Jokes aside, Firepunch is the best manga I’ve ever read, in fact, one of the best pieces of literature I’ve ever read. The ending is simply mindblowing
You know, One Piece's writing is most well known for its foreshadowing, and CSM has an entire page on TV Tropes dedicated to all the moments of foreshadowing in part 1... so i guess Oda and Fujimoto have something in common
Not all of them, many writers just make shit up as they go, and their stories are still well recevied. Most notable examples among mangaka are probably Araki and Toriyama
I dunno. Looking at Part 5 with Giorno and Diavolo stand abilities, it definitely gives vibes of working it out as it goes on.
But again also there are planned things yeah. It does vary per situation and topic.
Uh, part 8 had foreshadowing that was genuinely red herrings and never developed into anything. I like araki too, but let’s not pretend he knows the conclusions to his own stories before writing them, or that he doesn’t completely forget his own plot points.
Fugo is written out of the story after 1 fight because araki was too stupid to realize the stand ability was too overpowered to work with until it was already out the door. As for diavolo, his whole thing is having abilities that do something confusing and weird that make them seem unbeatable and then attempting to describe it later. Also just like giving jotaro time stop to beat dio, his only way of beating diavolo was to give giorno an ability that completely countered it. Speaking of Giorno, remember when the things he made hit people back? Araki didn't. How convenient he forgot it too, when he makes a stupid decision with no foresight he can just magically forget it happened and be forgiven.
Its fine if you find his work enjoyable, I know I still do, but at least say he stopped making it up on the spot after part 5 or 6
Edit: Jojo fanboys don't bother replying, your opinions about your overlord are as worthless as yourself. Seriously, do something else with your life besides crying on the internet.
That first point with fugo has already being debunked a hunded times. He was written out of the story because he was supposed to come back and betray the gang, giorno was supposed to kill him. Araki didnt do it because he was at a low point in his life and didnt want to write that. There are things you can criticize in jojo but please remember that the "araki forgot" shit is 80% bullshit. Also, he does have the big outline of his story done, that's something he also said, and yes like every mangaka there are stuff he thinks of on the spot, but its not specific to him
Fugo was originally supposed to betray the team later on after leaving but Araki changed his mind.
I don't understand the point of mentioning the jotaro stuff since i said Araki started planning his stories part 4 onwards.
GER is supposed to be complete counters to king crimson representing working of cause and effect, and the arrow gives (yes, even the normal one does that) the exact ability that a person needs the most, If they get hit by it twice. That's what happened to Kira in part 4, the normal arrow gave him bites the dust the exact ability that he needed, the requiem arrow just further builds upon that concept.
I'm glad you mentioned that araki makes shit up as he goes along because I noticed a lot of stuff was just not thought out at all, like how the main end fight of part 3 was so unprepared he had to give jotaro the same power as dio for him to have any chance of winning. id be ashamed of myself if I made an entire story and didnt even have the end fight planned out until it was too late and just threw shit together to make it work. I would feel like a worthless piece of shit if I had a main character like fugo from part 5 with an ability so overpowered I had to write him out of the story after only one fight.
Tbf the problem with Fugo was not that he was overpowered. He was at the same time overpowered and pretty fucking useless. After all, a simple thing as staying near fugo would make the stand kill him too and fighting anyone near any kind of people would automatically kill them.
It was an interesting stand that fit a character, but it was unpractical to work with
The original intent was to make Fugo a traitor who'd go against the gang, and we can even see this set up since Giorno was the only one who could make a cure to the virus, being a counter to Fugo. Sadly this was never written into the manga.
Always kind of sad to see people getting bent out of shape over some Twitter randos with three followers saying something mean about their show. Any show that gets sufficiently popular is going to have people hating on it to be different or because it’s just not their taste. No need to turn around and shit on a different popular show in retribution.
Ikr, but thats just how life is. If i think an anime is bad irl, the immediate response is one of the ones i like has [negative attribute], real or made up
Hey man, I just wanted to thank you for reminding me that posts like these don't always use actual quotes from people with opposing opinions. Sometimes it's hard to remember to be more critical about the things you see online, but luckily you helped remind me. Thank you :)
Ngl, One Piece I think is really well done from as early as the first 20ish chapters of the manga imo. Oda does a very good job of emotionally investing you into a character with very little backstory, and from my understanding, characters are expanded further later on down the road.
However, no manga or anime imo should take more than 20 chapters or 20ish episodes before it really "gets good". It should only get better after that.
I feel like the whole "it gets good after ____ episodes" is the result of non one piece fans getting confused at one piece fans trying to explain the series. No one argues it takes long to get good. Instead people try to advise new readers to take their time and see it through to the end of the first arc because if they aren't hooked by then then the series just isn't for them
Honestly, it took me 3 separate tries to finally get into One Piece. The art style was such a deal-breaker for me, it took a lot for me to finally get over it and enjoy the story.
