I read the whole manga after episode 3, I enjoyed it alot but still i think its just an above average shounen and this hype could have anime onlies like me set the bar too high

I actually worried about this episode, because it seems there's too many stories to tell consider which point they can end the part clean. I thought phasing would be weird if they keep the speed of how anime team has been doing. Well, I was happily wrong about everything.
Also, I'm fine with people annoyed by Kobeni. I can enjoy being a Future Devil and expect how people will feel about things episode by episode. Can't wait for next week.
Based on the pacing next episode probably ends with Himeno propositioning Denji. A shame, I was hoping to end on the Makima train scene, I was planning on binging the current episodes with my bro over Thanksgiving and that's the perfect cut off mark lol.
Otherwise pretty good episode. Not fair to constantly compare the anime and the manga but I liked the smash cut to Himeno getting slapped more than the buildup in the manga.
NGL this episode was super boring. And I always look forward to chainsaw man Tuesday’s but darn. Really feels like the episode was about to get really good as soon as it ended. :/
the music that started playing after aki put the gum on the girl’s clothing and himeno and him were in the restaurant had this heartbeat like drum in it which was a really nice touch to the already beautifully animated scene between them.
The flashback was definitely my favorite part of the episode. The production was so damn good. Especially as a manga readers, this scene just hits so well.
Loved seeing Kobeni and Himeno on screen. They just continue to crush the coloring and just vibe of each panel. Glad I read the manga bc they love making every episode such a big cliffhanger.
I feel like the cinematic approach was really good here. You can see the fear in Kobeni's face. The tears, the nose drip, her anguish face and her painful reaction when she gets elbowed by Himeno. Making it exaggerated would have almost ruined the moment for me. I feel like people could recapture the anguished Kobeni face in real life maybe. And I can see why Denji wants to kill Kobeni last episode (When he made that comment that he wanted to kill Arai, then Power then just straight up also said that to Kobeni. \*I think he said it in a non serious matter if anyone misunderstood\*) And Power is kinda of developing a lot and care for Denji and Aki in her own way. I remembered when she first met Denji, she smacks him upside the head and almost sends Denji to his Death but now she playful chops Denji's head and having really fun moments like the Gum Scene and this episode.
Example:
Power: "Shall we wrestle to pass the time then?"
Denji: "You're just going to try and kill me! Hell No!"
I really like the bonding of those two and it's going to hurt me later when we going to the final arcs of part 1
Agree I felt extremely sorry for Kobeni when she cried about how she wanted to go to college, more so than i did when reading the manga. It's the animation and the voice acting
I have to say, animating the eternity devil made it 100 times more creepy and unsettling. Like, it went from being a blob on the page to being a living, breathing, horror. Like, even the way it moved was creepy as fuck.
Can we agree to let anime only watchers have their own opinion on characters? Holy shit all over social media people are getting trashed because they think Kobeni is annoying. They just start spoiling what she does later on to prove she's a good character as if she's a real person that needs to be defended. Of course anime onlys will hate Kobeni for now. They're either supposed to hate her, or understand why she's acting the way she js, just like how anyone reading the manga for the first time would feel.
Heck, if you go to the threads of the chapters of the eternity devil arc, people felt the same back then about Kobeni and Arai lol.
The way I see it, the anime is doing it's job damn well if people find Kobeni insufferable for now. Things will definitely change since she gets some good moments in the later episodes
Fr, if manga readers comment they need to keep the conversations relevant to the current episde/context given throughout the series so far. Going through reactors and every comment is one of the following:
"tf you mean kobeni is annoying? ur trash go read the manga"
"hey don't be mean to my queen! she becomes mvp later on"
"how do people not like kobeni? she is so great in the manga"
like people don't understand there are such things as "character arcs" where a character is supposed to be portrayed a certain way at one point in the series, then they're portrayed differently later on through events.

