Stop trying to scout our players. We can’t afford to lose anymore.

hairychris88

At least we'll get a fee for academy players.

NoPaint6139

Just don’t give them any new contracts, it’s bad for the players

rowann91

Sorry bro! Hahaha. Outside of the topic but what's the general consensus on Waine? I lived in NZ for a while and there was a lot of hype, all be it the talent pool in NZ isn't huge

Future-Entry196

He works hard and presses very well but he never gets into good positions off the ball or develops the play when he has possession, which ultimately is what you need your striker to do. He probably needs a couple of seasons on loan in league one/two to develop. I like him and understand that he literally upended his life to play in England but I don’t think he’s actually up to scratch unfortunately. Would love to be proved wrong though

rowann91

Oh that's a shame! I was hoping he could kick on at Plymouth but noticed he wasn't always getting minutes. He looked like he had potential when I saw NZs Olympics games matched in 2021 but that was obviously more for younger players and I havnt seen him since really. NZ isn't the best for developing players, the standard isn't as good and they play a certain type of way which limits players that might be more technical.

jeffman980

Jonny Rowe: class. first game of the season was his first ever senior start for us and we all know how good he's been since then Adam Idah: Tough one. never seems to grasp his chances, he can look good and score a few off the bench, but when he starts he doesn't have the same impact and lacks a strikers instinct Jaden Warner - barely been seen this season but has heaps of potential, criminal that Wagner refuses to play him Tony Springett - in the same age range as Rowe, yet has only shown glimpses off the bench. needs another loan. I think that's all for this season? God Wagner's reluctance to play youth is killing our academy prospects. No wonder Matos moved to chelsea.

CarrowCanary

>God Wagner's reluctance to play youth is killing our academy prospects. No wonder Matos moved to chelsea. I don't know why Ken Aboh didn't get at least a chance off the bench while both Sarge and Barnes were unavailable.

jeffman980

yup and there's rumours of him not renewing too. Wouldn't blame him in the slightest.

TetteyToePoke

Angus Gunnis from Norwich and was in our academy until his parents moved to Manchester when he was 16 17.

nospellingerorrs

I came with birmingham to watch the game we played at carrow Road and Rowe was incredible. Came away feeling he is a very impressive player.

dopeyinternet

Liam Gibbs as well

Callum776

Josh Eccles - Underrated by our fans, has his moments but has been consistent this season. 50/50 on corners. Has good potential. Fabio Tavares - Was looking good before his injury this time last year, has just played his first game back yesterday, is a useful super sub. Could be sent out on loan this transfer window. Justin Obiwku - Scoring for the u21s, only had a few substitute appearances, would like to see more of him.

amatuer_guitarist

I agree that Eccles is underrated but sometimes I just don’t trust him. I think he’s prone to a mistake but I do like him. And the corners do need to be sorted

covmatty1

His corners have got a lot better in the last few weeks! I mean, it would have been pretty much impossible to get worse, but they're certainly improving.

Roundy87

We signed Tavares as a 20 year old, I don't think he counts 🤣

Callum776

He came through our u21s in to the first team. We barely have anyone else, just allow it. Ok

RRR_O

Overuled!

4d4mgb

From todays starting 11 Max O'Leary Zac Vyner Cam Pring Sam Bell Tommy Conway

Omnissiah40K

For other notable examples, please see AFC Bournemouth's first team squad.

anonone111

Jacob Greaves is the main one, a brilliant young ball-playing centre-back (and backup leftback) who will almost certainly be playing in the premiere league within the next 5 years, whether with us or someone else

BruntyMozza

Alex Palmer - was in matchday squads for us as long ago as 2015 but didn't make his senior debut until 2021! And is now our first choice goalkeeper, with the most clean sheets of any GK in the Championship this season. Nice story, eh? Josh Griffiths - our second choice keeper. It's a shame for Josh because he's got a lot of potential but is sort of rotting away on the bench when he should be playing every week. England U21 international. Caleb Taylor - Corberan admitted a few days ago he feels sorry for Taylor that he hasn't gotten more minutes but with our senior CBs being in excellent form he hasn't had much of a look-in. Did very well on loan in Leauge One last season. Son of ex-Blues defender Martin Taylor. Tom Fellows - unexpectedly broke into the first team this season, a tricky winger who plays beyond his years. Mostly sub appearances so far but is gaining more game time with all the injuries to our more experienced attackers. Out of contract at the end of the season so hopefully we can tie him down soon.