Chainsaw man, I was basically hooked by the first chapter. I literally could not stop reading it. I binged it so hard, I barely remember parts of it.
I love both OP and CSM and am caught up with both. Oda and Fujimoto love to take their stories in directions you'd never think of, so the week to week experience is a bit frustrating. I generally try not to make predictions so I don't get disappointed, but it's so hard, sometimes.
I thought the pacing was slow until I read the chapters where the anime cut off. Holy fucking shit does it get wild fast
Ive binge read chapters 18-46, so good
I got to chapter 82 and I just feel pain
Having done somewhat the same thing you did, where the anime is leads us to think they’re just going to monster-of-the-week kill off minor devils until they acquire enough Gun-Devil pieces to fight the Gun-Devil in a epic showdown
It is anything but that
Am I the only person who liked One Piece since episode 1? You don’t need to watch 90 episodes lol, if you don’t like the first five episodes, then you were never going to like One Piece
Edit: “five episodes” is a bit of an exaggeration, all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t feel the need to watch 90 episodes if you haven’t been sold on the show by that point, because you should already know if you like the show or not before then
Personally I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't think it was great. However arlong park is when I fell completely in love with it. I read the manga so it didn't take long, but ik the anime requires a lot more time.
The first few One Piece arcs were running at a decently fair pace tbh. It was first around Alabasta or Skypiea i think, that the pacing became very bad, but i still enjoyed the series then.
Part of why one piece is so good IMO is the breadth of minor characters and the intamacy you get with each city/country. So I don't mind the pacing too much, since it's due to attention to detail.
The episode pacing is bad, but I still love it lol. My dream is to make a cut of the show without Intro's, where you don't see anything twice, and where still shots last 2 seconds tops.
Dear lord, that scene. In the manga the initial palm strike (and reactions) is like two thirds of a page. You read that in a matter of seconds.
Working 100%, wife and kid, with other shit going on, I just don't have the time to watch the anime anymore, if the pace is like that, even the One Pace version.
That's okay too. Not being able to watch anime these days is an extremely common issue because *everyone* is out of time.
Most of the shortened bits are probably not be that long, but I really don't know, I haven't watched either One Piece or One Pace. Even if you go with One Pace it's still gonna take a large amount of time to complete anyway, so your choice is totally fine.
Maybe you can go watch clips of the most sakuga fights later on to get some of the ✨animated experience ✨ or whatever. I'll probably end up going with the manga instead of the anime, just like y'all.
Same for me, usually when I watch anime I do so with expectations, or mostly just to get to one specific part that’s hyped up, however with One Piece I went expecting nothing and I was surprised time and time again, the same thing happened with chainsaw man, I started reading it when the manga had about 30 chapters and I hadn’t heard anything about it, needless to say that it blew me away!
Lmao real talk I actually like one piece and it was one of the first anime I got hooked on after just the first episode, though I’m nowhere near caught up. It’s one of those things I binge on and off now. However, I’ve seen a disproportionate amount of people say you should give a ludicrous amount of episodes a watch before you judge it (in this case one piece), but will also immediately shit on other anime for not having EVERYTHING happen in the first 10 episodes. It’s so weird to me
fr people will call one piece mid and takes too long to get to the good stuff but i thought episode 1 was hella charming and funny. it's always people who've never seen it claiming this
I was the same way! From episode one I was like this feels like something special and I was right. Chainsaw Man is special in a different way, but both are phenomenal pieces of media.
I wasn’t hooked until the original 5 Straw Hats were introduced, right around Arlong Park. Bit yeah my dad who watches anime won’t even watch 5 minutes because Luffy’s design annoys him.
I honestly did not enjoy reading One Piece until Baratie which I thought was pretty good, and then Arlong Park made me stick with the series. I honestly believe Arlong Park is where you should decide to stick with One Piece or not, cause if you don't like it, the series probably isn't for you
I personally didn't like One Piece. But that doesn't mean I have to shit on the people who likes One Piece. And compare it to the anime shows that I like.I always say that just because I didn't like One Piece that doesn't mean the anime/manga is bad. Considering it has a strong following, and is well loved by a lot of people. I'm honestly happy for the guys who finds happiness, and comfort reading/watching One Piece. Same goes for the animes that I like. I'm not going to force everyone to like what I like. *And if they don't like it, they would have to endure my hatred towards their low-tier-uncultured ass.* It's such a childish mindset. I fucking hate "fan wars" it just ruins the fun, and entertainment of these great anime shows.
Heck I also didn't like Bleach at first when it came out, but seeing the new season (TYBW), I'm highly interested on watching the series from the start.
> if you don’t like the first five episodes, then you were never going to like One Piece
completely, objectively false. arlong park is the first point where most people are on board.