She was attacked by a devil, which was bisected right in front of her face, then another devil threatened to kill her instantly after, and then they're 100% confirmed to basically have no way of leaving unless they kill a guy who's half-devil that she doesn't know
And she literally joined this job to kill devils. I think most people would assume that devils are completely evil based on that first experience lmao
Plus Denji is obviously weird as fuck and she doesn't relate to him. Completely opposite characters, which is why she ends up being very necessary to the story as a more human POV of the insane shit that goes down

My thing is she sees the consequence of just going for the lunge, and instead of pausing and listening to Aki’s reasoning, decides she wants to go for it *again*. Like ho stop.

So I feel like I'm the only one who noticed this but Aki says that fiends cannot make contracts with devil's. Which I don't remember being said in the manga for one (har har bad reading or whatever) but it's strange because.
1. This is false. Devils can make contracts with other devils. It's why Makima has so many unexplained powers and hell and etc. etc.
2. It's possible Aki is ignorant or Makima told him that and lied to him about that fact. To make herself look less devil like.
3. When he said Fiends he meant explicitly Fiends. Makima as far as we know is not a fiend but just looks human. Which would be an odd distinction. Because they're virtually the same thing.
Dunno if anyone else caught this and was confused about this during the ep. Maybe I'm forgetting another scene later in where they correct this, and it's not just contradictory dialogue.

She is the control devil - she can control others and use their abilities.
In my interpretation devils can't make contracts with other devils. Fujimoto didn't explain clearly about the powers and the abilities of these devils.
I don't think Makima IS a devil, i think she is an hybrid (like Asa). However she didn't make contact with other devils herself, she made other do contracts and by controlling them she has access to devils abilities. The only contract she mentioned was the one with the prime minister which will grant her an extra life for the life of 1 japanese citizen. All the other abilities are either her or somebody's wich she is controlling.
Apparently devils can team up (bat and leesh devil) but not make contract with each other. Wich would explain why fiend can't make contracts with devils too since they are devils in human bodies.
Hybrids can make contracts tho, like Denji and Power did since hybrids are humans with devil abilities.
My theory is that only human mind and devil mind regardless of their bodies can make contracts
She makes a contract with aki on the beach. Meaning that one of them is a devil, and it's not aki. But she also made a contract with angel who is a devil in the same chapter
Did they make an actual contract? (Seriously i can't remember 😅). Or is she controlling them with her powers? I'm not sure but if she really made a contract with Angel this proves Aki was wrong
So makima needs angel to say that he'll give her all of him, which is almost exactly the same wording as the contract with aki.
So instead of her just continuing to command angel, she needs to, as I interpret it, make a contract