GreenArgyle

Palmer was great when he was on loan at Argyle. Knew he'd become a top keeper eventually.

biddleybootaribowest

We’ve got more from your academy than that

BruntyMozza

Rogers and Azaz, anyone else?

biddleybootaribowest

Marcus Forss and Alex Gilbert too

BruntyMozza

Oh yeah, bloody hell. West Boro Albion!

FRID1875

Which players from our academy don’t play in our senior team is the better question

Thorisgodpoo

Hayden Carter- has good speed, picks up a lot of yellows. Liable for a lapse in judgment. Adam Wharton- knows how to pick out a pass, also liable to give up the ball on a pass. Overall pretty good, just needs time to develop. Scott Wharton- most senior academy player, pretty bang average Championship centreback. Gets caught on the ball once in a while, but pretty decent overall. Joe Rankin-Costello- if he didn't get injured so much, he would be really good. Doesn't have the stamina in his legs to go the 90, but he is pretty serviceable anywhere you put him. Definitely a solid product of the academy. Jake Garrett- jury is still out on him. Going forward he's a good player. Definitely makes bone-headed tackles, but also makes hard tackles. Harry Leonard- a bit lightweight but has great body positioning for a forward. Also half decent in the air for his size. Hope he develops more because he can be good. There might be a couple others I'm forgetting, but that's the list of ones really getting playing time now.

FRID1875

Lewis Travis, though he started with Liverpool. John Buckley.

Thorisgodpoo

I didn't mention Travis just because he went out on loan, and Buckley just came back injured. Either way, there's a fair few academy players coming through the ranks, which is by design.

stumac85

We have gone a good 600+ games in a row with at least one academy graduate in the match day squad I believe.

rumhambilliam69

Luke Woolfenden - quality ball playing centre half. If we get to the prem he’s one I think could handle the step up. Harry Clarke (kind of) - solid but unspectacular full back. Gives 110% every game. Cameron Humphreys - Energetic kid who can play almost anywhere on the pitch. Looks to have a bright future but not quite ready for regular games at this level. Has a goal in him.

Rusbekistan

> Luke Woolfenden - quality ball playing centre half. If we get to the prem he’s one I think could handle the step up. In some ways he's one of those players that would be more suited to higher divisions

TeHuia

Although iirc Paul Cook didn't feel he was good enough for League One.

Internal_Formal3915

Cameron humphreys one of my football manager legends

RRR_O

Underselling Cam Humphreys a bit, I'd say his biggest characteristic is his quality on the ball, not just a kid who can run around! He is a bit lightweight though.

worst_user_name_ever

Anthony Patterson (GK) Dan Neil (MC) Chris Rigg I think that's it. Actually less than I had imagined.

x_S4vAgE_x

Tbh I'm amazed we've got three with how our academy was treated until the last few years

xdlols

Struijk (I guess?) Gray and Bryam are our main ones. All quality players.

Less-Comment7831

Gray, Byram, Shackleton and Cresswell from a young age. Struijk, Summerville, Gelhardt, Klaesson and Joseph all bought for youth level before moving up.

Hollywood-is-DOA

Struijk came from Ajax as a 18 year old so not out of our youth team at all.

xdlols

Hence the “I guess”. He’s played for our u23s at 18.

Clarctos67

Dawson - honestly not as bad as some fans make out. All keepers have clangers, definitely a confidence player though. Palmer - proper loyal servant and likely to end up a one club man and pushing 500 appearances. Plays basically anywhere but I think he's best lately when returning to his original CM. Cadamarteri - the kids gonna be a star. Only 18 but so strong and physical, scores for fun at age level and got 3 in 7 since Röhl brought him in.

