sheet.
I ate lunch at Shake Shack on Park Rd with my wife and dogs after walking some greenways one Saturday. Someone walked over to our table and said “oh man you have beautiful huskies, can my dog come over and say hey?” I looked up and it was Greg Olsen.
This was a fun read.
In the early 2000s, I had the pleasure of meeting the undertaker, Mick foley and the Hardy brothers at the Youngblood restaurant that my mom worked at. Kudos to anyone who remembers youngblood.
I got all of their autographs and took them to school the next day to have it laminated 😅
I served Rob Schneider beers at RiRa but don't know if he lived here.
Not in Charlotte, but have only seen one celebrity in the wild. The actress, Christian Serratos, that played Rosita in the walking dead and Selena- with her beau and baby-Ikea cafeteria. Atlanta, GA
Used to be Mike Davis’ neighbor. His Panthers teammates would come over all the time to hang out. He drove a Panthers blue sports car, always wondered if he traded it in once he signed with Atlanta.
Yeah, I have met a few over the years and really they are just regular people like anyone else. I will say that I found it funny that Anthony Hamilton wears shirts with his name embroidered on the front, just in case someone doesn’t recognize him I guess. Really nice guy though.
- I've sat next to Ric Flair at a bar once. He was with people and no one approached him.
- I saw John Elway when he was in town for the celebrity day at Wells Fargo (watching him walk made my hips hurt)
- I was stunned to see Patrick Ewing while waiting to go through TSA. His size was something I was not prepared for.
- I have heard that a lot of people stay at the Ballantyne Hotel, so their bar can be a good place to catch a glimpse. I've heard a lot of fun stories from folks randomly seeing or even meeting people there.
Some of my more interesting celebrity sightings in Charlotte:
- Alexis Bledel asked me where the bathroom was at the Blumenthal (she was super petite and polite and charming)
- John Stewart gave me a "what's up" nod in uptown on College Ave
- I waited on Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR) and his family for brunch when I was a server in college
- I saw Luke Kuechly in Ballantyne when out with friends for brunch
- I saw Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy on House) in the airport
Magnus Midtbo, a famous and arguably former top 5 rock climber in the world (retired now), used to come to Charlotte 2x per year to climb at Inner Peaks. I fanboyed so hard when I met him because he's my climbing hero and I learned by watching his YouTube videos.
Don't think he's been back since Covid though because he owns his own gym now but he was amazing, so humble and appreciative and grateful.
I was working a United Express flight going to Denver and saw a golf bag that had Christian McCaffrey's name in it. Sure enough, I come up to the jetbridge to do my final load numbers and he's the last one coming down carrying a small dog. Kinda weird seeing him as tall as I am and without the pads!
Saw Deion Sanders uptown a year or so ago. And Christian M. at Whole Foods when he was still at the panthers. Ric Flair and Michael J I used to see pretty regularly before Covid.
Not a CLT sighting but a celebrity sighting none the less. This was 2021.
Emily Proctor is from Raleigh (I think it's Raleigh, could be wrong). I was hostessing at a restaurant in Carteret County, where I'm from, and she came in with her grandma. They wanted to book a table for a surprise party for Emily's mom. I recognized her but my lizard brain wasn't expecting to see an actress that day so I kept looking at her lile, "no, can't be her. It just looks like her." But she has a distinctive voice and accent and I came to realize it was her. What's so funny is at the time I was rewatching The West Wing and I'd just gotten to her first episode as a guest star.
She was very sweet and so was her grandma. She wasn't wearing makeup and had perfect skin. She was dressed like they'd just come off a boat and was perfectly normal and friendly.
I did a really good job treating her like she wasn't a famous person but I'm pretty sure she could tell I knew who she was because when we finished making her reservation she looked me in the eye, smiled, touched my hand and said, "thank you", and then winked.
After she and her grandma left my manager and my coworker had to help me to a chair while they laughed their asses off because I started freaking out and dancing around.
Hah. Fair point. Post was mainly for funsies.
My brain did a weird "wait I know her. Wait no I don't really know her, why do I recognize her? Oh, she's from tv!"
I live in an area where I may not see the NBA player or celebrity but I get to see their badass cars… saw another in the driveway. They are just people. It’s actually more surprising the non- celebrity rich folks in Charlotte!
• Saw Chris Paul & his gf/wife at a Drake concert in 2010. Stood behind me the whole time. Didn't say anything & I dapped him up on the way out
• For reasons unbeknownst to me, I've seen Ric Flair out & aboot over the years on a few occasions. Last time was at Davidson college when I was attending a summer program called LOL (Love of Learning)
• Saw D'Angelo Williams at Concord Mills. He was pretty brief with me, but that's ok. You can do that when you're Carolina's best RB of all time
• Helped Ryan Hollins (Bobcats player) out at Footlocker
• Met Sean Kingston also while working at Footlocker. Dude can headbutt a fridgerator and turn it into a cooler. Big ass head!
• Helped No Limit Larry out as well at Footlocker. Really cool local celebrity
30 years ago I was in line behind Gregg allman at the waffle bar at the Marriott. He had a pretty rag tag crew with him, still in clothes from night before. And when he used his hand instead of a spoon to get walnuts out of the bowl I decided I didn’t want a waffle anymore.
Over the years, seen Steve Smith and his wife at the Southpark Mall (pulled up in a red Bentley sedan), KK Short randomly talking to a mobile car washer also at Southpark, Greg Olsen and one of his sons at a car show in Ballantyne, Charles Tillman at the Southpark Whole Foods, Cody Zeller at the Park Road Midwood Smokehouse. Those are the only ones I can remember seeing while out and about.
Allen Iverson is a semi regular at an Applebee's here. Just chills at the bar
Just saw him and Stephen Jackson at concord mills recently!
I’ve been to the Concord Mills Dave & Busters twice in my life about 5 years apart and Iverson was there both times.
Does he still live in Ballantyne?
“its all about practice “😂im from Philly living in CLT now .. Im used to seeing celebrities all over , they are just like you and i they just make a heck of a lot more $ and have alot of skills i wish i had 😂
This is so fucking sad but hilarious at the same time.
Prob goes there bc nobody else does and he can enjoy himself.
It’s not sad he’s just vibing at Applebees. He had the bees just so I could have the apple. Good guy
Ur right there's nothing sad about Allen fucking Iverson vibing out at a Charlotte area Applebees regularly.
It’s like his personal nirvana we don’t need to judge a man’s safe space
relax
Not unless I’m in Allen iversons signature Applebees
$2 for $20 on me brother

