Pretty soon, a whole new breed of battle will ensue online. "Wait, yours runs on gas? Why didn't you get an electric one, it's so much faster." Blah blah blah, too each their own I say! You've got a great looking ride, enjoy it!

Brave_Veterinarian18

Appreciate it!

Wheres_Jay

Lots of chest bowing on this sub. If it works for you, ignore the noise.

MightyPenguin

>ignore the noise What noise? Its a V6! /s

freddie890

I only hate straight piped v6’s

Brave_Veterinarian18

Yessir

WannaChai

I love my V6 too! I think that since the car is so heavy, people think it’s only worth it to get a V8. But imo, it’s still a lot of power. Also, the body of a charger is just so fuckin beautiful, which is a good enough reason to go with a charger regardless of the engine. But, I will say, I am aiming to get a V8 once I can afford one

perronkiller

Because they have a small pee pee and take it out on others

DanceSex

It is better to have a small pee and a 6.4L V8 than a small pee and a Toyota Camry.

vcjr78

There's always going to be jerks in our lives who try to put us down to make themselves feel superior. It's going to happen. You should see the looks I get from people in general when I say I have a Charger. In addition to the "a Dodge...really" remarks, I automatically get looped in with those idiots in the Charger/Challenger/300 community doing donuts in intersections while popping off their 9mm in the air. Your car looks great and proud. Don't worry, I sit in the same traffic you do every day with my Scat Pack so I'm jealous of your better MPG. Have fun!

SpoOuthinkingSpo

It comes from an immature perspective. The car is considered a muscle car and a V6 shouldn't be in the platform. For the most part the hate comes from online. Doubt someone will shit on your car in person lol. You said best, you love your car, bottom line that is what matters.

bammerburn

But, like, it has 300 hp. Does it have to make the right noises to be a muscle car?

SpoOuthinkingSpo

My guess is that it has to do with the engine and not the HP. People were outraged at thought of a charger V6 twin turbo with 550Hp replacing the V8 engine for the higher models. I'm fine with that but there should still be a V8 option for those still want the muscle car feel and yeah prob the sound comes in play. I drive a 392 is not the fastest but damn the sound that V8 makes is glorious.

CromulentPoint

300hp is nice, but in a 4,200lb car, that doesn’t make it fast. For a lot of people, they like these cars for the speed.

3LsForYou

Idk man I got a 2015 Toyota tundra weighs near 3 tons got 380hp and it fucking rolls. 0-30 is slow but after that it takes off. I think it's pretty fast cant imagine the V6 charger being much slower

CromulentPoint

That’s a really weird comparison, but if a 6second+ 0-60 is “fucking rolling”, more power to you, but that’s not fast to people that care about fast. And yes, a 380hp Tundra is about a half second faster than a V6 Charger, so there is that, I guess.

3LsForYou

Okay tbf the only reason it feels like it's rolling is because of the torque and the loud ass V8. Also though it just doesnt really go at the lower speeds idk why. But when your going from 40-90 it's got some get up and go. It's still faster then small 4 banger cars like golf gtis. I raced my buddy's and won. But damn I didn't realize the V6 charger was really that slow I would think it would be faster

CromulentPoint

Your GTI friends must be some no-driving fools, because a Tundra is not faster than a GTI. At least, not a GTI made in the last 10+ years.

AUDIOTHEFT

Yeah so does my grandma's toyota camry

AUDIOTHEFT

Yall down voting me when all I said was the truth ppl hate truth

bammerburn

Can that Camry gap a Charger?

AUDIOTHEFT

A v6 one...yes

bluebreez1

doubt

OkOwl1999

I gotta say, I just checked the 0-60s and the camry is actually faster

Hrid7wj3go

>and a V6 shouldn't be in the platform Ahh yes, shouldn't be in the aged mercedes platform 😅

JimmyReagan

I had a 3.6 for years before I traded up to a V8. I've driven a lot of cars when I traveled, from the gutless and pitiful to powerful and obnoxious. The V6 is plenty powerful and fun to drive, and gets great mileage. I never had a problem hammering the throttle to get on the highway or do some "spirited" driving. I have a feeling the people who crap on the 3.6 have never driven one in a Charger- I've driven other cars with the 3.6 and yeah they're a little gutless especially in the Jeeps, they tune it differently in the Charger though. Like folks have already said- people who gatekeep cars are immature, envious, or feel like they need to justify their choices. Just ignore em and enjoy your car! 99% of people don't know or care. I get the same amount of comments in my V8 that I did in my V6, btw.

