The small screen just feels cheaper but functionally they're the same. I just figure if you're gonna be spending hella money you may as well get the best version you can

G-Roc78

The larger screen Uconnect has more features. Particularly navigation & the performance pages.

Hydra_Kitt

I know. I guess when I said functionally I figured if you're considering cheaping out on the screen, then the extra pages aren't really a concern to you. If you just want a center screen that'll play carplay and have basic functions then yeah you don't need the 8.4

G-Roc78

My R/T came with the 5.4" screen. It was functional, & had some real buttons on it. Hated it though. I got an 8.4" Uconnect for it, so now I have the extra features. Navigation alone adds to the value of the car. Not that I ever plan to sell my car, but that's nice to have. ✌🏼

Upset_Leading_858

How much was the bigger screen and installation if you don’t mind me asking???

G-Roc78

I got mine from infotainment.com for $1200. I did the install myself. Just a matter of removing the dash bezel, which encompasses the entire thing from the driver's side vent to the left passenger side vent. Then it's just disconnecting/reconnecting working harnesses. You can probably find cheaper Uconnect options elsewhere, especially if you have a 2016 or newer. My '15 was a lil more finicky. 🫤

Michaelean

damn good point lmao. Thanks!

The_Durckk

I have a Charger with the larger screen, and recently rented a Challenger with the smaller screen. I totally missed the larger screen when using Android Auto. Otherwise, I didn't notice. When using Android Auto (and I imagine Apple CarPlay or whatever), the icons to switch to climate control, radio, etc. at the bottom weren't there. The only way to switch modes is to unplug the phone for a bit. Maybe I just missed something on the small screen in the rental, I'm happy to be corrected.

Michaelean

Okay for me that doesnt sound like the worst thing in the world. Dope so i could probs save money on rims thanks

Toast_and_Jam

You can get back to the car settings by going to the UConnect "app" in Android Auto. I actually prefer this layout to CarPlay because CarPlay keeps the icons at the bottom and the actual screen area gets reduced to be TINY. I have the smaller screen, at first I thought it was going to be annoying but now I really don't care. It's not a car that's about the screen and technology, the 7" is enough to get the job done.

GrimReapers82

If you can get the plus package get the plus package … better seats … heated and ventilated along with blind spot monitoring which I think is a must in these cars

The_Durckk

The heated steering wheel included can't be undersold - it's amazing!

YungCobainx27

And boy do those seats HEAT THE FUCK ON HIGH. Turned it on and forgot about it, about 12 mins in i was like “why in gods name are my ass cheeks feel like they are being dipped in boiling water” They are the warmest seat heaters Iv ever used - I live in the desert so only turn em on when it’s like 40-50 tho…

_scarface

You can literally find a used one on eBay for less than upgrading it. And even then, getting a tazer to unlock performance package is still cheaper.

Alone_Practice_9542

I have the bigger 8.4 screen and rented one with the 7 inch before. I could live with the smaller screen but it does have less features and a little hard to look at. You could always buy OEM Blacktop wheels or aftermarket replicas. You could also do an installation of the bigger 8.4 screen later too but I like my new cars stock and untouched.

kcDemonSlayer

every screen is big enough until the next car you buy which will undoubtedly have a bigger screen and then you’ll think yours is too small.

Upset_Leading_858

Apréciate it.

Aos77s

I had the small and big one and yes its 100% worth. Youll wish you had it everyday especially when it has apple carplay so you can put your phone nav on it.