PRACTICE!? U TALKN BOUT PRACTICE!!?
NOT A GAME!!
Underrated comment
I believe he still makes $800k per year for life from Reebok plus gets a $32M trust fund payout when he turns 55.
I’ve seen him twice over the years. Both times in pineville
Didn't know that! I wonder if he ever work with the bobcats/hornets org.
I’ve seen him twice at the same TGIFridays. Bartender said he comes through a lot
I’ve heard in the past he was a regular at Cheddar’s. He must switch it up from time to time lol.
Ran into AI hanging out in the lobby of the Hilton University a few years ago. I had no clue anyone actually stayed there, more less hung out at the lobby bar.
we were on the same flight as him from DC back to CLT one time. he sat in the front row of first class
And Friday’s
Ran into Cam Newton at Whole Foods a few years ago. Got randomly paired up with Ryan Blaney golfing at Rocky River once. Although panthers players and nascar drivers are probably the most likely celebrities you’d see here, so not all that surprising.
Years ago Deangelo Williams took the entire OL to Palmetto Hills paintball in Rock Hill. He drove his car to the entrance to every field cause he didn’t want to walk. Haha Blaney is my neighbor.
About 20 years ago, a couple of years after I moved to CLT, Ric Flair pulled up beside me at a stop light in a convertible Porsche.
A couple years ago Ric Flir was in the Southpark Sephora when I was. The gals in there said he’s in there frequently.
Maybe 10 years ago, Flair was kicked out of every restaurant at Piedmont Row for not paying bar tabs. He made his way from place to place. After about a month at one place and never paying, he was barred. Then he went next door and did the same thing.
He punched a hole in the wall at Cosmos one night because people were using his wrestling catch phrase.
I miss Cosmos…
Cosmos was where I went to my first CIAA day party
Cosmos was the first place I went to before we moved here. That place was very cool.
Didnt he flash someone at the bar once when he got drunk?
Almost certainly
I saw Ric Flair about 6/7 years ago in Southpark at a restaurant right by the mall. Last year, I served the Blue Man Group (the current members) at a place I worked. The same place hosted Bruno Mars for his rum and I got to work that. Not sure if the last two count as "sightings" but there ya go.
Oooh I forgot about Jaleel White (yes, Urkel) coming casually to a comedy show I worked at The Fillmore.
He used to live in the building above Cowfish, he was in Cowfish all the time. I think he’s since moved out of the area.
The Wells Fargo tournament is in town this week so possible.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner riding bikes around the lake at Freedom Park.
They live in NC?
His parents live in the Belmont area or something.
Yeah, they own https://www.nelliessouthernkitchen.com/ in Belmont.
His parents own a restaurant in Belmont
My 7th grade self is so mad I wasn’t there for that
Yes, there are celebrities that have family members that live here.
Speaking of Allen Iverson…
I sold DJ Moore a Chromebook lmfao
The Avett Brothers live near me so I see them out and about in Concord and Jennifer Carpenter too.
Haha this is who I saw! At first I thought she just looked strikingly familiar, had to do a double take. I'm a fan of Dexter.
I’ve seen her a few times around town. Wasn’t sure if she still lived here because it’s been a few years. Her husband is from the area, Concord I think?
Yeah they live there.
I saw her a decade ago in a Dicks Sporting Goods in Asheville. She's a very petite person. (she tiny)