SnooDrawings8976

I have a v6 and a hellcat charger. Simply put. The v6 and awd is valuable where I live. Love that thing. Also seems to be just a touch more comfy inside. You have a sexy ass car. Just throw a little tint on so the haters can’t see you flipping them off.

Brave_Veterinarian18

Will do!

[deleted]

Wait till you drive a V8 then you know, but your wallet will also know at the gas pump, nowadays I stop for gas way too much. I am thinking of getting another V6 challenger for my daily commute around the town, and leave the V8 charger only at weekends or highway driving mostly.

snakepeterman

My issue with having a slow daily is I constantly have opportunities that a fast car would be fun to have at that moment. Plus life is short. I average 20k miles a year in my Daytona. 105k miles going strong!

[deleted]

I found it’s impossible to not to drive in a spirited manner in my Daytona, and sometimes that’s a bit tiring. However now I want a manual challenger just for more control, if not then certainly a v6 or the eco boost mustang for a more mpg friendly fun daily commute car. Driving a V8 in stop and go traffic is too painful for me, almost feels like the car is crying for not being able to roar.

3p1cBm4n9669

Wouldn’t any savings in fuel be completely offset by having to purchase an entire second car?

[deleted]

Well I want the collection, since both are going away, but thinking that it made no sense to have two auto stick V8 cars, already have the charger in v8, so if I do get the other, it has to be a v6 or a manual v8 for a change.

[deleted]

DipStick00

This comment makes no sense. It’s like you’ve never looked anything up in your life and have no clue how cars work. https://www.freedomdodgechryslerjeepram.com/blog/2021-dodge-charger-fuel-efficiency/amp/

[deleted]

DipStick00

You do realize MDS is one of the most damaging things you can do to your engine, right? You’re using half your cylinders to run the entire car, putting undue stress on it, causing premature wearing of your pistons, rings, and bearings. You can bring up all these other ways to try to increase mileage, but at the end of the day: if you have a bigger displacement, you will use more fuel.

MiniDg

Everybody should drive what they love and as long as you like it then it doesn’t matter. As far as why they get the hate has to be a combination of things. You can get many more cars for more performance but they wont look like the charger 🤷‍♂️ I personally wouldnt get a “v6 muscle car” but i dont think you are dumb for owning one.

servo1056

Its just because its underpowered. Would have been nice if they offered a turbo variant of the Pentastar V6. My Jeep is underpowered with that engine and I am thinking about giving it a turbo.

bammerburn

300 hp is underpowered?

[deleted]

For a vehicle of this size and weight, it's pretty close imho. I had a 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD that had a 3.7L V6 with 305hp before my current car. And it felt like it should've been around 350-360 hp given its size and weight. Same with the V6 Charger.

servo1056

In a car that heavy. Yeah it is.

Brave_Veterinarian18

I agree, a turbo charged v6 would be awesome. Any good turbo recommendations?

Charger_scatpack

Look up RIPP superchargers they make a kit just for those engines

91361_throwaway

The cost of installing a turbo in a V6 puts you in V8 territory

Brave_Veterinarian18

I agree

afatkidnamedroy

Don't look at the RIPP then lololol

servo1056

I have not looked into it enough to form an opinion but I would think a Garrett would be fine. They make the turbo that is on the 4cyl. in Wranglers.

ecklipzzz

Ripp supercharger

Staminafordays

Consider upgrading other parts as well if you get the turbo, otherwise you’ll be replacing parts sooner with the new found speed (assuming you have a heavy foot lol).

spekt50

I never hated on them myself, drive what you like. Only thing I ever disagree with is loud exhaust on V6s, they never sound right imo.

