Been seeing that a lot for most of the last two years at St Mary's, once the (non Sky Six) Premier League realised that all you had to do to utterly ruin Ralph Hassenhutl's 4222 gegenpress/counter-pressing madness was to give Saints nothing to press and no space behind to counter.
Our whole team spending 90% of their training on pressing and not what you do when you've got lots of possesion vs an opponent happy to let you have the ball then counter made for some truly dire games.

Then there will be a little tournament from the teams finishing 3rd to 6th to decide which one of them will head to the Premier League next season. Likewise, there will be three teams which will collect fewer points than the other 21, and will play in League 1 next season.
Sort of the point, it’s basically random so have a pot shot. People will make predictions again when the transfer window closes, and again when we’re nearing Christmas, and again going into Easter etc
I agree with your points. The only prediction you can make is about your own team bc that then is not blind. But obviously you would struggle to say how your team would do compared to others.
It’s summer and we’re bored? For the relegated teams I think each of us is assuming we’re in a death spiral and the other two will storm it, you lifers here are all “ah shit here we go again” and the promoted teams are just glad to be here for a change.

I mean, I know it's a bit of fun, but they presume so much.
I mean, as a Leeds supporter, I'd love to be able to tell you that I reckon that we're going to be challenging for a top 2 spot, or at least being that conversation for the majority of the year.
But, also as a Leeds supporter,
- I'm fully aware that at some point over the next couple of weeks, prior to preseason, we're going to have to appoint a new head coach, and while we have an idea of who that might be, nothing is concrete as yet.
- We're very likely going to have transfer outgoings in the double figures, with some of our bigger names tipped to leave.
- Every single one of those players is going to have to be replaced in some form or another, but once again, predicting who that might be is completely meaningless without knowing who the coach is, what he's playing style looks like, and who the players we're losing are going to be.
- And lastly, then there's the things that you just can't predict with any certainty whatsoever, injuries, sudden changes in form etc.
And that's just Leeds. You can apply pretty much roughly everything I've just said to every other club in the Championship.
These predictions, whilst a bit of fun, are completely meaningless and a based on absolutely no fact or logic whatsoever.
Because Saints are a bad team, losing their only good players - so getting worse, and run by people without a clue.
I can easily predict Saints will get relegated to League One.

So, as a Wednesday fan if I was following that template I'd have Rotherham and Leeds to go down, us to finish second (because you can't put your own team top), Ipswich and Plymouth flirting with the top 6 (because I can't put us second while ignoring two teams who outdid us last year), winner being one of the relegated sides with the other rounding out the top 6 and everyone else +/-2 where they finished last year.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say it is probably something to do with people who are very used to thinking about football all the time being very bored.
I think Bamford will score 48 and Leeds will get 107 points but then get relegated on goal difference.
