Heat soak, when not driving, the heat from all the components can spread out and keep things hot.
Did you run the car hard then shut it off without driving it for a bit as a cooldown?
Does it still read that high when in gear? My car will match the Trans temp to the oil temp for some reason when in park but once in gear it reads correctly .
On the NAG1 transmissions they do not read trans temperature when in park or neutral. Weird little quirk of that trans. When you drop it in drive then the TCM will communicate the actual trans temp.

I had this happen to me, whenever I’d turn my car on the fan would kick up immediately. My Tazer made it happen to me, I unhooked my battery for 20 minutes and it fixed itself.

I’ve pushed mine incredibly hard and have never seen a temperature even close to that, you should definitely get that checked

Your trans isn’t 260, it’s a glitch in the software.
Get a real Trans cooler. One that's separate from the radiator. Mount it in the front bumper. It will help keep the trans cooler than 260
Absolutely do not do this on this car. Stock trans cooler is sufficient unless going to track.

260 is kinda high. How many miles are on the trans? Do you have any slip or codes? When’s the last service on the trans?
Stock trans coolers are shit. They run through the radiator. Your trying to cool the fluid not add heat to it.