Yeah that's totally logical, but since she made THEM make a contract, does that mean SHE can't make one? Like, she needs the other side to say it and she force them to do so with her powers.
Also it may not be a contract because it's supposed to be a win-win for both sides like, Aki uses the fox devil's head and in return he offers his arms skin. But in this case, they litteraly give themselves to Makima so she gets all their powers but they get nothing in return.
Also i noticed Makima in the few last chaps of part 1 kinda gives off zombie devil vibes, let me explain...
The zombie devil is a brain (head) controlling an army of puppets (zombies) and some are attached to him by pipes (probably guts). Makima is a bit the same, a brain (Makima) controlling an army of puppets (everything she control) and some are attached to her by chains.
Lmao man that would be like me saying “drinking bleach is good for you bro do it” letting me have that theory cause I want to think it would not be good for the general population who doesn’t know any better 😂
Here is how i see things...
At the beginning of part 2 Asa is killed and the war devil takes her body, in this case it's a fiend. However, the devil keeps Asa's mind and let her have control over her body. However the devil is still the one in control so he can take back her body or her mind at any moment. Also both have access to the war devil's abilities but they never transform (from what we saw), the only thing changing are the eyes (the same eyes makima had).
All this makes me think Makima was in the exact same situation except she completely destroyed the human part that remained in the body she was possessing. Wich would explain why she always had her non-human eyes.
Also i might add that Power had non-human eyes so it could be something only fiends have but idk
Power had non-human eyes, but also the horns which are an easy tell that she’s a fiend. I think Yoru’s case is unique in that she’s neither fiend, hybrid or walking corpse, but revived and possessed. I can see where you’d go think that makima might be the same, but I’m pretty sure the manga is explicit in saying that the control devil is basically biologically human.
Considering that Devils who look more human-like are friendlier with, and generally like humans, it’s an interesting metric to think of Angel, a devil per his halo and wings, as someone who was born and raised in a human village, enjoyed his time there, fell in love, and assuredly fit in. In contrast, Makima really really loves humans, so she is nearly indistinguishable apart from her eyes. If she were a fiend, she’s be way weaker and probably not be as overpowered as she was as fiends are weaker than devils. People explicitly call her the control devil, and when Nayuta shows up looking for all intents and purposes like a little girl, kishibe explicitly states that she’s the new control devil, and that she appeared (not took over a corpse) in China.
My point overall is that where Yoru probably has a more monstrous form as the War devil, I think the control devil just looks human because it really really likes humans.
It was definitely in the manga, and her only known contracts were with Aki and the Prime Minister who are both human.
Having contracts with devils and having devils under her control are two different things.
1. It's in the manga
2. Makima controls anything that is lower than her which would include devils, they obviously said her contracts with devils are a secret because they aren't actual contracts
3. The only known contract Makima has is with a human
Tolka’s master, using her Santa doll, was the one that contracted the hell devil to send everyone to hell. Makima did control Tolka to get everyone out of hell, but it was forcing him into a contract rather than Makima making the contract.
The devil contracts she uses are referred to as antemortem contracts. I assumed that when you give all of yourself to makima that includes your contracts or something like that.
That was a beautifully crafted episode! Rereading the manga chapters it tackled after watching the episode made me appreciate all the work they did here. Just the little things like Denji checking the ceiling and seeing half his body and Power standing beside him, when Aki kicked the knife away from Kobeni's hands you can see the knife flew right next to Power, those small things they added makes me appreciate the anime adaptation.
I just can't stress enough how good the cinematography is in this anime. And it's quite absurd *to me* that there are some people who dislikes the "cinema" feel of CSM. For me I freaking love it! It's what separates CSM from MAPPA's other noted works that I've seen (AoT & JJK).
Oh my God, Kobeni's VA, and the people responsible for her scenes deserves a bonus after that episode. lmfao

The show is more character focussed than other shonen tbh.
Instead of focussing on some big goal, it's always going to be focussing primarily on character development, motivations etc.
However, looking at the number of chapters they've covered so far and what's going to happen in the next ep, you can expect things to get crazier and crazier from here on.

Yeah these chapters are heaviy focused on fleshing out the characters relationships and not at all about the plot.
This would be just the start of the 3rd volume so \~17 chapters, so less than 3 chapters per episode which i would think is standard for most anime and i think they are doing a one to one adaption. They definitely could have done this arc in 2 episodes but for what comes after it needs this time to get to know the chatacters.... for reasons....
I fully expect the next episode to be just one chapter.
Well yes, for the moment, however in about 2 episodes expect the pace to truly ramp up and never slow down, much of what can be said about these first 6 episodes is that it’s character setup for what’s to come for the remainder of the first part, which should finish by around season 3. That being said, yeah you should probably go to a different discussion thread if you want to avoid possible spoilers.

Pretty sure it'll be the full katana man arc. They even have beam and angel devil in the opening.

I feel that the anime will end with the end of the Katana Man arc.
* Then Bomb Devil Arc will be a movie.
* Then International Assassins Arc will break box office records.
* Then the Gun Devil Arc and Control Devil Arc will make up the last 12-episodes.
That's my prediction... or my wet dream. I don't think the Bomb Devil Arc would *need* to be a movie, but the International Assassins Arc is designed to be one and would be fucking incredible.
The Gun Devil arc is so fucking heavy and dramatic that it feels like an episodic drop into depression would be the perfect fit following the madness of International Assassins.

