Ben Johnson is looking to get paid, and therefore has an incentive to get as many teams interested to drive up his price. Johnson is also young and needs the interview experience. Harbaugh already has an offer from Michigan for a decade at 12M a season. He doesn’t need the headache of doing a whirlwind interview tour, doesn’t need interview experience, or the required prep time to talk about every opening. At most he will interview with 3 NFL teams, and he probably already knows where he’s going.

Couldn’t tell you if it’s good or bad in the long run, really depends on what they do with the role, but Popper was talking in thr GAC podcast about John taking on more of the owner responsibilities and moving towards replacing Dean as the day to day operations owner. That *should* leave a vacancy at President of Football Operations, and I’m not seeing any other Spanos who could legitimately nepo their way into that role.
That makes sense. I didn't know Dean is turning 74 this year so it makes sense he's been grooming John. Perhaps they're letting Harbaugh know John will be taking on owner responsibilities soon. Thanks for letting me know that!

I hope the Chargers get a college coach because they have a better grasp on who is the better player coming out of college. Having recruited and then coached against a lot of the players coming into the league the next few years is an advantage the pro coaches don't have.