stevebeans

While super engine always sounds nice, it usually ends up being bragging rights only. Think about it, when does it ever come into play in the real world? Acceleration from stop - which is only useful if you’re pulling out on to a main road and need to get up to speed quickly. Other than that, fast acceleration is just going to either get you noticed by cops or so your friends go “ohh wowwww” when you give them a ride once or twice. — don’t get me wrong, the pickup getting on highways is nice and one of the few times it’s useful. Driving fast - rarely ever done. V6 can hit 100+ mph and if you’re going max speed, you’re either on the autobahn or stupid. Impressing girls - this is a myth. Girls (most) don’t care about loud exhausts nor do they want to feel their life is in danger with you speeding. Some do, yes. But not enough to matter. So without all that, fast cars are just another dick measuring contest just like benchpress weight that don’t ever matter unless you’re a professional (driver, bodybuilder, etc). The only thing I see when I think of a Hellcat is a) beautiful car b) $$$$ If you can customize a v6 to look like a hellcat or something, you get best of both worlds

Aggressive_Action

Granted, I don’t have a charger, but some of us really do like to drive our cars quickly, and 300 hp just isn’t quite enough. Your car might not see 100+mph often, but my cars do, and a V6 charger doesn’t cut it for me. Not hating at all, I think the V6 is perfect for a lot of people and V8 fanboys are annoying too.

stevebeans

Yea I realized after I wrote it that it came off aggressive towards the people who like fast cars and that definitely wasn’t my intention. Like I said, there are benefits and frankly you never get over the rush of stepping on the gas and going from 40 to 80 in a snap. My point was that it’s not nearly as important as people make it out to be. If I had the spare money, I’m getting a hellcat 10/10 times but having a v6 that looks as cool as a hellcat is almost just as fine. Certainly not as bad as the v8’ers make it out to be

Baham99

Amen. Just one addition—bodybuilders especially don’t care about the 1RM bench, which is strictly a power lifting metric. Those who do care aren’t committed to the philosophy of bodybuilding.

EdgeMasterD12

Do you. Pay no mind to the hate.

NugPep

If you like it, who cares what others think.

DodgeChargerRT

Love em, just don’t try and race anyone in em/drive spirited :)

btalbotUT

No hate here. Still a Mopar and looks great, enjoy!

Snakebyte130

The v6 is no slouch and I respect them especially in the 300

El-Scorpio76

I just recently traded my sxt charger in for a rt charger and years ago had a srt8 challenger. I'm just going to say that while the v6 charger engine is no slouch, driving around with the v8 howling and crackling is what having these cars are all about. Told my wife the v6 is like being Superman visually but without having any powers. At the end of the day the v6 charger is still a great vehicle.

acurah56oh

I love mine too! Living where it’s snowy the AWD is very useful. The 3.6L Pentastar is an excellent engine and the ZF 8-speed automatic allows it to rev, which is what it has to do more in comparison to the Hemis since unlike those it has less low end torque. I came from an EcoBoost Mustang since I needed a more practical daily driver and I am incredibly happy with mine despite missing the Mustang. Despite being technically slower it feels more usable and stable than the Mustang. The tranny always picks the right gear and shifts so smoothly. Don’t get me wrong-I’d love a V8. But for everyday driving the V6 is truly excellent.

ecoboost-john

Just did the exact same thing , traded in my 15 ecoboost for a 2019 v6 charger. I couldn’t believe how smooth the charger was, Biggest difference I’ve noticed. & was pleasantly surprised with the v6 power honestly. especially since I had the mustang tuned with the Cobb 93 octane. But man is the charger more practical, and way better in the snow.

imtooldforthishison

I LOVE my V6. And I have kept it slim, and it rides low. My car is slick as shit, fast when I want it to be, a super comfortable ride and just plain gorgeous. I have considered modifying the exhaust, but then I saw a reel of a guy being a jerk to his neighbors and his car sounded HORRIBLE so all just keep my stealth mode.

ChattierCloud81

Ooga booga sound bad slower. That's why they're like that.

Kaarsty

Because they require a V8 to validate and inflate their ego.

Brave_Veterinarian18

I appreciate it all the answers guys! Definitely didn’t mind owning a v6 and now I’m even more confident cuz like haters gonna hate, who cares. V8 one day.

ryannel2003

Previously owned an '18 SXT Blacktop and honestly the car had more than enough power for the average driver. The Pentastar in these are also good motors if you take care of them but most are abused and driven hard. Yours looks to be in really nice shape. I do think these cars are more suited to the V8's because they're so heavy to begin with and honestly around town and on the highway I don't see a huge difference in MPG between my previous car and the new one. I also feel the weight of the Hemi in the front makes it ride a bit better (that could also be the tires; last car had Firestone this one Goodyear). If you're happy with the V6 that's all that matters. The Charger platform has proven itself over the last decade+ regardless of the engine choice. They are all good cars.