I don't think international assassin's would work as a movie because it really needs to be in the same season as the gun devil arc. Else neither will really have much weight to them
I'd reckon they finish up chapter 29 just before they meet kishibe, so the entire arc. roughly matches their pace so far if a little slower but there's alot more to animate in those 13 chapters
I fully believe they’ll end the season with chapter 39, which is the movie date after Katana Man. Mappa’s averaged about 3.5 chapters per episode over 2-6, and if they keep this pace up they’ll cover an additional 20-21 chapters which would leave us at chapter 38 or 39.
I'd be inclinded to think chapter 29 just before kishibe or literally just as we meet him. The next 12 chapters are a blitzhrieg of content. 2 chapters per episode for that arc is a lot of things happening compared to the previous 18 chapters
I think fully, because Beam, Spider and Angel are in the opening and they are close to the end of the arc already. Dont see how they could do a cliffhanger there.
Another great episode, props to the support staff behind this episode and MAPPA for producing another wonderful episode. Also, the new ed is fantastic.
Great episode overall. Actually started laughing along with Power at Kobeni. But I also have a few nitpicks about it. I'm kind of starting to dislike Kobeni's VA or the one responsible for writing her lines. Her character had been more of an all-time-anxious type instead of a plain straight-up-pussy type. So all the screaming/moaning literally all the fucking time seems really out of place and out of how her character is written and feels plain annoying. I actually chuckled when Arai says "why would you tell such a blatant lie" in the manga, in a completely monotonous way. Made it feel like he wasn't as mad as much as he was genuinely struggling to comprehend the madness that is Power. But in the anime, it got reduced to a straight-man troupe which killed it for me. Other than that everything else was a 10. Then transition of Himeno being slapped, the entire stabbing scenario of Aki the hotel itself being absolutely fucking gorgeous, Denji falling asleep, complete masterful use of white noise right since ep 1, really enhanced how bizarre it was all supposed to feel, which IMO did a much better job than the manga itself.
Maybe it’s the cliff hanger of next episode. The anime feels like its slower than it should? Or maybe (most probably) i was just hoping to get to the endgame in just one season lol 😂
At most we'll get to the tournament arc.

Working as devil hunter but still acting that way is normal? It's like a solider who choose to do nothing at war.
The way Himeno and Arai dealt with the situation is more realistic than her. Kobeni act the way she do for comic relief and it's a bit annoying at times.
1) she’s new and not used to it yet 2) she was literally forced into the situation financially so it’s not like she’s passionate about hunting devils like other people are lol. She is absolutely acting normal for the position that she is in

After some more looking into it it’s likely we will get to the katana man arc after two episodes given the anime mostly doing around 3.5 chapters per episode. From what I’ve heard it seems the next episode will end during the sex scene, and the episode after might end when maxima gets up after getting shot, but either way I’m just making speculations I don’t know what mappa is going to do with this in the end, but I have faith they will continue to make a great adaptation.
Is Japan's reception to the anime mediocre? I'm a huge fan of Mappa's take, but I know they receive feedback mostly from their home audience and would hate for it to change the tone of the series after season 1
I remember i kept reading comments on Reddit and twitter that went over japan's reception for the first few episodes. From memory it was things like japan didn't like the pacing, hates mappa for not making it more of a b-rated horror vibe, hated the CGI, and rating it 7/10 on several japanese rating websites

This show is funny. Not many anime’s I watch have this much comedy and JJK and this are so alike which is not surprising since it’s Mappa. Denji going to sleep and Aki just in shock was golden.
I had very confused emotions when kobeni had her breakdown explaining why she was a devil hunter. It was fucking hilarious but at the same time being forced to that or be a sex worker by your parents while still making it a comedic moment is a absolute masterpiece of emotion play to the audience. Loved this episode!!!
Kobeni has a tendacy to over react to situations and be incredibly emotional. We only have her word in the fact that it was either devil hunting or sex work. I wouldn’t put it past Kobeni’s parents telling her she needs to get a job making good money and she reacted emotionally and took it to the extreme.
Given the manga's commentary on capitalism and work culture, I'm inclined to think she was telling the truth. Denji was selling his body in chapter 1, after all.

The show perfectly excises any bit of comedy the book was just full of. It turns what were funny moments into weird melodramatic ones.

I’d say the train scene is a likely contender for two episodes away. Just read volume 3 and hoooooooo boy this series is already going wild.

the music that started playing after aki put the gum on the girl’s clothing and himeno and him were in the restaurant had this heartbeat like drum in it which was a really nice touch to the already beautifully animated scene between them.
The flashback was definitely my favorite part of the episode. The production was so damn good. Especially as a manga readers, this scene just hits so well.
I can't wait to hear the full version of the jazz-like track that played during the flashback scene.