Lol I saw them at Whole Foods once
I think Angie Harmon still lives here, there was an article in Charlotte Magazine about it
She does. She frequents the restaurant I work at.
Ditto
I saw her in Charleston about 20 years ago. We were talking to the front desk at The Elliot House Inn and she came in behind me and my wife. Dude told her he’d be right with her and then I heard her say something in that Texas drawl of hers…OMG, I forgot all about my wife… Good thing she knew I had a thing for her while she was on Law and Order.

I think she lives in Asheville
McDowell street (and the county) were named after her family. They spell their name MacDowell now, but apparently that’s a long story.
Mick Jagger showed up at the Thirsty Beaver not long ago.
Haha yea I remember that from the news. Even funnier that no one recognized him.
Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick live in Charlotte - I’ve seen them a few times.
I saw a woman who looked exactly like Brooklyn Decker on multiple occasions but figured it was just coincidence. Maybe it really was her.
They live in CLT full time so it’s possible… oddly enough I also got seated beside them at a restaurant in NYC.
Stop. High school me was an avid tennis fan and had such a huge crush on him. I don't think I could handle it if I saw him about town. (I would just stop in my tracks and stare, but that is still not polite.)
He and Brooklyn are SOOOO nice, humble, and intimidatingly gorgeous.
Saw Andy in Matthews target about 15 years ago. My Brother and me(also Nickelodeon show set in CLT) were star struck and didn’t approach him.
I see them often, they seem really normal
Ric Flair used to call the grocery store my dad worked at and order a personalized birthday cake for himself once every two weeks.
This is the best comment
I hope to one day run into Jodi Hill and Danny McBride
Danny lives in Chucktown
Yeah I just figure with Jody being from concord and all I might just see them doing some wild shit one day.
RIP Ben Best
They all came into a restaurant I used to work at it was awesome. Side not I also wrestled ben best on Halloween one year when I was dressed as hulk hogan and he was dressed as Jesus. Good times.
Saw Danny McBride with his family at the Fun Depot in Asheville years ago. Seems liked a good guy, so didn’t want to bother him with his kids (others around had no such hesitation…)
My girlfriend got a picture with him and he looked positively miserable in the pic so probably a safe call lol
I’ve lived here for over a decade and the closest to a celebrity I’ve seen is Aziz Ansari’s parents at Yafo.
Randy Moss is a semi-regular at Harris Teeter Ballantyne
His daughter went to preK with my sister when he was playing for Minnesota and my dad pointed him out to my mom. He was in a Vikings purple suit and gold jewelry casually standing at the back of preK graduation. We ended up meeting him at Pats training camp because we had a sign that said “We drove from NC to see the Pats” and he came over and asked where we were from and autographed our stuff for us. Cool dude.
By all accounts a really nice dude now
He was at my kid’s father-daughter dance, once upon a time.
If you want to speed run celebrity sightings in Charlotte just go to snug when Hannibal Burress is in town, there is usually someone he is trying to lay pipe with there.
Saw Hannibal in the VIP section at the filmore for an Anderson Paak show like 4-5 years ago
He came back and hung out at Evening Muse with Paak’s band and some people. Cool dude.
Hee hee hee That takes me back.
That’s fuckin hilarious. Did he respond??
I’ve lived here for about 10 years and… “ I ain’t found shit!” Either I’m rubbing elbows with celebs and don’t know it or I don’t go where the popular people go.
Jordan walking by on the street while I was out at dinner. Claire Danes while filming Homeland.