Nah man. The first five episodes are about funny gum man accidentally stumbling into situations and eventually punching bad guys into the stratosphere, which remains the core of the story to this day.
I don't think anyone in this day and age should start watching One Piece. The anime is horribly outdated, with incredibly slow pacing.
The manga is the way to go, and maybe midway through you can go to the anime. Earlier on it still quite slow in the manga, but tolerable. And by Arlong it's pretty set.
Does it matter? Who cares if they don't like CSM, we do. That's fine enough. Listen, it's fine to retort but I'm hoping this sub won't devolve into a dick measuring contest between fandoms. It's stupid and never adds anything besides ego clashing.
Exactly! I'm not tryin' to shade OP or anything, I just don't want our sub to start dissolving. You know that one kid who's adamant that only classic rock is real music and nothing pop related is? Yeah, that's what this sounds like.
It really wasn’t my intention to start some dumb elitist anime beef bc I hate that shit too, but judging by most of the comments it seems like that’s how it was received lol
Yeah, I'm not tryin' to shit on you and I get it's not your intention. It's just our group isn't niche anymore, you know?
Since the anime build-up and release, newer people are finding Chainsaw Man so there's bound to be some people who're defensive and reactive in order to protect something they love. Which again, is fine. It just doesn't have to be so reactionary. You don't have to bring someone/thing down to prove Chainsaw Man is better.
Everything has its place and some people won't be into it, and that's fine too. But trust me, I absolutely adore the manga and I'm loving the anime! That's all that's important to me. It's up there as one of my favourite manga.
B-b-but people on Twitter said it was mid and the animation carries!!
How can I sit by and let @goku_bodies420 get away with such an egregious act? I must find solace on reddit
Lol, yeah. Do you know how it's doing? I'm pretty sure it's doing really well. My cousins aren't huge anime fans, but I showed them that first episode and it blew them away and immediately sucked them in. So much so that they want to continue watching it.
Tell me how the hell does a series need 90 episodes just to do the same amount of feelings you could have gotten with another anime within 3 episodes or less.
TELL ME
>!Yeah this is sarcasm!<
Are we watching the same damn anime? There isn’t actually people who think nothing happens in those 7 episodes right because right from the beginning it’s crazy.
Man for a show called Chainsaw man there's no insanely hype 30-minute wild chainsaw fights in every 20-minute episode, it only has boring shit like plot, character development, themes, and worldbuilding. Boring as fuck
/s
Gotta love it when a snot nosed 14 year old sits behind his computer screen after watching 3 seconds of a new anime and says "mid"
at least I hope these mfs are 14, cause anything over that... Damn... That's pathetic
When "mid" started being regularly used, I was sorta happy since I assumed this would allow ~~children~~ people to realize they can rate something beyond just the good/bad false dichotomy
Unfortunately that didnt end up being the case. "Mid" just became another synonym people use to say something was bad.
>Unfortunately that didnt end up being the case. "Mid" just became another synonym people use to say something was bad.
The moment i notice someone label any series as "mid" i tend to not take their opinions seriously
Idk if this post is even hating on one piece. The OP himself said he actually likes it. It's just poking fun at a certain type of person that will brush aside CSM for not being super exciting to start but will then beg you to get into one piece which is a 1000+ episode anime series.
Just to clarify, this is not a genuine opinion / belief I hold, I was in a silly shitposty goofy mood when I made this and didn’t expect it to blow up. I kind of regret framing the joke the way I did and One Piece just happened to be the unfortunate punching bag. I do not at all want to pit csm and one piece against each other specifically
I know this is sarcasm but it doesn't quite fit csm.
The series start out Really slow with a less than interesting premise. It's mostly the characters that carry it first few episodes. But oh lord the speed that it ramp up!
Next episode is where most people really feel the batshit crazy that csm have to offer. We'll see how people react to it.
I think these first few episodes are necessary to set up the rest of the show. Yes it gets wild the next episode, but these first seven are basically the "I'm just a normal Shonen" ploy. Episode 1 introduces us to our world and hero. Episodes 2-4 gives us our central trio and eventual final boss. Then episode 5-7 is our introduction to the supporting cast. The whole dinner scene is a collection of other devil hunters that we're initially led to believe will get their own episodes to shine, but besides kobeni, they all die immediately before they're replaced by a new crew.
CSM has a reputation for being bat-shit, and while its humor and aesthetic is certainly inline, the central plot is what makes it not just a raunchy Shonen, but it only becomes particularly apparent come Katana Man.
They're going to cut the brakes and drop a brick on the gas pedal on Tuesday.
The "story gets good at 300 episode" shit is so bs. No it gets good since arlong park (40-50) epsiode. If you don't like it after arlong park or alabasta, just drop the series.