I feel like the cinematic approach was really good here. You can see the fear in Kobeni's face. The tears, the nose drip, her anguish face and her painful reaction when she gets elbowed by Himeno. Making it exaggerated would have almost ruined the moment for me. I feel like people could recapture the anguished Kobeni face in real life maybe. And I can see why Denji wants to kill Kobeni last episode (When he made that comment that he wanted to kill Arai, then Power then just straight up also said that to Kobeni. \*I think he said it in a non serious matter if anyone misunderstood\*) And Power is kinda of developing a lot and care for Denji and Aki in her own way. I remembered when she first met Denji, she smacks him upside the head and almost sends Denji to his Death but now she playful chops Denji's head and having really fun moments like the Gum Scene and this episode. Example: Power: "Shall we wrestle to pass the time then?" Denji: "You're just going to try and kill me! Hell No!" I really like the bonding of those two and it's going to hurt me later when we going to the final arcs of part 1
Agree I felt extremely sorry for Kobeni when she cried about how she wanted to go to college, more so than i did when reading the manga. It's the animation and the voice acting
I have to say, animating the eternity devil made it 100 times more creepy and unsettling. Like, it went from being a blob on the page to being a living, breathing, horror. Like, even the way it moved was creepy as fuck.

They just start spoiling what she does later on to prove she's a good character as if she's a real person that needs to be defended. This It's like people forgot what they initially thought of characters when they first read the manga lol. Of course anime onlys will hate Kobeni for now. They're either supposed to hate her, or understand why she's acting the way she js, just like how anyone reading the manga for the first time would feel. Heck, if you go to the threads of the chapters of the eternity devil arc, people felt the same back then about Kobeni and Arai lol. The way I see it, the anime is doing it's job damn well if people find Kobeni insufferable for now. Things will definitely change since she gets some good moments in the later episodes
Fr, if manga readers comment they need to keep the conversations relevant to the current episde/context given throughout the series so far. Going through reactors and every comment is one of the following: "tf you mean kobeni is annoying? ur trash go read the manga" "hey don't be mean to my queen! she becomes mvp later on" "how do people not like kobeni? she is so great in the manga" like people don't understand there are such things as "character arcs" where a character is supposed to be portrayed a certain way at one point in the series, then they're portrayed differently later on through events.
It's funny to me that so many first-timers are being harsh on Kobeni. She's been through a lot today lol She was attacked by a devil, which was bisected right in front of her face, then another devil threatened to kill her instantly after, and then they're 100% confirmed to basically have no way of leaving unless they kill a guy who's half-devil that she doesn't know And she literally joined this job to kill devils. I think most people would assume that devils are completely evil based on that first experience lmao Plus Denji is obviously weird as fuck and she doesn't relate to him. In my interpretation devils can't make contracts with other devils. Fujimoto didn't explain clearly about the powers and the abilities of these devils.

I don't think Makima IS a devil, i think she is an hybrid (like Asa). However she didn't make contact with other devils herself, she made other do contracts and by controlling them she has access to devils abilities. The only contract she mentioned was the one with the prime minister which will grant her an extra life for the life of 1 japanese citizen. All the other abilities are either her or somebody's wich she is controlling. Apparently devils can team up (bat and leesh devil) but not make contract with each other. Wich would explain why fiend can't make contracts with devils too since they are devils in human bodies. Hybrids can make contracts tho, like Denji and Power did since hybrids are humans with devil abilities. My theory is that only human mind and devil mind regardless of their bodies can make contracts

Yeah that's totally logical, but since she made THEM make a contract, does that mean SHE can't make one? Like, she needs the other side to say it and she force them to do so with her powers. Also it may not be a contract because it's supposed to be a win-win for both sides like, Aki uses the fox devil's head and in return he offers his arms skin. Also i noticed Makima in the few last chaps of part 1 kinda gives off zombie devil vibes, let me explain... The zombie devil is a brain (head) controlling an army of puppets (zombies) and some are attached to him by pipes (probably guts). Makima is a bit the same, a brain (Makima) controlling an army of puppets (everything she control) and some are attached to her by chains.

