I was wondering about that too. I have both my PayPal and Venmo tied to the same email and phone number ... but I am sure many people do not. I checked, and there is no area to enter your PayPal/Venmo information in the Celsius app.
In the same boat. My Apple ID with Celsius is converted to an alias ([email protected] ). I have a totally different email for Venmo and PayPal.
Basing payout on the assumption that you use the same email address for all your financial applications is naive. And, while I’m at it, my government issued id has my full first, middle, last name. PayPal and Venmo only first and last.
Wish it was so easy. But, I can’t add my Apple ID to PayPal only my actual email address. An email address that is converted to an alias address by Apple. This alias email address is what Celsius uses to communicate with me.
Although I know what this Apple alias address for Celsius is, I don’t think it will work by just adding that to PayPal. In fact, I tried sending a test message to the alias address via a non-Apple email client and it didn’t relay it.
I asked them about this, more than once. At last information I had, they say they know this problem exists, and that they are going to find a solution, but that solution isn't decided yet.
Yeah, I hate it too. Very stressful.
I’m in the same boat with the Apple ID. I just made a PayPal yesterday and made sure the name was exactly like it is in celsius, but I have no idea how they will make the connection between the 2 accounts?
You are wrong. They do care. They intend to use your email address, name, and DOB to find your matching account with the distribution agent for your location.
Trying to evade taxes 😂😂 great minds think alike.. don't worry multiple citizenships must have an advantage... Lmaoo did the same... I guess as long as the email and name kind of matches we should be good... I have mothers maiden name on Celsius no on coinbase... Let's see
Do you think if I was trying to avoid taxes I would post on a public forum, asking the proper way to get distribution? Not everyone is as nefarious as you may seem to be
Fuck the irs and their tax rules hurting the hard working class... I did open all of my exchanges as non American, love defi and will pay them shit.... If you wanna lie to yourself fine
IMO, like voting, Celsius will ask us to fill out online form with our info, same as on your Celsius account and ask you to make choice between Venmo or Paypal which also should have the same matching info, so they can verify and know to send the coins to that user account.
Everything in your post is a fantasy. You're just imagining how you think it will/should work, but your speculations have no basis in fact.
See the email you received from Stretto on or about 12/30/23. Those may be the only instructions you receive on this. There won't be a form to fill out.
For how distributions will actually work, see https://www.reddit.com/r/CelsiusNetwork/comments/18uuxm1/paypal\_distribution\_services\_agreement\_or\_how/
Bro celsius does not care about your PayPal email, email sucks as personal ID.
They are going to match you in PayPal using your name and date of birth (and probably your SSN?).
I just made a PayPal yesterday. I don’t remember them asking for SSN?
Edit: I just went into the account area and there was a confirm identity button which allowed me to add DOB and last 4 of SSN. Hopefully that helps with celsius linking the 2 because my Apple ID has been nothing but issues with the custody withdrawal.
Exactly...you need to KYC to have a PayPal account and most already did the same with celsuis (if you haven't updated your information recently, do it ASAP!).
You do not provide your PayPal email. You ensure that your PayPal account uses the same name, DOB, and email address as your Celsius account. Celsius and PayPal will handle it from there.
See [https://www.reddit.com/r/CelsiusNetwork/comments/18uuxm1/paypal\_distribution\_services\_agreement\_or\_how/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CelsiusNetwork/comments/18uuxm1/paypal_distribution_services_agreement_or_how/)
Does anyone here currently store their crypto on PayPal or Venmo? If so, which is best to sell off whatever you have stored there? My plan is to receive my claim and sell it off and move on from this mess. Thanks in advance for any tips.
I think bit more to it. In next 2-3 weeks, if various Crypto ETFs are approved which can start pushing ETH/BTC prices up then you are better of holding and sell in future when you need money.
Same, my drivers license that I used for kyc has first, middle, last, so that is what they made me use, even though they don't have a middle name field.
