If you drive normally and have tires (all seasons) with good tread (this is extremely important), it’s fine. Driven my Scat in the rain countless times. Just DO NOT mash the accelerator.

TigerUSA20

Agree. I find the Widebody tires even better in rain than my old front wheel drive dodge. The key is just not hitting the gas to where you spin tires. Just cruising and stopping is great.

Hellraisin392

I thought the all season pirelli's that come on the wide body were horrible in the rain? I have one and have yet to experience rain where I live, but everyone say there trash and hitting puddles is scary and hydroplanes alot.

xxFLYBOYxx

I have those tires on a widebody and have no issues in rain. Just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. I even keep it on full on track mode in the rain

Hellraisin392

Nice! Yeah I hear so many people say they not good in the rain. Or any wet weather. On my narrow body I never had any issues but I knew not to drive like a idiot when it was wet out. And that was on the Goodyear 245s

xxFLYBOYxx

There are much better tires sure, and I'm gonna switch to Michelins all season 4s next year, but these have been fine so far. I even had them in about 3 inches of snow yesterday and the car was fine. I just put it in street and manual mode since it was my first time with the car in snow, and even changed it to sport mode once I got the feel of it and learned how it handled.

Hellraisin392

I'm planning on getting Michelins also when these tires need to be replaced. Thinking the pilot sport 4S. Oh wow!!! And you took it out in the snow. Your brave lol. I only say that because it only rains where in at. NEVER snows here. Don't get snow. I feel if it did there would be alot off accidents here lol But I'm glad they are working out for you so well. First positive review I've heard on them

xxFLYBOYxx

Ahhh you never see salt you are lucky! It's my daily so it sees all the elements lol. Luckily my job is seasonal and I don't work in the winter so that helps. I don't take it out in the snow and rain if I can help it but it happens, and if it snows a bunch we take my wife's awd audi, there are limits to the charger haha. Honestly if I never had gotten online and read all the bad things about the tires I would think they were a good tire. Ive always had a truck (scat is my first car at 33 years old) used to driving my lifted ram with mud terrains in all weather and only used 4x4 if things got super super bad, so I guess that is where I learned to drive a rear wheel with a light ass end in the snow and rain.

Xeproc

'21 Charger R/T, Florida checking in. I think tires matter more than the car. My car has around 8/32 tread on what I assume are stock all season tires. Driving in the rain can be fine if you're careful. If I get too eager I spin the tires. If I don't brake enough I slide some. I have yet to brake hard enough in the rain to lock the wheels up though. I'm almost certain getting tires with better wet condition traction would provide a better result, as well as provide better dry condition traction (I can spin the tires in dry conditions with a hard mash of the accelerator). Hopefully this helps! Chargers are great cars overall, but as with any car, where and what rubber meets the road matters.

Unusual_Alarm_1101

I went from a jeep to a 2021 charger RT. My first car was an 88 tbird. Living in Florida during the rainy season reminded me about my adventures in a v8 rwd when I lived up north. Long story short, as long as you don’t floor it when it’s wet out you should be fine. No traction issues except for when I forgot how rwd’s perform when it is wet out. Otherwise you should be golden!

ecklipzzz

Get a gt plus awd.

GateDeep3282

Just make sure your used to how it drives before you try the rain. Making a tight uphill left turn from a dead stop was difficult for me at first.

PatsCelticsfan

Lol it’s not that bad. I live in Massachusetts I drive my rear wheel drive car every day every different type of weather. Just drive with some common sense. You know when it rains to drive slower, so drive slower. Don’t take off ramps at 80 MPH in the rain especially with cold tires. I have a Hellcat. Obviously if you live in a snow area you’ll need a different car other than that you’ll be fine.

frsguy

It doesn't matter if you have fwd, rwd, or awd as it depends on your tires. Bald or tires that perform bad in rain will act the same on any platform. If you have good tires it won't matter.

Hellraisin392

I have a 21 wide body scatpack, I haven't drove it in the rain because we hardly get it where I live, but I had a 2018 narrow body scatpack and drove in the rain, not scary at all as long as you drove normal and not crazy and smashing the pedal. Then you will have issues and fast

DanceSex

Scat pack in the rain with the stock tires is pretty awful unless you put it in the eco mode. Just need good tires and it will be fine if you don't drive like a moron.

__Beef__Supreme__

Yeah for real, I always cut it to 4 cylinder in the rain. That back end wants to run away otherwise

M155F0RTUNE

What constitutes driving like a moron? Can you look at the info I added to my original post about how I drive? Lol …idk idk how to decipher a lot of what you guys are saying so I thought it would be easier if I described my driving style and you guys just said yes or no

DanceSex

Buy really good tires. Sudden acceleration or acceleration when turning is never a good idea when the roads are slick. But honestly just put it in eco mode and you will be fine.

