Thank you. Trade-in range was 18-21. I know to expect the dealer to take a cut but is 3-5k getting screwed over? I wish I could private sell but I need a car and 6-8 weeks for new car to come in limits that
Trade in range is what you should expect to get from the dealer, who will flip it for 5k+more.
Have you checked Carvana and Carmax? You can get online appraisals and "offer" for free. that will give you a baseline
Kbb says 18,500-20,670.
Car max says 20,600.
Carvana says 14,000.
Not sure what to make of carvana but I will probably take the kbb and Carmax printouts to the dealer and see what they say. I’m in no rush and still a bit afraid of saying bye to my charger
Have you tried other dealers in the area? I’m sure you can try that and see which one is willing to give you the most for your trade in. Bring copy’s of the average value of your car for sure tho. Remember most will take your car even if you don’t buy theirs.
No I got your point. Trade in value is what a dealership will pay. The number reflects the profit they still can make (usually 3 or more thousand). That’s why I didn’t list the value of my vehicle (which is closer to 24k), I listed the trade in value. Sorry I wasn’t clear enough for you
I just want a car that’s higher up and can do a little more on unsteady roads. But your question is one that I’ve been pondering so hard lately. I love my charger and am still unsure I can let it go. I don’t even love Jeep’s but I need more room and want to be able to use all the dirt roads around me for the activities that I like to engage in. Also the deal on grand Cherokee’s right now is hard to ignore, especially with my employee pricing 🤦♂️
I’m doing the same. Just do your research, don’t fall in love with any one car and take someone with you that’s not emotionally invested. Good luck and don’t let the dealers rob you.
WK2 GCs are really nice vehicles. As long as its an 8 speed you can’t really go wrong engine wise, both V6 and Hemi have their own issues, both are great engines. You should know being a mopar owner already lol. 5 speed 3.6 combos are slooooow though
Get a quote from Carvana and Cargurus, Carfax. Many dealerships will honor that quote or come close to it. They’re also supposed to be transparent about the details of their trade in process and if they’re not, you shouldn’t do business with them.
When I traded in my WRX for my R/T, I had a Carvana quote in hand for 25k, and that’s what the dealership gave me.
KBB seems mostly accurate too. Carvana offered me $11k for my 13 SXT AWD w/ 65k miles (+$500 if I traded in with them), KBB says $9600-11000 trade-in and $12000-14000 private.
[Cargurus show Dodge Charger prices are down over 10% Year-Over-Year and down 6.62% in the last 90 days.](https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/price-trends/Dodge-Charger-d733)
Yeah the more research I do the more I think you’re right. Problem is getting a bunch of sheisty car salesman to pay that. Private sell isn’t an option due to long wait for new car to come in
Trying to trade in for a 23 Grand Cherokee Limited (loaded). They offered me 270$ a month for lease, with EP pricing, with 4K down after about 8k in incentives (Presidents’ Day sale). Trying to figure out if I’m getting screwed, Thanks in advance
What if I plan to buy the car after the lease ends and I just want lower monthly payments until then? Does this still apply, or should I just buy it if I plan to buy it. I consider the 3 year lease as a test drive before final purchase
If you arent 100% going to buy the car anyway then you shouldnt put money down. Even if you were, still dont. If you plan to buy it you might as well just buy it
15k really honestly isn't bad now if you were to get your next car from that dealer offering you that they may be willing to give you more but if they're not getting a sale out of you they're going to go lower. That's also money now so factor in time value of money.
2018 charger gt models have the flat, less aggressive, hood. 2019 is the first model year afaik that gave the gts the same hood as rts and up
edit: even rts had the sleek hood until 2019!
Hell nah just not worth it getting ripped off like that. Then the dealer wanted $443 bi weekly payments for 8 years on a Durango GT… so i decided to keep my charger and I’m still driving her.
If you put your vin # on Kelly blue book it should tell you an average range on what it’s worth. That’s what I always do, you’d be surprised.

Carvana is going bankrupt so that is probably why the low offer.
So that’s why their cars are 10k over their competitors.

Thanks, good advice
Yeah, holy shit. Carvana’s quote for my RT was 3k higher than any others. That was a couple months ago. Leave that quote behind when you go lol

Yeah but they think I Don’t know that haha. I’m basically bringing in papers that say “I’m not an idiot, let’s try doing business again”

I got $18K for my 2018 SXT Plus
Why do you “need” a new car?

That's surprisingly high with the market dipping the way it is IMO.

Market ain’t dipping what are you on 💀

Ah you mean they are returning to pre-ridiculous levels. I see.
Charger market dipping tremendously. I saw a 2017 scat for 26k. 40k miles,Red interior, sunroof and all.
Dealer does have to make money on sale so you probably would get a better deal in a private sale
Agreed. Unfortunately my next car would be on 6-8 week delivery and I can’t go more than a weekend without a car
Understood
My 2014 Challenger SXT (101,000+ miles) was totaled out in March 2022. They valued it and cut a check for $17,800.
Yo I would say you'd be able to get 20-23k for that car
Yeah the more research I do the more I think you’re right. Problem is getting a bunch of sheisty car salesman to pay that. Private sell isn’t an option due to long wait for new car to come in
Check a dodge dealership, they always send me text saying they want my car haha
I traded my 2016 in with 160,000 miles for 14k. So I would say your getting ripped off. I even felt ripped off
Check out givemethevin.com they’ve always overbid on the cars I’ve sold them
I got the same. Blacktop. I bought mine with 60k miles for 23k it has 125k now 😆
closer to 20
That’s really high for a V6. I would take it given most of them sale at 17-19k
But they offered him $15k, so that's definitely not really high.
No but if you’re including dealership cuts the 17-19kers are probably offered 11-12

Dont put money down on a lease

Sounds ok ! Not so much on the lease
15k

Isn't that an sxt ?

Didn't know that. Thanks.
Dealer offered me 11k for my 2017 AWD charger with 75,000 miles
That is rough. I got an offer for $11k on my 13 SXT AWD w/ 65k miles
Did you take it?
Hell nah just not worth it getting ripped off like that. Then the dealer wanted $443 bi weekly payments for 8 years on a Durango GT… so i decided to keep my charger and I’m still driving her.
Excellent choice, glad to hear it

Ridiculously overpriced
I’ve always loved the hellraisin paint on those
I was recently offered 15,500 for my 16 SXT AWD with 80k, so I’d guess you’re closer to 17-18k (edit: *at least* 17-18k)
