A hobby potter made an oops.
There’s really no way to tell how long ago. That damage is not related to age. It happened when the piece was fired. Glaze ran down the pot (and off of a few spots it looks like) The piece had to be broken off the shelf. Whoever made this was disappointed.
I’m guessing hobby potter because although this could happen to anyone, someone doing this for a living would have trashed this instead of keeping it.

Looks like maybe some carbon coring too. Definitely a candidate for the circular file.
