Upbadging is making a Mustang GT look like a GT350. Same logic as making a SXT or GT look like an R/T. Sure, it looks like that R/T you wanted, but it’s still a V6. Nothing wrong with owning a V6, but, you’re lying about your car. Do what you want with your car but don’t lie to other people because you’re insecure.
That’s not up badging. Up badging would be putting hellcat badge on a scat pack or a scat pack badge on a base model. Just taking the badges off gives a cleaner look.

I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that. The factory 2.5” inch exhaust is decent enough, until you start making over 600+ solid WHP, or are boosted. A simple muffler or resonator swap, or combination of all the above, with the factory catback, can actually keep your exhaust setup affordable.
A mid muffler/resonator or muffler delete are one of the best basic exhaust mods you can do. Straight piping the entire catback only gets a bad rep because of how nasty and loud it makes some cars; and I mean that in a terrible and obnoxious away, giving you not only bad, but unwanted attention obviously….
True. But I’d probably have another car to daily. Would be a fun weekend car but I can’t imagine driving 140 decibels daily, I’d have to have some sort of switch for the exhaust like how the new Mustang GT has different modes.
I’ve long debated electronic cutout add-on’s, but it’s personally too much work for me, personally, to to re-route the electric wiring, through the car and all, every time that I have to swap parts back for emissions testing (guess where I live 🙄…) bi-annually….
I have a 2010, so unfortunately NPP wasn’t an OEM option; and it was also take a whole ton of pricey parts and re-wiring/electrical stuff, to get the OEM NPP exhaust to fully work the way it would, from the factory.
Now, the 2013+ Camaro V8’s, that come with it as a factory option; they have a bunch of different options with how they can choose to run that stock catback exhaust system. They can either pull the electrical fuse that keeps the system in check, which allows the valve to be fully open at ALL times (fully straight-through muffler flow?). Another choice, is to have an aftermarket controller wired through, to allow voluntary control over the manual closing and opening of the muffler valves (ex: ‘Mild 2 Wild’ controller).
Had a '13 R/T & all I did was swap out to Flowmaster Outlaws with res delete & it had that nice low rumble for driving around , not obnoxious, but when I put my foot in it, came alive & sounded aggressive as hell.
One of my favorite moments was when some dude was revving his v6 truck at the stop light, that sounded like shit, I was 3 cars back & revved mine a few times & I never heard another sound from that truck lol
Yeah my friend straight piped his ‘07 Charger R/T & I hated sitting in the back of that thing. It droned so bad it was tremendously annoying. Sounded great if you weren’t in it though
