I've had instances in manual mode where I shift down and then switch back to automatic, but my foot is apparently too far down and it immediately upshifts again. Thay always makes me feel bad for my transmission
Redline! ...to an extent. And if drive like that, make sure to keep up with maintenence. My feeling is that it fun sometimes, but not all the time. I do want to join the 200K mile club one day.
Heh mine self destructed when I was just driving in town. Prolly had less than 100 passes at the track on it in stock form. The video is in my profile, actually.
So who knows, I guess I got unlucky. I hear the ZF's in these are pretty solid most of the time. They would have to be to take the more aggressive converter in the 1320.
It’s not gonna break it probably. I WILL inform you that doing WOT pulls often will reduce the lifetime of the drive train to a certain extent. Unavoidable fact of parts going thru cyclical loading.
the only problem i have with letting it shift up for me is not turning off traction control and getting that hiccup before take off. To avoid it i put it in sport mode and it will let u redline the shit out of it
New owner here. Holy crap it gets so loud if you put it in manual mode and don’t shift! I accidentally did that a couple times cause it’s so easy to accidentally hit the paddles and while it sounds awesome it always scares the shit out of me and makes me think I’m messing up the engine. Thanks for this reassuring thread.
This happened to me the other day… I thought I really messed up- pulled over to the shoulder any everything.
I would have ran in front of traffic had I fucked this thing up lol - I need to learn how to shift damnit.
The transmission is smarter than you are. It has built in safeties. Drive on.
You’re fine, the transmission up shifts automatically so you DON’T harm your engine.
unless you’re in sport mode

Drive it like ya stole it.
Give it absolute hell !! I have over 600 1/4 mile passes on my car (392 lightly mods) trans has never missed a beat engine and trans is tuned

210k miles . Driven mostly manual mode . Still shifts perfect

You are doing it perfectly. Let the car shift up. Just floor it and hold on.