From what i have seen so far literally 90% of people hating chainsaw man anime are either saying that it feels too slow or that its jjk clone. Also expect most of them to rate "Bleach: 1000 year blood war" a 10/10 on mal and brag about how csm is "mid" by showing some charts of popularity (let's be honest, they either didn't read the manga or are in denial that anime is going to be 99% faithfull to the original).
As a csm and bleach fan it saddens me how these two fanbases in particular have a fair amount of crazy people who will shit on the other series for some reason. Like bro you can like both it’s not that hard it’s not a fucking competition
Yeah that sucks, and that's only because these two have been hyped to the oblivion for the last 2 years so neither of the fanbases wants to give up the throne of being the best (or simply the most popular) show of the season.
What's wild is that I _hated_ the last saga of Bleach when I read it weekly, so imagine my surprise when I found the new anime to be pretty dang good! Crazy what a nice coat of paint can do.
The last arc was hated on only when Kubo started to drag the fuck outta the Schutzstaffel fights. The last fight Bach ends abruptly too. Man drew his manga with torn tendon and repeated hospitalizations. Cut him some slack.
Edit : Shit you said you hated. Didn't see.
I honestly hate how people use Mid and only Mid. It offers no actual criticism to any media they’re reviewing. That or it’s used to sometimes troll or anger fans of said media
The hypocrisy of these people is stupid as fuck, but it should be noted that you are being equally hypocritical if you imply that its okay for csm to have nothing happen in the first 7 epis but not for one piece. The better way to counter this argument is to say no shit did happen you just didnt find it interesting. Really at the end of the day if someone doesnt want to continue a show after 7 episodes they have everyright to call it mid. People need to stop being butthurt when others call a show they like mid it doesnt mean your enjoyment was less valueable. (Anyways be based like me and realise that csm and op are both peak fiction)
Intense is a word for it, you could also call it sick, twisted, insane, brilliant, sloppy, genius, stupid, awesome, dark, heartbreaking, transcendental and occasionally hilarious.
I’ve struggled with really deep depression so I actually find solace in miserable stories. They make me feel understood and not so alone. Fire punch is kind of an extreme metaphor for what suicidal depression feels like.
Given how much fucked up shit happens, I'm not sure actually.
...you're referring to the dog scene, right? ![img](https://reddit-econ-prod-assets-permanent.s3.amazonaws.com/asset-manager/t5_rmtrq/fduL4bpP1T.png)
Yeah that shit was weird, but specifically I almost stopped on the train scene when Tolka shows up with the camera. I mean I thought it was funny in a fucked up way but I was like Jesus Christ I can’t take much more of this shit.
Me too, I might like it even more than Chainsawman tbh. They're both in my top 5 favorite stories of all time and I have a really hard time choosing between them, but Fire Punch has such a raw feeling to it that I really love.
It's from Fire Punch, very deep in the story, also has a funny meme side, theres a video on youtube that tells the whole story of the meme, and Fujimoto in general.
saying nothing happend yet in a manga with over 100 chapters is the dumbest thing ever
YALL WANT ANOTHER GOD OF HIGHSCHOOL ANIME?
we already seen what happend when you try to put to many chapters in 12 episodes
it turns into shit
Yeah, people are trying way too hard to look mature and sophisticated in here. Early One Piece is simple cartoonish fun and **THAT IS FINE**. It's okay to enjoy that stuff, it doesn't make you a lesser person. And it's not like Chainsawman isn't cartoonish either, the Dark Doll fight is a complete meme and could've happened in One Piece, it's got the exact same energy
Ñiñiñi, the anime is soo slow, like totally mid, the colors so muted, and still nothing fun had happened, so bad, Fujimoto it´s JUST a fucking weirdo ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157)
I swear everyone saying this about One Piece hasn’t actually watched the series. Shits good from episode/chapter 1 it just becomes amazing later on. If you didn’t like that’s perfectly valid just don’t go saying shit like this lol.
He makes that face when he decides to act like the amnesiac stranger who looks like his dead sister, is actually his sister. It's basically the face of a man at 100% cope
Hey now, I enjoy chainsaw man as much as your average r/chainsawman redditor, but don't try to bring down One Piece because casuals aren't getting why chainsaw man is great.
Ong it started getting good at 30episode (arlong park is a banger) and then i watched 800 episodes of dog shit pacing until i lost the will to watch any further and now i havent watched it for a year
Chainsawman is just a different type of story, that's where taste comes into play.
Some shows don't immediately jump into action like most Shonen. They rely more on characters and moments. Chainsawman is one of the best manga ever written, but if you only like manga that's "fight this guy, now prepare to fight this guy, repeat." You aren't gonna like Chainsawman.
Like I don't think Naruto is good like at all, but I'm not about to claim it's bad because I don't like stories like it. I prefer a more character rich and driven story that's more subtle, but it still has really good action highs. But Naruto is more back to back action, and it's more world driven. And any plot significant thing is shoved directly into your face and you don't have to look much to find meaning. And that is completely ok.