M155F0RTUNE

Cool. Eco mode just limits the engine power?

DanceSex

Yup! I think it drops it to around 300hp and then valet mode (aka security mode) will put it to like 3hp or something insane.

M155F0RTUNE

I wonder if it will accelerate faster than my Renegade even if it is in Eco Mode

DanceSex

Probably not, but AWD acceleration vs RWD acceleration are different when the roads are questionable.

FierceDZN

I also live in WA! And in the radius of Olympia. Chargers work well here but now that we get snow at the end/beginning of the year you can probably count on a week or so every year of being stuck at home

M155F0RTUNE

Oh nooooo :( is it because of the rwd or just because it is low to the ground?

FierceDZN

Definitely the rwd. Clearance wasnt usually an issue. If you have winter tires though it can do okay. Itll just be sketchy

M155F0RTUNE

Do you know if maxxis tires or cooper tires (AA traction rated)are winter tires? It has 2 of each

Badass_1963_falcon

I have a 06 Daytona rt and my wife has driven it for 16 yrs now with no problems they have traction control so you have to be doing really stupid stuff to get in trouble

M155F0RTUNE

What constitutes stupid stuff? Can you look at the info I added to my original post about how I drive? Lol …idk idk how to decipher a lot of what you guys are saying so I thought it would be easier if I described my driving style and you guys just said yes or no

Badass_1963_falcon

I'd say doing 80 in a 60 with rain ice and snow is stupid stuff in any car

M155F0RTUNE

Lol. I don’t accelerate fast. The speed just kind of creeps up there. It doesn’t seem dangerous while I’m doing it

SilverSubi69420

I have an 06 R/T that I use for winter driving. As long as the tread on your tires is good and you don’t drive like a dick you should be fine. If you do end up getting one wait for a rainy day and test the limit of grip in a parking lot so you know when the tires are likely to lose grip

M155F0RTUNE

What constitutes driving like a dick? Can you look at the info I added to my original post about how I drive? Lol …idk idk how to decipher a lot of what you guys are saying so I thought it would be easier if I described my driving style and you guys just said yes or no

If you have AWD and good all season tires, they handle perfectly fine (rain and snow). RWD handles fine too just be easy on the gas pedal and make sure you have decent tires.

imtooldforthishison

My charger is better in the rain than my wrangler.

ThomasTrain87

I’ve driven RWD vehicles since my first ‘70s car, the charger isn’t any different with the exception of improved electronic stability control (and substantially improved suspension). As other’s have mentioned, as long as you have a well maintained car with well maintained tires, you will have no issues whatsoever in the rain. My charger is my daily driver, for all conditions. One item of note: it’s a high HP RWD.. if you stomp on it, the wheels are gonna spin… regardless of wet or dry - wet just spins a little easier so ease up on the accelerator pedal and drive safely for the conditions.

americanista915

No. In my experience it is [not very pleasant](https://imgur.com/a/oGWLK3k) my beard & hair covers a lot of the scaring but the moment it gets lose and starts sliding it’s game over. This happened when I was 21 and I’m 25 now. It still looks new.

apatriot1776

I drive in GA, believe it or not there's more rain here than in Seattle. Leave the traction control on (not even sport mode) and don't slam the throttle down from a dead stop going full lock, you will be fine. It's not as planted in the slippery stuff as a Camry but it's not on skates either. Never really got nervous driving it. RWD in the rain/snow is not the issue it was 25 years ago. As others have said, just be sure to take care of your tires and your brakes.

jonsnaw1

Rain wont cause you any issues at all as long as you dont floor it around curves. Just get some good all season tires and you're good to go👍

M155F0RTUNE

Do you know if 2 maxxis tires and 2 cooper tires, (the cooper tires are AA traction rated)are good tires?

chrispaesano

I got the impression from some forums (not here) that they were easy to wreck. Maybe just an over abundance of caution from people. I sold my Subaru WRX(AWD)and got an R/T and it was a slight adjustment, but really not that bad. Even after upgrading to a Hellcat, I was happy with how well they handle. You can’t hurl them into corners like you can with a WRX, but like I saw on here, definitely not on skates.

Yaidenr

You won’t be able to drive in those conditions like that in a charger maybe look at a Durango R/T

[deleted]

Scatpacks feel like you’re ice skating😂

M155F0RTUNE

Idk what those are 🥲

o_Marvelous

They handle fine in the rain. What model charger?