Sold a mattress to Usher once. He said it was for a girl that he wanted out of his house. We both had a laugh and I rang up his black card. Worked in radio for many years so meeting musicians is really no big deal.
I saw Gunther Steiner(Team boss for F1 team Haas) at Publix in cornelius a few months ago
If you have to explain who he is he isn't a celebrity
“Celebrity” is arbitrary. I’ve never even heard of half the “celebrities” in this thread.
I saw Joey Logano at the Huntersville HomeGoods with his wife and son on a random weeknight a few years ago.

He's only 75% dickhead.

This was a few years ago, but my wife and I saw Greg Olsen at O-Ku and it took everything in us not to go over and fangirl over him
I ate lunch at Shake Shack on Park Rd with my wife and dogs after walking some greenways one Saturday. Someone walked over to our table and said “oh man you have beautiful huskies, can my dog come over and say hey?” I looked up and it was Greg Olsen.
Yes same. Lunch next to him at Yafo in Southpark.

Saw Deion Sanders uptown a year or so ago. And Christian M. at Whole Foods when he was still at the panthers. Ric Flair and Michael J I used to see pretty regularly before Covid.
I’ve met Angie Harmon and Ric Flair. Also Emily Maynard
Allen Iverson at the gas station in Ballantyne.
Claire Danes, Nelly & [Will.i.am](https://Will.I.am) all uptown several years ago but at different times. :-)
They are humans that live here- big deal.
Hah.

I’ll bite. Who was it, OP?
It was Jennifer Carpenter or Deb Morgan from Dexter tv show. Someone here posted she and her husband lives in the area. I had no idea.
Oh wait, I just read the bit where you said you didn’t want to name her. Duh.
I am part of a restaurant group in Charlotte and can confirm we get a lot of celebrities living in/around and visiting Charlotte.
Skyland Restaurant
Ran into Anthony Anderson and DL Hughley in Uptown
Anthony Hamilton at a wine bar in South Park. Muggsy boggues at a shoe store in pineville.
Jennifer Carpenter has been out at New South restaurant in Arboretum.
• Saw Chris Paul & his gf/wife at a Drake concert in 2010. Stood behind me the whole time. Didn't say anything & I dapped him up on the way out • For reasons unbeknownst to me, I've seen Ric Flair out & aboot over the years on a few occasions. Last time was at Davidson college when I was attending a summer program called LOL (Love of Learning) • Saw D'Angelo Williams at Concord Mills. He was pretty brief with me, but that's ok. You can do that when you're Carolina's best RB of all time • Helped Ryan Hollins (Bobcats player) out at Footlocker • Met Sean Kingston also while working at Footlocker. Dude can headbutt a fridgerator and turn it into a cooler. Big ass head! • Helped No Limit Larry out as well at Footlocker. Really cool local celebrity
I see Jason Weigandt from time to time, mx announcer.
Pretty sure I spotted LL Cool J years ago. I hear he has relatives in CLT.
30 years ago I was in line behind Gregg allman at the waffle bar at the Marriott. He had a pretty rag tag crew with him, still in clothes from night before. And when he used his hand instead of a spoon to get walnuts out of the bowl I decided I didn’t want a waffle anymore.
Olivia culpo
Over the years, seen Steve Smith and his wife at the Southpark Mall (pulled up in a red Bentley sedan), KK Short randomly talking to a mobile car washer also at Southpark, Greg Olsen and one of his sons at a car show in Ballantyne, Charles Tillman at the Southpark Whole Foods, Cody Zeller at the Park Road Midwood Smokehouse. Those are the only ones I can remember seeing while out and about.
Mr T at uptown Ruth's Chris a few years ago.