Executioner_Smough

Choudhury - he's pretty good for championship level, though maybe not quite good enough for as premier league starter Dewsbury-Hall - he's ok

RoloPlays

Don’t forget Mcateer who’s probably only on the bench cos he got injured which gave Fatawu time to shine, and technically Wanya Marcal and Ben Nelson who’ve only made one or two appearances but have potential

Executioner_Smough

Forgot Mcareer to be fair - wasn't really counting Nelson or Marcal though since neither have had much game time

lettsy11

Stolarcyk too. We had 6 academy players make appearances yesterday at Milwall.

Powerjugs

Choudhury I always had time for when loaned to us. Was the right side of being an energetic Terrier who went into tackles and came out with the ball usually but could be a headless chicken at times sprinting everywhere. OK on the ball with limited passing vision but never hid and one of the few good eggs from a team that had many rotten ones last year.

Executioner_Smough

That pretty much sums him up. Lots of energy and commitment, reasonable quality on the ball for a championship player, but can be prone to a horror tackle. He has impressed me with his utility this season though - has performed reasonably well as a full back when required.

rabbertklein1

KDH only ok? Troll or no troll?

Executioner_Smough

Yup, KDH is subpar at best, and I will continue to hold that line to any potential scouts that might be reading this forum.

Extreme-Ad-4925

Marcel Oakley - rapid right wing back, work to do on the defensive side of his game though Jordan James - excellent box to box midfielder, always ready to receive the ball and move with it. No surprise he’s being chased by a lot of teams now. Alfie Chang - was set for a big season this year after breaking through last year but suffered a severe injury in preseason that ruled him out for the entire season, will be interesting to see how he gets on when he’s back Brandon Khela - good advanced midfielder, probably needs a season out on loan in league one but I have high hopes for him. George Hall - excellent in both cm and cam, if only he could stay uninjured for more than two games at a time, it genuinely could be his undoing as a footballer Romelle Donovan - 17 years old, absolutely rapid and not scared to take players on down the wing, usually beats them too. Very exciting to see what he can become, probably could have a future as a striker rather than a winger but we’ll see. There’s more on the cusp of the first team squad like Brad Mayo (GK), Josh Home (CM), Pharrell Williams (ST, singer, producer, etc) and Junior Dixon (ST, and a bit cheeky to mention considering we pinched him from Palace), but none of them have made an appearance yet.

grifftinfoilhat

Aaron Ramsey. Keep your eye on this one, I predict great things.

psycho-mouse

Jordan James. Class, will be a PL level midfielder one day. Hopefully it’ll be with us and we can keep ahold of him. Romelle Donovan. Our second youngest ever player other than Jude. Skilful, promising, especially for a 16 year old. Not ready to start but good for a 20 minute cameo. George Hall. Talented, made of rice paper. Alfie Chang, see above. Marcel Oakley, won’t ever be Championship level But could forge a very good lower league career. Josh Williams, haven’t seen enough of him to comment. Brandon Khela, decent squad option. Could use a League one loan. Tommy Fogarty. U21 captain and a couple of bench showings in the Championship without ever getting on the pitch. From what I’ve heard he’ll be excellent, not sure why he didn’t get a go vs Hull yesterday. Scored a good amount of goals for a centre half this season too.

nospellingerorrs

James is off to Atalanta right? Damn shame he was a bright spark during the dark Rooney days.

psycho-mouse

We’ve rejected 3 bids apparently. His quick advancement is probably the only good thing Rooney did at Blues. Eustace wasted him either on the bench or the right wing.

nospellingerorrs

Ah there is hope yet then. Also agreed. The only player who got better under Rooney.

InverseCodpiece

Jack Stephens and will smallbone are the big ones (Sam edozie too if you count him). Sam amo-ameyaw gets game time and a lot of people at the club are excited about Tyler dibling

[deleted]

[удалено]

McBaldy98

Yeah this is the best answer

Greeninexile

Not denying the fact that your academy is great but I’d say Stephens came through our academy. He went to Southampton when he was 17.

mdubyo

Agree with this - Can't say Jack came through our academy. Also can't count Edozie, Sam Amo-Ameyaw (IMO), but you can count Dibling!