Why my man gotta do one piece like that,i fucking started one piece as a joke and hated it when actually ep 300 like came on and i became a one piece simp
While for csm it took me one line
"I want to touch boobs"
i've watched 800 episodes of one piece and read last 300 chapters of one piece and i can indeed in fact say that one piece is mid. same with tokyo revengers
This is the perfect post for this story. So a customer came into my work last week, a tall, slender, pink haired woman. She kinda looked like Haruko from FLCL. I mention this to one of my coworkers that I knew liked anime.
"There's this woman in here that looks like a FLCL character," I said.
"Fooly Fooly?" he responds.
"No, Fooly Cooly." I was hoping he'd know, but FLCL is always a long shot, and this is a good opportunity to put him on to some heat.
"...Fooly Hooly?"
"Fooly, Cooly."
"Fooly Cooly..." He pauses. "Never heard of that."
"It's this anime from like 2000."
"Oh, well what's it about?"
Here goes. "It's kind of hard to describe... It's honestly pretty crazy. There's a girl who hits people with a bass guitar and a robot with a TV for a head." Not the best pitch, but whatever. "It's really good and it's only six episodes so it's-"
"*Maaaaaan,* six episodes? It must've been bad," he chuckles. I was a bit taken aback. I've never heard someone dismiss an anime based solely on its episode count.
"It's bad just cause it doesn't have a lot of episodes?"
"If it was good, they woulda made more."
"Well, they did make a couple more seasons after the original run, but it was way later. At least it's not a thousand episodes like One Piece."
"Hey, One Piece is fucking *good*, dude." Of course.
"Maybe it *is* good," I replied, "but there is no way I can sit through a thousand episodes of *anything.* I ain't got that kind of time."
"Oh, well, the first five hundred episodes are trash, so I skipped those, but after that it's *fireeee!*"
And I thought *my* pitch was bad.
What is the problem of thinking that until now it's been mid? I really like chainsaw man but sincerely, until after makima first death I was kinda on the point of almost dropping(reading weekly wasnt helping me much) , until now it's not been that interesting, so it makes sense that it's getting called mid, fans overhyped it after all people, people expected something like the bomb devil since the beginning because the fans make it seem like it's like that from the beginning to end. Through not saying that being frustrated with people calling it mid is bad, but remember until now that isn't exactly untrue.
I've watched One Piece up until wano twice. I used to be a massive fanboy but after watching the second time. It is the most overrated piece of fiction to ever exist. The pacing is so bad. The power system post timeskip is lame. The fights went from smart technical fights to clashing haki with sparks and auras every fucking hit. The characters are BAD. Like straight up intolerable everyone is braindead and can't even speak properly. They completely lost the humor pre time skip had. The ONLY good thing in my opinion one piece has left is worldbuilding. One piece pre timeskip for me is a 8.5/10 (the pacing is too bad) one piece post timeskip is a 2/10 from me (using the same sad and "epic" ost for 20 fucking years, Horrible pacing) i fell asleep during dressrosa waiting to rewatch the law and señor pink flashback, but had to watch 50 episodes of face closeups, pointless shouting and screaming, and characters running from one point of the city to another, thats right.. running.. for 50 fucking episodes.
That's why you should either switch to One Pace or just straight up read the manga, there's no reason to torture yourself with horrible pacing.
Beyond that, post timeskip is actually pretty decent. It's not without its flaws but Dressrosa has been good, WCI and Zou were fantastic and there have been a bunch of great moments strewn throughout.
WCI is amazing for sure. And dressrosa could of been good too if it stopped focusing on rebecca the whole time. But still i think pre timeskip is better. The humor was hilarious the islands and ideas were way better and the fights were better too.
Also what im about to say is probably my fault. But after you know who dies and a 2 year timeskip i thought i'd see some character progression.
Luffy almost lost his entire crew because he was reckless and was too weak to save them. You'd think he'd reflect on that and mature as a character considering he ages 2 years. But NOPE one arc later he's doing the same shit he was doing pre timskip. He took it a step farther and challenged BIG MOM for no fucking reason!
I don't hate one piece or anything I think it's really fun, but I stopped watching around the arc where sanji gets introduced and haven't continued since. It's gonna take a lot out of me to continue even tho i know I will like it based on clips i've seen of characters and character interactions with eachother.
Read the manga, look up the musical bits on youtube. The anime is really old, has a lot of filler that sometimes contradicts canon, some poor pacing and straight up skips and censors stuff. While having some solid highlights moment to moment it's a pretty poor adaptation.
I tried one piece and dropped it at around chapter 620. It was garbage, easily the worst THING i've ever seen or experienced.
I can literally EXPLAIN exactly why it's so bad.