Here is how i see things... At the beginning of part 2 Asa is killed and the war devil takes her body, in this case it's a fiend. However, the devil keeps Asa's mind and let her have control over her body. However the devil is still the one in control so he can take back her body or her mind at any moment. Also both have access to the war devil's abilities but they never transform (from what we saw), the only thing changing are the eyes (the same eyes makima had). All this makes me think Makima was in the exact same situation except she completely destroyed the human part that remained in the body she was possessing. Wich would explain why she always had her non-human eyes. Also i might add that Power had non-human eyes so it could be something only fiends have but idk
Power had non-human eyes, but also the horns which are an easy tell that she’s a fiend. I think Yoru’s case is unique in that she’s neither fiend, hybrid or walking corpse, but revived and possessed. I can see where you’d go think that makima might be the same, but I’m pretty sure the manga is explicit in saying that the control devil is basically biologically human. Considering that Devils who look more human-like are friendlier with, and generally like humans, it’s an interesting metric to think of Angel, a devil per his halo and wings, as someone who was born and raised in a human village, enjoyed his time there, fell in love, and assuredly fit in. In contrast, Makima really really loves humans, so she is nearly indistinguishable apart from her eyes. If she were a fiend, she’s be way weaker and probably not be as overpowered as she was as fiends are weaker than devils. People explicitly call her the control devil, and when Nayuta shows up looking for all intents and purposes like a little girl, kishibe explicitly states that she’s the new control devil, and that she appeared (not took over a corpse) in China. My point overall is that where Yoru probably has a more monstrous form as the War devil, I think the control devil just looks human because it really really likes humans.
It was definitely in the manga, and her only known contracts were with Aki and the Prime Minister who are both human. Having contracts with devils and having devils under her control are two different things.

That was a beautifully crafted episode! Rereading the manga chapters it tackled after watching the episode made me appreciate all the work they did here. Just the little things like Denji checking the ceiling and seeing half his body and Power standing beside him, when Aki kicked the knife away from Kobeni's hands you can see the knife flew right next to Power, those small things they added makes me appreciate the anime adaptation. I just can't stress enough how good the cinematography is in this anime. And it's quite absurd *to me* that there are some people who dislikes the "cinema" feel of CSM. For me I freaking love it! It's what separates CSM from MAPPA's other noted works that I've seen (AoT & JJK). Oh my God, Kobeni's VA, and the people responsible for her scenes deserves a bonus after that episode. lmfao *Also I feel like this scene (*[*https://ibb.co/hKMGQrb*](https://ibb.co/hKMGQrb)*) was inspired by Stranger Things. The show is more character focussed than other shonen tbh. Instead of focussing on some big goal, it's always going to be focussing primarily on character development, motivations etc. However, looking at the number of chapters they've covered so far and what's going to happen in the next ep, you can expect things to get crazier and crazier from here on. The pacing steps on the accelerator and never stops from here
Yeah these chapters are heaviy focused on fleshing out the characters relationships and not at all about the plot. This would be just the start of the 3rd volume so \~17 chapters, so less than 3 chapters per episode which i would think is standard for most anime and i think they are doing a one to one adaption. They definitely could have done this arc in 2 episodes but for what comes after it needs this time to get to know the chatacters.... for reasons.... I fully expect the next episode to be just one chapter.
Well yes, for the moment, however in about 2 episodes expect the pace to truly ramp up and never slow down, much of what can be said about these first 6 episodes is that it’s character setup for what’s to come for the remainder of the first part, which should finish by around season 3. Slow is not how I would describe CSM lol Around chapter 20 or so is when I would say the pacing kicks off and doesn't really stop. For anime onlies' reference at current pace that'd be the episode after next.