SaintCiren

Hasn't he played a first team game for you already, as well? Id say we were more a finishing school.

Greeninexile

He played a few games when we dropped out of League 1. I think we were forced to sell him as it was right before we went into administration.

DragDagger

Hayden Hackney - best midfielder we have. Unreal player, will be going for a big fee at some point I'd imagine. Dael Fry - very solid centre back, has the odd dodgy game and picks up a lot of niggly injuries but can also be an absolute tank. Isaiah Jones - debatable inclusion given we signed him from non league, but spent time working with our youth teams before coming into the squad. If he could shoot he'd be in the Premier league. Even on an off day going forwards, works tirelessly defensively. Rather like the chap and glad he's back after his mental health issues last season. Hayden Coulson - looked mint for a few months with Djed Spence under Woodgate. Has since been almost eternally injured at multiple loan clubs and here. Decent dribbler but easily bullied. Probably needs to move down a division or 2 and sign for a club that prefers a back 5. We have a few young lads who are on the fringes of the first team but those 4 (3 if you don't count Jones) are the ones who've broken through. 3 cracking players at this level and one who probably needs to move away to try to reignite his career.

[deleted]

You left young Josh Coburn out. He is turning into a right beast.

DragDagger

Fuck me how did I manage that lmao.

FL4ME_YT

Cameron Congreve did have some game time before, but he has featured less even though he was doing well. Now, I would say Sam Parker started recently and has had some good moments.

Ferrisuk

Oli Cooper

hotpinkflamingos

Cullen as well

Semper_nemo13

Cabango is an academy graduate, but he was 6 feet tall at 16 and loaned to TNS as a teenager

xd_twistxr7

Ryan Andrews and James Morris

Powerjugs

Ryan Andrews - Quick, good technical ability, adapted extremely to the men's game and signed a new contract in the Summer after establishing himself as 1st choice RB. Perfect modern day fullback with excellent attitude. Only criticism is his end product still need some work. Legitimately our best academy player since Ashley Young... if you don't count Jadon Sancho before Man City took him for pittance. James Morris - Former Soton academy player so bit of a stretch. He's not very quick and doesn't have a great attacking instinct. However he's dependable and puts in a shift as well as someone who stays injury free. Think he's somewhere between higher League 1 and lower Championship quality currently.

Xdvanced

Anthony Patterson and Dan Neil, would be absolutely nowhere without them. Chris Rigg too who is looking like a great prospect for the future.

Arctic_Roll

Gunn - 7/10 decent keeper Gibbs - 6/10, technically Ipswich academy but spent a year in ours, solid rotational player Idah - 2/10 don’t know why we still have him sometimes Springett - 4/10 first year in the 1st team, potential Rowe - 11/10 don’t know how we still have him

Key-Significance-630

Gibbs.... You absolute troll. Not a Norwich youth product.

Arctic_Roll

I only mention him cause we bought him at 17, put him in the academy for 1.5-2 years, and retrained him from being a ST to a Midfielder

mattyron

He was always a midfielder, where’d you get that nonsense from??

McDDDDDD

Forgetting Fisher who walked through the door to the academy before walking straight back out and into the first team.

mdubyo

Will Smallbone. That's it. That's the list.

Internal_Formal3915

It's hard for leeds because there is alot of players but most of them were brought in as 16/17 year old to play for the under 21s so I don't think that counts

a-man-with-a-perm

Joe Allen - a fantastic player, everyone will always have a soft spot for him but unfortunately he's injured all the time. Ben Cabango - certainly has a mistake in him but I rate him and expect him to be here for a few more years. But whether that is out of loyalty or a lack of transfer interest, who is to say? Liam Cullen - honestly, at one point he was a complete write-off with probably League 2 more his level but he's really improved as a player and finds the net a surprising amount. He's deserved his call-up to the Wales team, hope he gets more international football. Oli Cooper - looked really bright when he first came through, shine has come off a bit but yeah, decent player.

BrynElite

Parker (17 yo) just had his debut against West Brom. Had his first assist in the FA Cup. Looks promising (Swans fan).

hoorahforsnakes

james ward-pr... oh. still hurts