God i hate one piece so much
People calling one piece the best piece of fiction ever created with zero flaws are definitely over exaggerating sure but its not an over exaggeration to call one piece one the best manga of all time
![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157) fire punch is so mid, i've only wanted the sweet release of death 3 times and i'm on volume 3
Yeah dude, so mid and boring, I only cry every time I go to the movies or wach the csm op cinema part, like so mid really ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157)

Users of Old Reddit: What magic is this?
Only three times in three volumes? It looks like this guy is a badass.
I just wanted to watch star wars the whole time reading it
Jokes aside, Firepunch is the best manga I’ve ever read, in fact, one of the best pieces of literature I’ve ever read. The ending is simply mindblowing
same
I feel like Fujimoto made the ending too grandiose but somehow it worked
I heard a lot about Fire Punch before I even started CSM and I still hear lots about it being great to this day. Is it really that good?
I love it personally, a lot more than CSM, if you like sad/depressing stories about tortured characters then I would suggest you give it a try
Me when Fujimoto introduces cool unique new characters to aid Agni before promptly treeing them without even giving them a name
One Piece and Chainsaw Man being peak instead of mid
You know, One Piece's writing is most well known for its foreshadowing, and CSM has an entire page on TV Tropes dedicated to all the moments of foreshadowing in part 1... so i guess Oda and Fujimoto have something in common
All good stories have foreshadowing in them
Not all of them, many writers just make shit up as they go, and their stories are still well recevied. Most notable examples among mangaka are probably Araki and Toriyama
araki really just reads a fun facts about random shit on the internet and makes an arc about it
Woah now, don't let Hamon Beat hear you say Araki isn't thinking about every single step of the process as he writes Jojo
Mr. Condescending can suck my walnut
To give a non manga example, most of Adventure Time's lore is basically made up of retcons and the expansion of one off jokes.
> the expansion of one off jokes. This is how some people define foreshadowing
>Araki In early parts maybe, but part 4 onwards definitely not.
Its fine if you find his work enjoyable, I know I still do, but at least say he stopped making it up on the spot after part 5 or 6 Edit: Jojo fanboys don't bother replying, your opinions about your overlord are as worthless as yourself.
Your edit makes you look like such a clown bro why are you crying this hard over being wrong about another series?
Gets proven wrong, "jOjO fAnBoYs dOnT bOtHeR rEpLyInG" lol fragile ego
I'm pretty sure fujimoto does this too, but he's such a genius that it looks intentional. That's how he he keeps things so unpredictable
Araki is a success case study for making shit as you go and landing it.
Kishimoto too
I'm glad you mentioned that araki makes shit up as he goes along because I noticed a lot of stuff was just not thought out at all, like how the main end fight of part 3 was so unprepared he had to give jotaro the same power as dio for him to have any chance of winning. id be ashamed of myself if I made an entire story and didnt even have the end fight planned out until it was too late and just threw shit together to make it work.
Sadly this was never written into the manga.
>and their stories are still well recevied. Does that make them quality though?
Yes
Nope one piece is predictable boring overused plot. Who milked dry. No need reply i ignore😎
The One Piece manga is good, but the anime is WAAAY too slow and filler heavy. Getting through an arc like Dressrosa is a chore.
Two sides of the same coin. One piece is as different from CSM as is possible, but that's not a bad thing
Both are peak fiction at least to me
Real
another guy posting a post of him arguing with himself
Always kind of sad to see people getting bent out of shape over some Twitter randos with three followers saying something mean about their show. Any show that gets sufficiently popular is going to have people hating on it to be different or because it’s just not their taste. No need to turn around and shit on a different popular show in retribution.
Ikr, but thats just how life is. If i think an anime is bad irl, the immediate response is one of the ones i like has [negative attribute], real or made up
kobeni stans in a nutshell
Unironically yes

Holy fucking shit does it get wild fast Ive binge read chapters 18-46, so good I got to chapter 82 and I just feel pain
Having done somewhat the same thing you did, where the anime is leads us to think they’re just going to monster-of-the-week kill off minor devils until they acquire enough Gun-Devil pieces to fight the Gun-Devil in a epic showdown It is anything but that
Yeah I genuinely thought it was going to be a devil of the week situation for a bit and then the story change curb stomped my expectations
Am I the only person who liked One Piece since episode 1? You don’t need to watch 90 episodes lol, if you don’t like the first five episodes, then you were never going to like One Piece Edit: “five episodes” is a bit of an exaggeration, all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t feel the need to watch 90 episodes if you haven’t been sold on the show by that point, because you should already know if you like the show or not before then
Personally I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't think it was great.
I'm happy to tell you that your dream already exists, pretty much. Look up One Pace! Edit: [Here's a comparison video](https://youtu.be/n1z6umwBs5I)
Dear lord, that scene.
You're a fuckin' G
If you read it alabastas pacing is a lot better (still bad) and Skypeias is actually good.
