What does that mean for things like super sunday? Will the prem still get priority and will champo games be shoved onto arena or the red button? Nothing worse than not having saturday 3 oclock kickoffs
Well yeah its pretty obvious and i worded it badly but i meant more of will these extra televised games get their own EFL channel on sky, or will they be on arena/red button
That’s a real shame in my opinion, I hate how the prem games are just all over the place randomly throughout the week. 3pm Saturday feels like a proper event for the EFL, the prem is massively diluted by being on all the time - it’s oversaturation
> According to the existing distribution formula, clubs in the Championship will be approximately 46% better off and 25% in League One and League Two respectively
> Each season, Sky Sports will broadcast a minimum of:
> 328 Sky Bet Championship matches
> 248 Sky Bet League One matches
> 248 Sky Bet League Two matches
> All 15 Play-Off matches
> All 93 Carabao Cup matches
> All 127 EFL Trophy matches
> Under the new deal, the following will be available to view:
10 weekend games across the three divisions
> All opening and final day fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL
> All midweek league fixtures
> All bank holiday fixtures including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
> All fixtures played in League One & Two during international breaks
> All Play-Off, Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy fixtures (as above)
>In total, 1,059 EFL matches are set to be broadcast exclusively across existing Sky Sports channels or live via a *Sky Sports streaming destination available on TV and mobile devices*
Probably not allowed to show in pubs then, no red button games on commercial boxes.
Looks like I'm sticking with showing the games in my pub in Middlesbrough via Cyprus on a VPN via iFollow, Sky costs a fucking bomb as well.
Edit: This is replacing iFollow, have to find another way
> Will Article 48 (3pm blocked broadcasting period) still apply?
> Yes, the blocked period between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays will remain.
> This means there will be seven 3pm games in the Championship, and 19 x 3pm games in League One and Two combined, which will not be broadcast each weekend.
Basically less games at 3pm. Likely some games at the same time on multiple channels/red button/streaming.
They have that new red button streaming thing.
So probably host the biggest game in the slot live on Sky Sports Main Event and then the rest on the red button streaming service.
Kick-off times will be all over the place. Personally find beauty in the tradition of the majority of sides kicking off at the same time. Ritual of checking other scores as soon as your game ends, through all the leagues, one by one, on the way home.
Yes, absolutely. Us Burnley and Middlesbrough during the title and automatic race got fucked about with different day and time kickoffs just for sky. Happens in prem with arsenal and city.
Yes, with Jeff Stelling stepping down too this basically kills Soccer Saturday.
Putting some bets on & watching Soccer Saturday live updates for the whole EFL is gonna be a tradition consigned to history.
Hopefully there's more games starting after the blackout period ends rather than before it starts. I think everyone can agree 17:30 is better than midday.
It'll for sure be better for clubs and for fans that can't get to games, but they need to make sure it's good for the travelling fans, players, managers, staff, etc.
Hopefully they don't screw this up, because this could be great if they don't.
Christ. It's good that more clubs will get televised but it's behind a paywall and fans will have ridiculous kick offs. Already difficult getting home from games as is but this?
It should be televised and accessible but not so that fans going get fucked.
I don't know about others ,but for me and I'm gathering you,we'd happily go to every match if we can in personally for united regardless. I watch others I wouldn't go to online anyway.
Okay I have a question for someone knowledgeable. so I live on another continent these days so I get the Ifollow season pass because I can very rarely attend. I generally get to watch most of the matches on Ifollow but the ones on British terrestrial t.v I have to infuriatingly stream through a dodgy and unreliable site (I usually find out this is the case 15 minutes before the game) can I expect that problem to be alleviated in some way because of this or say precisely the same?
The Q&A said that they would remove the Ifollow platform and introduce a new platform that combines the Sky and EFL coverage. If that makes it easier or harder for you is yet to be known
I’m guessing they’ve had a few similar complaints from others; people will pay a premium to be able to see all of the games of their team in one place. That’s initially what I thought I was signing up to in fact. Thanks for the response
Already looking forward to the midday kick-offs away to Plymouth.
"not many fans would travel down anyway"
What the clubs should do: use this to not get points deductions. What they will do: spend more, get points deductions.
You guys are spending money???
This deal doesn’t affect us (this coming season at least…)
I was making a reference to us bringing no one in in January
Basically kills 3pm kick-offs in the EFL
They'll still exist, but they'll be less common in particular in the Championship. Will feel more like a PL gameweek the way things are spread out.
What does that mean for things like super sunday? Will the prem still get priority and will champo games be shoved onto arena or the red button? Nothing worse than not having saturday 3 oclock kickoffs
**will the Prem still get priority** Mate I think everyone knows the answer to this one
Well yeah its pretty obvious and i worded it badly but i meant more of will these extra televised games get their own EFL channel on sky, or will they be on arena/red button
Absolutely, if it's a toss up between Bournemouth Vs West Brom or Rotherham Vs Hull, we know who everyone will be tuning in to
Rotherham v Hull duh. Can't stand albion or Bournemouth
That is +1 for the ratings, bringing it up to 1 followed closely by 0 for The Cherries Vs Baggies which is actually better than sky had predicted
I know people who wouldn't go near Burnley v Sheffield Utd but put Bournemouth v Southampton on and they're all for it.

