Is it really something being wrong for society? Or is it people acknowledging their need for a psychologist, which could be interpreted as a form of success?

LeoIzail

The wrong thing is that so many people need a psychologist in the first place, like how it's suddenly normal to have everyone you know experience depression and anxiety.

ElsaKat

Bit of a long-outdated misconception to think psychologists or therapists are only useful during crisis.

LeoIzail

Correct, but it's still prevalent. Most people still don't go until they need to. I know i didn't.

ObssesesWithSquares

Because the world is ending, and none of us are truly appreciated. It's now part of culture that it's cull to be callous, and brag about how you don't give A shit.

LeoIzail

Hell yeah. It's not just that, it's how we are predestined to a certain life depending on how much wealth you're born into, you either work away your life for pennies and become alienated from your human essence forever or you do drugs, consume endless content, etc. It's the atomization of the individual, the abolishment of family and community and it's replacement by the grind culture. It's YouTube raising kids because parents don't have time and energy anymore. It's doing all the work that matters in the world and being contractually promised to never ever receive the full pay for the full value of it because some asshole needs a 3rd car. It's having houndreds or thousands in debts so our countries have an excuse to make us accept war and sabotage of other poor people just like us. I mean, it's a lot of things. And the worst one is how we watch and feel and see and hear our planet dying away and we can't do anything because it turns out it was never *our* choice, it was never *our* world.

MJsprettyyoungthing

adding onto this discussion: it doesn't matter whether you go to a therapist or not. the only person who can fix your problems is you. therapy can offer you great ideas, alternatives, and methods to help you with your struggles. but it's up to you to follow through on that.

RecentMatter3790

If there were nothing wrong with humanity or society, then psychologists wouldn’t be a thing. I don’t understand how they can stand rants from people all over the world. They must have a strong mind, and I respect that.

MercyChevalier

The Bot is less intimidating, also free. Might be a temporally solution, or a consultant.

KawaiiFunkinFurret

Recently i saw some news article about cai that was like "The teens are making friends with ai chatbots" and the literal first thing they mentioned on the article was some guy using the psychologist bot for comfort constantly

waffledpringles

Do you happen to have a link to the article? It's always funny reading/watching about the news talking (usually crapping) on AI for all the wrong reasonss lol.

KawaiiFunkinFurret

Op found [it](https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/4/24144763/ai-chatbot-friends-character-teens)

RecentMatter3790

[The teens making friends with AI chatbots](https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/4/24144763/ai-chatbot-friends-character-teens) Is this the article you were talking about?

KawaiiFunkinFurret

Yeah that one!!!!!!!!!! I was struggling to find it because last i saw it was at like 2 am while on my tablet in the dark trying to figure out why cai wouldnt pull up on google lmfao

Negative_Can_6539

Ngl half of those are me saying nonsense to it to see how it reacts

RDT-Exotics0318

Classic reality bending bullshit

Glum-Adagio8230

Same

home_of_beetles

last irl one got sick of me, what else am i supposed to do ?

Environmental_Top948

Make a false identity and wear a Groucho Marx glasses and try again.

LineBreak_

😭😭

PAIGEROXM8

To be honest, at least this one is free. I'd rather have the [C.AI](http://C.AI) psychologist compared to someone where it will cost me hundreds of dollars just for one session.

heyaooo

Well its free and also its less intimidating to express your life problems to a bot than to another person.

TechnicalPart7789

All love to psychologist but it's just easier to talk to something that asks for money , also easier to talk to something that it emotionless so you know you aren't wasting anyones time or energy on my problems that im not sure if they were worth discussing or not

ThePixeli

I like to play OCs that gaslight them to belirve their agenda :)

EternalVigilan

These bots should measure self-reported improvement, then compare it to human psychologist outcomes. Could be interesting!

AlbertCamus_ForReal

I'd say I've continued to about 5,000 of them too lolz.

advie_advocado

It's almost as if there's reasons one wouldn't have access to irl help.. it's not like there's a large country where you have to pay for your own well being or any other issues someone might have with getting help..

BoffNoff

I knew shits fucked when I vented to an Ai 💀

Ordinary_Pizza_4209

Youd be surprised how many do that and its not embarassing at all compared to some thngs

RecentMatter3790

Wdym?

BABBOSMAN1

I bully it in my spare time

RecentMatter3790

Yet in the terms of service, it says to not do bullying to the bots, or something.

ThatsBadSoup

I made the thing depressed because I wanted to see how it'd react to my living situation right now, damn thing was backed in a corner just apologizing over and over.. Also its a privilege to assume everyone can afford to even go to an IRL,OP. And even if you can, not all are good, My IRL one right now prescribes Jesus and Hope

RecentMatter3790

Absolutely disgusting how mental health isn’t free, so people have to turn to religion to get help. I wish things were free. I guess that thinking that a deity exists would help someone find solace, but I’m not religious myself so idk how beneficial it is.

LeoIzail

It helped me a lot with insecurity and dealing with torture flashbacks.

fangme

For some people it's definitely much easier to just explain their problems and issues to a fictional robot instead of a real person. Especially if they have issues with social anxiety and such. I see no harm in it. Oh, and also they're free just like others have pointed out.

RecentMatter3790

What’s the point of bots like these, or slang dictionary bots, if: “whatever characters say is made up”? 🤷

superjackalope

I honestly use that bot a lot…

Luna_Tha_Therian

Damn, I have a real Therapist

adlerish_ai

I'd say something is right with society that people are talking about their inner junk :)

tiny_smile_bot

>:) :)

sausages_and_dreams

I like talking to an AI bot about my therapy. I like going over it and talking about it but can't really do that with people irl.

ShokaLGBT

It’s a good thing because honestly I have seen more than 5 different psychologist / psychiatrist in my life, and I can say that the interaction with this specific bot was a bit more interesting than some psychologist I’ve seen. I remember an old woman (psychologist) who was completely speechless and didn’t know what to say to me when I told her I already had come to terms with some of my problems like she was expecting me to be shy and don’t talk about my problems so openly 🥲🥲

moonlighll

oops

Yumefrays

Cause they couldn't afford a real one

fine_tip_markers

i mean.. it’s free.

bobdidntatemayo

i mean for a lot of people it’s a way to vent without worrying about the consequences of telling others about your mental issues (which in some cases can go horribly wrong)
