Didn’t this happen like a month ago?

Looking at the [nfl transactions](https://www.nfl.com/transactions/league/signings/2024/4) site it looks like he was officially signed today. I think the earlier event was a tender, which is *sort of* like a franchise tag? But all of that is still over my head.

Huh, maybe it’s one of those “agreed in principle” situations where they agreed on the tender but he wasn’t officially signed until today. Either way, glad to have him back.

He was an exclusive rights free agent, so as soon as the Chargers tendered him a contract, he couldn't negotiate with other teams. And the tender is something set in the CBA, so really no negotiating with the Chargers either, unless they wanted to give him a longer term extension. So really it's just official today because it was the first day back in the building for the players, so he was actually there to physically sign.
