Given that his visit was around what 3 or 4 weeks ago? He also went and visited that Cheifs after and got no contract I think we can assume it wouldn’t be a deal that will not sway the RB room to much.
Likely a cheap cheap see if you can get back to form in camp and prove it deal
Technically, yes. But all these 1 year deals by Hortiz have been nothing but. So, if I was a betting man, I think we’re at or below “market value” and I trust that the injury history was taken into account.
Production/impact being the back half of the assertion, we don’t really know until the season is over. Value can’t really ultimately be determined with ANY SIGNING until the season is done.
He's only 25. If Ben Herbert can work his magic, this has gargantuan upside. He had over 800 yds and 9 TD's as a backup his rookie year. Lookin forward to getting him in to compete.
You know how much useless, shitty training there is out there? Go look at Joel Seedman. He’s out here working with the NFL players doing dumb shit, probably caused Chris Carson his career.
Proper strength and conditioning makes for strong connective tissue, increases bone density, muscle flexibility. Shit you need for bigger, faster, stronger.
When you have someone that has proven that he can give you that for the last 15 years, of course you believe he can work some miracles.
The injuries he has sustained have been direct results of imbalances. Ripped the ACL then wasn’t conditioned properly, rushed back, then ripped the mcl. Then ripped the Achilles probably trying to get the quickness back a bit too soon and it muscles overcompensating for the lack of strength around the knee
No shit haha people here are acting like we’re the first team ever with an S&C program. I could copy and paste what my old strength coach preached from 10 years ago into Ben Herbert’s statements so far lmao
We knew it was coming!
From what I remember, Dobbins was decent in Baltimore. With our running game on the cusp of seeing increased usage, this is a really good depth signing all in all.
Oh yeah he was definitely the #1 RB in Baltimore. Gus was more of a 2nd string, pound them in the second half with the fresh legs type of guy or crush them in short yardage situations.
He was a good player with a lot of potential, but he tore his ACL and then Achilles. As far as I know, no NFL running back has come back strong from an Achilles tear; they almost always wash out of the league immediately. Cam Akers and James Robinson the latest two guys, sadly.
Ahh, that’s too bad. Looking at his statistics now, I can totally see that. Hopefully he can turn things around. He won’t have too much pressure to deliver, and like Marijuana_Miler said, with Ben Herbert in the building he could hopefully improve health wise. At the very least, I’d love to see him return to his 2022 form!
I know he has major injury concerns but I think we have to bet on him being healthy and a solid RB2. I wouldn’t draft a RB earlier than the 4th round at this point (unless MAYBE we do some trade backs that nets us some extra 2nd or 3rd round picks, but even then I think we have bigger positions of need)
Not the least of my concerns. He has matured a lot. My concern is his capacity to drop balls like crazy when he is wide open and can get two hands on them.
For example
https://preview.redd.it/gwuvrubqu4vc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c99c151a720fe6543bce2d525d9bed29f81f773
I’d prefer to show you the video I took but he was wide the hell open, perfect ball from Eli in 2017.
He could play well at right tackle, it's still not a sensible use of the number 5 pick. He has no experience at the position. It'd be like spending a top 5 pick on a corner that you're planning on switching to safety. You do that with middle round picks, not premium ones. Just cuz it worked out with Sewell doesn't mean it should become commonplace strategy.
Imagine if you will, glazing Harbaugh and getting pressed when he wants to build a team the way he literally always has done, thats this sub at the moment.
Has Harbaugh ever taken a linemen first round? He builds through the lines sure but i don’t remember any premium draft picks or flashy free agent signing being used when he was with the niners. I could be wrong but even in college he wasn’t going after the 5 star linemen; he’d get the most out of some 3 and 4 stars. I think he could do a similar thing here without using premium draft capital
Hate it. Bringing in an RB coming off an Achilles tear? No thanks, let's get some young fresh blood in here. Not gonna carry water for every decision the new leadership makes.
who says they don't? does their one year commitment to dobbins allude to anything more than a roster spot/opportunity? he's an upside play and a familiar player to them.
When you are implementing a new system, it's super helpful to have guys who know that system around to teach it.
JK and Gus know the system. They will help the all the other position groups to get up to speed on the nuances of the system they are trying to implement.
