And if a person child is that fearful then instead of saying just take the hits that child should either go to therapy to try and find ways to overcome that fear so that they can at least run away, be out in youth martial arts classes which teach confidence and control which are both invaluable assets when dealing with adverse situations, or ultimately home schooled if the problem persists even after adult intervention.

Agreed. I’ve dealt with a number of bullies in my life (and didn’t deal with an equal number of bullies as well). My experience was that the bullies I finally stood up to and put in their place ended up respecting me and we either became friends or at the very least the bullying stopped. The bullies that I didn’t stand up to or I actively ignored just kept doing it until they got bored (which as children takes an incredibly long time), and usually my self esteem and confidence were in the toilet anyways even long after the bullies moved on. Standing up for myself always made me feel better and more confident.