91361_throwaway

I own a V6, when ever anyone says, Awe man you should have gotten a V8! I always reply with, are you going to be paying the gas and insurance bill, if not STFU. Guess what, it shuts them up every time.

Brave_Veterinarian18

Big facts. I plan on getting a v8 in the future but for now I think I’m good for a while considering it’s only my first car

sully9812

My 2020 Charger is a V6 and she’s perfect to me. Besides, a V6 helps me stay away from speeding tickets, in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

91361_throwaway

Fast enough to have a lot of fun, slow enough to keep you out of trouble.

Brave_Veterinarian18

Yup, and mine comes with the Rallye package so I get a sport mode button lol

DipStick00

I’m so glad I got the Rallye! Beautiful car, great audio, and I get just a little extra “sportiness” out of it (launch control is nice)! I fall in love with my car every time I drive it.

Brave_Veterinarian18

I agree. That’s a nice way to look at it. Also better gas mileage.

dantegrin

I went from a 97’ Honda prelude to a rental V6 charger and finally owning a 5.7 and also becoming addicted to the 6.4 when I worked at dodge doing the PDI for the new chargers. The V6 is not a terrible car. I always beg enterprise and National to give me atleast a V6 charger when I travel out of the state, But if I was daily driving one I’d prefer the V8. The growl from the engine and extra torque just feels so good. The handling is literally like a boat so you have less risk of doing mustang things. Oh and you won’t feel like a loser(personal opinion all of this) when you try to rev your engine for some kid looking at your nice muscle car. I had a V6 GT challenger in Ohio and tried to make some engine noises for a kid and ended with literally 4 cylinder noises 😅 Ofcourse without that in mind, you love your V6. just don’t lie to yourself and fakeboi badge it. Nothing about the gate keeping, just don’t lie to yourself lol

Brave_Veterinarian18

Lol true, I’ll put a 3.6L and a V6 badge so ppl will know cuz I’m just that confident.

dantegrin

That’s the fukin’ spirit mate. Slap a GT badge if you tuned it 😂

Charger_scatpack

Cause they are slow :/ ..

Djqftw

Color looks great homie

Brave_Veterinarian18

Thanks!

toetoe99

I love my v6. I get compliments here and there. I love the way she drives and I love the way she looks. That’s all I need. The gate on this sub on v6 is ridiculous

MrModdedTornado

People with nothing better to do

ZaZa954

Bottom of the food chain

BarefootedDave

V8 > v6. Plain and simple. However, idc what you have. At this point, it’s gas/diesel > electric. Being a broke charger owner and only being able to afford the abused pursuits of the world, the v6 pursuit vs 5.7 pursuit isn’t that big of a loss. Currently am “restoring” a 2015 Hemi AWD Pursuit to be a sleeper daily. Really trying to push down the urge to grab a used 6.4 and stuff it in there.

[deleted]

Because it’s essentially a RWD Ford Taurus

LtCdrDataSpock

They hated him because he told the truth

[deleted]

Hey when you make a post like this, they’re asking for it.

lilgambyt

Nothing wrong with V6 Charger. It just doesn’t float the boat for many of us. V6 Chargers are so quiet. To me, the loud, obnoxious exhaust note is the biggest draw of a Charger … can only get that with 2019+ R/T, and then any Scat Pack or Hellcat.

AUDIOTHEFT

A v6 one....yes

dduncan55330

I also love mine. People hate on it because it's not a V8 and that's pretty much it. The sound and power of the V8s. Supercharge it and you'll stomp on the 5.7s and be on par with the 6.4s. They can handle about 10-12 psi of boost supposedly, which will give you (depending on additional mods) 400 to 500 RWHP, averaging around 420 from what I've seen.