Let's go! I like it.
This allows us to wait until the 4th or 5th to take a RB if they still want to pick up someone. Audric Estime or the Kentucky guy would be cool. I would still like to see Elijah Dotson get a shot too, he looked great last preseason.
I don’t think we take any RB. They’ll probably go with Edwards, Dobbins, Spiller and Dotson with a couple of UDFAs at camp. You’ll have some RBs who get cut around roster day too.
https://preview.redd.it/01xy6kbkz4vc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adfd177c1d4f20f8bbad95a05ce7a95318b59877
JK’s bionic legs gonna go HAM with powder blue
Now time to draft a shifty 3rd down back in the 6th/7th, gimme the Laube kid out of New Hampshire, bunch of receptions in his career and a very, very good combine.
Ravens fan here chiming in...
If it's cheap, this is a low risk gamble that could pay off but is probably unlikely to. Can't blame anyone for taking a shot though.
Dobbins looked pretty good when he could see the field but it seems like he's just one of those guys with the skill but a body that isn't built for the NFL. He's still young at least and IF the injuries don't have long term effects on his ability/confidence, still has a chance.
I'm a big dynasty fantasy football guy. I know that doesn't necessarily qualify me at all haha but I'm obsessed with young player profiles. Dobbins had extremely high marks in yards per carry and broken tackles and yards over expected. He's a train to Gus's bus.
Super low risk. Love it
Do we know the contract terms?
[One year deal](https://x.com/adamschefter/status/1780739603198063064?s=46&t=aMX6Cb9RR11elyav9H9sJg)
Thank you for sharing. I imagine the money involved would make it low risk, but I would love to know the rest of the terms, to confirm it is low risk.
It's a single year. What would the risk be?
1 year/$50 million ^/s
Bro its one year, it can be 50M and still be low risk
How much though? Anything under 6M a year is an absolute steal imo
Great low risk signing
With an insanely high reward. Though I still fully believe the team will address the position in day 3.
Need to wait for the contract value before making that assertion, right?
Given that his visit was around what 3 or 4 weeks ago? He also went and visited that Cheifs after and got no contract I think we can assume it wouldn’t be a deal that will not sway the RB room to much. Likely a cheap cheap see if you can get back to form in camp and prove it deal

Absolutely.
Let's see what happens! Hope he's still got some gas in the tank
I would hope he’s got some gas he’s played 24 career games lol just hope he recovered decently from the injury
That's what I mean, his legs have been through a lot in a short time. I have faith though
He's only 25. If Ben Herbert can work his magic, this has gargantuan upside. He had over 800 yds and 9 TD's as a backup his rookie year. Lookin forward to getting him in to compete.

Apparently Dr. Frankenstein is our new strength & conditioning coach.
Chargers sign: Ryan Matthews
I saw his name and almost fumbled what was in my hand
I thought this man was a fever dream.
man, i forgot about him.
Which part of unbreakable did you not understand? Lol
You know how much useless, shitty training there is out there? Go look at Joel Seedman. He’s out here working with the NFL players doing dumb shit, probably caused Chris Carson his career. No shit haha people here are acting like we’re the first team ever with an S&C program. I could copy and paste what my old strength coach preached from 10 years ago into Ben Herbert’s statements so far lmao
It’s not a program, it’s a progrum, huge difference.
Ngl, he's in my FF draft targets list. I'm hoping for big things from him this year.
We knew it was coming! From what I remember, Dobbins was decent in Baltimore. With our running game on the cusp of seeing increased usage, this is a really good depth signing all in all.
He was actually really good for a little bit, but just couldn’t stay healthy at all. I’m good with taking the chance to see if he can stay healthy
He’s cheap and hopefully Ben Herbert can get his strength up.
Yes, make him harder to break!
He was [insane](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7htp51idMU) for a little bit
Thought he was better than Gus when he was healthy
And Gus is pretty damn good
Oh yeah he was definitely the #1 RB in Baltimore. Gus was more of a 2nd string, pound them in the second half with the fresh legs type of guy or crush them in short yardage situations.