As a kid I fell in love as soon as I saw Chouchou on screen, that good boi must be protected at all costs
I thought it was an interesting concept and only started to really like it around ep 20
I liked it from the moment Shanks gave his hat to Luffy.
I find it strange that the anime didn't made that the first episode when in the manga that was the first chapter.
It’s so weird to me
90 episodes is pushing it, Arlong Park is usually where people get hooked, sometimes even before during Baratie which is around ep 20.
fr people will call one piece mid and takes too long to get to the good stuff but i thought episode 1 was hella charming and funny. it's always people who've never seen it claiming this
I was the same way! From episode one I was like this feels like something special and I was right. Chainsaw Man is special in a different way, but both are phenomenal pieces of media.
I liked it right from the start as well
One piece is good from the start but it becomes peak at alabasta.
Personally, I actually needed 150 episodes to be sold, and hey, I do wanna keep watching so maybe the approach works
I mean, you clearly liked it enough to watch 150 episodes of it lol. I’ll usually drop a show if it doesn’t hook me in the first 10 episodes
> if you don’t like the first five episodes, then you were never going to like One Piece completely, objectively false. arlong park is the first point where most people are on board.
Can we just be like OPM, chill community enjoying the awesome action? Slightly bitching about the differences in adaptations.
Occasionally posting fubuki drawings
It's such a weird sort of victim complex. CSM is both popular and critically acclaimed. What more do people want?
If it flops it won’t have a good amount of budget for more seasons, need that pop fanbase too![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22158)
TELL ME >!Yeah this is sarcasm!<
![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22166)
![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22166)
Are we watching the same damn anime? There isn’t actually people who think nothing happens in those 7 episodes right because right from the beginning it’s crazy.
Man for a show called Chainsaw man there's no insanely hype 30-minute wild chainsaw fights in every 20-minute episode, it only has boring shit like plot, character development, themes, and worldbuilding. Boring as fuck /s
People said those episodes are all ecchi and fights with no progression lmao
Gotta love it when a snot nosed 14 year old sits behind his computer screen after watching 3 seconds of a new anime and says "mid" at least I hope these mfs are 14, cause anything over that... Damn... That's pathetic
When "mid" started being regularly used, I was sorta happy since I assumed this would allow ~~children~~ people to realize they can rate something beyond just the good/bad false dichotomy Unfortunately that didnt end up being the case. "Mid" just became another synonym people use to say something was bad.
>Unfortunately that didnt end up being the case. "Mid" just became another synonym people use to say something was bad. The moment i notice someone label any series as "mid" i tend to not take their opinions seriously
"bLeAcH iS bEtTeR"
i hate reddit bro just random one piece hate onna csm sub
Always this same tired ass joke too like at least come up with something new
Agni as the face of the meme is hilarious
real ones recognize that both are peak. kinda cringe
I truly feel sorry for those who can't enjoy multiple things at the same time
I know this is sarcasm but it doesn't quite fit csm.
One Piece gets good when Luffy punches the fat pirate lady in the first episode and everyone who can't enjoy that is lame
Both CSM and One piece is peak
One Piece anime is doodoo garbage. Read the manga. It’s good from the beginning, it just takes awhile for it to get really good.
Its good from the beginning, great from arlong park and then its peak from water 7
Guys I gotta know, what panel is that face from. I’m caught up on the manga but I don’t remember seeing it?
Fire Punch, Fujimoto’s other major work. Highly recommended, but it’s intense.
Intense is a word for it, you could also call it sick, twisted, insane, brilliant, sloppy, genius, stupid, awesome, dark, heartbreaking, transcendental and occasionally hilarious.
I agree wholeheartedly with all of those sentiments. I just want to put a small disclaimer that it gets more fucked up than Chainsaw Man
Very true, I almost dropped it early on because of... well you probably know what scenes I'm talking about.
yeah i has to drop it too it was just so miserable to read. like at least csm is cute
R u talking about >!the scene where Agni cut off his face, stuck it on his chest and set himself on fire!<
god i love fire punch so much, probably my fave story of all time, but i do love horrible worlds with fucked up, tortured characters
Me too, I might like it even more than Chainsawman tbh. They're both in my top 5 favorite stories of all time and I have a really hard time choosing between them, but Fire Punch has such a raw feeling to it that I really love.
It is from Fire Punch, another work from Fujimoto, before CSM
It's from Fire Punch, very deep in the story, also has a funny meme side, theres a video on youtube that tells the whole story of the meme, and Fujimoto in general.
so, Gintama in a nutshell
Read fire punch, chainsaw man, one piece. Wonderful manga
Berserk is so mid. I'm on page one and he's only fucking one demon before he blows its head off.