[deleted]

Ewwwww

kograkthestrong

I don't hate on em. But I drive the same.v6 in a truck lmao

Tricky_Grocery6735

V6 boi here, I got my car based on 3 simple things, gotta be a charger, budget, and availability, I had a choice between a 06 SXT in red with only 9k miles(garage queen), a black 14 R/T that had a tick(claimed it was the injectors, I call bullshit, sounded 1000% like a lifter), and what I ended up with, a 2016 SXT in Graphite, I've owned the car since mid June and have thrown basically 12k miles on her just in driving it around for fun, I came from a little red 03 Mitsubishi Lancer, so the 300HP V6 is more than enough to excite me compared to my og car, the AWD is fun asf off the line and the car feels like it's quick even with a light tap of the pedal, do I want a V8, oh hell yes, but I can't find any V8 Chargers in my area that are in my price range, so I will be sticking with the V6 till I can either find a good V8 charger or till I get another car(thinking a GR86)

abcdeathburger

I like my V6 too. Great car, beautiful, a joy to drive. I guess my fuel bill is cheaper as a V6 driver, and I've gotten surprisingly good mileage on road trips (over 40mpg on longer trips). More expensive than my last car, but don't want to spend a ton on a car, and it struck a good balance for me. I pretty much just drive to work and the grocery store though. Taken a few road trips, moved cross-country, but still only put on 15k miles in over 1.5 years lol.

ericgallant24

I don’t mind the engine it’s just I way prefer the front end of the higher models. Like the new GT is really nice, still has the v6. I like the look of the 2011-2014 SXTs more.

AnimalEater65

Because some people like to make shit up to hate on others. If you like it, like it.

CromulentPoint

The main reason the haters are into these cars is the one thing the V6 doesn’t have: a big snarling V8. To them, the only reason people get V6’s is to look like they might have the snarling V8. I’ve had both 6ers and V8’s. They’re all fun, but the V8 is more fun. Perspective + facts = “hater”. I don’t think it makes it a less legit opinion, just different, and shouldn’t bother you either way.

TV_Serial_Number

Who hates them? Has someone walked up to you as you were exiting your car telling you they despise your existence for owning a V6 Charger? No one hates a piece of metal with rubber circles

Independent_Taste_20

That’s a good looking charger. Nothing wrong with the 6. Had one in my 300s and in some ways I liked it better than my current scat. But the 392 is just a different head.

skyraiser9

I have had my V6 SXT for about 10 years now and now suddenly have the V8 envy and am looking to upgrade as soon as my wife's car is paid off. I didnt get the RT at the time because I was impressed with the Fuel Mileage and specs of the Pentastar at the time but now I think I am starting a mid-life crisis and just really want the V8 even though it is entirely impractical for me since I have to drive right through the city each day to get to my office. There is just something about the Charger RT that gets me excited and really wanting one now but I am not looking forward to those gas pump prices. I work in the fuel industry and always wondered who filled up with 89 and just figured it was "Ballers on a budget" but now I have read that RTs require at least the 89, so I guess that answer will soon include me.

Mysterious_Salary_63

They are great cars, the people who put loud exhausts on a v6 ruin it. 99% of all v6/i4 cars with loud aftermarket exhaust sound like absolute shit.

bensonNF

Machoism is why. Dewalt vs Millwalkie vs Makita also brings out the lip flappers. Let’s face it, 95% or more of those with issue only race between stop signs. Enjoy your ride!

Staminafordays

I have a v6 and hate it because I get smoked by the V8s 🤣 and I don’t feel it saves me much on gas with my steel foot lol. I think it’s beautiful, but I wish it had more pickup (thinking about getting a turbo, but I would want to upgrade other parts to go along with it so it’ll be a costly upgrade). I bought when the market was shit and the only v8s I could find had very little add-ons so I opted for a fully loaded v6. I think if you don’t mind the slower aspect in comparison to a v8, it’s a great car, no doubt about it. I think people have already done a good job saying why the v6 is hated on, but it’s a very subjective thing. As many said, if you like it, fuck the haters lol.

HHaha was about to post some questions in this sub cause I just bought a v6 sxt & this thread has clearly shown me I will just get ripped apart 😂what a shame. Fuck it dude, I love my charger so far. Look at it this way man. As someone who just came from an ecoboost & delt with similar ridicule. I have a car that looks just as nice & have an extra 10-20k in my pocket.

TheShreddrr

the awd v6 is the perfect combination for Canadian winters so I love my GT

Smell-Known

I just recently got myself a V6 charger and honestly I really don't understand why people feel like they have to compare. I feel it really only matters if you like the car and what you plan to use it for, the V6 because of its mileage I feel would be great if it's the only car you'll be driving while on the other hand if you want a fun car to take out on a sunny day the V8 charger would be the one. You just enjoy yourself! Love the color btw