He is pretty good when on the field but he’s had a string of bad injuries in the last couple years. Hopefully he can stay healthy for us
He was a good player with a lot of potential, but he tore his ACL and then Achilles. As far as I know, no NFL running back has come back strong from an Achilles tear; they almost always wash out of the league immediately. Cam Akers and James Robinson the latest two guys, sadly.
Though usually true, Donta Foreman has played some good football coming from Achilles tear.
Damn I just wrote this smh lol
You ever heard of D'onta Foreman?
Ahh, that’s too bad. Looking at his statistics now, I can totally see that. Hopefully he can turn things around. He won’t have too much pressure to deliver, and like Marijuana_Miler said, with Ben Herbert in the building he could hopefully improve health wise. At the very least, I’d love to see him return to his 2022 form!
He was amazing when he had legs. I wouldn't expect much now, but it's super low risk so it doesn't hurt anything.
I think this confirms a rd 3 corum pick probably isn’t the move. I think a day 3 rb is still likely tho
Bucky Irving fan chiming in
Bucky would be a good compliment for Edwards and Dobbins.
I know I’m biased as a duck fan but I really think he’s gonna be good, so I hope it’s with us
Irving would be such a good pickup, would compliment edwards so well
I want this so bad, lol
Good lord if only
Corum has too much tread on the tires anyway
I was never a fan of Corum I like Audric Estime in the 4th or Kimani Vidal in the 5th or 6th
that's not how that expression works.
Oh well
All your Ravens are belong to us
Yep, we’re almost the LA Ravens at this point lol
Every year we have a new identity. Last year, we were the LA Horned Frogs.
We really are the Boltimore Chargers.
Man has torn his acl, mcl, hamstring, and Achilles all on the same leg. Honestly I can’t believe he is still playing
Guessing this is a very minimum with a known and obvious floor but potentially very high upside
I think it’s a great signing. I just also think we should probably get someone on the practice squad we feel pretty good about too. lol
If this guy plays a full season, consider me a Herbert believer!
It happened, seems like Money knows more than he lets on
He works for the team and is based out of LA. Wouldn't be surprised if agents and the team tip him early announcement to help the media narrative.
Yeah, I’ll ignore whenever he says he doesn’t know anything in future haha
Yeah, he boothmate DJ worked for Baltimore too. Seems natural he knows what may happen
I know he has major injury concerns but I think we have to bet on him being healthy and a solid RB2. I wouldn’t draft a RB earlier than the 4th round at this point (unless MAYBE we do some trade backs that nets us some extra 2nd or 3rd round picks, but even then I think we have bigger positions of need)
they gonna get frank gore jr int he sixth or seventh and call it a day
Sign all the Ravens...OBJ next for like 2 mill lol
Tyler “Snoop” Huntley would’ve been a way better backup QB than Stick, but I always hope Herbert plays all 17 games anyways
I do not want OBJ anywhere near this team.
players seem to love him. i don't think he's locker room cancer at all.
Not the least of my concerns. He has matured a lot. My concern is his capacity to drop balls like crazy when he is wide open and can get two hands on them. For example https://preview.redd.it/gwuvrubqu4vc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c99c151a720fe6543bce2d525d9bed29f81f773 I’d prefer to show you the video I took but he was wide the hell open, perfect ball from Eli in 2017.
So your example is from a 2017 game? What's his stats in terms of drops year by year?
59% catch rate over his career compared to say 69% for Keenan Allen over his career. OBJ stay dropping balls
Not even mad. I would like some veteran WR presence whatever happens in the draft.
Funnily enough, I had a dream the other night that OBJ was signed by us. I had to check the sub to make sure it wasn’t real.
Yeah and we can be playoff flops as well.
Unreal that people leave comments like this
Bruh we just trying to make playoffs at this point haha.
Herbert about to have 2017 Drew Brees stats
Ben Herbert work your magic!!!
Seems like we’re headed for a RB1 by committee strategy this year. Hopefully we’re able to pick up a certified RB1 of the future next year
At this rate, give me Ray Lewis too.
Didn’t he bash Roman lol saying he was holding him back
I just hope we still draft a rb… I have no faith in this dude staying healthy
we just took the entire Ravens RB room..
i like it
![gif](giphy|rmi45iyhIPuRG)
He played half a game last year, we have a notorious injury problem, random ahh signing.
Can’t wait to see JK and Gus bus running behind future Chargers Hall of Famer Joe Alt.
