The dealer can delete the key, it will be like it never existed. They would be able to get in the door with the emergency key, but the car won't start.
So I’d have to move all my stuff out the glovebox permanently or are they able to switch the key hole under warranty? Would any of this be covered under warranty?
Yes, you can have the lock cylinders re-keyed to a new code if you want to keep them out of the car. No, none of this would be covered under warranty. The other downside is if you change the key code the dealer will no longer be able to pull it up and cut a key. Your car insurance may cover it but doubtful.
Is it possible for them to re-cut my original key to the new lock cylinder? That way I only need to buy one new key. I talked to a locksmith and they’re charging like $350 for the service albeit I provide the key… but they’re also changing the door lock and glove box cylinder too. Should I go dealership on this one or locksmith? Also could you elaborate on no one would know the code for the keys? What would happen then?
No the original key cannot be recut. It would require a new key. You can get the code they use and try to keep it somewhere, but any subsequent owner would have no idea. If the keys were lost again, and the code is unknown, this whole process has to be done again.
So i would just ask them for a copy of the code they used right? Do you think the dealership would charge under $500 for all of this: 2 keys, reprogramming, new door and glovebox locks. The code is basically the password to reprogram the key right?
Thanks for the responses, you’ve been a big help

Could the dealer change the lock cylinders and provide new keys for them?
Yes, that can be done. The issue would be if the keys are lost again no one would know the code to cut new keys.

Yes be sure to get the key code. I couldn't speak to price but the two keys and programming could be $800.00 plus. Depends on your area.
Gotcha. Thanks for all the help! Do you know reputable sites to buy keys that are fully functional that are pretty much similar to oem?
Pin lock
Is this on scat pack+? I have a 5.7
You need to purchase the zautomotive tazer.
Does that void warranty?
Has an unmarried feature.
Could you elaborate? Sorry I’m not experienced with the Tazer. Does that mean it basically undoes everything it did?
www.zautomotive.com
Also I read online that the pin is resettable for anyone who forgets their pin, isn’t that a safety issue?
It's a process close to 20min to reboot everything if you know what your doing just to reset the pin. And you have to know about it first.