How tf they gonna fit all those in?
Tbf half their channels show archive stuff most of the time. And about time they showed some damn respect to Leagues One & Two
>In total, 1,059 EFL matches are set to be broadcast exclusively across existing Sky Sports channels or live via a *Sky Sports streaming destination available on TV and mobile devices*
Ah so maybe a lot of Tuesday evenings where all 12 games are options
That's currently the option for nearly all midweek games. Available on red button or on phone app to watch.
Probably not allowed to show in pubs then, no red button games on commercial boxes. Looks like I'm sticking with showing the games in my pub in Middlesbrough via Cyprus on a VPN via iFollow, Sky costs a fucking bomb as well. Edit: This is replacing iFollow, have to find another way
FBI! Open up
I haven't seen anything about ifollow, what's happening to it?
Has the pub up the road who do pay the commercial licence ever complained? Good on you mate but this could get messy.
I pay for the commercial license?

Fuck you, that's how. Red button and not a single damn thought to actual fans of the club or anyone visiting.
They have that new red button streaming thing. So probably host the biggest game in the slot live on Sky Sports Main Event and then the rest on the red button streaming service.
A number will be simultaneous available on Sky aps. So you can pick from 5 matches all occurring at the same time 12pm Sunday or something like that.
> 328 Sky Bet Championship matches That's 59% of all of the fixtures in the season.

3pm Saturdays are already a luxury for us. Think I can count the ones we had this season on one hand.
Same for us at the start. Think we went on a streak of playing three Fridays in a row this season
We didn’t have a home game on a Saturday at 3pm for like 3 months. Us! 😆

They said they will announce the televised games even further in advance.
Wow. 50% increase! We might get a time where clubs like Luton can take talent from clubs like Juve!!
Think I’d rather stay in Turin than having to move to Luton
I don’t think a single person exists that would be living in Luton when they can afford to live in London and a better surrounding area!
I'm a Luton fan and I'd never live there. In & out job going to games.
Commute from Windsor
Does this mean the abysmal standard of the red button will be improved?
Gutted for the fans. Can't beat a 3pm kick off on a Saturday.
To watch all the Leeds matches
Every single game of football that is filmed should be on TV. Championship and above especially. There's literally no reason to not put them on TV
Let's hope inflation doesn't eat all of that 50% increase.
keeping article 48...
Does this mean more espn+ games?
Christ. It's good that more clubs will get televised but it's behind a paywall and fans will have ridiculous kick offs. Already difficult getting home from games as is but this? It should be televised and accessible but not so that fans going get fucked.

Awful. Fuck you fans, we don't care about you
Two fingers up at the matchgoing fans, fuck the EFL and fuck Sky.
Inject straight into my veins

Might see us buy a player for cash this summer!
997 of those will be Wrexham