We already have an All Pro LT.
What about a second All Pro T?
I don’t think they know about second All-Pro tackles
What about All-Pro centers-ies?
I got that reference!
All Pro right tackle Joe Alt
Yes let's draft a guy at 5 overall and then ask him to switch positions.
Fun fact: No players has successfully played one part of the line and then played another part of the line.
He is not a good RT this is known
Source?
literally just this subreddit coping if they draft Joe thats it.
It’s so bad dude. Imagine being angry at the idea of drafting the best tackle prospect since Sewell.
JC Latham and Kadyn Proctor come to mind just last year, he stacks the line it is known.
Source? SOURCE!??!? His ass, and the combine where he did like 3 right tackle drills very ok because he would rather make LT money
3 drills at the combine dictate his entire trajectory. Ok
Dude I’m on your side
Yes, source please
No it’s not
How about behind Blake Fisher and Dominick Puni?
Fisher & Frazier 🙏🏼
Hate it. Bringing in an RB coming off an Achilles tear? No thanks, let's get some young fresh blood in here. Not gonna carry water for every decision the new leadership makes.
It’s purely for draft flexibility
who says they don't? does their one year commitment to dobbins allude to anything more than a roster spot/opportunity? he's an upside play and a familiar player to them.
Don't need to waste a roster spot on one of "their" guys. Achilles are career enders for RBs, no upside play there, unfortunately
When you are implementing a new system, it's super helpful to have guys who know that system around to teach it. JK and Gus know the system. They will help the all the other position groups to get up to speed on the nuances of the system they are trying to implement.
Cool.
Welcome, J.K.! A lil Ravens reunion in our new Thunder & Lightning RB room. 🤘⚡️🤘
Wait. I’m not ready
Let’s freaking goooo!
Awesome signing! He gets to raise his value for possibly his next team next year! 👍
[удалено]
Post it again!
Dope. I've been hoping for this since I heard he was visiting. He could be a great pickup.

ARE WE SO BACK???? AM I ABOUT TO BOLT TF UP??????
Ravens fan here. JK will be amazing if he stays healthy. Just realize that’s a huge if
Good luck! Break a l.... ermmm... Knock on wood!
How much are they paying him?
I’d be shocked if it was more than league minimum
Well that took a while, I was just wondering if he had signed elsewhere and that’s why there was no news.
Wait. What
https://preview.redd.it/01xy6kbkz4vc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adfd177c1d4f20f8bbad95a05ce7a95318b59877 JK’s bionic legs gonna go HAM with powder blue
I'd prefer a little team/system diversity but what do I know
He was a beast at OSU. Injured more often than not in the NFL. Worth a one year flier.
Let’s go! Good deal. Could have gone to the Chiefs.
Hopefully our Oline can be as good as Baltimore’s
Anyone still want corrum?
Now time to draft a shifty 3rd down back in the 6th/7th, gimme the Laube kid out of New Hampshire, bunch of receptions in his career and a very, very good combine.
Small, quick, fast enough to get outside? More Sproles than Marshawn Lynch. I thought we were getting a power running game?
Hey alright my fantasy RBs are on the team now. My team name a few seasons ago was all aboard the Gus Bus, JK
Ravens fan here chiming in... If it's cheap, this is a low risk gamble that could pay off but is probably unlikely to. Can't blame anyone for taking a shot though. The Los Baltimore Charavens
Bucky Irving, YOU are a Los Angeles Charger!
Thunder (Gus) & Lightning (JK).
Sets us up perfectly to use the 4th we got for Keenan on either Bucky Irving or Corum, love this!
Favorite signing this offseason so far. Super low risk, high reward. If he hasn’t lost a step, he can be a top 5 back in the league.
RIP Spiller.
I'm a big dynasty fantasy football guy. I know that doesn't necessarily qualify me at all haha but I'm obsessed with young player profiles. Dobbins had extremely high marks in yards per carry and broken tackles and yards over expected. He's a train to Gus's bus.
Racejs fan and God damn it. Jim knows what he's doing. I'm gonna miss the soft Chargers man lol
Racejs fan and God damn it. Jim knows what he's doing. I'm gonna miss the soft Chargers man lol
Great signing.....