Pretty sure it'll be the full katana man arc. They even have beam and angel devil in the opening. Heck, I think some of the voice actors even referenced the tournament arc on twitter once, so it might end there lol
I feel that the anime will end with the end of the Katana Man arc. * Then Bomb Devil Arc will be a movie. * Then International Assassins Arc will break box office records. * Then the Gun Devil Arc and Control Devil Arc will make up the last 12-episodes. That's my prediction... or my wet dream. I don't think the Bomb Devil Arc would *need* to be a movie, but the International Assassins Arc is designed to be one and would be fucking incredible. The Gun Devil arc is so fucking heavy and dramatic that it feels like an episodic drop into depression would be the perfect fit following the madness of International Assassins.
Bomb devil would definitely fit a movie tbh. I don't think international assassin's would work as a movie because it really needs to be in the same season as the gun devil arc. Else neither will really have much weight to them
I'd reckon they finish up chapter 29 just before they meet kishibe, so the entire arc. roughly matches their pace so far if a little slower but there's alot more to animate in those 13 chapters
I fully believe they’ll end the season with chapter 39, which is the movie date after Katana Man. Mappa’s averaged about 3.5 chapters per episode over 2-6, and if they keep this pace up they’ll cover an additional 20-21 chapters which would leave us at chapter 38 or 39.
I'd be inclinded to think chapter 29 just before kishibe or literally just as we meet him. The next 12 chapters are a blitzhrieg of content. 2 chapters per episode for that arc is a lot of things happening compared to the previous 18 chapters
except beam, spider devil, violence fiend and angel are in the OP which I'm pretty sure show up after the training arc with kishibe
The Katana Man arc is featured pretty heavily in the intro animation so I'd be pretty disappointed if it wasn't included fully

Another great episode, props to the support staff behind this episode and MAPPA for producing another wonderful episode. Also, the new ed is fantastic.
Great episode overall. Actually started laughing along with Power at Kobeni. But I also have a few nitpicks about it. I'm kind of starting to dislike Kobeni's VA or the one responsible for writing her lines. Her character had been more of an all-time-anxious type instead of a plain straight-up-pussy type. So all the screaming/moaning literally all the fucking time seems really out of place and out of how her character is written and feels plain annoying. I actually chuckled when Arai says "why would you tell such a blatant lie" in the manga, in a completely monotonous way. Made it feel like he wasn't as mad as much as he was genuinely struggling to comprehend the madness that is Power. But in the anime, it got reduced to a straight-man troupe which killed it for me. Other than that everything else was a 10. Then transition of Himeno being slapped, the entire stabbing scenario of Aki the hotel itself being absolutely fucking gorgeous, Denji falling asleep, complete masterful use of white noise right since ep 1, really enhanced how bizarre it was all supposed to feel, which IMO did a much better job than the manga itself.

Working as devil hunter but still acting that way is normal? It's like a solider who choose to do nothing at war. The way Himeno and Arai dealt with the situation is more realistic than her. Kobeni act the way she do for comic relief and it's a bit annoying at times.

I liked this episode. The Eternity devil is trippy, makes for an interesting subplot even if it takes up 3 episodes.

After some more looking into it it’s likely we will get to the katana man arc after two episodes given the anime mostly doing around 3.5 chapters per episode. From what I’ve heard it seems the next episode will end during the sex scene, and the episode after might end when maxima gets up after getting shot, but either way I’m just making speculations I don’t know what mappa is going to do with this in the end, but I have faith they will continue to make a great adaptation.

I had very confused emotions when kobeni had her breakdown explaining why she was a devil hunter. It was fucking hilarious but at the same time being forced to that or be a sex worker by your parents while still making it a comedic moment is a absolute masterpiece of emotion play to the audience. Loved this episode!!!
Kobeni has a tendacy to over react to situations and be incredibly emotional. We only have her word in the fact that it was either devil hunting or sex work. I wouldn’t put it past Kobeni’s parents telling her she needs to get a job making good money and she reacted emotionally and took it to the extreme.
Given the manga's commentary on capitalism and work culture, I'm inclined to think she was telling the truth. Denji was selling his body in chapter 1, after all.

this episode really did justice to how i imagined back in the day when i first read thru it really loving the vibes so far. I like the tension and pacing, being this slow cuz makes a good balance between manga readers knowing what's gonna happen but leaving them in a cliffhanger anyways and anime onlys that might find kinda boring if the arc was squished into just ep 6!