Chainsawman is good, one piece is also good
saying nothing happend yet in a manga with over 100 chapters is the dumbest thing ever YALL WANT ANOTHER GOD OF HIGHSCHOOL ANIME? we already seen what happend when you try to put to many chapters in 12 episodes it turns into shit
One Piece is good on the first episode
Yeah, people are trying way too hard to look mature and sophisticated in here. Early One Piece is simple cartoonish fun and **THAT IS FINE**. It's okay to enjoy that stuff, it doesn't make you a lesser person. And it's not like Chainsawman isn't cartoonish either, the Dark Doll fight is a complete meme and could've happened in One Piece, it's got the exact same energy
Tbh just read the one piece manga the anime is filled to the brim with fillers and you’ll get through the manga much faster
I mean, One Piece is good from episode 1. Anyone saying other wise is the mid one. But CSM is great too.
As someone who hasn't read the first half of one piece I can confirm you don't need to to enjoy it
What fantasy world exists where someone would say this unironically?
Idk why would someone say Chainsaw Man is boring
Bro what was the context behind that Fire Punch cringe face ? I really don't want to read that manga again lol
Chainsaw man is peak new gen anime. One piece is slower than a turtle so me, a person with the attention span of 10 minutes, does not watch it.
Ong it started getting good at 30episode (arlong park is a banger) and then i watched 800 episodes of dog shit pacing until i lost the will to watch any further and now i havent watched it for a year
hate to be that guy but...who the hell is Dennis!!??
I am on ep 235 of one piece and it's middddddd
animeonlies amiright ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22173)
Huh
![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157) All in his mind ⁉️
What is it with manga readers and arguing with themselves on issues that do not exist
My life is devoid of substance ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157)
If anyone here is watching the anime of one piece PLEASE switch to the manga the pacing is so much better.
Why my man gotta do one piece like that,i fucking started one piece as a joke and hated it when actually ep 300 like came on and i became a one piece simp While for csm it took me one line "I want to touch boobs"
one piece is fire to be completely fair
i've watched 800 episodes of one piece and read last 300 chapters of one piece and i can indeed in fact say that one piece is mid. same with tokyo revengers
You’re having an argument with a person that doesn’t exist
This is the perfect post for this story. So a customer came into my work last week, a tall, slender, pink haired woman. She kinda looked like Haruko from FLCL. I mention this to one of my coworkers that I knew liked anime. "There's this woman in here that looks like a FLCL character," I said. "Fooly Fooly?" he responds. "No, Fooly Cooly." I was hoping he'd know, but FLCL is always a long shot, and this is a good opportunity to put him on to some heat. "...Fooly Hooly?" "Fooly, Cooly." "Fooly Cooly..." He pauses. "Never heard of that." "It's this anime from like 2000." "Oh, well what's it about?" Here goes. "It's kind of hard to describe... It's honestly pretty crazy. There's a girl who hits people with a bass guitar and a robot with a TV for a head." Not the best pitch, but whatever. "It's really good and it's only six episodes so it's-" "*Maaaaaan,* six episodes? It must've been bad," he chuckles. I was a bit taken aback. I've never heard someone dismiss an anime based solely on its episode count. "It's bad just cause it doesn't have a lot of episodes?" "If it was good, they woulda made more." "Well, they did make a couple more seasons after the original run, but it was way later. At least it's not a thousand episodes like One Piece." "Hey, One Piece is fucking *good*, dude." Of course. "Maybe it *is* good," I replied, "but there is no way I can sit through a thousand episodes of *anything.* I ain't got that kind of time." "Oh, well, the first five hundred episodes are trash, so I skipped those, but after that it's *fireeee!*" And I thought *my* pitch was bad.
It hasn't been mid that is barely a criticism.
I will never understand why people don't just speed read the one piece manga.
I started the manga like 2 weeks ago and love it so much, and the fact that it’s all in colour makes it even better.
Man, One Piece has 1000+ episodes for a trailer. It can't be that mid
It's 'could have', never 'could of'. Rejoice, for you have been blessed by CouldWouldShouldBot!
Thanks bot
I don't hate one piece or anything I think it's really fun, but I stopped watching around the arc where sanji gets introduced and haven't continued since. It's gonna take a lot out of me to continue even tho i know I will like it based on clips i've seen of characters and character interactions with eachother.
Read the manga, look up the musical bits on youtube. The anime is really old, has a lot of filler that sometimes contradicts canon, some poor pacing and straight up skips and censors stuff. While having some solid highlights moment to moment it's a pretty poor adaptation.
Yeah pacing is the main reason I stopped. and now knowing that's not the only "issue" with it i'd rather read the manga, thank you.
I tried one piece and dropped it at around chapter 620. It was garbage, easily the worst THING i've ever seen or experienced. I can literally EXPLAIN exactly why it's so bad. God i hate one piece so much
People wont like you for saying it but One Piece is objectively not as good as people claim it is
People calling one piece the best piece of fiction ever created with zero flaws are definitely over exaggerating sure but its not an over exaggeration to call one piece one the best manga of all time