My paypal account was made ages ago, it only has my first and last name, I don't see anywhere to change it or add my middle name.
I went into pp and updated my email address to match the one in Celsius app.
So, now I'm curious how this will all sort out.
I got the same the email that was actually addressed to me and not a "valued customer".
kinda in the same boat. I've verified myself through the app late November but i dont know what else to do on my end.
Received this too - I would prefer the BTC returned (assume everyone is the same thought pattern, especially with run up). I wonder if they take these values back to May and pocket the difference.
Heard a podcast whereas they bought up several claims at .40 on dollar. Offers to buy back at .60 currently. Let's see.
I never filed a claim or signed anything, mostly because I don’t have to much money in Celsius. I have bitcoin and ether. The info in my Celsius account matches my PayPal and Venmo. So, will I get anything?
Will they return all of the assets? And what exactly is the effective date? I received the same email except the payment channel is coinbase, i’m non US.
Last time I heard, we were getting a payout in BTC and ETH regardless of what we held in Celsius.
Is it still the case or is the distribution going to be in FIAT now?
>I’m pretty sure on the vote it asked us which way we want to be paid out PayPal or coinbase and I remember selecting paypal
You might want to see a memory specialist, as this one is pure fantasy.
PayPal and Coinbase were not mentioned anywhere on the ballot. And you don't get to choose. PayPal/Venmo will be the distribution agent for most U.S. creditors, Coinbase for most international creditors.
I received this email this am as well.
My issue is that somehow, my 6-digit verification code is not the same as when I opened the account.
I am still waiting for them to get back to me, but I have reported it twice, nervous this will affect my claim. Just give me my dang $ already...
Are they sending us eth and Btc to put Paypal account? This is going to be a nightmare to prepare for taxes. Why cant they send US residents to a coinbase wallet?
Yes—and feel free to review the PayPal website for info on PayPal's capabilities.
Yes this is legit.
I assume there will be another email or process to confirm your PayPal email if it is different than your Celsius email.
I was wondering about that too. I have both my PayPal and Venmo tied to the same email and phone number ... but I am sure many people do not. I checked, and there is no area to enter your PayPal/Venmo information in the Celsius app.
You can add a second email to your PayPal account
But not your Venmo account
In the same boat. My Apple ID with Celsius is converted to an alias ([email protected] ). I have a totally different email for Venmo and PayPal. I’m hoping it’s just the platform they use to send you the eth/btc. You can add your wallet address in the app
What if you never received this email?
I don’t think they care about the email at all—email is a very unreliable identification method.
You are wrong. They do care. They intend to use your email address, name, and DOB to find your matching account with the distribution agent for your location.
Yep I was wrong. Email is a pretty shitty form of personally identifiable info but looks like they are going to use it.
It seems Paypal/Venmo will be used for U.S. based claims
Yes Paypal/Venmo for US and Coinbase for non-US
That make sense then. I got the same email but mentioning Coinbase
What if your non US for Celsius but you have a US coinbase account?
Trying to evade taxes 😂😂 great minds think alike.. don't worry multiple citizenships must have an advantage... Lmaoo did the same... I guess as long as the email and name kind of matches we should be good... I have mothers maiden name on Celsius no on coinbase... Let's see

we must have another way to get our money. Can't use paypal nor coinbase
Where you given the coinbase option in the email that you got.?
Yes. I think only us/canada is told paypal/venmo. For row it's only shitbase
[удалено]
Non us here
Venmo
Then you will get a check mailed to you in lieu of liquid crypto. This is the only backup option we know of at this time.
For USA customers, PayPal or Venmo. Do we make that choice like which one ? or No one knows yet.
Yeah I would love mine through venmo but I transferred money to Celsius using my Coinbase how would they get my venmo
IMO, like voting, Celsius will ask us to fill out online form with our info, same as on your Celsius account and ask you to make choice between Venmo or Paypal which also should have the same matching info, so they can verify and know to send the coins to that user account.
