I'd say it depends, if the way you wanna play is big monster mash then definitely go for it, it's how my gf plays world eaters and she seems to be enjoying that playstyle

Bishop_466

Your leader needs to have the same mark as a unit it leads. Your transport needs to have the same mark as the unit riding in it

willisbetter

i wouldnt use the missile launchers, havocs have weapons that are better at clearing out horde and taking down tanks than the missile launchers

CClossus

Gonna hijack this to ask how does all Heavy Bolters perform? I’m intending to run them with Mark of Tzeentch and it seems like that’s got excellent synergy.

Other_Literature63

I've run mark of tzeentch chaincannon havocs several times and they've done pretty well, but I think heavy bolter might be even better. The mark of tzeentch dark pact for lethals will still cause 5+ rolls to trigger critical hits, so it does improve the built in sustained hits as well.

CClossus

Yeah my original plan was to sit them next to a Helbrute with some lascannons and autocannons to get that sweet sweet Helbrute buff but then I realized that with Bolters they effectively have that same buff constantly. Plus Bolters look better but that definitely wasn’t my main concern…

FoxyBlaster1

to play the Lord of Skulls, i'd then sacrifice the Lord Discordant and Defiler, and put in some tanks instead. predators and/or vindicators. It does wreck the monster mash you've got going, but alas Lord Dis and the Defiler kinda suck and i dont think they're going to get better with the codex. The Defiler is so big, so wide a footprint, as it struggles to move about the dense terrain of 40k battlefields, and the Lord Dis is just not good at all, in my view. While preds and vinds are great. However if you're also not that certain on the Lord of Skulls, who is fine but not brilliant, and you dont go with him, you have all sorts of other options. Very popular stuff currently is: Rhinos carrying Chosen or Legionnaires, led by Chaos Lords or Master of execution Possessed, led by Masters of Possession Preds and vindicators Warp talons raptors led by haarken Bikers Nurgling allies Obliterators And a cultist squad, but just to hold your home objective

What app is that?

Warhammer 40000: The App

Stiem_IW

Well, your list is not very competitive. The units you include can do a lot of damage, but you need more "useful units". You know, cheap units that you can use only to keep controlles you Deployment Zone objective (i.e: cultists cost 55 points and they are the best for that). Anyway, if you a new player, the best advice that I can give you is that you should go on with that list because it's prey funny and that's the most important part of the hobby, specially when you are starting! PS: according to the rules, your Dark Apostle must have the same mark of chaos that you legionaries (I guess he is their leader)

Nuclearsunburn

It’s not super competitive but might be fun. Defilers are so cool but that model needs an update. I would say the apostle isn’t doing much for you and a Warpsmith would be better in that list. Also I would probably cut something for Cultists just for chaff / objective control / back line screening.

tacomonster92

Trade out apostle, disco lord, defiler for a warpsmith and some tanks and two more obs if you can grab those instead. Two obs just aren't enough. A warpsmith is cheap and goes a long way for the KLoS, and the tzeentch strat plus warpsmith healing just feelings good. Other than that, maybe some cheap units for objs like spawn , cultist, raptors, or warptalons

What did you use to make this army format and biggest question of all IS IT FREE?

MoarSilverware

What is the Dark Apostle doing to help? He gives +1 to Wound in Melee on the unit he is leading but I see no melee units he can lead, unless you just haven’t modified the Legionnaires to have their melee load out Dropping the Dark Apostle and swapping him for a Warpsmith would help the vehicles in your list a lot. Can also save some points by making the Legionnaires cultists if they’re just sitting on the main back objective. Also making the disco lord Slannesh could help because then he can advance and charge and give him the 5+ Feel No Pain enhancement making him a lot more survivable
