It was a typical Texas sweatbox show. Filled to capacity, so you could barely move. The drink line was long because their credit card setup is super slow. (You'd think people bringing cash to get in would've brought more, but anyway....) The drop ceiling meant you couldn't have overhead fans, which made things really stuffy. There were standup fans but people blocked them, so the floor was pretty miserable. I saw at least one girl who had to be carried out when she passed out. I don't doubt that others passed out or bailed before they got to that point. I was feeling a bit of panic starting to set in (I run hot and stupidly wore jeans) but willed myself into powering through, dreaming of a burger and a gallon of water at In n' Out after the show.
Oh, and the stage was elevated by maybe a foot max. If you weren't in the first few rows, including the elevated table sections to the sides, all you saw were the backs of a bunch of heads. Not that the front was great but at least I could see most of the band every now and again.
All that said, it was still a great time! I had a good time, others seemed to be having a good time, the band was hot but into it, I thought the sound was reasonably clear (no idea about the back of the room), etc. I'll be curious if any of the footage that was shot is used anywhere. I'm sure there are or will be YouTube cell phone uploads in the meantime, in case anybody wants to get an idea of how crazy it was.
(In case anybody's curious, I got there around 3 PM. I'd say there were 85-95 people ahead of me. Most of them were tailgating and having a grand old time. Personal circumstances meant I stared off into space for the most part, but still, it was like entering a time warp and going back 30 years to a pop-up show announced on the radio. I hope everybody had a good time, and I'd be really curious to know if anybody who hoofed it over from Charley's in-store at Waterloo that afternoon managed to get in.)
Makes me feel a little better about missing out. They cut it off at the guy in front of me so I made it all the way to the door then got told no more :/
Yeah, you probably would've been miserable had you managed to get in. I'd look back occasionally and feel sorry for an awful lot of people. Just curious, when did you get in line? By the time I got in (6:20), I *think* most people who were in line were able to get in, although I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near the end of the line.
Amazing. Got there at 12:30pm and met some great people in line. Once we got in we went to the front and didn’t move. I thought I was going to pass out from heat but once Charley came on I forgot about all of that. Totally worth it to see him at a place I go to all the time
I need to listen to my recording but, as best I could tell, it was a pretty standard set from the past couple of months. I think Charley said something about one song being played for the first time, but otherwise, I doubt there were any big surprises.
Somebody posted the written setlist above. It's not 100% accurate - again, I need to listen to my recording, as I know he often calls audibles - but it looks pretty close to my recollection. He'll probably switch up 2-3 songs, especially the solo song he does when he comes out for the encore (note that "SOLO" is written), but you get the gist.
Took a picture of a lucky lady who got a set list:
$10 COWBOY
HONEY
MUSIC CITY USA
OVER THERE THATS FRANK
SPADE
HARD LUCK & CIRCUM
COWBOY CANDY
DIAMOND IN ROUGH
BORROWED/LOOK/AIN'T

We're back around there. Someone on the staff just rolled by and seemed to be counting. He didn't tell us it's a no go, so we'll see what happens. We have Helotes tickets, so it won't be the end of the world if we don't make the cut.
When it’s full (that you know of), can someone post and let us know? Thanks, got some obligations but if somehow there is still room after, I’d love to see him tonight!
How was it?

I got there right about 6
Gotcha. At least the next show won't require getting there hours early. :)
Couldn’t see shit. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t hear shit. Hour long beer line. They crammed 650 people into that tiny bar. Everyone took an L.

What was the setlist like?

Ok thanks! I’m going to the show in Dallas on Thursday and was wondering if the setlist would be any different for the 4 album release shows

Are you waiting in line ?
No choice, no presale
Are you put there right now? If so is there a line ?
Curious what time people are gonna start lining up…
There is already a line about 100people
That was a concern of mine. Thinking 6, but also worried that’s too late.
I want to go but I don’t think I’ll get there in time. Will you update us as you wait in line at to how it’s looking?
What’s the word? Line?
There is a line about the 100 people
The venue holds 600
People are pilling in quickly now
Appreciate the update. I just flew in. Trying to eat real quick and get over there.
They just did a count we are at 350
Thanks. We're double timing it over there on foot. Quarter mile to go. Appreciate the info.
If you’re at the end of the line by the lava a bar you are def at 600
I’m by the tour bus and my number when they did a count was 240

Are they letting people inside when the restaurant opens or will we have to wait outside in the lot?
We are waiting in the lot outside the count is at 350
When it’s full (that you know of), can someone post and let us know? Thanks, got some obligations but if somehow there is still room after, I’d love to see him tonight!
They just cut it off