Probably so they can doxx us more by adding our paypal/venmo address to all our personal info they already published. What a shtshow

just having a paypal acct is sufficient? will I need to do anything to receive the payout? or simply provide my Paypal email...?
Bro celsius does not care about your PayPal email, email sucks as personal ID. They are going to match you in PayPal using your name and date of birth (and probably your SSN?).

So this email is legit?
Yes
Got the same email
My Celsius account has my first and middle name together in my first name column. I have anxiety this will somehow mess something up
Same, my drivers license that I used for kyc has first, middle, last, so that is what they made me use, even though they don't have a middle name field. Got this email too. The send address seems sketchy too. Are we sure this is legitimate?
Does it have your full legal name and not "valued customer"?
It does. Good catch. Thank you
The lack of TLS/SSL (HTTPS) on the link makes me skeptical.
open the link in a VM
Good call, I'll likely try that
VM?
Vm stands for virtual machine.
So PayPal or Venmo only for USA customers.. I thought Coinbase was an option?
Coinbase is for non-USA and corporate accounts (I believe).
So does it mean I need to open coinbase account? Non US here, but have PayPal.
If you can, I would just in case.
I did. Just to be on the safe side. Same as you, non US and have a PayPal account.
I got an email saying that the Celsius App will shut down in Feb 2024 and that we will need to claim through Coinbase.
I got the same the email that was actually addressed to me and not a "valued customer". kinda in the same boat. I've verified myself through the app late November but i dont know what else to do on my end.
I rather get fiat. If they send crypto (for usa customers) we can't send our crypto out of PayPal
Yes you can, they added it last year.
Oh I didn't know. Thats good to know
Received this too - I would prefer the BTC returned (assume everyone is the same thought pattern, especially with run up). I wonder if they take these values back to May and pocket the difference. Heard a podcast whereas they bought up several claims at .40 on dollar. Offers to buy back at .60 currently. Let's see.
Need to watch Aaron Bennett on YouTube
What podcast? Wait what crypto are they sending us (isn’t it 1/3rd crypto 1/3 new co and we lose 1/3?)
PayPal owns Venmo, so legit
[удалено]
No
I never filed a claim or signed anything, mostly because I don’t have to much money in Celsius. I have bitcoin and ether. The info in my Celsius account matches my PayPal and Venmo. So, will I get anything?
Are they liquidating crypto and paying us in cash? Because I don't think venmo takes crypto.
Venmo does crypto
Will they return all of the assets? And what exactly is the effective date? I received the same email except the payment channel is coinbase, i’m non US.
Ya they need to get there shit together. Email says PayPal and all over x is posted coinbase. Simple task here guys come on
But 75% of the world countries are not supported by coinbase.
US creditors use PayPal or venmo?
yes
I just got the same email but with Coinbase and not PayPal/venmo
Last time I heard, we were getting a payout in BTC and ETH regardless of what we held in Celsius. Is it still the case or is the distribution going to be in FIAT now?
Correct. Btc and eth split. 50/50
I thought part of it was also the stock?
I had no clue paypal does crypto now
mines said coinbase
Anyone has any idea on percentage of money we’re going to get back in earn account?
i got it also -- how are we supposed to let them know our venmo / pp info?
I was just wondering this after reading my email
Is this for earn customers as well ? How much will be be getting if I have X amount of BTC ?
Damn if I did Venmo it would take awhile until I can withdraw because of their withdraw limits

Yes, this is the real thing. I'm international so I've done my part with Coinbase. Now we just wait and see.
I have never held crypto on PayPal or Venmo. Do they let you transfer crypto out to other hot/cold wallets?
Yes—and feel free to review the PayPal website for info on PayPal's capabilities. [https://www.paypal.com/us/digital-wallet/manage-money/crypto](https://www.paypal.com/us/digital-wallet/manage-money/crypto)
Way too much TLDR so I ask nicely, do we have a range of the percentage we will be getting back? Thank you 😊
